Unfortunately Food was very very dry both starters and mains where dry and very chewy possibly one of the most worst places I’ve been Very pricey for the standards too .

Outstanding food and service. Well worth a visit

The food was lovely and lady serving was friendly. I knocked a point off because we were not offered desserts or coffees and the restaurant closed quite abruptly. Possibly because it wasn't busy. The service started off excellent but then dwindled.

Just celebrated a major anniversary with the family at Retsina, Mel and Biba looked after us very well, making sure it was a lovely evening.

Food was absolutely diabolical, nothing was fresh, nothing was authentic, being Greek myself this food was nowhere near up to the beautiful Greek cuisines standard. Only positive was the young lady that served was great and couldn’t do more for us. DONT THINK IS OWNED BY GREEK PEOPLE !!!

It was OK. I hadn’t been to retsina for a couple of years as previously it was underwhelming. I went in hoping it had improved, bud sadly not. My review is intended to be constructive because this place could and should be a gem. Family run, great location, lovely setting, exactly the kind of place I would love to go to regularly. Front of house were lovely and helpful, where it’s let down is the food. I can’t say the food was bad, but I can’t say it was good either. I ordered Dolmades to start, two very small dolmades arrived. Although the flavour was ok, they were far too small to serve only two as a starter. Main was stifado, meat was tender, portion was small but the sauce was pretty thin and not very flavourful. Pretty certain the onions in it were jarred pickled onions rather than kokaria or even shallots. I think the kitchen staff could benefit from experiencing some of the other Greek food places liverpool has to offer.

First time in this restaurant, absolutely blown away by the whole experience. Will be back soon

Food still great and a new menu since we were there last. So friendly and,atmospheric, come and recreate that Greek holiday feeling!!!

Had hot starter for 2, wasn't much there and pitta bread hard and nothing to dip it in Kleftico was nice

Mediocre food, found meat was quite dry. Uncomfortable seating. Quite disappointing really.

I used to go here several years ago, but it is not the same, not very busy and food was not that good. Shame really.

Just had an amazing time here celebrating two family birthdays! Food amazing as always and staff very attentive. We wanted for nothing! Had five young children with us who were fussed over, and made every welcome indeed!

Our late father being half Greek, this is a family favourite for us all on special occasions such as his birthday. Been visiting this place for many years now, is was a favourite of our Dad's too. All the staff here are lovely, friendly & always very attentive no matter how busy it's gets.

Great food, friendly service and sociable atmosphere

Food not too bad just nothing special but really expensive for what you are getting. Ordered the 2 for £11.95 but had to order chips and rice so costs add up.

lovely experience at Retsina, even both my 9 month old and 4 year old loved the place. tried vegan moussaka which was surprisingly good. wife had the mix grill. they had an interesting baked hummous. ended the day with baklava which i wished was abit more, haha, and the wife had tiramisu. will visit again some day.

Finally popped in after driving past this place for over 20 years. I wasn't disappointed. Food was great. The menu was varied and the service was excellent. All the staff seemed really friendly and attentive.

Have been going to this restaurant for many years, the food is always very good. The management & staff are brilliant they are very friendly and take great care of their customers, they are always so very kind and caring towards my elderly mother, always cheers her up.

Very nice family owned Greek Restaurant with incredibley friendly staff, an extremely pleasant atmosphere and delicious food prepared quickly without sacrificing anything on presentation nor flavour. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody who is in the area and looking to eat out. Have eaten here many times and it has never failed me or anyone I've been here with.

My cousin and I visited this delightful restaurant and were both highly impressed. There was a nice atmosphere, the food was superb and the waitress could not have been more pleasant and it was very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back

July 10th 2020 ... just picked up a takeaway from the Retsina Greek Restaurant in old swan dolomad es to start ... mains mixed grill kebab with chips and lamb kleftiko with rice oh my word all i can say is the food was faboulous its been over 20yrs since ive been there and its just as nice as i remembered it back then very traditional

It will be harsh but no taste of food what so ever. Thought it was going to be a bit traditional and a bit different but no. Hoping it will improve.

A nice place with very efficient and friendly service. The food was good but do not expect the same taste as your favorite tavern in Greece.

Booked on line. Very easy (for me). Arrived and welcomed in. Table straight away. It was a Sunday and I think it was mother and son waiting on. Willing to answer any questions and to give advice. Me and my daughter got mixed Kebab some of her meat was a bit chewy, mine was ok. My partner got veg peppers with rice. Good but did think for veg a bit expensive. Would we go back yes, would we recommend yes very homely

I love Greek food, but I dont like it bland or burnt, or overcooked and dry, unfortunately it was...very low lightning also which isnt great if your eyesight is poor, very dated inside with an annoying Greek guitarist on the telly which acts as the music, on repeat 🙄...owner was lovely but the food is way way overdone.. my partner got the mixed grill and its was all dry and overcooked, I got the retsina chicken which was ok but just no taste, the chips where greasy and soggy..just not great, our usual Greek was closed tonight, so we thought we would try, unfortunately won't be going back. Oh Keo was nice and the apple crumble was nice, and tiramasu was nice hence the stars

Small and welcoming place that serves a wide range of Greek food (including a standard kids menu). Been here many times and have never has anyone had a bad meal, always amazing. Staff are always polite and serve well. The decor is 'interesting' (looks like it's from the 80s), clean and seems authentic, although you might not like it if you only want snobby places. Shame it's only open Thursday to Sunday now but it's rarely too busy nor too empty to maintain a nice vibe. Totally recommend this place, for any occasion.
