Absolutely utterly revolting. Slimey burger on a rank hard roll, with a garnish of dead lettuce. 7 quid for chips and cheese charged at a pound a chip from the 7 of them that were on the plate. Beyond wildly over priced. About 9 staff on as well and not a lick of table service. Place should be ashamed of itself and shut down. A fortune to be made around here for someone that doesn’t serve folk with a balaclava on.

Very rude staff who threw the plate of food across the table at my colleague without a word. Never seen the like should have been a sign! Very unfriendly and unhelpful and average food.

Got a chicken wrap… except I didn’t. I got half a chicken wrap. Tastes fine, but for £4 I’d expect it to be a complete wrap.

Outstanding...... Ballinluig is literally a pilgrimage for everyone in Inverness travelling to Glasgow or Edinburgh. It's basically halfway, and by then, you will destroy the tastiest all-day breakfast you can get for the price. 😋😋

Great place I wouldn’t have discovered if another place nearby wasn’t closed. This will be my new regular stop.

What an absolute oasis on a horribly long drive to England! The place was charming and inviting, the staff were warm and welcoming. The food was good. But the coffee was tremendous, I've never had such good coffee ever, I have no idea what made it so good; I don't even like coffee but felt the need to keep me from falling asleep, but this coffee was so good I had to get another one to take away! Cappuccino and a latte!! Wish I could have stopped there on the way back! But will definitely make it my scheduled pitstop on any subsequent trips!! ❤️☕

The lady on the till was one of the most arrogant people I've ever had the missfortune to meet. Ordered 2 x sausage on a roll & 2 egg on a roll, they are priced at £3 & £2.75 respectively. I was charged £12 for all the items, I pointed out that this was incorrect as the menu board stated £3 & £2.75 for the items ordered. Response from the lady "Not my board". The rest of the staff were not much better, "stand over there" when waiting for your order which we did, then told by a different member of staff "don't stand there as you're blocking the walkway... The food itself was deepfried and really lacklustre.

Not as good as previous years, while the bacon was thick, the fat was not cooked enough. I added sausage to my roll, one link sausage split in half is not good value for the additional cost. The tea was served 5 minutes before the rolls appeared and was very weak.

Restaurant/Diner/Takeaway at Ballinluig - just a few minutes off the A9. Conveniently located right next to a fuel station. Restaurant is modern inside and very clean, as were the toilets. Food was good too and priced very reasonably. Open 7 days. Will definitely visit again and very happy to recommend.

How on earth has this got 4+ stars is beyond me. Stopped for food from the reviews saying great food!! What the heck are you guys eating!!! It's appalling, cheap whack ingredients and overpriced is an understatement 🙄 £12 for this! Looks to have been kicked across the kitchen floor and stamped upon. Greasy hollow chips and a refillable syrup soda. Even maccies is better and that's saying something.

Absolutely packed at 1030am on a Monday morning. Soon found out why when breakfast arrived. Superb and plenty on the plate. Delicious. Interior refurbished since last visit. Nice.

From Glasgow up to Inverness...this is an in between stop for a quick bite to eat. The rolls are very fresh and the scottish bacon is something else...yum yum !

Had a lovely roll and veggie sausage but the coffee was pretty awful. It was like dishwater. I asked for an extra shot and was charged £2.25 and that only made it marginally better. They need lessons on how to make good coffee.There seemed a bit of a bad atmosphere amongst the staff. Dour faces all around. If you like a decent coffee and pleasant service, try elsewhere.

Two motorcyclists stopped for coffee. Really friendly service, lady on the till gave us great information on where to ride. Made us feel very welcome. Next to the petrol station is a very good stopping point.

The food was bleh. Do burgers always lean to being just meatloaf in Scotland? I ordered a main meal which comes refills of filter coffee I got a mocha which is more expensive and they would not allow me to take a refill coffee to go. They wanted me to pay again. I would have been a simple bending of the rules being I paid more. Next time I’m come I’m gonna get the filtered coffee and have 5 cups. But alas there won’t be a next time.

Freshly refurbished American style diner where you can refuel, refill and refresh every member of your family, car included. If you are a hard working lorry driver taming the A9, this is your most convenient stop before attacking the Highlands. Plenty of parking for your vehicle. Stop by now, thank me later.

Disappointing now. Enjoyed good grub for 20 years but starting to slip. Got soup that tasted like a bag of frozen veg heated through. Two times had a chewy steak.. quality deffo slipping.😑 Sorry guys

This place is everything you want in a pit stop - great food with good value, lovely staff and clean toilets (and even a shower which I thought was an epic touch). Food came out very quickly, and menu catered for lots of options. Plenty of lovely staff to help you along the way.

1st time going there and will go again all staff friendly place nice and clean

Didn't know this place existed. We were traveling up the A9 around dinner time and passengers with us got hungry. Did a Google search to find someplace nearby. This place came up. I am not a fast food fan, so wanted a chicken wrap toasted, but they wouldn't toast the wrap. So I opted for a small portion of chips and cheese. My hubby ate them. Son enjoyed a burger and hubby had a chicken burger.. quite small chicken burger for size of bun which is a shame as he did actually enjoy the taste of it. I'd recommend it as a wee pit stop on your travels, I'd imagine it's popular with locals.

Quite nice here, staff at the checkout quite slow. Lots and lots of waiters. Eating takeaway took a very long time until it was ready. Otherwise I would like to come back to eat as the food looked delicious!

Ordered the Scotch pie. When I told them I didn't like baked beans, they told me they would replace them with another item. Meal came sans beans but no replacement. I was told "only beans come with Scotch pie" Not good enough. No imagination. What would some lettuce and a slice of tomato have cost them as we ordered 2 meals. We won't begoing to that place again tomorrow night. Going to somewhere where chips isn't served as the major part of the meal. Just poor.

I first stopped here in 1985 as a young boy with my family on the way to visit family in Elgin. We have been coming ever sins now the dad of two I bring my kids every time we go to scotland. Amazing fry up the best I’ve ever had lovely clean cafe and staff are amazing I will be coming back for meany years to come

We stayed nearby so ate here a couple of times. Nice to find somewhere which concentrates on and delivers the basics really well. Quality of food, generous portions, quick service, good value and comfortable venue. Perfect alternative to ‘standard’ roadside services, highly recommended.

Really disappointing! Used to stop here all the time, but this was the first time in a few years. The place has been done up really nice and as usual, staff were friendly and helpful. The prices have gone up... a lot. Not unexpected these days, but the portion sizes are ridiculously small compared to what they used to be. Unless you want to fill up on chips, (and there's no main meals that don't automatically come with them), you're better off eating elsewhere.

considering this place was so busy it got its own flyover built its now in a bad way. Portion sizes are down , prices are up but not too bad and the brands of food are clearly from a cheaper supplier. I've used this place since the early 80s but I think that's me done now. Such a shame.

Stopped for a coffee and bacon roll, both of which were good and at a great price.

Came in and ordered 4 takeaway coffees. The guy at the til seemed very uninterested, and was bordering on rude. He told me to stand away from the til whilst the coffees were being prepared. I was then told to move by another waitress as I was in her way, I had pointed out this is where I was told to stand and wait. The guy at the til proceeded to make my coffees, however it was done at a snails pace and one at a time. The food I had seen looked delicious so I would be back to eat, but hopefully there will be staff with a better attitude on shift.

We had a meal here while stopping on the road from Edinburgh to Saint Andrews. The prices were reasonable and the portions generous. The scotch pie was okay, but not very fresh. The full Scottish was good. The servers were nice.

I had the mini breakfast which contained sausages, bacon, egg and a slice of toast. I had a side dish of beans. Thoroughly enjoyed it, staff were polite and friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Would highly recommend.

Rudest woman I’ve ever met. Asked for my babies bottle to be warmed up and was looked at like an alien. Could then hear her talking to other members of staff about me when they were just trying to be helpful. Very strange experience, strange woman.

This motor grill used to fantastic authentic home made food, great value for money, that’s certainly not what you get now! Service was lazy food was terrible and expensive. I’ll never be back instead I’ll go to red broillie next door. It’s a pity I’ve been going here for 24 years.

This place used to be fantastic years ago, it's now overpriced and the quality and quantity of the food reduced.

This diner is one of the worst places I have ever eaten. The waiters were nice but after paying for the food everything went downhill exceptionally quickly. The food was terrible and I do not say this lightly… The only thing that would enjoy eating this food is the bin. My partners quote is “I wish I could go back in time 30 mins and told us not to pull off the motorway for some food, no idea how that place has 4 stars”

We keep stopping here on our way to Perth. I'm this the atmosphere I guess, it is good to make a break here and relax a bit.

Liked this place for ages. Simple food - perfect for a quick travel stop. It's been done up since my last visit. Prefer the last incarnation but the food is as good.

Love eating here but today 2/12/23 you need to crank up the heating it’s freezing in the grill noticed the same a week ago and week before that. got back in my car to warm up. Starting to put me off…

Are you on the A9 and in a hurry, but hungry? This is just the right spot to get a quick bite with no fuss. Right next to the A9, with an easy off-ramp, parking right next to the door, simple and basic but tasty fare. Order at the counter, and you have your food in only a few minutes. I do not go up or down the A9 without a quick bacon roll and a hot chocolate at this place.

Huge potential but let down badly by cheap ingredients & miserable staff. Used to have a nice atmosphere with lovely, welcoming servers and good honest food. Since the refit (granted it was needed and it does look good), there’s no atmosphere now and the menu is severely lacking. The staff are completely disengaged-not so much as a smile. The food is grim & expensive. I hate waste but I just couldn’t eat it. I work hard for my wages and begrudge wasting money on a place like this that could so easily do a lot better. Sorry to say I won’t go back again.

There's been a refit since last visit, nicer looking inside but less friendly than when orders were taken at the tables. The server was quite rude when I was trying to explain my dietary restrictions and ask for substitutions saying "you can't pick and choose it has to be on the menu" , it's not rocket science to take a couple of things off a breakfast. My food arrived with items containing gluten in after all that anyway. It makes travelling and food such a problem when this happens. I don't enjoy being made to feel like a nuisance when I just want some basic sustenance.

I think they are trying to get rid of the truck drivers all together now , over priced food and drink . I ordered beans On toast as I wasn’t paying £10 for a breakfast and the price of a coffee on top. They couldn’t even get that order right ! Never again , Newton Moore all the way now .

This place used to be an authentic greasy spoon. It's now some lame attempt at an American Diner. I ordered chips, black pudding and egg. All three were undercooked and there was plastic on my black pudding. The coffee was filth. Worst meal I've ever paid a tenner for, has massively gone downhill.

The food wasn't the greatest for the price that you pay for it, although the service was quick and the staff were friendly and also offered a refill on my coffee 😁
