25/10/25: Hemel Hempstead and Brixton Weekend! Went in for Ethiopian craft beer, but was only lager in bottles. Decided to try the Honey Mead Wine instead and we all shared a bottle! Very tasty! Good, friendly services.

This was the perfect African culinary experience. The food was fabulous, the servers were incredibly friendly and professional. The owner happened to be there and we ended up dancing to Ethiopian music. Highly recommended to anyone wanting an authentic cultural experience that captures all your senses.

Going to Light of Africa was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. Vegan Ethiopian food is wonderful, super well seasoned. The service is very friendly, I felt at home. I highly recommend it!

The food was delicious (even though we usually enjoy an even broader variety of flavors when it comes to Ethiopian food) and the service very welcoming and friendly.

Soulemon is a wonder person all food clean and tasty the facilities are clean and tidy very traditional east African decor and cuisine. This is a vegan restaurant they have authentic drinks from east Africa. Try some of the beer from Eritrea it goes down well and has light flavor support black owned business that are left in Brixton support the people who are the reason Brixton is on the map Take a Tour with OBI he will show you all the black owned businesses he has a well known food tour just google Afro Caribbean Food Tour London and you will find him these businesses are Gems and beautifully cultured yeah

I ate here as part of an African and Caribbean food tour in Brixton. We had injera, some Eritrean beer and honey wine. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff there were great

Look no further for authenticity. Looked like a one-woman show, and she treated every guest with great attention. The food is all vegan, and all extremely delicious. The pumpkin in particular is exquisite. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!! Highly recommend.

Amazing small Ethiopian/ Eritrean restaurant in Brixton Village Market. Have been a couple of times and had the share plate and the food is so tasty and fun to eat. Really small restaurant but it's all part of the fun.

Excellent food and friendly service

Firstly, I'd like to thank the woman who cooked for us and waited on us. She provided us with incredible service and gave us a cultural experience that I won't forget. It was truly unique. We had the ginger beer (delish :)), samosas, and a mixed platter for one (shared between 2 people). We thought the restaurant had great prices for portions and the quality of the food. We'd highly recommend Light of Africa and would return if ever in London again! Thank you!

Sensational African Cuisine Adventure - Edit Wonderful experience diving into Eritrean cuisine and it was all vegan! Yum! I’ve tried the other version of teff as a grain in Australia but this was next level. £14 for an enormous share plate that covered deliciously spicy yam, beetroot, pumpkin and lentils delightfully and thoughtfully seasoned. We were perfectly hosted by the delightful Temesgen who told us stories of his home and whose service was excellent. Our favourite culinary experience in London.

Food wasn’t hot, was lukewarm. Flavours were good though. Big portions. Not the best service, they’re in their own world

Good service. Tasty and filling vegan meal. A bit pricey and a bit too much food for 1. Maybe better to share for a light meal for 2. The pumpkin stew was especially good, and paired really well with the beetroot, spinach and lentil.

Lovely little gem! We loved everything we tried and would recommend the Bebiyanetu for two, so you can get a taste of many dishes at once. The place is tiny, but seating is comfortable and colourfully designed in traditional Ethiopian style. Service was friendly and portions were generous. Always happy when I can ask for additional bread or injera in this case to soak up all the beautiful sauces 😋 5/5 would recommend!

Absolutely delicious! Sharing platter for two is great - really good range of food, I’d never tried Eritrean or Ethiopian food before and it really is something different. Friendly quick service. Well priced. Fantastic experience, 10/10 would recommend.

This is the best Ethiopian food I've had in London so far. Full of flavour and the shop is nicely decorated.

Very small but nice Ethiopian restaurant, we had the vegan Bebiaynetu mixed platter served in Injera bread (an acquired taste) . The homemade dips were really nice and very tasty.

Great spot for a delicious vegan meal in a no-frills environment. With seating in the covered market for excellent people watching. Authentic African beer with the sharing platter is a winning combination. Thanks guys, we’ll be back for sure.

This is a nice little vegan restaurant which offers traditional Ethiopian cuisine. The mixed platter was an eating experience where a variety of delicious dishes are served on a large piece of bread made from lentils and rice. You simply break a bit of bread and take a Scoop of all of the vegan based foods. The service is good and for the untrained eye, the staff help with what is the best selection.

I love this little place! Always come here if I’m going to a gig at Brixton. Recommend getting the platter to share and then you get to try the whole menu, all delicious! Excellent service too, kind and friendly. Thank you Light of Africa! 🙏

It's quite uncommon to eat out in London and feel you're not just eating the Anglo version of a cuisine. Food was delicious but also felt totally authentic. Please try!

My first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and I don’t generally have purely vegan food, but what can I say, the food was absolutely amazing, so tasty, loads of flavours to savour in each dish, every mouthful was an experience and the service was great, very friendly. I will definitely be returning here and would recommend it to anyone, you will not be disappointed,

Had an amazing experience at Light of Africa. Find was delicious and the injera bread was fantastic. I reccomend going in a group and getting the share platter. Food was mostly vegan, healthy and delicious.

I really like this place. You don't need to be a vegan or a vegetarian to enjoy the food. One can love meat and yet still be roundly satisfied by what you are served and you won't miss it. It has consistently over years delivered in quality terms and so I do not hesitate to recommend Light of Africa.

Such a wonderful experience here for my first outing as restrcitions ease. The welcome was wrm, the food was delicious and nourishing and the beer was a bonus.
