Quite possibly the best breakfast we've bought in ages, even my fussy little dog agrees

We visited for breakfast a couple of weeks ago, while on holiday. Lovely little find, lovely staff and above average customer service, just like it used to be ! The food was well cooked and presented, delicious. Highly recommended !

Very nice country cafe . Went there with all bike gear on & was welcomed no problem. Friendly staff & had a bit of a chat while waiting for the food. Will always go there when out on my bike. TOP MARKS.

Lovely coffee shop/cafe. Food was very good value for money and tasted lovely. Only problem is there appeared to be no toilets in the building. Would have been 5 stars with toilet facilities.

Visit regularly always great, but the hours of opening are getting less and less.

Proper Welsh café serving good honest "Welsh" breakfast cooked to perfection 👌🏻. Latest member of staff is an Essex "immigrant" who after two "house sitting" assignments decided to stay in the area. Highly recommended in every way - 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all round 👍🏻

Cafe was cold,the all day breakfast was limited as mushrooms and hash browns were at an extra cost. Small portion,mushrooms cooked to extinction. Disappointed 😥

Good café and obviously much used by the locals. You'll get a tasty breakfast here. Check the opening times which are a bit restricted and note that it is cash only.

Laid back old school Welsh cafe, nice hearty breakfast cooked fresh very pleasant staff I even got a treat my egg burst so I got another definitely one of the best breakfasts I've had in Wales

I like a good "greasy spoon" cafe, and this is a good one. The only other customers were eight workmen in hi-vis jackets, making short work of the hearty breakfasts. Had a veggie fried breakfast and it was good honest food that set you up for the day. Be aware it's CASH ONLY. Welsh is widely spoken by staff and customers. With the help of Google I quickly learnt the Welsh word for 'thank you' so that was my parting goodbye. I got a reply in Welsh from the member of staff. I can't tell you what she said, but I like to think it was 'you're welcome'. (Sorry, no photo of the food. I was too hungry!).

Food was terrible and they can’t make a cup of tea

We sat down and were told by a local customer that table service. A member of staff just stood in the back talking to the kitchen staff and never acknowledged us. Customer service very poor. Sal iawn, fyddai yn dod nol.

Old fashioned but service is very good and friendly. Food is nothing fancy but is fresh, well presented tasty and ample. Breakfast and lunches are particularly good. Not the cheaper but after visiting area frequently for 20 plus years it is best value for miles. Readily recommended.

Thank you for letting us have a late takeaway at 5pm - so we could enjoy your wonderful spinach and chickpea vegan curry as an early dinner in our holiday accommodation later. It was absolutely delicious! And the lasagne my daughter had was great too.

Stopped here on my way from Snowdon and felt I had stepped back in time. Which for me was a wonderful thing. So good to see a busy high street with lots of local shops rather than super markets who ruin high streets..so good to hear so many people speaking Welsh.. Will definitely call here again if in the area.. food was great, Service was excellent.

A really good bacon sandwich & coffee made with milk (!!). Excellent bacon. A good traditional cafe. I’ll definitely use again on my next visit to Machynlleth.

Friendly staff and good, wholesome home cooked food. We have always had a lovely breakfast when we have stopped here on the way to visit relatives in West Wales. The home made eccles cakes are amazing and the best we have ever tasted!

Grim. They told my wife she couldn't pay by card. So she went out to get cash. Went to place order. Only then did they say they weren't serving food.

A very Welsh cafe. Very clean inside. Service was slow which annoyed me but when opened my sandwich I could see why. It was made fresh with decent ingredients. A very nice sandwich. Wished I'd had two. I would call in again.

Maengwyn cafe is a decent sized old school Welsh greasy spoon, I especially liked the aprons the staff wore, made me nostalgic of the old Welsh housewives with their wipe clean pinnies. Clean with friendly staff. The food was great, poor quality bacon can destroy the enjoyment of a breakfast but these guys served us up two phat slices on the plate with the rest of the usual suspects. 10/10 would eat here again.

Ok cafe. Good choice of standard cafe food but value for money variable (I wouldn't pay almost five pounds for a baked potato with cheese again in a hurry).

Went in to see if they made sandwiches to take away. Brought the sandwich back to the caravan and found a catering blue plaster in the bottom of my sandwich

Went in at lunch time (about 1:30) on a Saturday and was told no filter coffee left, somehow wound up with a cup of instant. Friends ordered food which they said was ok and it came pretty quickly though.
