The food was delivered piping hot and carefully wrapped . My partner had beef curry and boiled rice which was very tasty with plenty of meat with thick sauce just how he asked it to be . My son had chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce which was delicious. I had sweet and sour spare ribs which were the best I’ve had in a long time . The sauce was very tasty and thick that didn’t run off the plate

We ordered a takeaway tonight, dreadful would be too kind. The rice was solid with an inedible oil/sauce on top We tried to serve it but both decided we wouldn't want to eat it. We then had "crispy" prawns ... crispy is not how I would describe them. Greasy yes, crispy no. In the end the meal ended in the bin and we had toast.

Asked for a house special chow mein a person took the order put it threw on the machine went and cooked his self in the kitchen and still got the order wrong what a thinky 🤣😂 will not use it again stay well clear

Not in the habit of writing reviews but this has got my back up . We have used the Pheonix lots of times over the years and one of the dishes we have is always the same "Crispy Chicken in a Spicy Tangy Thick Sticky Peking Sauce" Love it. However, Early 2020 i ordered, collected and drove home 15 minutes away and then realised i have been given what smelt like, tasted like and most definitely was Sweet & Sour crispy chicken, zero spiciness to it in a runny sweet & sour sauce which i do not like at all. So of course i phoned the Pheonix and spoke to the lady who is always there at front of house. Her reply was extremely dismissive, that i did have the Spicy Peking dish, that she watched him cook it... No apology, No must have been a mistake, we will rectify this for you. Rudely talking to over the phone to the cook in Chinese so i dont know what was being said about me, then under duress telling they dont do refunds, and told me to drive back from 15 minutes away and they will change it. No offer of apology and deliver the right meal to me. If i didnt bring it back straight away they wouldnt replace or refund. Of course i told them how poor the service was, binned it and put the phone down as wasnt running around after 10 at night. Not used the Pheonix since untill last night as was with family and my mom suggested having this same dish... Guess what fokes.... yep exactly the same thing ! Both me and my mom said this is 100% Sweet & Sour, not the dish we have had every time before that we love.. So again i phoned the Pheonix and put the phone on loud speaker for all 4 of us to hear... Yep, again the very same lady was extremely dismissive, told me i had the right dish, that she watched him cook it, no apology, no offer to replace it and give you the right dish. After standing my ground about it, was told bring it back and we will give you the same dish back ! I just put the phone down. Also all 3 egg fried rice were stodgy and clumped together. The other meals were loaded with far too much onion hence not enough of the dish you actually order... In a nutshell, very rude, extremely poor and non existant customer service and below par food. After lots of years, i will no longer be ordering food from this establishment. The attitude towards a complaint is simply tough and your wrong.

1st order from here on recommendation. Easy to place online order,arrived spot on delivery time and excellent quality food,quantities were very generous ,no concern at all about placing another order . Thank you for your excellent service.

Ordered crispy chicken with sweet and sour sauce and chow mien got home no sauce. Great dry chicken and noodles , it’s not hard to put in the sauce before you tie up the bag so we can’t see what’s in there

Food delivered wasn't even plated looked ok but when took1 bite found it wasn't chicken I was expecting it was fleshy and didn't taste like chicken. It's was horrible.wont buy there again .

I order a Chinese here most Saturdays and i am never let down by the quality of the food and the service you receive when ordering the food and this place is one of the best Chinese takeaways in the area and highly recommend.

Used this local takeaway for several years. Food is varied and very tasty....food always hot and quickly ready....busier days..Friday. .Saturday there can be a bit of wait. .it's so popular this is expected. .but not a long..staff very friendly. A menue is available to take with you so telephone orders can be made..delivery service available. I recommend highly..Andy Steadman Rubery Worcestershire.

First off I am not a big fan of Chinese/Cantonese foods, And as a consequence I am no expert on all things Chinese!. But am always willing to try something new. Secondly, Phoenix is not a sit-down restaurant, but is a takeaway establishment based on Rubery High Street (172 New Road). They have a website and online menu, but you can order in person if you prefer. They deliver within a 3 mile range of the shop, and only to certain Birmingham post codes. So it would be advisable to check the website for specific details before ordering. Moreover, there is a delivery charge set at £1.00 for the first 2 miles, and an additional 50p per mile. There is also a minimum delivery order, again based on your post code of between £7 and £10. So with the assistance of my partner we placed our order online. Now as I said earlier, I am a novice when it comes to Chinese foods, and unfortunately although the online menu is quite comprehensive, there are no photos to give you an idea of what you're ordering. Instead I had to do a lot of Google searches instead. So being the ever-so-conservative person that I am, I opted for a starter of BBQ'd spare ribs with Peking Sauce (£5.30); while my partner went for Crispy Chicken Wings in batter with sweet and sour sauce (£4.60) *I should add that when you select your food from the online menu, there is a (+) button alongside the item. Click that and you're given a smaller menu of optional associated sauces. For mains, I chose "Crispy Fillet Chicken in Sweet & Sour Sauce" (£5.30)+a regular boiled rice (£2)+chips £1.90); and my partner the "Crispy Shredded Chilli Chicken in Sweet & Sour Sauce" (£5.30)+ regular egg fried rice (£2.20) All the usual debit and credit cards accepted for payment, And once ordered we were told it may take up to an hour to be delivered (we ordered at 6pm Tuesday (They only open of an evenings between 5pm and 11:15pm 6 days a week - closed Mondays) 30 minutes later the doorbell rings, and the guy delivers our order, and we give him a £2 tip. Now the problem of ordering both a starter and a main as a takeaway is that you need to make sure you have your oven on low to keep your main warm while you eat your starter, otherwise by the time you get round to your main it will be a bit on the cold side. The starters were both excellent. Obviously being scooped out of containers and dumped on a plate isn't quite the same as when a dish is nicely served at a sit-in restaurant. But nevertheless, both our starters were hot enough in all senses of the word, and tasty. Starters - 9/10 Our Mains were equally hot and spicy, especially my Crispy Fillet Chicken. The sweet & sour source really topped it off and added an extra bit of spice to the meal. The chicken breast was suitable tender and quite meaty too! However, my partner said her Crispy Shredded Chilli Chicken , was just "okay" Not bad but nothing anything special. But she still recommended it to novice Chinese eaters like myself. Mains - 8/10 So overall a very enjoyable experience, and quite filling too! Takeaways are never quite the same compared to sit-in meals at restaurants, especially presentation-wise. But all told I liked the service provided by Phoenix, at a cost of around £28, and will use them again when the mood for Chinese takes me. Overall - 8/10

Lovely tasty food. Good price. Lots of vegetarian dishes too which is a bonus. Quick delivery and take away service. Would be lovely if you could sit in
