Molly's Yard in Belfast

Lovely little restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating. Weather was pants so we sat inside. Staff were extremely pleasant & helpful. The food was insanely good and very appropriately priced. The cottage pie with lamb shank was an absolute winner! All told a beautiful evening - great company, great food. Nice wine too 😉

I had been wanting to go here for such a long time but was very very disappointed. Good points, staff friendly and welcoming. Let downs how run down the downstairs indoor space was. It was so uncomfortable we both regretted even sitting down. Considering they had a regular Menu and a special Valentine day special we both struggled to find something we would eat and ended up choosing the same Whiskey buger which was not what I had intended. The bugger itself was nice but the bill was not work the £65.00. This included 1 drink and 2 deserts. My advice is go somewhere else more comfortable, more food options and a place you would want to spend time in not rush to leave .

Our first, but certainly not our last, visit to Molly’s Yard. From the moment we walked in and greeted by Emma- the smiling, attentive front of house- we were delighted to have made the reservation here. Emma immediately made us feel welcome, knew how to make the kids mock-tails and was fully knowledgeable on both the food and drinks menus. All four of us ordered different meals, venison pie, chicken supreme, pork loin and goats cheese; all of these were exceptional. From presentation to taste, they were spot on. The girls finished their meal with a brownie which they devoured The restaurant was small and could seat 12 in total however, it was massive in regards to what it provided. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We will be back when we return to Belfast!

Had a lovely experience. My steak was cooked to perfection. The Mrs had a great seafood chowder and the staff were lovely. Even though we had arrived early nothing was a bother. We will definitely be back soon.

2nd visit to this restaurant having been before and really enjoyed it. We'd looked at the menus on their website and were happy with the lamb dish on offer and the vegetarian choice on offer so we booked. The reality when we got there however, was completely underwhelming. The menu we were given was completely different from the one on their website. There's now no lamb but there's a confit duck leg so I had that and it was excellent. For my partner the vegetarian choice now on offer is just not to her liking and contains several elements that she just doesn't like and would never order. I have to ask for some changes to the dish and this seems to lead to almost a confrontation with the chef asking what sauce she would now like because the dish now needs a sauce as she has removed the pepperonata. The whole encounter just took away all of the pleasure for us and it has to be said that it was them who caused the problem, not us. If we'd known what was actually on offer we wouldn't have booked in the 1st place and the problem can easily be solved by making sure that the website is up to date. Simple as that!

Great little restaurant close to QUB, serving wonderfully fresh and tasty food and a good selection of wines. The food was modern with kind of an Irish twist, the staff very friendly.

Came in on a whim on route to botanical Gardens (3 minutes walk) for a light meal and glass of wine. Sat outside as setting is done beautifully. Staff friendly and attentive. For a Michelin star restaurant my expectations were high but this restaurant did not deliver at all. Went with family and we all had taster menu and it was a disappointment from the start. Every course was tiny and very bland. Everyone left still hungry and bought food elsewhere.

I absolutely loved my experience at this wee yard. The steak was ‘UNBELIEVABLE - absolutely out of this world’. One of my family members said it was the best steak they’ve ever had. Personally, I had the hake and I don’t wanna hear no hate about the hake. It was *fantastic*. Flaky and melts in the mouth. For dessert, I had the cheeseboard and port. Wow. A dollop of chuffing chutney, a selection of cracking crackers and a range of local fromages. 10/10, would recommend, deffo scrannit. (In all seriousness, it was very nice)

Quite a while from we have been here but saw the tasting menu on line and loved the look of it...also seemed good value at £35 (£30 for vegetarian).Always loved the decor and that hasn't changed, but unfortunately we were beside a window which definitely needed cleaning, but worse than that was the hairs on the windowsill.The music is so confusing it was initially quite funny...however after a while it definitely became very wearing...no flow at all, literally like someone's whole collection of all genres was stuck on to shuffle.Initially the courses came at a decent spacing however this changed following the main...it took around 80 minutes to get dessert, cheese and the bill.Overall service was average, unfortunately we had to ask for drinks and water to be topped up as we were never asked if we needed anything. Likewise at no time were we asked if everything was ok.The food was generally very good, however I am not sure the chef actually tasted the pickled onions served with the mackerel...it was actually painful on the roof of the mouth. My biggest complaint about the food had to be portion sizes. I know it was a tasting menu but aside from the soup and the dessert, the remaining courses were ridiculously small. Certainly not good value and tbh the veggie option is probably better value given the significant lack of meat/fish.We ordered coffee - an americano and a cappuccino - the americano was fine but unfortunately it did seem as though someone had forgotten to add coffee to the cappuccino, it was like drinking warm milk.Unfortunately all of the above when the bill is £84.50 means it is extremely unlikely I will be making a return journey.

Haven't been at Molly's Yard for a while, but we went for a meal with friends for our wedding anniversary, based on previous enjoyable visits. As on other occasions staff were friendly, service was good and the food was tasty and well presented. Nothing to find fault with really, other than the fact that it's significantly more expensive than it used to be. We'd come back again because we don't mind paying a bit more for a special night out but I won't be adding Molly's to my frequently-visited restaurant list. There are lots of other places where you can get an equal or better meal for much less.

We spent the final evening of our holiday here and it was certainly a case of saving the best until last. Everything was faultless. We chose to have the tasting menu, one of us meat, one vegetarian, and both were impressive and a pure pleasure to eat. Places are nothing without great staff and again Molly's Yard excels. A special mention for Roisin and Siobhan, thank you for your amazing hospitality. The place itself is unique with a perfect contemporary and relaxed atmosphere. Next time were in Belfast, we will most definitely be back.

What an amazing find. Having spent a few days in Belfast we discovered Mollys Yard and enjoyed lunch there one day. It was so good we returned the following evening to sample their first class tasting menu which was a real delight and the taste and flavours where outstanding as was the service. Excellent value for money and first class service. A big thank you for the Wheatan bread it is greatly appreciated and we look forward to eating it

We stopped by here as it looked cool from the outside and the menu looked good. We just had soup and chips with drinks - they have a lot of local beers which is interesting. The food was nice and the lady who served us was very friendly. We'll have to come back some time to try dinner.

Had a fabulous meal here today with my four sisters. We had gone to see David Copperfield at QFT then on to Molly's Yard. What a brilliant experience. The staff were amazing and made us feel so welcome. The food was exquisite. Martin was just the best host we could have asked for. We enjoyed the ambience and just felt we were part of the Molly's Yard family. We will be back. I cannot recommend this venue enough. Thank you to Molly's Yard for a memorable experience.

We had a fantastic meal in this small intimate restaurant. Relaxed, no rushing of the food which we have found with some of the other restaurants in Belfast. Lovely local produce and menu, great selection of Irish dishes. One of the best ribeye steaks I've ever had, and plenty of it! Wine menu good, and reasonable.Servers were cool under pressure from a large party who arrived late, and offered us apologies and a free drink for any delay in service (which didn't faze us at all!) Thanks so much, Molly's Yard - we'll be back!

This restaurant was recommended to us when we were having an overnight stay in Belfast on Thursday 30th January.. Excellent food and drink, served by very friendly, and helpful Kirsteen. Compliments to the chef for the food (we only intended to have 2 courses, but ended up having 3!) and the choice of background music. Not often you get local music in a restaurant. Overall, a great experience.

We decided to go here after listening to my brother and his mates heap praise upon the food. Myself and friends were genuinely excited. We had looked at online menus and thought....yes great finally a decent sounding vegetarian and vegan menu...we did have meat eaters in the group but isn’t it great to have vegan needs catered to. The restaurant itself is quirky and quaint, clean and almost warm enough. I can only say had I ordered the starter that my friend received then I would have complained. It sounded good. Crostini with pickled vegetables....what showed up, at a stupid price given what was on the plate, was a slice of toasted bread....small, three tiny pieces of pickled cauliflower and what looked like three strips of carrot removed with a potato peeler....and the obligatory leaves and pea shoots that actually accompanied most of the meals so it wasn’t even integral to this dish. Did it taste phenomenal....no. It tasted like someone who has no idea about decent vegan cookery just shoved something in a plate. My main also sounded hopeful ...potato and mushroom bake with hazelnut praline and chilli jam. I should have realised that again it was just someone who doesn’t have a palate throwing things at a vegan. The praline was indeed straightforward praline and it had no business in the savoury plate. This was literally just potatoes and mushrooms sautéed down in what tasted like a bitter white wine sauce. Sugared nuts blitzed on top and a spritz of chilli jam- that at least gave some flavour. It was so disappointing. The Thai veg curry however with soda bread....it was worse. It was honestly like they forgot the Thai spices and out came veg in a bland milky sauce. The soda bread accompaniment was hard, dry and perplexing. Why was it there. I’m not sure anyone tasted this food before it went out. This is not an inexpensive restaurant. These are not big portions. I’m not sure what it had going for it at all. The staff were inattentive....in the end I had to find someone and ask for the bill as no one came near to even ask if we were okay and I can’t say it was madly busy hence the staff avoidance. Those of our party who had meat. They said it was fine. They were still hungry at the end, they wouldn’t go again but at least their food had some flavour. Mollys yard is a great spot. It has great potential. As for my group....we won’t be back. Of all the many places in botanic I have had much more flavoursome dishes in umi falafel, tribal burger....even subway. I recommend that the chef tries food there....try the Asian spices in jumon in Belfast....try Bo Tree Thai for the curry. Try anywhere other than here if you want something other than meat. Sorry guys. When I find good food I praise it to the hilt. It takes a really disappointing place and dish for me to comment.

We were very pleased with our recent experience in Molly's yard. A party of 3 we were sat downstairs in a very small dining area, only 3 other tables, the fire was on, it felt super cosy and personal without being intrusive. Food was very good, we went for 3 courses, nothing we can fault. Service was very good.

Mollys Yard has gone down hill since it first opened. Service not great and needs tightened up a bit, food was ok and expensive. I note that the management aren’t on here replying to reviews so there’s no point being any more specific. Little things, but they all add up.

This is an unusual venue, as once through the gates entry there is the feeling of entering the past as you walk down a narrow entrance to gain access to the lobby of the restaurant. The floor area is not very substantial at either level, ground or first floor, although the first floor has more seating area and I usually request that location if possible. The bar is on the ground floor - hence the less seating capacity. The food however, whatever the menu records, is always tasty. It changes regularly but I can safely say I always find the meals tasty, whether fish or chicken which are my favourite. The beef eaters however praised their meals and nothing was left on the plates. Filling enough we could not manage a desert - after starter and main. Liqueur coffees were an excellent way to finish a meal in a pleasant environment and the staff were helpful before and after the meal including chasing up the taxi booked.

Four of us had a good night out on my wife's birthday.The food was good, the staff were pleasant and they have Real Ales on draught. We don't get to Molly's Yard that often but when we do it's always been enjoyable.

I picked Molly's Yard in Belfast after reading the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor (and because Molly is my granny's name) and it definitely lived up to it's fab reviews! It is a beautiful place down a little lane way with an intimate, warm feeling from the minute you walk in. The host was gracious and attentive, the cocktails were perfect and the food was amazing! I am going back to Belfast just to experience another evening in this wonderful restaurant!

We tucked into Molly's for dinner with our toddler, the service was great, the selection of local ales was good, and the Grenacha was one of the best I've had. We ordered four appetizers - breads, scallops, mackerel pate, and gobolga, and we finished up with a cheese plate for dessert! Great price point and excellent service!

We were a little worried when we arrived as the place was dark and looked closed. But the clue was in the name, go through the yard and there you are!

First time in this restaurant for all of us. Really enjoyed it, very cosy place to eat. We ordered off the 5-10-5 menu available before 5pm. Ordered beef brisket linguine starter £5, cod special £13 and chocolate brownie £5. Everything was really tasty and the wait staff were attentive and friendly.
