Extortionists! I attended a wedding in September at this hotel. The bride and groom after months of multiple staff changes and messing them around the owners of the hotel decided that the agreed upon rate for the wedding was too low and they had to pay an additional £5k THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING or "your wedding is not happening"! Contract be dammed apparently! After a very heated argument this was resolved but not the end. The rooms that had been booked for the wedding party months in advance and were part of the agreement were "double booked" and told that there is another hotel in Coleraine they can go to?!! Convenient isn't it? This is just my speculation here but it seems like the attitude was "may as well get a double payment for the rooms and get that money back"! This sad story doesn't end there. The extreme unprofessional behaviour of a woman named Brenda seen by wedding guests screaming at the bride ON THEIR WEDDING DAY was absolutely shocking. Some people should not be customer facing. The mood improved once this woman disappeared for the evening and a good night could try and be salvaged. The response from the owners of the hotel? No surprises there that no offer of compensation despite them not receiving all of what was promised or the stress this has caused them. I have to call out Chris who was clearly trying to salvage the mess and resolve it. He was a god send. Bar staff were also polite and great fun. The people that run this "cute, quirky venue" clearly don't care as long as you line their pockets and they will get it any way you can. If you want a venue that will charge you what they feel like, don't honour contracts, threaten to cancel your wedding and scream profanities at the bride on their wedding day this sums up this hotel quite nicely. Save yourself the stress, do not book an event with this hotel!

Bar and Front of house staff were lovely and fantastic. Regrettably while I was attending a wedding, management made it widely known that they were not happy with hosting the wedding, or facilitating the guests. I was chatting to a family who were wandering through the wedding as they had been told by management to come in and wait to be served at a table, which was being cleared at the time to make space for the dancefloor. They were mortified to realise they had been sent into a stranger's wedding to take a table. Again, the staff on the day were fantastic, but it shouldn't be on them to go the extra mile just to cover the owners/managements shortfalls.

I attended this hotel with my partner for a friend's wedding recently, and I was shocked to witness the level of unprofessional conduct from the hotel management. The couple getting married were accosted with hidden additional costs there were not included in the price they were quoted, and they were threatened to have their wedding cancelled on the day before if they didn't pay the additional amount. Alongside this, they were met with rudeness across the day. The management bypassed the wedding couple and asked their photographer for access to their wedding photos to be used for the hotels social media without enquiring about permission. The above is only a fraction of the issues they faced that day. What was to be a wonderful day celebrating the marriage of my close friends was met with bitterness, rudeness, and an overall lack of taking responsibility. The one saving grace was the constant professional attitude of the bar manager and their staff. They were very helpful and always available across the evening. I wouldn't let the aforementioned issues taint their hard work. Bar staff 10/10.

A wedding is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life! However thanks to this so called luxury boutique hotel our friends wedding day was soured. The day before the wedding whilst trying to relax, the couple were called and demanded to pay an extra 5K otherwise the wedding was cancelled, even though their original contract had no mention of this. On the day of the wedding the manager Brenda (she was also the one who threatened to cancel) was just awful, so rude and blunt. She told the couple that they shouldn’t have got it so cheap-this is not the couples fault at all, it was decided by previous management and was all in writing. The fact that since the bride booked this venue back in October 2022 and the management has changed 3 times and that says it all. The high turnover of staff here speak volumes about the poor service and quality of management. The problems didn’t stop there as the hotel then decided to double book two of the bridal party rooms and then had the cheek to say that the bridal party should find different accommodation all the way in Coleraine. This Brenda also tried to go behind the brides back and try get her photographer to take pictures of the rooms for social media and take away from the photographers time with the couple. When the bride tried to talk to Brenda about some of the issues listed, she was sworn at. No customer should ever be sworn at let alone a bride on her wedding day! The only saving grace was Chris who was nothing but helpful and this one star is for him and him alone. This hotel didn’t deserve the honour of hosting such a special day for our friends.

Stayed here last night and have nothing but good things to day about this hotel. It's fun, quirky and spotlessly clean. We had dinner in the hotel. I had the braised beef and my partner had the the chicken both dishes were delicious, plus the apple crumble with custard and ice cream was to die for. On top of all that we had the bubbliest server Carla. She was cheery, friendly and welcoming. Thanks everyone for a lovely stay.

Unfortunately there's isint a zero above to review the manner in which I was treated by hotel receptionist Brenda! I had previously made a booking on May 4th with a lovely girl Michelle for July 27th for my birthday trip. I rang up last week to confirm everything and was informed Michelle was no longer a member of staff and the manager told me that the price I was initially quoted was "wrong" I explained that this was the price I was given and he informed me that he'd have to check it out and get back with me as soon as possible. I waited a further few days and no response.... I rang up on Sunday and was met with an extremely rude receptionist her name was Brenda ..... I tried explaining to her the situation and the price I was initially quoted she would not let me talk and her response was and I quote: "You will not be getting the room for this rate ok you cannot expect to have a room at that rate "! I was totally shocked in the manner which she spoke to me and I tried to explain that Michelle had verified the price previously to which she replied "Listen I don't care your not getting the room at that price no matter what you say !" To say I was upset and shocked in the manner she spoke to me is an understatement! I previously worked in my own family business and I would never ever dream of talking to a customer in that manner! I told her I didn't like the manner in which she was talking to me and she replied "I don't care " and hung the phone up! I was in total shock and rang back to speak with the manager but again I got Brenda she told me the manager wasn't available and said listen if you ring back here again I'll blacklist your number and call the police! I was extremely upset and this stage and I said I want to talk with the manager asap to which she replied I am the manager and I said you said previously the manager wasn't available so I said you lied and she replied "so what if I did your not getting the room at that rate" again she hung up .... I rang back on Monday morning and was chatting with the manager. I explained to him what had happened with Brenda the receptionist and he was extremely shocked and apologized on her behalf said her behavior was unacceptable. He said he'd investigate and talk with her and ring me straight back . This was Sunday and I'm still awaiting on him to return my call!!

This is our fourth visit to this wonderful place. Each year we go for a girls break. We had an absolutely fabulous experience. Amazing staff from the wonderful cleaners to the friendly and obliging waiting staff to the tremendous reception staff particularly Brenda . We couldn’t recommend a visit to this hotel highly enough. Well done and thank you everyone for making our break wonderful .

Awesome night good service and good food

Great place for nice lunch with options a little different than usual. Service was excellent.

The food was tasty and serving size was generous. Unfortunately my duck was overcooked and the service for ordering and drink delivery was very slow. The decor in this place is overwhelming and garish, I didn’t know where to look.

What more can I say amazing experience. My husband booked us in for our wedding anniversary this place did not dissapoint. I loved how friendly the lady on reception was a proper people person. So welcoming on our arrival and full of fun on our checking out. Decided on room service for dinner was the best option as I am suffering a hand injury and a little embarrassed on my lack of knife skills. So easy option was a burger!!!! Oh my it was so tasty and quick to arrive. We where in room 21 Maralon Monroe room attention to detail was on point. So mutch to take in still noticing the finer details next morning. Then to finish off with an amazing breakfast husband had eggs bennidict, I opted for traditional fry and again outstanding hollandaise sauce 10 out of 10so thick and creamy. Overall I now know what the hipe is amazing night away staff, accommodation and food all top notch. Thank you for our amazing experience The Haggan's ❤️

Excellent. Very high quality al a carte menu. We found the pork belly and steak to be superb. Decor in the restaurant and bar area great. Highly recommended.

Wow,what a fabulous place, the decor is superb. Michelle was very friendly and welcoming on arrival. Our room was wonderful. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Best whisky sours ever. Very highly recommend to others and we will definitely return.

Was in for food tonight and the place was extremely busy but the chris the manager was able to get us a table and the bartender Jamie made sure we got our drinks very promptly considering how busy it was, food was totally unreal one of the best meals ive had in years , well prepared menu by very skilled chefs and the service was next to none the staff will go out of their way to help you with anything,this place is a must try for anyone visiting the northcoast

Myself and wife visited Portstewart for the first time today & called into Me & Mrs Jones for a late lunch. Service was great & food was amazing. Highly recommend the Korean Chicken ‘small’ plate.

Had a booking today Easter Sunday for 6.30 and on arrival an hour in advance spent 10 minutes waiting to be served at the Bar ! £11.20 for a glass of wine! We were eventually seated by 7.20 after having asked 4 times! An absolute shambles as had to wait another 15 mins before the offer of our order being taken. People with bookings after ours were seated first - no organisation or awareness of customers waiting! Shambolic and we left ! All round a dreadful experience and we certainly won't be back!

Weird and wonderfully wacky hotel and decor. Only downfall was the dinner. Bit over expensive for small portions

Had my 18th birthday party here, lovely area and great for summer and spring but will never forget the unbelievable service here. We accidentally left 2 of my birthday presents and a balloon pump at the venue which was happily taken care of and was brought to reception, my dad and I realised the day after and called immediately and was told they were waiting at reception carefully, we went in to grab back the things we forgot and was told they had no idea where it was and to come back another time, I came back again a couple days after and were extremely suspicious with me and rude and never even looked for my items and only started to when i was there, were really friendly and helpful until i told them what I was looking for then suddenly looked really guilty and wouldn't make eye contact with me anymore. They told me to leave my name and number for a 2ND time (because they didn't bother to call or save my number the first time) They said to come in again another day which i did, they said they could not find the items even though we were told they were at reception but suddenly weren't there anymore, I was extremely disappointed as these were important presents to me and I left my number AGAIN to give to the manager (who also did not call us). After months of waiting and asking, I proceeded to ask one of the bartenders around my age that admitted that someone probably stole it or gave it to someone and they don't want to admit it to me which seemed plausible as they were leading us on and lying to us for months. Please don't trust this place with your belongings and don't trust the staff either as they clearly like to take things.

Beautiful place quirky but well put together.
