My friend and I have now done quite a few wine tasting with Simon at the Manchester Wine School and we've thoroughly enjoyed them all and are planning our next ones! Simon is very welcoming and knowledgeable and it's great to learn all about the various wines in a relaxed and happy atmosphere with no stuffiness or snobbery to be seen! We will absolutely be returning soon!

Learn way more than I thought during my online version of WSET Level 2 course. The tutor was brilliant, very knowledgeable. School staff were very helpful. Definitely considering doing a Level 3, but a bit later I reckon. Thank you to Sarah and Izzy for replying all my emails and helping me out.

We did the ‘I don’t know much about wine but I know what I like’ 3 week course as we always find we drink the same few wines and wanted to learn a little more. The course was educational but fun and we learnt more about how different wines are made and tried some wines we would never have bought on our own. Even enjoyed lots of cheese and rosemary crackers alongside the wine. Thanks Simon, we will definitely do another course at some point in the future.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable day doing the one-day WSET level 1 wines course with Jason as the tutor. Jason's a real fount of knowledge when it comes to wines, his passion and enthusiasm really shine through, sharing both his academic knowledge and also anecdotes about his experiences visiting different places, tasting a very wide variety of wines. The course materials were more than sufficient and gave us a lot to learn on the day, but Jason brought the learning to life, talking us through the tasting experience, which was fascinating - and delicious! It was quite a lot to take in, considering the exam was at the end of the day, but it's a multiple choice exam, so it's not too daunting, and I've just found out I passed! Will definitely be back for some of the tasting events, and perhaps the level 2 course. And I especially appreciate that although the course was fully booked when I originally enquired, they managed to squeeze me in at the last minute due to a cancellation, the week before I flew out to Bordeaux to do a digital marketing internship with a wine tours company through the Turing Scheme. À bientôt ! Santé ! 🍷🙂

I was gifted the 8 week round the world wine course and loved every minute of it. Every week we learnt about a new region (France, Italy, South America, Germany, Australia etc) and tasted 6-7 wines with snacks. It was very informative, fun and made me want to dive even further into the world of wines. We had 4 host - Phil, Jack, Kelly and Simon, all of which were brilliant, patient, friendly and a fountain of experience of knowledge. Highly recommend doing one of the events and courses here as you won't regret it - I've already book myself into more!

Fantastic day at the Manchester Wine school. I attended the WSET Level 1 course in Manchester which was led by Jason. Jason made the day easy going and light-hearted, mind you he did show his sterner side when the exam arrived in the afternoon. All in all this was a fantastic experience and a great insight into the world of wine. I will have no hesitations in booking future courses with Manchester Wine School.

Did my Level 2 wine course via their online option. Was excellent. It's a full Zoom meeting type course with others: I'm more able to guarantee that would be free for a couple of hours on a Tuesday evening much more than whole Sundays/Mondays. Means it takes longer to complete but still get the whole group learning experience like your own questions and those of others that you hadn't thought of, answered there and then. Shame there's not currently the same online option for the Level 3 but think, as it's a lot more in-depth, probably best to do that one face-to-face.

I booked Manchester Wine School for a hen do party and Phil was fantastic! He brought a great selection of wines (and cheese!), he was super knowledgeable and the tasting was lots of fun. We included a little a taste test game within our selection of 8 wines and the team also created a personalised booklet for the day, with a photo of the bride to be as nice keepsake. 100% recommended for any private event. Thanks again!

Life changing. There aren't many things in life that can attribute to changing your life. Perhaps quitting smoking and jumping out of an airplane may be considered life changing, setting your life on a new fresh path. I hoped to curate a new start with WSET Level 2 at the hands of Manchester Wine School and my tutor Jason. The classes were fun, exciting, and at times serious. There were moments of excitement trying new wines and there were some stressful moments leading up to the exam for myself. The knowledge passed on to me was great but the education instilled by yourself is the most important part. The exam was difficult-ish but really happy and surprised that I passed. The school has an extremely high passing rate. If professional certifications aren't your thing, they do wine tastings and other fun educational activities that you can spend your money on besides clubbing till 5 in the morning. All in all, I had a fantastic time, even so now relieving the memories that I know will have changed my life forever. Here I am now, to taking my level 3 soon and who knows maybe even go all the way to MW!

Great course delivered in Manchester city centre. Easy for me to get to from Liverpool on a Sunday morning by train. Great fun doing WSET3 - and passing! Our tutor Richard had extensive experience including still working in the trade as well as teaching which I think is a great help for those doing the exams professionally as well as those (like me) who are doing it as a hobby.

Just completed the WSET Level 2 course with Manchester Wine School. They have been excellent from start to finish. Jason, our course tutor, was not only extremely knowledgeable, but also just totally down to earth and made each part of the course fun. I've now completed the WSET Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in Wine with the Manchester Wine School and couldn't fault them. The communication in the run up to and post exam was great. My tutor was Jason on both occasions and he was so lovely and friendly, and really great at running through the curriculum. My Level 2 exam was postponed due to covid-19 but even when I attended for my final day when restrictions were in place, the room was laid out in accordance to social distancing guidelines and Jason was great at ensuring everyone maintained the rules. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend MWS and would love to do my Level 3 at some stage, so will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic experience of the 8-week wine tasting course of lessons. Our sessions were held on a Thursday evening at the Jury's Inn Hotel and each week we tried 6 wines, with nibbles including cheeses, biscuits, grapes and meats to accompany as a snack. Each wine is between £5-25 and the majority around £10-15 so accessible prices. They have great flexibility when you can't make a particular session and both Jack and Phil who ran our classes were both non-pretentious, had great knowledge, and a real enthusiasm for what they were doing. They don't sell wines, which must be made clear. We've made some lovely friends and overall it was a brilliant experience. If I chose again, I would definitely say the 8-week course was a good length to go for because otherwise you're just scraping the surface with one session, which it is possible to take individually.

The measures were very generous and the bottled water much appreciated. We are already planning our next tasting!

I had arranged this for my wife and I as a first day out after having our son. It was hosted at the National football museum. It was ideally located next to Manchester Victoria Train station (less than a 5 minute walk). We were greeted by Nick who was knowledgeable and informative but took the laid back approach to giving you a one day crash course in wine. The course itself started by being greeted by a glass of champagne. It had a mixture of whites, reds and one rose and was a whirl wind trip around the globe. It went into detail about each area wine comes from and what that area brings to the wine. The food included with the course was of a high standard, we went for the chicken main and cheese cake option. All served by friendly and professional staff who catered to our every need. Before this my wife and I were typical weekend wine drinkers who normally grab any bottle on a Friday night to help unwind. I feel now I that have more of an appreciation of wine and was a good starting point if you want to know the basics. Another good point of this was that all the wine picked had come a mixture of supermarkets and wine merchants. This meant there is no pushing of wine selling on the day. I will certainly be picking up a couple of bottles that I tasted this week on our weekly shop.

I attended the level 2 WSET course taught by Lisa over spring-summer this year. I was a little apprehensive going straight for level 2 because, even though I have attended the University of Manchester Wine Club for the last 10 years, I didn't feel confident that I had enough knowledge to skip level 1. A discussion with Lisa reassured me and it was the right decision. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the course, and even got used to early morning wine appreciation! Lisa's teaching style is laid back, being neither overly relaxed nor stuffy and snooty. She really put the group (11 px aged ~25-40) at ease. She is extremely knowledgeable and interesting and paced the modules perfectly. The central location (top of Urbis) was lovely, allowing the natural light to help with the WSET systematic approach to identifying wine. There was also a separate room available for lunch and coffee breaks. The course materials provided are more than sufficient (at this level) to gain an understanding of wine making, main grape varieties and regions etc, although I did make use of a few apps and websites to broaden my knowledge. I was really apprehensive about the exam, but the revision time and mock exam really helped and I was chuffed to bits to get a merit 😃 I'm not sure I'll carry on with level 3 at this stage, but I'd certainly bear it in mind in the future.

Lisa is a fantastic host, she made it really informal and informative, and she made speaking in front of a group of strangers look easy!
