We booked a table for 4 on a Tuesday night. The restaurant itself is really cute, the interior is very nicely decorated and they even have some outdoor tables. Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The menu is limited which we quite liked. For starters we had the shrimp which we were really impressed with and then the bacon wrapped figs, these were a little underwhelming. For main we all had the crab pasta, the portion was a generous size, there was a good amount of crab and you could taste that the pasta was homemade. We were too stuffed for dessert! I’d say that it was all very delicious, my only drawback would be the prices of the pasta dishes. Overall, it was lovely and would recommend a treat and homemade pasta!

Discovered by chance it was a revelation. Truly Italian cuisine prepared by a chef of Umbrian origins. You will only find appetizers and first courses but you will truly feel like you are in Italy. Almost all the pasta is handmade by the chef. Maybe not exactly cheap but it's really worth it. The very nice place is not large, about thirty seats so booking is almost a must. We will definitely be back. A little hidden place but in the center so easily reachable on foot. In a city where burgers, fish and chips and kebabs reign supreme, it's a real treat

A nice little restaurant hidden in an alley which gives a nice atmosphere. The food was really good, but for me the portion could be a little bigger. Desserts - masterpiece. The prices are quite high, but I understand that you have to pay for the quality of the products. The menu is small, but everyone will find something for themselves. We will definitely visit this place again! Delicious authentic Italian food.

This is a hidden gem in the centre of Northampton. The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is exceptional, and the chef/owner is one of the nicest people you are likely to meet... and you WILL meet him because he personally checks with every single guest to make sure that everything is okay with their meals. A proper Italian restaurant, staffed by genuine (and very friendly) Italians. HIGHLY recommended! 10/10

Very pleasant relaxed atmosphere when we arrived. We started with cocktails; the mezcal margarita was excellent, the mojito watery and lacking in energy. Neither of us were prepared to finish it. We shared pallotte cace e ove. The balls were badly oversalted but the cheese sauce just about compensated for this. The main (special board) was green tagliatelle (overcooked) with sundried tomato (sauce) a pesto and various other elements which were largely mixed up on the plate, with no “definition”, and arrived cold. The other main was white tagliatelle with nduja. This too was overcooked and cold. The design of both dishes lacked textural variation, badly cooked, and carelessly presented. The wine was excellent (bio chianti). When the waitress came to ask how our food was, my partner told her exactly how it was. She was disappointed to hear we had not enjoyed the food and kindly offered dessert on the house which we declined, and left. I don’t think we will go back. Northampton has a limited number of dining options, but in the course of our first few weeks in the town we have found two other Italian restaurants which are far better in the same price range.

Amazing food, best gnocchi I ever tasted! The fresh pasta, the wine, the espresso coffee, it all made me feel home. Best chef in town!! Cena magnifica, complimenti allo Chef!

I had lunch here with my partner and daughter and the food was amazing. Prawns to start, the sauce they were with was one of best things we have ever tasted. Gnocci and a pasta with mushrooms and truffles for mains, both were beautiful dishes as well, presentation and taste. Also the bread with dipping oil was a great way to start. We'll definitely be back.

I had tiger prawns with cherry tomatoes (Gamberi) and Millefoglie ( puff pastry with egg custard with cream and berries on top) They were both very tasty and I finished the meal with an expresso and a double limoncello The service was excellent as well as the background music

What an amazing find ! If you haven’t tried it it is a must ! We had the most amazing meal from starter, main and cheese board. The wine menu was rich and fruity .. could not fault a thing ! 💖

Just visited this restaurant as my uncles were in town and they fancied a nice Italian. This place is tucked out the way which makes it feel nice and secluded despite being in the middle of town. The food was very tasty. Me and my other half had the sharing meat and cheese platter which had a lovely selection including little bowls of chutney and pickled onions. I had the ravioli for my main which had a runny egg inside which I loved, and my other half had carbonara which had these wonderful crispy juicy pieces of bacon in it. All 5 of us agreed it was scrumptious food and would happily return. The only thing I will mention is for myself I found it quite pricey. The portions you receive are quite small, which is nice if you want to have 3 courses without feeling too full. But I feel the prices are quite high for the size of the meal you get. I know my dad was surprised with the small portion on his plate when it arrived when it was £21. I know quality over quantity is more important in a fine dining restaurant, which is why I still give 5 stars. But others who like to eat larger portions may need to double up on their servings. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting exquisite Italian food :)

One of the best Italian meals I've had in Northampton, apart from my mother's.

Such an amazing restaurant, we both absolutely loved our meals the best pasta we have ever eaten! The homemade limoncello was the best we'd ever tasted and the melon & chocolate versions of it were so good too, we left with 2 bottles for home! The chef was absolutely lovely and came and talked to us & the handmade white wine biscuits were brilliant. We will definitely be coming back and are recommending this place to everyone we know! Amazingly good value for money too, still can't believe the cost.

I was really impressed by La Trattoria. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. But the strong point of the place is undoubtedly the cuisine. In particular, the pappardelle stuffed with ricotta and mushrooms with truffle sauce have just become my new obsession. I highly recommend this place to all lovers of good food! A true hidden gem!"

I could not be more complimentary of the pricing, Chef, and service at this restaurant. We were greeted warmly, shown to our table and advised by a wonderful young server. They were generous with the wine and portions. The Pappardella Ripiena di Ricotta e Funghi, Salsa al Tartufo was a delight! We were treated to a trio homemade liqueurs and a lovely conversation with the Chef learning more about the region of Italy that he called home. Truly a not-to-be-missed establishment and the highlight of our short time in Northampton.

Fantastic. We visited on a Saturday evening in December and were very impressed. The food was exceptional and the service was spot on. A real hidden gem and just what Northampton needs. We will be back soon!

I don’t think a lasagne has ever moved me to tears before. We picked from a reduced Christmas menu, but from what I experienced, the food at La Trattoria is simple Italian home-cooking done incredibly well. It transported me straight back to our friend’s mothers house on our first trip to Italy many years ago, hence the first sentence. Great waiting staff; felt very well looked after, and the atmosphere was lovely. Genuinely felt like I’d left Northampton for the evening. Wasn’t cheap, but I could tell where the money was going and it felt perfectly reasonably priced for the quality of the experience. If you’re looking for high end, restaurant style food this probably isn’t the place. If you want genuine Italian cookery and the feel of being there, this place is great. And for goodness’ sake please NEVER take that parmigiana off the menu Davide!

First time here celebrating my birthday with family. Food really was amazing, the service was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was so charming and authentic. All three courses were delicious, I have never eaten spaghetti like it and my wifes Gnocchi dish, wow. Our desserts were Tiramisu, mille-feuille and chocolate fondant, all incredible. Nice to speak with the chef and a nice touch serving us his homemade liquer. We have some good italian restaurants in Northampton but this really was on another level, it has certainly raised the bar. Highly recommended!

Seriously great experience. I am rarely happy to pay the bill in restaurants but this time it was one of them. Food was great, wine was amazing (Pecorino highly recommended) and the service was very warm and attentive. I was born and bred in Italy, and I absolutely recommend La Trattoria in Northampton.

Went here for dinner last night with my partner and I can honestly say it's probably the best Italian I've been to. The food was perfect and the service was exemplary, probably won't of the best I've experienced anywhere in the world. Whilst it is perhaps more expensive than some of the other Italians in the area it feels like a steal when you're in there. Couldn't recommend this place more highly! A true undiscovered gem.

Given other reviews, we had high hopes for La Trattoria, but sadly found it to be quite average compared to other places. A limited menu didn't spoil us for choice and the pasta wasn't served very hot. Waitress was very pleasant and polite.

We visited La Trattoria for our wedding anniversary dinner. I think it may be my new favourite Italian restaurant in Northampton (and I’ve been to a lot!). This authentic Italian restaurant has a cosy atmosphere, the staff immediately greet you as soon as you enter the door. Both members of staff were very friendly and attentive. Topping up glasses, when low. The quality of the ingredients is exceptional and the portion sizes are generous. It’s quite unusual to have a restaurant which makes much of its dishes in their own kitchen. The handmade pasta was delicious and leaves you wanting a few more mouthfuls after it’s done! I would highly recommend people check this place out and it maybe it’ll also become your favourite Italian too.

Had a really lovely lunch today at La Trattoria!! We were lucky to be the only people in the restaurant and felt extremely looked after!! This place deserves to be packed! Food was delicious and clearly made from the heart. Staff was attentive. It was a very pleasant experience. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived until we left. We will return.

Dinner for two last night. Had heard great things about this place. So, had to try! Was very impressed and will definitely be back. My partner said the amaretto sour was the best she had ever had. We had an amazing time at La Trattoria celebrating my mums birthday last weekend! The food was just delicious, the service was fabulous, the staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much for them! Big thanks to Davide who went above and beyond to accommodate us all! Excellent quality authentic Italian food. Rarely can you get pasta dishes of this quality outside of Italy. Davide the owner is a great host. Highly recommend.

Davide, the owner, spent many years in London and Europe learning all there is to know about fine dining experiences. He’s finally settled in Northampton and he brings all the real Italian flavours to Northamptonshire. We went with our family over the bank holiday and his carbonara is to die for! And if you get chatting, remember to ask to try his local Abruzzese cheeses because they will blow your mind - truffled Pecorino is to die for. Plus there is care and love in his aperitif and wine choices. A home away from home for him and his guests!

This is very overpriced for worse than average food: both pasta dishes dry & lacking in flavour and / or imagination. They have no idea what they’re doing when it comes to good. It’s a cute spot & the staff try but I’d not recommend this place at all.

Quiet lunch period but staff hospitality good and flexible

Fantastic. The food is excellent, in addition to the service. Really nice atmosphere. Not many covers though, because of which I would suggest you book a table rather than not. We were able to get a table because of a cancellation, so lucked out. First time I've been, though the friends I was with had been several times before, and I'm very much looking forward to my next visit! I go to Italy a lot, and would say it rivals a lot of the best I've eaten there.

The most authentic Italian cuisine I've had outside of Italy. The pasta was properly al dente, not over cooked like you always get here. Cooked to perfection in a immaculately decorated little restaurant. Server was one of the most attentive I've ever had

Wonderful authentic little Italian restaurant in the centre of Northampton and in a lovely mews location. We had an early dinner so first there and the staff were lovely. We had a chance to chat with the owner Davide and learn so much about the delicious menu and the food from Abruzzo. We had 3 fantastic courses. Atmosphere was great, loved the Italian music, took me back to the 80's when I was a kid! Definitely worth a visit and we'll be going back again!

Went yesterday, really simple but pleasing interior with outside seating in a quiet walkway which adds to the atmosphere. Service was excellent, food and drinks menu was varied enough whilst not being daunting with options. The food was authentic and delicious. From olives and bread, an aubergine starter to the carbonara, tiramsu, espresso and melon, it was exquisite. Can’t praise the staff higher for their politeness, attentiveness and speed of service. Will definitely visit again and recommend.

ABSOLUTELY stunning little restaurant owned and operated by a very passionate and talented chef ! The staff are really attentive. Nut allergy? No problem for them, they take special care of the food to make sure it is not contaminated with nuts. Everything is made from scratch, fresh, with the chef/owner putting in 15 hours a day. I didn’t catch the name of the lady that was serving us but she was very friendly. We will be back. a pleasant and intimate little venue tucked away in town that serves some of the best food we’ve ever had!

As soon as we discovered this restaurant we were keen to visit as there is a lack of authentic Italian food in Northampton. We visited on a Saturday night, the restaurant was busy and had a nice atmosphere. We were a party of four so ordered several starters to share, everything was delicious especially the beef tartare. For mains they just have pasta dishes which are sized with the intention of one per person, all of our party really enjoyed their dishes, the only slight disappointment was when I took the option of adding truffle to the carbonara, the amount given was really stingy, I appreciate it's a very expensive ingredient but I'd rather pay more and get a reasonable amount. We ran out of space for desert, just one of our party ordered ice cream which came beautifully presented and they said it was very nice. This is a lovely, little restaurant offering something a bit different and we will certainly be back.

Best authentic Italian food in town! We visited on a Sunday afternoon and had the 3 course menu. Every single dish was to die for - everything was made from scratch, so much flavour and the perfect portion sizes. The rigatoni carbonara was particularly sensational and my husband was a huge fan of the meatballs. The chef is so talented. Not the mention, the restaurant itself is lovely, nice atmosphere and the staff were so attentive. Will 100% return!
