Stands above most chinese take aways for quality of food and ingredients.

Food is ok, but very pricey for what it is. Portion sizes appear larger than average, but this is because they give you extra rice. All in all the food is ok, but extremely poor value for the money they charge. I will not be giving them anymore custom.

What's happened to the Ki-ban? Haven't been for a few years but prior to that we were regular customers. Decided to get beef curry, fried rice, chips and pancake roll as we always had a nice Chinese curry from the Ki-ban. It was too thick and congealed. Edible but not as good as our local Bejing House or anywhere near what it was like when we were regulars.

Been going to ki-ban for over 20yrs. Gone very downhill. Tried to make a phone order (cripsy chicken wings in hot & spicy sauce (no 18) part of order. Last time I ordered this didn't get chicken wings, got chicken pieces so wanted to confirm getting the right thing this time. The person kept talking about salt and pepper chicken and chicken with chilli sauce - not the same thing! What I wanted has been on the menu since the day they opened and still on the menu. In the end he told me not to come back and put phone down on me!!!! I'll stick to Jade Garden up the road

Although food is generally OK customer service is rubbish especially when you have a problem with the food chicken satay was disgusting and unbelievabley bad even when I complained its like they knew... Gone downhill from days where it was excellent, dissapointing and looking elsewhere in future.

Ordered a big order for the family however the food which was picked up (2 minutes drive) was cold and the taste was terrible. I complained to the gentleman in charge and he re-assured me he'll sort it out the next time I order. I’ve been going to this establishment 2 years plus. I decided to go back and make another order in person and tell the staff member my experience etc he went out the back and had an argument with a female lady wearing glasses (manger/cook?) they decided not to honour there word. Sad situation as the food was half decent until they abysmal experience. Won’t be ordering from there again. Poor service poor food 👎🏽

I must agree with the other reviews that poorly rate this Chinese shop. Egg fried rice was soggy. Salt and chilli wings had LARGE chunks of tasteless chilli pieces. No Flavour. no effort no customer service. No hand washing in between handling different meats . Will not be going back. Takes money in exchange for bad food

Update 01/12/2023. I'm not sure what has happened but Ki Ban has really gone downhill. It used to be the best takeaway for miles but not any more. I ordered the meat free minced pork and vegetables. It was veg in a very watery gravy and veggie sausages thrown in. Load of rubbish. Also very abrupt on the phone when I was ordering the meal because he didn't know what I was ordering despite me reading it to him several times. They obviously don't know their own menu!

Food was very mediocre, not to the quality you'd expect considering the prices. Crispy shredded beef wasn't crispy at all, was very pale and sauce was too watery. The two cheapest items, chips and curry sauce were the saving grace of the meal. Only tried after a recommendation but doubt we will use again. Should have read the recent reviews beforehand.

Am writing this review in discuss ,I normally buy a full duck pay around £20- £25) so when something is advertised as whole and there charging £29.50 and waited 30 minutes for preparation it all fitted in with historical purchases from other Chinese takeaways but last night 25thOct ,we got home having purchased £65 worth of food found we had 2 plastic containers of shedded cardboard dressed up as duck - we have been ripped off ,will never ever use this takeaway again Ki Ban 510 Hagley road west Quinton B680BZ .

The Crispy beef was luke warm and very pale, in very watery sweet chilli sauce which was like a pale jelly. Nothing Crispy about it. More chewey. It looked re-heated and was disgusting to be honest. Never had such pale food. It was the worst Chinese I've had in years.

Only popped in as didn’t have a lot of time. Had chow mien so dry it’s still stuck in my throat! The man serving me didn’t even look at me

The food was very Dry and tasteless, certainly not what it used to be.

Poor! This used to be the best Chinese not sure what’s happened but it’s gone down hill. The food tasted bland and we all ended up with a stomach bug won’t be ordering here again. Such a shame as it used to be the best

The best this side of Brum hands down! Plus you can ask for your food to be cooked in rapeseed oil as a healthier option. Fresh and tasty food, has not yet failed to impress me or misses.

Not sure what's happened to Ki Ban, must have changed management but the food's nowhere as quality as it used to be. This is my second meal over the last year and it's been extremely disappointing. Food very greasy, bland, leaving me with a feeling of nausea and my son was very unhappy with the mixed meat curry..what a crying shame, been using this Takeaway for years. Wasted my money but it won't be happening again!!!!!

worst Chinese i've ever had chips were horrible rice was tasteless S&P prawns were too salty and don't get me started on the sweet and sour chicken never in my life have i seen a chinese do S&S chicken in balls full of batter 😭 waste of £20 been in birmingham for two years and not one chinese ive been to could match any back home in liverpool it honestly doesn't deserve the 1star

Been told about this place for a few years. Finally made it and it did not disappoint.. not your standard greasy Chinese.

Customer service non existent. Asked if they cooked a certain dish was completely ignored and told to wait outside the shop while they cooked the food definitely won’t be back here very rude staff

My food experience has varied from here, although overall falling on the good side. The fried rices are on the blander sides, whereas the ribs or sweet and sour dishes are flavourful. Clean place though and definitely within the top Chinese's of the area.

3rd time of ordering from Ki Ban and the food and service is always first class, we wouldn’t go anywhere else now. You have to collect as they don’t deliver but for this quality of food it’s worth it ! Well done Ki Ban

Fantastic food. Just had sweet and sour king prawns and I've never eaten anywhere that fills its dishes with so many prawns and main ingredient. Have been shopping there for nearly 25 years and drive 5 miles to continue to do so

My favourite for Singapore noodles (vermicelli). Also great ribs. Just wish they delivered

We've been using Ki Ban for about 7 years.and loved the food. The last 2 orders We've made have been wrong. I'm sure they have new Owners. We ordered over the phone. Then went to pick order up. got home to find it wrong . I went over the order 3 times we the the Person on the phone. When Ordering. When i rang. Then rang up to complain about the order and found the Guy on the Phone Rude. I went back and changed my order. He was still arguing with me then. won't be going back in the future.

Probably the best takeaway in Bham. Been using them for about 10 years and never had a bad meal. Bit more expensive than the others but you get what you pay for.

Terrible customer service. They missed items out of my order, called them to explain what had happened to then have the phone put down on me twice. I then went to ki ban to resolve the matter to then get told I'm lying about the order and he didn't put the phone down. I'm absolutely disgusted with the customer service. the place was the best Chinese to go to before it was taken over. Would NOT recommend! I would give a 0 star if I could so disappointed.

Beat Chinese takeaway I've ever been to (and I eat Chinese every Saturday night and have done as long as I can remember). Was a regular customer here for the whole of my childhood until we moved slightly further away and we have not found any to replace it, food feels light and healthy instead of sticky and thick like other Chinese takeaways. Still travel over this way now even though it is a further distance for us. Unbeatable as of yet.

The service was very quick. But any sstisfaction we felt was replaced by disappointment when we got home and saw that the food was practically fried to a crisp, it was tasteless and portion size was miniscule! We will certainly not buy from there again.

Based on my 1 visit (so far), somewhere between a 4 and 5 star for me but happy to rate 5 star, as up there with some of the best places I've visited, if not quite the best. Food is very good and is reflective of the price, which is above average. A few appealing, bespoke dishes on the menu, which is usually testament of the best Chinese takeaways. The lady who took my order could have been a little more personable, but not to skew my overall rating of the establishment, it’s the food that counts On the same note, just a quick one for those leaving 1 or 2 star reviews for what is clearly a very good takeaway - pls don't, yes you might be upset that a delivery was late or something was missing in your order but for the benefit of others pls don't use this as an opportunity to vent your frustration. It just doesn’t make sense to say that the food was good (or not to dispute that it was) yet at the same time give a 1 star rating. Even a Rustlers microwaveable burger is worth more than the one star

LOVE the Ki Ban.If there is a better takaway in Birmingham i haven't found it yet.Its a little pricey but well worth a visit. i promise you will come again once you have tried it!!

Polite staff never had a bad meal

A regular however the woman at the till makes the entire experience miserable. There are usually 2 women. One is AMAZING and the other is the complete opposite. I always order the same thing and she always tries to charge a different amount and quite rude . If it wasnt for the food I wouldn't travel 1 hour on 2-3buses for this.

Used for first time after the great reviews, asked for curry sauce specifically with chow main, got home 15 mins later and they gave sweet and sour sauce. Disappointed.

2nd time ordering from here tonight, 1st time few weeks ago was great. Tonight not so good. The woman on the phone when we ordered was miserable, my partner arrived at the allotted time and a woman came in and pushed in front, even though both orders were phone orders. The assistant said nothing. So it was 10 mins before he was given the bag. Then the assistant didnt confirm the payment and walked off. When we got to eat the food, all the starters were cold and the 2 mains just warm and not as good as the 1st time. Most went in the bin!!
