A lovely evening booked for my 60th with many friends and family. The team were amazing, service was fab. Food was fantastic huge portions think we all took food home with us. Even the chef came to ask if everything was okay with the food, don’t get that everywhere. Couldn’t have chosen any where better to go. Thank you so much Nick and your amazing team. Esta es una joya rara de encontrar en esta área. 4 de nosotros disfrutamos de la noche con un gran personal que me sirve bistec y probablemente el mejor bistec que he tenido. Gran placer de comer. Mi esposa también tenía filete de corte diferente. Su hija tenía pasta de langosta. Vaya, lo intenté. Deffo teniendo eso la próxima vez. Su compañero tenía pasta de pollo. Tuvimos unos entrantes muy agradables, así que muchas comidas fantásticas. Viajamos más de 40 millas bien vale la pena. No te decepcionarás aquí.

La comida y el ambiente eran increíbles y los olores eran increíbles, tenían una comida italiana increíble y algunos de los mejores sabores de comida italiana que he tenido y he estado en toda Italia, PERO las porciones eran demasiado grandes y no podía comer todo, lo califico 5 / 5 estrellas de cualquier manera!

We went to La Anchor for my sons birthday, it had been recommended by some of his friends. We were not disappointed! The service is excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. The food? Well it certainly exceeded our expectations! The portions are huge, all freshly cooked and simply delicious. Myself and my granddaughter were given containers to take the food we were too full to eat home. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be going back and will recommend to our family and friends.

Excellent food - very generous portions! Would recommend sharing certain starters otherwise you'll have no room for your main course (although a doggy bag is offered!) Friendly staff in a lovely family run restaurant.

We called here today for lunch - we hadn’t booked but they were super friendly and managed to find us a table for 2, We noticed doggy bags on the tables so decided to just go for mains and then save room for pudding. We had the fresh pasts ravioli ragu and a seafood spaghetti and then a garlic bread with cheese to share. We were so impressed with the quality of the food and the portions were huge. This is the best Italian food I’ve had in the UK. The ravioli was absolutely delicious. We just didn’t have room for desert! All the staff were lovely, very friendly and service was amazing. We will be back with friends but will book as it’s easy to see why this was busy.

Slightly disappointing with my 28oz steak when it came it was swimming in blood and grease on plate as it hadn't rested long enough very dissapointed as I'd payed 30 quid, also had a pepper sauce but as it was swimming in blood didn't use it told a staff member just said sorry didn't do anything about it

Been meaning to eat here for quite a while now after glowing recommendations and it did not dissappoint! Nice village setting, great looking building, nice fresh modern decor and lovely attentive staff. Could have literally ordered anything off the menu or specials board. The garlic mushrooms were incredible definitely recommend. The pizza and carbonara equally as impressive and huge portions! Chef came out to ask if all was OK. Only chefs who are confident in their produce and skills do this! Very impressed and will be back to sample the amazing steak dishes another time asap.

Came here to celebrate my birthday with a group of 9 of us in total. Staff very accommodating and helpful in serving us all what we wanted. Food is delicious as always and I love been able to take home leftovers to have the next day.

Yet again an amazing experience to celebrate my mums birthday with the family. Food was outstanding and we are always looked after very well whenever we come.

Can not fault the food and service here. Best Italian food we have ever had in a restaurant . We always have a starter portion as our main course because the portions her are generous. We mostly have pasta dishes here but my husband always has the calamari. Generous portion always cooked fantastically. If I was being picky we found the noise level a bit much when large family parties came in. Not sure what anyone could do about that? Service as ever was 5 star. Quick service of all 3 courses Lovely and hot with plates that were hot. Highly approve of them you do not always get that in restaurants we have been to recently. Looking forward to going back. Wish we could book online but can only book by phone when they are open.

Such a great place for dinner! Pasta was as good as any we've eaten in Italy, and the portions are *very* generous! Highly recommend the seafood risotto special. Delicious!

Amazing food and service, friendly warm atmosphere. The food does the talking you will not be disappointed. Good gluten free choices even calling a few days in advance to check they where very helpful and reassured they always have GF options. Just book and go find this gem for your selves. But I can cook that at home…not like this you can’t 10/10

We had a lovely evening with friends, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was plentiful and delicious. The service by the waiting staff was fantastic. I would highly recommend and we will be booking to come back.

We visit La Anchor regularly for family occasions and it’s one of our favourite places. It’s ideal for my mum who is coeliac - lots of gluten free options. We recently visited as a large group to celebrate a big birthday and everything about it was seamless. All the food came out at the same time - no mean feat when there’s 20 people to serve!! The food was delicious, bar service very fast and service in general amazing. The waiting staff couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly and attentive. Thank you to all for a lovely meal and a wonderful afternoon/evening.

Visited when staying locally. Restaurant was very lively early on and we were glad we had booked in advance. Good choice of dishes including specials. Some vegetarian choices but staff seemed happy to make alterations to dishes. Most members of the party had lasagne (both beef and vegetarian) and these were considered excellent with very good sized portions. The pasta dishes also went down very well with the party. The puddings were superb and were double the size normally served in restaurants (ice cream was huge). All were delicious. Overall very good experience and a nice way to start our holiday with the family.

Mysel,f wife and family were here last night to celebrate her 20 years service award from work Love this place, what great food and service. One thing I have to point out is that you should go here hungry, the portions are very large to say the least. The food is all home cooked and piping hot, err nuclear hot lol. Traditional Italian food pasta pizza etc, but a lot of other choices on the specials board at reasonable prices Good selection of drinks at the bar. This restaurant is a family favourite of ours! We have come many times and all I can say is never once have I been disappointed! The food is always tasty and the portion sizes are very generous! Staff are always pleasant and welcoming. Great and fast service too! See you again soon!

We were lucky to get it, its a very busy place for being in a small village. There were 6 of us. We ordered prawn cocktails- two portions between three of us. Huge king prawns and plenty for three. Calamari, creamy prawns and ravioli ragu (a starter portion). All delicious. Main course we went mostly pasta and one pizza. Again very tasty all round. No skimping on ingredients either, all the prawns were Kings and the steak in the pasta Nicola was proper steak. Lovely welcoming staff and you can see into the kitchen and the cooks were on point. Heartily recommend! Bring your appetite.

The staff are so friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Make sure you are hungry when you go as the portions are very generous. There is a lovely atmosphere at La Anchor , no loud music or people shouting over each other to be heard. An altogether great meal out.
