Kinloch Arms Hotel in Angus

It’s probably a great place to pass out after a night at the pub downstairs. But not remotely relaxing after a long day on the road. Pros: clean room, lots of parking, close to a market and the beach Cons: floor shaking music starting after 10pm, absolutely no hot water, not even warm. Tap water isn’t safe to drink so if you’re thirsty get some at the market, the room only has 1 liter. Check in is done through the bar staff so other than trying to get the music turned down there’s not much assistance for anything hotel related.

Only giving one star as I can’t give less!!. The only thing in its favour is the location

We stayed here for 3 nights, I think these people have no idea how to run a hotel. The rooms were borderline clean. An old towel was still hanging behind the bathroom door. On booking they promise a traditional Scottish breakfast included even though they absolutely do not do breakfasts. One evening we came home and the radiators were set to 30 degrees... The boss, not at all friendly and very directive! Although we are used to traveling, we have never seen this! Very noisy too, pub customers shouting in the street until 1 a.m., windows not insulated and very busy road. Avoid!

A random choice for lunch turned out to be a great idea. Very friendly, good selection of beers, and super fish and chips. Dog friendly.

I’ve been going to this pub for years now and I’ve always loved it and thoroughly enjoyed myself everytime I visited, that was until the old manager rob left and everything went downhill after the new manager started. I visited last night at about 7pm, went to the bar, got a drink, sat at my table, had a couple sips of my drink (VBL) and then proceeded to go to the toilet, while I was in the toilet doing my business a stranger started banging on my door (which obviously gave me a fright) asking if I was being sick, I can understand why she would have thought that as I have a chest infection at the minute and my cough sounds horrendous it sounded like I was being sick but I wasn’t, but why on earth is a stranger banging on my toilet door in the first place? A bit of privacy and peace would have been ideal and I wouldn’t have been sick as I only had a couple of sips of my drink, I was completely sober at this point. Everything was fine until about 9pm when the manageress decided to tell the male bar staff that was working behind the bar to refuse me drink as she said I had been sick? (Obviously referring to earlier in the toilet) male bar staff and manageress wouldn’t even let me explain myself, explaining to them that I hadn’t been sick and the male bar staff was having none of it, wouldn’t listen to a word I said, so rude and abrupt - both of them! didn’t believe me, refused me service even though they had literally been serving me all night with no issues? Absolutely ridiculous. So I basically got refused for absolutely nothing! Getting accused of something you haven’t even done is disgusting! Not a way to treat a customer, especially one that’s a regular from the area that has supported the pub for so long!!! Disgusting. Well done on losing a customer :)

Was a few months ago I visited. A toilet was badly blocked but sorted issue fast

Only visited the website to get a phone number for a friend but Google has asked for a review. Support local businesses ! So 5 stars all round!
