Pizza Express - Kings Lynn in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Heard the chefs swearing and laughing the whole time I was waiting for my food, Heard the name Tom a lot. When my food came was poorly put together and barely even warm. If I could some how have some reassurance you will speak to the chefs and the kitchen staff about this then I will remove the bad review. But my main concern was the level of noise and explicits coming from the kitchen.

Ok, so this is a chain pizza joint... It does not feel like it. Yes, the food is very good. It is in a beautiful, historic part of the town. But there is some magic at play here... The people who work here make it very special indeed. Although I am not a big pizza fan, I can say that this is my favourite place to eat in King's Lynn. That is all...

Meal out with a friend, chose pizza express as we know we'll always get a friendly greeting. My friend was undecided so Ethan gave a good recommendation which she was very pleased with.

Delicious food but very slow to bring the food in a restaurant that wasn't busy. We had to rush to eat as we had the theatre to get to.

Parents ordered three large pizzas for delivery on Friday night and all three family members said it was the worst pizza they had ever eaten. Soggy crust, very little toppings and generally unpleasant. I was disappointed in their experience as I gave them a voucher to try Pizza Express through Deliveroo, hoping they would enjoy the pizzas and return as regular customers. One family member ate a slice and put the rest in the bin.

Mark was a fantastic host - pizza express is already a fave but tonight’s meal was 10x better thanks to our attentive host. Always a pleasure and adds to the pizza express experience, Mark you’re doing the brand proud!

Very busy and not many staff so probably explains why service was very slow. Pizza was a little dry, which is unusual for pizza express.

Waited an hour and half for food, no explanation for reason. Hollow atmosphere, noisy space. Maybe not enough staff in kitchen to cook for in-house customers as well as extranal customers.

Regular visitors to Pizza Express, Kings Lynn. Food is always excellent and in the manager, Danny, they have a superstar who makes every persons visit special. He remembers names , drinks etc and has a great rapport with all the excellent staff and guests alike. Highly recommended.

My friend and I walked in on Saturday night, hoping to get a table. Although they were busy they managed to fit us in, the service and food wa great as always. We had a lovely meal, all 3 courses were really hot and didn't wait long. Always have great service and food in the kings lynn branch

Had a lovely experience with my family and friends. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, prompt service when it came to drinks, food and clearing tables, etc. Desserts, we're a tad on the expensive side, so we popped to woffleopoluse three doors down. It was a bit of a loud experience when it came to the atmosphere, so it might not be suitable for small kids or babies. The food was tasty, something there for everyone, so don't worry about that. In my personal opinion, the spinach and ricotta cannelloni is the most delicious dish, and I highly recommend it 😋

Left whating at door with 6 other people toilet wash basin required a good clean especially at the top

Visited here yesterday and even though the food was good, the waiting time was awful. There was 5 tables in use in the whole restaurant and we waited an hour from the time our started arrived to when our pizzas come. We was in the restaurant for nearly 2 hours. Never again!

Me and my partner both had pizzas with sides and a drink each which came to about £60. No complaints. Service was good and quick, food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. This was on a busy Saturday night as well :)

Real shame to write this as it’s been our local branch for years but second time in a row now we’ve had at least a 45 min delay between start and main due to volume of takeaways being prepared. Then led to our food being rushed and not cooked to usual standard. Reported to very sympathetic team member but no action from shift manager. Not sure we’ll be back as clearly a company policy issue

Lovely food, a little busier than expected but staff were working very hard to keep food coming. Tiramisu and fresh mint tea were a lovely combination.

I'd like to know if I will ever get a good takeaway pizza in King's Lynn. As is the case in PapaJohns, Dominos and the burger, kebab, Chinese and fish and chip places, I don't think the staff here have even heard of quattro formaggio, or bruschetta and prosciutto melones which are the usual starters in Italy. Grappa/ limoncello and all of that. All I can say now is that King's Lynn is crying out for a decent takeaway pizza place. Somewhere that has a basic knowledge of pizza-making. I suggest the owner visit Italy and become inspired there. You might get away with it for a while in King's Lynn, but one day someone is going to go bananas having tried an English processed food pizza here. A good business opportunity awaits. It's egg and chips for me for the time being.

We done a kids party for my 5 year old and it was brilliant. The kids loved making pizzas. Danny was great with the kids making them laugh, and the pizzas tasted even better. Massive thank you to the pizza express team

Awful! We booked a family table for six adults and four children. We arrived on time and waited a while to be served. Long story short… an hour later we were still waiting! I asked to speak to the manager; Ethan identified himself as the manager which I later discovered not to be true when I spoke to the real manager, when I had to ask where our food was again. Ethan had told us we could just leave if we weren’t happy. No apology or understanding of us and kids being hungry. We left and are now awaiting a Dominos take away, which is why I taking the time to write this review. Awful service, awful customer relations, awful management… whoever they were. I don’t understand why Prince Andrew even pretended to go there

We didn't book and it was busy. Only table was near the window and there was quite a draft. Food was good though and service is always excellent.

Table booked for 6:30 arrived 6:25 nice waitress very friendly took the order food arrived 1hour 10mins later usually in pizza express is about 35min maybe some sort of problem but no one came and said it would be over a hour which would have been nice

we went here for my sisters birthday and was quite disappointed. We had to wait over an hour for starters which was just calamari and dough balls bare in mind the restraunt wasn’t busy but you would see them packing away for the takeaway orders and no one in the restraunt was receiving food. My sister has autism and was not great to keep her waiting for over an hour just for some rough balls. They service wasn’t good , no one really came over to make sure we was okay , got told the blonde waitress messed our ticket up when she said it was the machine. It wasn’t welcoming for us just felt judged from us not being happy as off the long wait for food. Wasn’t happy with the stay and service. Could have been 10x better. Didn’t feel prioritised after complaining as the wait didn’t get any quicker but was a shame and felt a waste of time.

We all had the best time at Pizza Express today. All the staff were amazing and friendly, an extra special thank you to chef Louie. My son was observing him and before I knew it, one of the waiters had swept an apron over his head and he was joining in! Also found him cutters and once he’d finished they even baked them for him to take home! He’s convinced he wants to be a chef when he’s older. Thank you to all that helped make our (but especially my sons) evening !

Visited with 6 adults and 3 children. Even though the place wasn't busy we were kept waiting over any hour for our food. My choice was the lasagne which was just a runny mess, not appetising at all. Certainly would NOT go again

I've only just recently been introduced to Pizza Express by my boyfriend (we ate in the Lincoln restaurant earlier this month) so visiting this one in King's Lynn yesterday with my dad was a first, and my dad has never been in a Pizza Express himself. Couldn't find fault with anything. Fast service, attentive and polite staff, and great tasting food. I had dough balls with garlic butter, lasagne and honeycomb cream slice. My dad had calamari, carbonara, and summer sundae. It was all very tasty. We will probably return at some point. I only wished I lived in King's Lynn in order to be able to order food via the app and get it delivered straight to my door at home regularly, if I'm being completely honest!

Food was good however prices are way too high and portions are small.

Extremely recommended the service and food here for anyone with dietary requirements. We had gluten free, dairy allergy and a heap of vegetarians/vegan and everything was explained perfectly and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent.

My Fiance and I visited Pizza Express in Kings lynn on October 5th for a birthday meal. I can honestly say it was the best meal out I have had in years. I have very awkward dietary requirements (no gluten, onion or garlic amongst other things) for health reasons, so eating out is always a struggle and a worry. Our server, Ethan assistant manager, was SO accommodating, helped us out with ingredients and dietary/allergen changes. It made us feel so welcomed and relaxed - and I finally enjoyed a meal out, even with being so awkward. Our food was delicious, our service was amazing. Couldn't recommend this restaurant and it's staff enough! Will be dining here again for any evening meals out we have.

Good quality pizza and pasta, overpriced but Tesco clubcard makes that much more palatable. No beer on tap which is a shame, nice quick service and you know what you getting.

We have had many nice pizzas at Pizza express over the years but they have certainly gone down hill. It was obvious to us on our last visit that there is a lot of penny pinching going on. There was very little topping on our pizzas......there was a good 3 inches around the edge with no topping on whatsover and the rest of the pizza had only an ultra thin layer of sauce and the meanest sprinkle of cheese possible. We left feeling like we had eaten a lot of dry pizza base and not a lot else. The deserts no longer even come with a scoop of ice cream or a dash of cream unless you want to pay extra. In my opinion being tight fisted is only going to lose them customers. We ourselves had a conversation on where we could go for dinner next time instead of Pizza Express as our pizzas were so poor and unsatisfying. We did plan on complaining a little but like someone else has said the waitress did not even ask us if our food was ok for the first time ever....... maybe for a reason.

Had a really nice lunch here mid week. I had the duck pizza and it was delicious. The friend I had with me had the prawn pizza which he said was very nice. The lady who served us was really lovely Will definitely visit again

Fantastic staff from very helpful & friendly staff. Ordering from the gluten free menu was so easy & as food is cooked in front of you we could see everything being prepared. Excellent management skills from Danny & Ethan backed up by ever smiling & helpful staff. Was a busy night but we were happy to wait as food was so good. Really nice meal served by great staff, what more could you ask for!

We were able to book a table via the app and was assisted by the very professional, helpful and friendly Ethan in navigating our way around the rewards available and WiFi. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was great and the service, as we have come to expect, was excellent.

Unable to book online we decided to visit and see if we could get a table. On arrival we were told they were fully booked but they would find us a table. Despite being really busy the service we received was outstanding. The quality of food was excellent. Special thanks goes to Ethan for his quality of service and attention to detail. This is why pizza express continues to be my favourite restaurant. It's very nice to see so many of the staff have worked there for a long time which makes every visit so personal and friendly. Well done and thank you very much.

The food was great but the menu had changed since our last visit and had less choice which was disappointing as there were a number of our favourites no longer on the menu. The service was slow as there were only two people serving but our waiter did the best he could despite doing everything on his own, including putting together and serving the sweets and making coffees ! This was the first time we'd eaten out after lockdown, we were impressed by the way the tables were spaced out, extra table on the end for staff to serve on. Menu and paid on app. Staff only interacted with you when necessary to keep it safer.I was glad we chose pizza express as our first eating out experience, we all felt safe and looked after.

I always enjoy a meal out at Pizza Express. This restaurant in Kings Lynn has a nice outlook on the Saturday Market place and is a historic building in its own right. Watch the pizza being made! I like that they offer the lighter pizza as well. Yummy♡

Great food, really pleasant service from a kind lady, unfortunately didn’t get her name. Looked after us and it seemed like many others, almost by herself, while keeping a big smile throughout.

I have never been out to pay for food with such terrible service. I actually burst out laughing at one point because I thought some one was playing a joke. We all felt very uncomfortable at times.

Eaten here many times, always good food and friendly service. Can get very busy but we've never been turned away or been left waiting long for food.

I’m not going to bore you with the whole story, but the food was very nice ( and I’m not a chain restaurant fan, so I was pleasantly surprised) however the service from the staff was just awful. Manager and waitress stood chatting ignoring eye contact whilst we waited over 20 minutes to order a drink, then they took half the drinks order and wandered off without asking everyone (there was only 4 of us, not exactly a lengthy process) We had to get the waitress to come back to complete. Food took a while to arrive but was very nice. Dessert was same experience as drinks. Waitress was distracted and didn’t really care at all. Wandered off mid order to talk to someone else. If the food hadn’t have been nice we would have complained and not paid. 2 courses for 4 people with a drink each £125. I think you should at least get a waitress/manager that can be bothered to ask if you would like a drink and if everything is ok, at that sort of price bracket. We will not be returning.

My wife and I had a great lunch here this week. My wife chose a pizza from the Romana range. It had a thin base with lots of topping, just how a pizza should be and I had the Lasagne. The food was great as was the service.

Went for a meal with friends & the pizza base had very little flavour & the tomato sauce tasted like tomato puree. I have had better from a takeaway place for £6.Pizza express has increased their prices to just under £15 for a Romano which is much higher than any of the other pizza chain restaurants. I am done with this restaurant & am not surprised that they are struggling to survive.

Greeted by miserable staff , felt an inconvenience for requiring a high chair for our little girl, found a hair In one of the starters, this was rectified about 20mins later with my partner finishing her starter then having to wait for me to finally get mine! Mains were good and tasty, but staff miserable and appeared not to want to be there ! One was fanning himself with a fan at the till for most of our time spent there... service extremely slow we had to leave before bothering with a dessert as parking ticket ran out !!by far the worst pizza express we have been to! Sadly Will not be returning anytime soon.

Usually come here for birthday celebrations and the like and we are never disappointed. Always a good atmosphere and friendly helpful service. Still true on this evening despite the restaurant being busy. The food is always good and tasty. It is always worthwhile having a side salad as the pizzas are a fair size. The Leggera pizza is an optional choice, smaller as it has a "hole" in the middle to accomodate a small salad. We had a nice bottle of Chardonnay and there is a reasonably exciting choice of desserts. There are parking options close by or can be walked from the bus or train station in 10 or less minutes.

3 of us went out for an evening meal for a night off from the babies. We had seen an offer about the bottomless doughballs with a bottle of prosecco so had already decided to take up the offer... however, when we got there the waiter didn't seem to know anything about it despite there being a leaflet about it on our table. Off he went to ask about it and he came back and said yeah that's fine, but you must only share them amongst 2 of you!we laughed and said fine, then he came back again and said before I give you your bottle of prosecco you CAN NOT use any other voucher with this. We laughed again and said fine... we felt he really didn't want us to have them. So eventually we got our first plate of doughballs, only 2 of us had the prosecco but 3 of us ate the doughballs... we asked for another plate... which took about 20 mins to come and when it did they were the tiniest doughballs we have ever seen. We finished them pretty quickly and asked for another plate to which the waiter replied "I've been told to say no because we have caught you sharing!". We literally felt like naughty school children and have never heard anything so pathetic in our lives. Nowhere on the leaflet on the table did it say you must not share, and so what if we did?! It wasnt like it was a table of 6 sharing a bottle of prosecco and doughballs. At first the offer seems good, but if you're going to treat your customers like naughty school children just get rid of the offer. Or teach your waiters about the deals and how to speak to their customers in a less patronising way. We didn't dare order a pudding for one and ask for 3 spoons incase we got told no again... we also had to ask for water 3 times before we actually got some. It wasn't even busy.

It's not on the menu and is much hotter than the standard pizzas they usually serve. Not much more to say about a chain but the quality is always good and the pizzas delicious. amusing selection of cold beers also.

Good to be back here. Much enjoyed another pizza. Worth giving them a mention. The service was good. My only complaint about this place (like so many of the chain), is that the stark decor does make for a very noisy experience. But this restaurant is within a historic building with exposed beams and ancient walls - so it does have its own character. Thank you.

Starter and Dessert very good but the main course which I have eaten in other Pizza Express was not up to standard. Its contents were overcooked. Chewy mozzarella and crispy pepperoni. Not much meat or cheese and hidden under salad. I expect better quality. Disappointed. Expensive for 3 pieces of each!!!

Lovely service and speedy delivery of food on a busy Friday night. The manager in particular was very attentive with a good sense of humour. The food was perfectly cooked and reminds me why I come back time and time again. My husband particularly liked the new still strawberry lemonade.

This is our favourite restaurant. We like atmosphere and ambience. Staff are usually good including their manager who is a permanent face there. New addition to the menu is chicken wings of high class quality. Starter is good addition too.

Can’t beat it.. never fails. Best pizzas are polla forza, calabrese & padana. Great setting too near market place.

Had dinner here with a local friend and it was pretty good. Had the hot diavola pizza and finished with the fig desert which was fantastic. Only disappointment was that the staff seem to disappear for long periods.
