We were visiting for a Halloween event and park staff suggested we call in to the cafe. The girl with with tails behind the counter couldn't have been more ignorant if she tried. We asked for tea and she actually rolled her eyes and tutted. The family in front of us asked for a slice if apple pie from the stand beside the till and she barked "were not serving it". When my sister arrived 10mins or so after us, she asked what tray bakes they had and the girl scoffed " there over there". Absolutely shocking behaviour, we were made feel so unwelcome. Ridiculous really when they're charged what they did for two teas in a takeout cup!

We usually only look for a bowl of soup at lunchtime when we have travelled some distance, and although there was only type available, it was very satisfying and did the job. There was also a range of sandwiches and traybakes available.

Hi visited café on the 23rd August... it was lunch time and there were no sandwiches pre-packed, no salads and the service was awful... staff just looked really confused. We ordered soup and it was dreadful whoever is making it must not be tasting it we had to give it back and ordered a sandwich which was another ordeal. The only one who seemed to be working and trying her best was the lady who was making the toasties....it kind of spoiled the day for us!

Choices pretty bad, soup or lasagne, that's it. Painfully slow service. The person who served us even talked pretty slowly. The food was fine though. Better go anywhere else if you're in a hurry or fussy.

I recommend bringing a picnic - chaotic and poor Went for lunch @ 1.15pm on the Mayday Bank Holiday. Such a poor choice available. No soup left, a few sausage rolls, about 6 packs of crisps and some tray baked style treats. You could choose sandwiches and ciabatta's from a list. Ordered a plain sandwich, a toasted sandwich, and a ciabatta. Close to finishing our food we later saw someone get stew - though this did not appear advertised anywhere. Service was incredibly slow despite at least 4 staff on shift. Staff appeared clueless and had to continually check what was available. Sandwiches arrived and one was not toasted as requested. Returned and requested toasted. Got the same sandwich back, toasted, after 4/5 minutes. But as they had quartered the sandwich when it was first served up, the bread was super hard when subsequently toasted. The staff were all very young and were, no doubt, trying their best. But really it needed someone managing the place.

We went to the loaf cafe after a long walk. It was a group booking of 15 people. To say we where disappointed was an understatement. We had to wait so long for teas n coffee,no milk at the tables totally unorganised and lack of urgency probably 2 speeds dead slow or stop. We had to fetch milk, remind staff or the one member of staff about teas and coffees the others must have been hiding out the back. At one stage I felt I was working there. I think they need to get there act together otherwise people will not use this cafe. Next time I'll bring a packed lunch. I definitely wouldn't like to see how they would cope with a busy lunchtime. We only had scones teas and coffees and that was a challenge. Definitely wouldn't recommend visiting. A tip use decent cups not old fashioned white cups you would find a village hall small details make all the difference. I really hope things improve 🙏

We visited the cafe for a quick lunch after the museum. There was only one person in the queue ahead of me but it took 20 mins to place my order for a bowl of soup and an Irish stew. I was told they had no stew so we saw the jacket potatoes ready cooked and ordered one instead. There was no list of toppings (two were included in the price) so I asked. The assistant went into the kitchen to ask and came back with a list so we ordered cheese and chicken. We paid and were invited to sit down and a few minutes later my pumpkin and parsnip soup came with a piece of bread and some butter. It was very tasty. I finished my soup (twice asking waitresses about the potato) but had to wait a further full half hour before my husband got his potato. When it came it was small and had the smallest spoonful of shredded chicken and a minute amount of grated cheese. At 6.95 euros it was very overpriced. I have never seen so many servers looking so busy but doing so little. One waitress carried a cup of tea to a table then went back for the milk then went back, checked the order, and brought out a piece of cake. Another brought out two bowls of chips, came back with two sausage rolls and then came back a third time with knives and forks. They did have trays as one waitress used one to bring out two bowls of chips. Another came out from the kitchen, collected a bowl, went back into the kitchen and came back with it filled with chips - surely they could keep bowls in the kitchen by the chips? Another went into the kitchen and came back with tongs with which to pick up a sausage roll. We were told (on asking) the potato would take 5 mins to cook but they had plenty of potatoes keeping warm; they must have taken half an hour to cook a tiny amount of shredded chicken. They were polite and the place was clean but the waitresses need training; the soup was being kept warm and could easily have been brought out at the same time as the potato.

Had lunch with my little daughter. We both opted for a sausage roll and salad and a tray bake and drink apiece. £18 was paid for all the above, not too bad at all really. Portions were descent and the food was tasty and well presented. The staff did a good job and everyone we encountered was pleasant. Our only real issue was the seasoning of the sausage rolls. They were very peppery for my child. I was more than happy enough but she couldn't really enjoy it. His wasn't a deal breaker and was more personal preferences.

Had a great late lunch here. The staff are super friendly. Very happy to accommodate my vegetarian son. Got him a great artisan veggie sausage roll with a lot of interesting salads including couscous, noodles etc. Also checked if he was vegan. The rest of us had stew. Was terrific and v tasty served with nice bread. They also give you the opportunity to have tap water. All in all an unexpectedly great lunch. So glad I didn’t bother to pack a picnic!

I don't like criticising but a few basic changes could make this a great spot. We had lunch on Saturday and a few things disappointed. Staff need to be more friendly - just a smile and a hello. Some training needed. There was no atmosphere - could background music be played? Portions were small for the cost. Irish stew was mainly gravy with a few pieces of meat/potato. Very shallow bowl used. Kids sausage roll was very spicy and so child could eaten it. Big bits of pepper on the top. Side salad - smallest spoon possible if each salad. Quiche was not from that day. Be a bit more generous with portions and do something about the atmosphere. The folk park is fab and this could add to the experience. Thanks.

Only down fall was that (I think an co owner) Jessica took my coat out after I forgot it an didn't recognise me from working together a few yrs bac but this can be forgiving with the food and few beers we had.. Plz give it a visit if in the area..
