Maki Zanmai in Leeds

Beautiful restaurant, deserves to be packed every night. We ordered crispy wan tons, tempura vegetables to start followed by king prawns on a sizzling plate & chicken chow mien, both delicious. Flora is very friendly & pleasant.

A great menu with a combination of Japanese and Chinese food. The food was EXCELLENT, good quality, well-crafted flavours and good portion sizes. Between us we had vegetable tempura, vegetable gyoza, chicken bao bun, octopus balls, chicken satay skewers, Thai red king prawn curry, chicken katsu don, crispy beef in honey and sesame, king prawn satay. I managed to scoff a bit of everything and loved it all. The service was a little slow but good in every other respect.

A friend and I went here upon a recommendation from a colleague. We went on a Saturday night in March. The restaurant looked lovely from the outside and very welcoming as you enter. I couldn’t believe how big the place was when we went in, it was huge. The layout is very nice and the decor is lovely. It’s finished to a high standard and is decorated well to the influences of the cuisine. The bar area is very swish and looks lovely. The service times were rather quick, but it wasn’t very busy, which probably helped. There staff were attentive as there was a disparity between when our meals were ready due to cooking times but they did check how we would like to be served which was rather thoughtful. The food all looked lovely when it came. It has clearly been plated with care and style. We had the sushi, satay chicken, salt and pepper chips, Japanese tofu starter and a typical Chinese sides. All the food was lovely. If you’re unsure how a meal will be cooked I would advise you to check. There are Chinese and Japanese ways of cooking and the dishes are prepared differently and so may not be what you expect. There is a service charge which we weren’t aware of which amounts to 10%. The toilet areas were clean and well decorated too.

Called in to this place for a takeaway. Very good food and lovely inside. I then called back another time and ate inside the restaurant . Again the food is superb and the service is very good. I will definitely be back and i have recommended it to many of my friends. If you like chinese food or sushi give it a try.

It was our first visit for my daughter's 16th birthday. The food was gorgeous (we had a mix of Chinese and Japanese food), the service was perfect and the environment was beautiful. Highly recommend and we will be returning. Thank you

I went here last night as a party of six, including two children, to celebrate a family birthday. The table was booked at 6pm and when we arrived the restaurant was not busy. The drinks and starters arrived. So far so good. We then had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes for the main courses. It was clear that the kitchen was understaffed and was providing takeaway meals as well as food in the restaurant. The owner was constantly on the phone dealing with takeaway orders. The staff were apologetic when we asked how long the food was going to be, but the long waiting time spoilt the evening. The food was good when it eventually arrived but I won't be going back.

Group of 6 arrived early on a Friday night. Immediately welcomed and shown to a table with comfy seating. Extremely welcoming & attentive staff took drinks orders & talked us through menu. We ordered lots of dishes to share around over 3 courses. Food came in good time, was fresh, perfectly cooked & so-so tasty. Everyone commenting on how good the food was, with staff always on hand for more drinks orders. Overall, a really pleasant experience and good value.

Went here for a family birthday. Friendly service, food was excellent. Can’t believe this place wasn’t full - complete hidden gem and great value for money. Will certainly be going back again soon

Arrived for a pre-booked family meal on a Friday night. Only four tables taken in quite a large space. We were warned straight away that food would be 20 minutes, as they only had one chef! We agreed to wait. The food took nearly an hour, though when it came it was tasty and nicely presented. A nearby table grew tired of waiting and left. Staff were lovely people but didn't know which dishes were vegan (apart from those labelled as such). When asked if various items were vegan our server said 'probably'! We struggled to find someone to ask for the bill and pay. The non-stop power ballads did not enhance our experience! It's a great shame but I really can't see this business lasting long.

Visted Maki Zanami on a Saturday night. Lovely tasty food, attentive staff, fantastic oriental decor inside. Well worth a visit.

Have been a couple of times now to this gem of a restaurant once at lunchtime and then on a Saturday night ! The food is gorgeous, so tasty and the service is spot on !! Highly recommended

Booked a table for 19th July on 19th June for our 3 year wedding anniversary. Arrived at the restaurant to find it closed. Quick look on Facebook and they had made a post the day before to say they would be closed due to the heat. While I appreciate why they were closed, it would have been nice to have received a text or call to let us know rather than finding out on the doorstep. Really disappointing considering the food I’ve had there on past visits has been wonderful. This has definitely left a sour taste and I may not visit again.

Beautiful restaurant, only the two of us in there but it was during the week. Fabulous food, the service was excellent, we’ll definitely visit again. I had 2 courses for £14.95 and my husband had 3 courses for £18.95 They also serve an all you can eat on Sundays.

Delicious food. Great service. Great decor and atmosphere. Really enjoyed our meal and will return soon. Would be good for bigger groups too.

Just had a takeaway from here and I was really impressed. Big range to choose from and arrived quickly and piping hot via uber eats. Had crab bao buns, salt and pepper squid and chicken gyōza. All delicious and looking forward to ordering again!
