Naka Thai in Colchester

The food was very yummy, the service was excellent. We had a wonderful meal in a lovely setting and would highly recommend it. We had a set menu at £25.95 - loads of food and well worth it.

This is in my top two restaurants in Colchester. The house curry was so tasty and I am going to come again very soon. The Waiter was very smiley and happy and the outside area is very relaxing with a water fountain and koi carp pond. 100% recommend if you have never been before

Came here with my friend who loves Thai food. We both enjoyed our meal and the ambiance very much, despite the restaurant being in the middle of an industrial estate! We sat outside as it was a lovely warm evening the restaurant was so pretty with lots of lights and even though some of the flowers were fake, it took you off to another place. We chose to have one of the set meals as we couldn’t decide what to have. The food was amazing and some of the dishes were things we wouldn’t necessarily have ordered such as duck with tamarind, the duck was crispy and delicious with a tasty sauce. There was so much food we had to take some away which was no problem for the staff. We had a cocktail each - Dragon Passion which were presented in beautiful glasses and were reasonably priced at £7.95. The service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. This restaurant is such a little oasis and I hope to go there again soon

Very tasty Curries and Phad Thai

Naka Thai was recommended to us, and we were told to not judge it by its location. Surprisingly when you enter it’s nothing like you expect from its location. Pleasant decor, spacious and tables not rammed in. Lots of friendly staff, all greeting with a big smile. As it was a warm evening we were given the option of dining outdoors which we took. It’s like an oasis, yes some of the foliage is faux, but the sound of the water, birds and all with a subdued ambience. Right, cocktails, great price and the ones we tried were very tasty, other diners seemed to enjoy them as well as they were in abundance in being ordered. We had a variety of starters, check the rear pages of the menu as there are a number of dishes there that are recommended as starters too. Ribs were tasty but would have preferred maybe bigger and crispier. The chicken wings were lovely, so were the king prawns. We opted for a veg pad Thai to go with two meat mains that we shared. Pork belly, again lovely, crispy, tasty. Chicken with oyster sauce, so tender and super tasty. Food, drinks, service were all great. Will be going back for sure!

Starter platter was really tasty as was the chicken wings however both our Pad Thai’s were well, as if I had cooked a stir fry, tried to make it tasty by adding ingredients and the end result was something which tasted of nothing in particular. It was over cooked, mushy and tasted of burnt cooking oil and this oily aftertaste remained for a good few minutes after you’d finished your mouthful! I had never had a Thai before but my partner has had many my opinion of the Pad Thai was mirrored by her

Delivery time changed and was pushed back later and still arrived late. This is not the first time this has happened.

My wife and I headed here for a date night. From looking at the place from the outside, we weren’t sure what we were going to find, but I was pleasantly surprised! (It’s situated very close to an industrial estate). The restaurant was lovely and the service was with a smile. There was even outdoor seating which looked great. Numerous food options to choose from, especially if you are vegetarian or vegan! The food was great and for a very good price. Would definitely head back if I was near Colchester again!

Food was delivered late and was not all still hot upon arrival. The meat was far too over cooked and chewy. Such a shame as we’ve eaten in the restaurant and we know their food is usually amazing. But unfortunately the service and quality of food this time around was not good at all especially considering our order was £100

Just received a disgusting takeaway . 4 Sour mushy pad Thais Rock hard chewy sawdust pork belly. Dry cold chewy squid. Cold soggy chewy prawn toast. So upset that a £98 takeaway was so disappointing after tell our family how amazing it is . Said it was delivered at 8.05 Actully turned up at 8.45

Ate here last night for my birthday meal and we all really enjoyed it! In a weird location but its very nice inside, nice decor. Only thing we found annoying was we got seated with the tropical leafy backdrop but then 5 mins later got moved as someone else wanted/booked that table? That didnt impress us. The staff were all very nice Food was beautiful, all came out quickly. Pleasantly surprised how reasonable the prices were, would definitely go again

We had beef stir fry, honestly it was just so bland. No flavour to any of the dish at all which is a shame, love the restaurant usually but this order was a let down.

It took 2 hours to arrive which meant it arrived just before we were going to bed which wasn’t great and we’d gone past hungry at that point. Food itself was okay - but a little heavy on the oil making it quite greasy

the curry's were great, same with pad Thai, spring rolls and satay chicken. what let it down was the overcooked and burnt in areas on the lemon chicken and the vegetable tempura was soggy and greasy. unfortunately deliver ran late

Although we enjoyed the food, we had to wait an hour after the original time stated until the food was finally delivered. During our waiting time, the status of my order changed to 'delivered' although we had not received the food, so I had to call Naka Thai to enquire as I was concerned the order had been lost.

Had a delivery from here on Saturday eve to Mersea island (coopers park site) . Only took an hour and met the man at the gate who was really friendly. Food was really lovely and tasty, the massaman curry was amazing! Lovely mixed starter for two and also pad Thai and the beef sirloin both of which were really good. My only criticism was I kind of expected the good old free bag of crackers to go with it, especially after spending over £60! So I didn’t order them and therefore went without. But that’s my bad for assuming. Excellent food and would definitely go there and eat next time I visit the island!

My meal was terrible, the tempuras were soggy and tasteless , the pork tough and not at all crispy, the noodles flat and life less. Only the sticky was ok. I paid £14 for a 40minute late delivery of sub standard food and will never shop here again

I had a home delivery today and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had The food was cold. Tempura was soggy, pork belly tough and not at all crispy, most vegetable was mushy. The delivery 45 minutes late despite the outrageous £14 delivery charge It was by far the worst food I’ve every had and would not recommend it to anyone

Brilliant service and delicious food, our waitress was so lovely and so was the chef/waiter bringing the food out. Offering to edit out food if we didn’t like it it. Was fab, also very good cocktails

Chewy meat, the pork belly was awful, and the “weeping tiger” which has always been sirloin elsewhere was chewy, tasteless and full of fat!! Ironically the only Thai/Chinese restaurant I’ve ever had to pay for crackers (as big family and order) and they were the only thing that tasted authentic

Cancelled my order 3 minutes after it was due to be delivered. Had to ring for an explanation. I've always ordered from here in the past. Won't be doing it again. Food is always fantastic but this is the 3rd time this has happened now.

The food was delicious, authentic Thai food however my biggest let down was that the restaurant is not baby/toddler friendly. There are no baby changing facilities and neither do they provide a high chair and toddler menu. When asked to make something for my son, a smaller portion they made noddles with egg, no vegetables no sauce and the portion was for an adult. I won’t be coming back here and neither would I recommend this restaurant

Really lovely food, had it delivered to Harwich meaning it definitely could have been hotter but that’s nothing to do with the restaurant. Will definitely be planning an evening there with the Mrs the experience it in its full glory

The food was amazing. The weather was the reason for the delay in delivery- but we were aware of this as tge restaurant had phoned & told me. The driver was lovely as well, so this was not an issue at all. I am super happy with my dinner tonight.

We booked a table for 5. Early dinner hadn’t seen each other fora ages so looking forward to a good chat. 6.15 They needed our table in 10 minutes. No time for dessert or coffee she made that clear. Food was fantastic servers attentive but practically shoving us out the door. I won’t go back.

first time ever having thai food, its great if you like some spice. the chia tea thing was surprisingly smooth and delicious. and the tapas option to try new things is highly recommended if you want to try new things.

Food was over an hour late with no explanation until 45 minutes after delivery time and when it arrived it was lukewarm.

Really disappointed today. Ordered at 7:30 with an estimated delivery of up to 45mins but in the end the order didn’t arrive until 9:40. I am used to it taking a while as we live quite far but this was ridiculous.

Booked a table for 2 for birthday meal. The restaurant was clearly overbooked with Christmas party and our table was half in the entrance area and in the waitress way for serving other guests. We didn’t stay. Why treat people this badly when they make a booking in good faith? You ruined our night with your poor planning, obviously tempted by the pure greed of fitting another couple of guests in to a full restaurant.

Highly recommended. A little off the centre of the city but well worth the trip. Well balanced menu that will suit all tastes. Quality ingredients, presented with style. Fulsome portions. Great value. This is usually very busy so book to avoid disappointment. Service is professional and as one would expect from a Thai restaurant, friendly and happy.

Seafood and vegetables weren’t fresh rather disappointing as we treated ourselves as it’s our wedding anniversary the rice had hardly any pineapple or red peppers as described just veg they also make their dishes way too hot on chilli Thai should be delicate!

Best restaurant in Colchester (I’d argue - Best restaurant that I’d ever been too!) Naka Thai Never disappoints! I’ve been countless times, both locations. The new venue is a step above the rest! We’ve attended with friends, family, and as a couple and there is nothing but good things to say. The Staff are lovely, service is great, cocktails made to perfection and the food is always amazing! Massive selection of food, always so accommodating. Can’t wait to go back!

Off to a great start with delivery being bang on time, but unfortunately chicken was so tough and over cooked on all dishes was completely inedible & therefore ruined entire meal.

Never disappoints, ordered set meal A for 2, there is enough food for 3 or 4 if you want a light meal. Always well packed and piping hot. Recommended!

We had a takeaway from here on Friday night it was fantastic I had the yellow curry which was delicious my husband had the crispy sea bass we ordered starters the soup was superb we will definitely visit the restaurant and definitely order a takeaway again fantastic food!

New style PO pia, new for me anyways, used to be tiny thin ones, these are now fat and tasty, nice change will get again.

First time ordering from here. Although the food needed reheating in the microwave (which is understandable as you are located 20 mins from us) the pad Thai & the sharing platter was lovely! Unfortunately we did not eat the ribs as they had a mushy texture with a watered down honey flavour.

Lovely Thai food but quite pricey

Horrendous service, £10.00 for delivery and the driver took over an hour to call me and admit he was lost. Food was good in the past but it’s not worth it, pick somewhere else. Unfortunately I had to leave 1 star…

Very disappointing. Food was good but original order was obviously taken by a driver and kept for themselves as had to chase the restaurant. Probably won’t order from here again as restaurant unwilling to accept there was a issue and just stated traffic which was obviously untrue as just eat advised new driver had to be issued

Lovely order, our orders were slightly spicer then we thought they would be, but overall was a lovely meal!

We only live a ten minute cycle ride from here so decided to try it. We went on a Friday evening and although it was easy for two of us to get a table I think a larger party would need to book ahead. The staff were lovely and so helpful. I am vegetarian but also gluten intolerant and the menu was clearly marked with absolutely loads of options available to me. In fact there were so many options it was hard to choose. I had the Tom yum soup with mushrooms ( very spicy but delicious) followed by a noodle dish which I'm sorry to say, I can't remember the name of. My husband had dumplings to start and crispy roast pork with egg fried rice. The portions were a good size and we couldn't manage dessert , just opting for a coffee instead. The food was very fresh and tasty .The new building is really attractively decorated and the whole place had a nice atmosphere. Our meal came to £70 including a tip which I think is about right. My only comment would be the total lack of cycle parking. We chained our bikes to the fence only to find them almost boxed in by cars when we left. A secure bike rack would be a big bonus. We will definitely return as I need to try some of the other gf vegetarian options.
