Havent had a chinese meal for years and while I have visited this takeaway years ago and I do remember we weren't that fussed back then. Gave it another shot recently and the main issue is the chicken is just slimy. No other word for it. That's the main issue and I don't think its unique to this establishment either. I don't know how they cook it but its just very slimy. Flavors were a bit bland too so not a strong flavour but that was secondary to the slimy everything. I cant see us returning any time soon but it was nice to have a change regardless.

Set meal for very tasty, good value and cooked and collected on time. One of the best take away swede have had for ages.

Menu says to call to find out about allergen information. Phoned to find out what was gluten free on the menu, the reply... sorry can’t tell you. Complete waste of time and took my custom elsewhere.

We go here all the time and have never experienced a bad meal. The food is delicious and the menu varied. They only take cash and don’t deliver but it is worth the trip to go and collect. I would absolutely recommend going there to try it for yourself!

Our favourite. Never had a bad meal but that's because we mainly have the same thing. Have changed a few times but always been really tasty. Only shame they do not deliver. Don't go often, only after a hefty swim competition for the kids. Always polite staff and even say hello when we see them in town!!

I found an insect leg in the sauce of my food and binned it instantly. I only just realised I had a trip advisor account so am writing this review a while on from my experience. I would't even return if I was offered all the money in the world.

We ordered via phone about an hour before we wanted to pick it up, when we arrived our order was not quite ready, we had to wait about 15 minutes over our pick up time. When we arrived home not too sure what was in the bag with our prawn toast, we had a couple of pieces of toast but also some items that where similar to sausage roll shapes, it is too far to go back to change but we were disappointed as we didn't get what we had ordered. The food was only luke warm so everyone had to microwave their meals, It has question us as to whether we will go again

Regular for us! Nice Not too greasy tasty but salty ! As i drink loads after! Nice crunchy popadums. Meat is always good i am told. Veg chow mein nice as are veg spring rolls xxx

We fancied a Cantonese take away and was recommended opium den take away in sketty we haven’t ordered food from here for a long time I must say it was lovely nicely prepared lovely cooked and speedy we enjoyed our takeaway

We have been going to the Opium Den for a few years now it’s always excellent, never had a bad meal from them. The only criticism I do have Is there is no online menu to look at and they don’t do delivery. Apart from that they are one of the best.

Had the worst so called Chinese meal ever. Sweet and sour chicken and it was inedible. Cold hard small pieces of chicken in batter which were tasteless, returned the meal and was met by verbal abuse, will never go back.

I have read the other reviews and cannot believe the comments from these whingers, This takeaway is consistently good and when they say ready in 15 minutes they get it right. My previous takeaway was good food but you had a take a book with you it would take 45 minutes waiting, The opium Den is good all around food consistent and gives fast food a good name.

Utterly disappointed with the Opium Den. Used to be one of the very best cantonese. Everything is covered in insipid sauces. Even the egg fried rice is bland, no seasoning what so ever. It’s almost tastes as bad as a supermarket cantonese ready meal. Sort it out Opium Den.

Service was slow, not really worth waiting for. I’ve tasted better, quite disappointing. Won’t be returning. Three meals and not one good one among them.

Good Chinese food freshly prepared.

Durante el último par de años, este ha sido nuestro favorito para llevar chino, sin embargo el nivel de la comida han bajado un poco. No parece ser muy poco sabor en el plato y las salsas, satay de cerdo estaba sobrecargada con sal. Espero que consiga sus 1 estrellas higiene clasificados pronto ya que es un poco desagradable.

Decent Chinese take away. Has the usual family favourites. Prawn crackers for the car journey home!! Can't remember if they take cards. We tend to take cash.

Yo he utilizado este restaurante durante varios años, sin embargo, he notado que son rincones de cortar con la comida. Por ejemplo, una orden de jengibre y plato de cebolla de primavera y conseguir principalmente cebollas regular con muy pocos los cebollinos. También los platos de pato le tiene un montón de piezas de carne de pato con ácidos grasos muy poco. La comida está bien preparada y sabrosa pero objetos hasta la esquina de cortar.

Enjoyed duck immensley , nice crispy bits, plenty! Sweet and sour chick and curry very tasty. Quick when food order placed and didn't have to wait...espnas parking a pain there! Yes would recommend!

Muy buena comida, buen servicio. Siempre una buena calidad y bien merece la pena. Aparcamiento para llegar a ella es un poco molesto, ya que está en un cruce concurrido pero en cuanto a conseguir una buena llevar es afectado, merece la pena el esfuerzo.

La comida para llevar es bastante bueno. Sería bonito si nos trajeron. preparan comida bastante rápido. Esto es mucho mejor que un montón de comida para llevar con mucho. También creo que todo eso es llevar debería tener cocina abierta, para que podamos ver nuestra comida es estar preparados en una cocina.

Five stars - meal was extremely tasty, plenty of it, prepared exactly to schedule and very reasonable. Will definitely be using this restaurant again and would recommend you do the same.

I have had many takeaways from the Opium Den, and it has rarely let me down. We first discovered it in the early nineties and have used it ever since, and still occasionally buy takeaways from here even though we no longer live in Swansea. It's efficient, with good quality ingredients and invariably tasty food. Long may it continue - though I am sad that there is no longer a branch in Llanelli.

It's rare that I eat Chinese food as the salt and MSG just makes me thirsty and keeps me awake, so it was a treat to eat from here and find I suffered no reaction.The dishes were delicious, particularly the pork Cantonese style. Plentiful too.In fact as soon as they open in about 30 mins I am going to order tonight's dinner.

It was my husbands birthday in the middle of the week and he was so tired he didnt want to go out to eat so I looked up the Opium Den and on a recommendation from a work colleague decided to pick up a Chinese. My husband had Crisby Beef and Chips, I had Pork Curry and Rice and our daughter had Cantonese Chicken and Chips. The food, Poppadoms and Prawn Crackers were absolutely delicious and there was a great amount for the money we paid. The curry was thick and tasty unlike some we have had in the past and we will definitely be going there again.
