We had the tasting menu and it was incredible. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food which was outstanding. The presentation of the food was very carefully done and looked as good as it tasted. The staff were so friendly, welcoming, informative and attentive from the moment we entered until we left. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was cosy with several tables in a smallish area which essentially is too living rooms joined together. The tables are spaced far enough apart that you don’t feel like anyone is intruding and they aren’t trying to cram you in. The whole experience gets a 10/10 from me and my wife and we will be going back again in the future.

This restaurant is booked out weeks ahead for a good reason. It is the very very best eating experience in Cambridge. I would unreservedly recommend you try it. Just superb!!!

Beautifully presented and very tasty food with soft drink pairing. One of the team worked out it was for a birthday celebration and surprised us with a little birthday treat which was a lovely touch.

I had a full course dinner menu at the Cambridge Michelin restaurant, which was quite impressive. I did not expect to be stuffed at a Michelin restaurant given my large appetite… We started off the taste journey with a bite size warm cheese tart, topped with shredded Parmesan. Among the three snacks, my favorite was the rabbit course, which was exquisitely prepared with complex flavors. Featuring a thin, crispy coating with the wild taste of rabbit meat preserved just right. The pre-meal bread was a pleasant surprise and one of the reasons my friend revisited. I'm not usually interested in flaky bread, but the bread itself was moist but not greasy, and I was surprised by its warm feel, easily crumbled crust, and perfectly structured air pockets. Among the three kinds of butter, my favorite was the fermented yeast, which had an unexpected taste of miso. Followed by a custard mushroom soup, the custard was different from the Asian style, resembling cream added, with a garnish of black truffle aroma, overall not bad. The three main courses were pork belly, codfish, and beef. The pork belly was fatty but balanced well with an aggressive sauce similar to "scallion oil"; the final steak was thoughtful, with butter used in a layered potato, the beef tongue and steak were slow-fried, and the bone marrow was stewed into a sauce. However, the codfish was a bit disappointing, although the fish was tender from low-temperature slow cooking, the sauce lacked surprise. The transition before the dessert was clever, with a grapefruit sorbet parfait and lemon jelly making a refreshing, grease-cutting ice cream sandwich. However, the actual dessert was somewhat too heavy, with the caramel almost reaching the viscosity of toffee, overpowering the bitterness of the chocolate itself, which, as a chocolate lover, I only managed to finish with difficulty. Overall, it was delicious, but I feel this menu was not well-balanced between dishes, starting from the very first appetizer, giving a strong sensory impact and easily becoming too rich.

The meal was wonderful. The chef and the team was brilliant.Not only the food was delicous, their services was excellent. I liked the starter to the desserts. They used the local sourced ingredients from for the dishes, they made the tasty beet which from Herefordshire. It was terrificly good, it is worth the money.

If you want to experience the warmest welcome, delicious wines and food that simply defies all superlatives then this is the place to be. The fabulous team work together to create the best atmosphere for you to create amazing memories of dining perfection.

Had their tasting menu with the wine flight. We had the best experience. Expensive - yes, but we felt like we had good value.

Everything was very nice, from the food (we have regular and no fish tasting menus) to the atmosphere and service. Myself was very full midway through the menu :) Loved the parmesan starters and the amazing soup.

Excellent!! Wonderful service and exquisite menu. Often tasting menus have a strong start, but can’t keep up the level for all dishes. Not at Twenty-Two, every dish is delicious, from start to finish. Moreover, the staff is very attentive, and gifting a box with their delicate homemade bread upon departing is a good example of a little touch that can truly elevate the customer experience. Absolutely delicious and great service. Bread and butter? It wasn't just bread and butter, delightfully fluffy, layered croissant style buns with whipped, quenelles of butters mixed with delightful flavours. The rest of the food was perfection, everything went together like a jigsaw on the plate, every flavour purposeful and edible. I could go on but the bottom line is, you have to go and try this place if you haven't yet. If you don't like food, don't go. If you do, better get a booking now.

I would like to thank the entire team for making the evening very special. I still see & remember the visit as it was yesterday and in reality it's almost to 2 weeks. Me and my partner visited here. Looks like somebodies house from the outside. But the dining experience was second to none. All the staff friendly and helpful. Iwould definitely recommend the fine wines optionale Bethany explained every wine perfectly. I know nothing about wine but she helped me understand it. Really can’t praise the food or staff enough. Perfect!

This place is amazing! This was a birthday treat from my son and his wife, who have also visited this restaurant and they knew we'd like it. From first stepping through the door to leaving, the experience was perfection. We had been booked in for the lunchtime taster menu, quite a few courses and we were told of what we were eating for each course. We went for the flight of wine which starts at the main course and you get a different type of wine to go with course you were eating. The knowledge of the staff regarding the food and wine was brilliant, We loved it, we were made to feel special that afternoon. When we left we were given a little going away package all neatly wrapped and told to warm in the oven. We did this the next day and it was a kind of malty bread, delicious. This definitely is a treat of a restaurant and would definitely recommend

My partner and I had a wonderful meal here. We got stuck in standstill traffic and ended up being 40mins late (!!!) but they still accommodated us and kept the table which was really very kind of them. Service was really lovely and I can't fault them in anyway. Highly recommend restaurant 22 - we'll be back ☺️

Having had this on our wish list for a while we decided to treat dine here as our Christmas gift to ourselves, and we were not disappointed. Lovely setting and attentive staff. The food was amazing, tasty and beautifully presented with clear explanations as each was served. It would be difficult to pick a favourite dish all were so good, with the most delicious combinations of flavour and texture. On a personal note the only thing we didn't enjoy was the yeast butter ( one of three, so plenty of the others to enjoy with the most delicious bread we have ever had). The only very minor suggestion for improving the score from 99 to 100 would be staggering the serving of dishes in the upstairs area a bit more, it is small ( which is lovely) but when most of the tables were served a dish within a few seconds of each other it was quite difficult to focus in in our server and hear them properly ) not their fault, they were speaking clearly and loudly enough, just the combination of so many talking at the same time). For a special treat we'd definitely recommend dining here.

We have been going to R22 for a few years now & have loved it. The food is great. We’re always surprised by something & the wine pairings are spot on. We always opt for the full tasting menu and flight of wines to get the most out of the experience. The place is cute & cosy, which is one of the reasons we’ve repeated our visits. Our last trip was not so great though & we won’t be going back. It all started so well. Incredible food & wine as always. Cannot complain about that. Half way through the meal my husband commented that he thought we were being rushed a little. We had finished the whole thing at the same time as those around us who were having the shorter menu. Certainly not how it should be or how we’ve ever experienced before. Then we were offered a drink to finish, which we ordered. As the drinks were brought over to us, we were told we had 5 minutes to finish them and leave as our time was up! Sadly this left a really bad taste in the mouth & combined with the rushed meal, spoilt the experience. It was such a shame. If they’d messed up & not allowed sufficient time for us to have the full menu they should’ve just said rather than rushed it. Too much money to spend for it to be ruined like that. We'll be heading back to Midsumer House for these meals from now on. More expensive but the service is on another level.

This is a very special place. We have eaten here 3 times over a few years and it just continues to improve. The food is absolutely incredible- such thought and attention to detail and flavours. The staff are also excellent. Friendly and welcoming without an ounce of pretentiousness. I’ve never been to a place the serves food this good in such a nice atmosphere (including some 3* places) The team work so hard and I wish Alex & Sam every success for the future.

Previous reviews make a very compelling case as to why this is simply a fabulous restaurant. But you need to try it for yourself. It is very special and the quality of the food is out of this world. The friendly service complements the whole experience and the staff are all incredibly knowledgeable. Although a tasting menu, with multiple courses, they arrive at a leisurely pace and you never feel full. We had the classic wine flight and this was extremely carefully chosen with flavours that paired superbly. We will definitely return and although not cheap, this place was worth every last penny. Thanks to all!!

Truly outstanding. A meal I will remember for the rest of my life. Each course of the tasting menu was simply delicious. We had the non alcoholic drinks menu to accompany which was also outstanding unusual flavours to accompany each course. Simply wow all round....

Absolutely 5 star, I would give 6 stars if I could based purely on the service alone. Booked in for my Girlfriend's birthday and from the minute we walked up the steps to the front door to the moment we left we were treated like royalty. Little touches like a card on the table for her and a birthday dessert were unexpected and wholeheartedly touching. That's before I even get on to the food! Every plate was precisely explained, dietary requirements catered for and most importantly: tasted absolutely divine. We had the joy of sampling the 7 course tasting menu and there are elements of it that I still crave again a week later! We didn't go for the accompanying wine flites, however hearing the sommelier take other tables through the selection kind of made us wish we had. Maybe next time! Lovely place food was breath taking

I've been here twice now and have had a wonderful experience both times. They are very happy to accommodate my pescatarian diet, and I love that they offer a non alcoholic paired drinks menu when we were there once for a lunch booking when we had to pick up our kid from school immediately after. They have also been incredibly lovely recently at accommodating a late change with our booking which I appreciate greatly. Their Michelin star is very well deserved, and I'm glad I can have the smug satisfaction of knowing they were amazing even before that award had been bestowed.

The entire staff at Twenty Two works extremely well to contribute to a perfectly wonderful experience. The service is polite and attentive, accompanying the guest throughout the meal without getting overbearing. I had a lovely time chatting with everyone, and found all of the staff extremely precise on the description of the dishes. Overall they truly contributed to the welcoming atmosphere that made my visit feel so special. The full tasting menu holds up beautifully from start to finish. My favorites included a rabbit dish with a ginger pairing, unexpected but sensational, and the pigeon main which featured a blackberry ketchup I'll be dreaming about for the foreseeable future. It's worth mentioning the dinner ends on a high note with a dessert that didn't live in the shadow of a perfectly crafted savory selection (I'll admit I get really excited about desserts!!) Truly worth a try (and a second one, and a third one, and I guess I'll just have to be back to Cambridge every once in a while just to see what Twenty Two is up to)

Five stars not enough. This is the best fine-dining restaurant in Cambridge ... without any intimidating service or crazily priced winelist ... fascinating, inventive and delicious food, lovely friendly staff. Ok ... just been back again ... I didnt think it was possible to top the review above ... but we just visited again ... now they have their Michelin 🌟... very well deserved ... it hasnt gone to their heads.... the price is unchanged ... and the food is even better, so inventive, and Thursday lunch is an amazing bargain!

We visited for my partner's birthday and had the full tasting menu and wine paring to go with. Each course was fantastic both visually and in flavour. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend visiting here.

Has become a regular of ours for special occasions. The food today though was especially delicious. Every course on the lunch short tasting menu was splendid. If I had to choose a favourite it would be the monkfish, followed by the lamb, foie gras and bread course. But every course was amazing. Course after course of delicious food, the tasting menu offers something for everyone’s taste buds. The staff are amazing, explaining everything in detail to you. This Michelin star restaurant also manages to be unpretentious, which is a difficult balance.

A beautiful little jewel of a restaurant. Enjoyed a fab evening out with my foodie buddy, and we enjoyed the short tasting menu with matching flight of fine wines. Everything was so well considered, the portion sizes make for a lovely meal where you get to taste so many delightful things, feel well fed but not overstuffed by the end. The wines were beautifully matched with the food, nothing out of balance and the staff were delightful, welcoming and knowledgeable about both the food and drinks served. The petit four were so delicious and a perfect way to round off the meal. Yes, it's a fancy treat experience, but it's worth every penny.

So incredibly delicious and great value for what is a really special place. I took my husband for his 40th birthday and the team at Restaurant Twenty Two made a lovely effort to make it special for him. Solid 5-star. Totally enjoyed the lunch menu and looking forward to bringing my family and friends here! This is going to be no. 1 place for treating important guests (Might sneak back on my own for some a weekday treat too <3) Literally everything is fantastic. Thoughtful but not ostentatious creations with local produces. Parmesan snack with roasted pumpkin seeds. Warm, gooey, cheesy. A beautiful starting point. The green asparagus custard with ham and aerated white asparagus foam really encapsulates the spring. Herbal and full of umami, it has a light texture like Asian steamed egg. Bread arrives as a laminated brioche, which looks like a denser croissant. A little guilty, but delicious. Beautifully layered and buttery. The butter is milky, but the chicken liver pate is the absolute queen on the bread. Smooth, creamy, flavorful but not too heavy even on top of that flaky bun. Cured and seared cod, covered lemon dill and in mustard hollandaise. I was worried it could be too overpowering, but it is alright. Still extra for me and reminds me of my college kitchen. Crispy kale is lovely and the radish is refreshing. The cod itself is plump and tender. 8/10 Prime cut of beef in slow cooked in water bath. The beautiful pink piece is deliciously seasoned and tender. The bottom piece tastes like red braised and contains a melting chunk of tendon. Morel mushrooms are pickled and slightly sour, zingy. The Great Abington asparagus is gigantic in size but delicate in taste. Red wine and garlic sauce has capers, ham, and mustard in it and offers complex flavors. Also enjoyed the celeriac purée which goes well with the steak. The plating is so elegant and not pretentious at all. 10/10 Absolutely love the dessert. The best finishing course among my recent years’ dining experiences (excluding my tiramisu hunts)! Again a fine balance between taste and creativity. Frangipane sponge, crumbly and light. Chocolate mousse. Naturally sweet Banana jam. Hazelnut mousse. A small scoop of salted milk ice cream, delightfully savory and cooling. Shortbread and mushroom crumbs. Banana stick. Not trying to be extravagant but everything combines harmoniously to present extraordinary finale. ❤️ And thankfully it’s not too sweet at all— surprisingly, the dark chocolate dome and the ripe banana core may be the sweetest part. Heard it’s new to the menu. Please keep it 🥹 100/10 The little space is cozy and has the charm of sitting in a loving family home. The second floor is intimate with lovely drawings. Service is super warm, attentive but not intrusive. And the courses come one after another in an efficient pace. My partner brought me here for a special lunch. The full tasting menu and wine pairing was absolutely divine. The perfect amount of food; we didn’t leave too full or hungry. We each had different dish favourites though they were all divine in different ways! The cocktails we had whilst eating the initial snacks (Negroni and espresso martini) were incredible.
