Kanteena in Lancaster

Brill night, stayed out of trouble, staff friendly enough for what they have to put up with!

We were here for the Flying Axe company axe throwing, but the Kanteena bar staff were kind enough to let us have a drink while they were still setting up. The beer was good and the atmosphere was, as always, relaxed and friendly. Loads of seating, and, at the right time, some interesting and tasty options for food. (Thai, BBQ, some other things I don't remember!)

FANTASTIC old school ramshackle vibes, as soon as you walk in you feel like you're going to have a nice time, especially with such friendly staff. The food was great (I had the burger with Brie and BOYYYYY did it filll the yearning gap!), the music and sound excellent both outside and in, and there are lots of nice little hangout nooks (e.g. the sofas in the bit between inside and out were great for a drunken chat at the night event). In the iconic words of the famous killer cyborg from the future "I'll be back" !

I love this place. Really cool venue for chilled drinks in their fab outside space and an excellent and varied musical lineup. The food that I've had there has been delicious and comes in very generous portions. . . . . . The burgers are great.

Balearic Burger have now held two brilliant events at Kanteena this year. A great venue to work with. A great crowd too. We are very excited to return next summer. Keep up the good work guys xx

We were at a gig last night and this place is a proper vibe versus other music venues! Their listings boast some awesome household names on the bill too. The outdoor area especially is a gem, colourful, vibrant and catches the sun with some fantastic food available a la pop up. Inside there’s a massive live room and the lights are on the place has mad decor throughout and is just pleasing on the eye, wholly unpretentiously. Big up the staff as well, all gems. Lancaster, you’ve got a proper spot here.

Went to the country night and was totally disappointed it wasn't as advertised. Definitely won't go again

Interesting place to visit. Busy on a hot Saturday afternoon. Beer choices limited. Worth a visit. Food van but didn't eat here.

I thought drinks where quite pricey but it was a really quirky place and enjoyed it . Should be more places like this tbh ..

This place seriously needs to address the noise pollution for the locals. It's genuinely a nice little spot but it's just unacceptable that local residents have to hear D&B until 3 in the morning. The onus is on the club to fix that.

Burger van is very slow when busy as can be expected. Decent burger though, pricey at £10.

DO NOT EAT HERE, the owner regularly uses out of date beef and products to save money. He also refuses to pay his staff. The food is sub-par when it isn't brown and stinking. For your own health do not go here

Other than it being cold outside, the band we went to watch was fantastic. They were called Hiroshima Twinkie and were different. We were only drinking on this occasion. A great venue to listen to music.

The bartenders were really rude, I ordered a single gin and lemonade which cost £4.50 and my boyfriend ordered 2 pints which were £5.50 each. Afterwards, I went to the bar to order one glass of water and the bartender tried to give me a £2 bottled water, I asked for a tap water instead which is a legal requirement of pubs and he told me to fill my cup in the bathroom whilst rolling his eyes. My boyfriend then went to the bar to ask for a water and was told by the woman that ‘they don’t mind giving water occasionally but not when someone is constantly ordering water’ considering we had already spent money and it’s a legal requirement I thought this was extremely rude and unnecessary. My friend was also overcharged for his cheesy chips and overall the food was overpriced and very average and the atmosphere was also rubbish especially considering it was an England euros match. Definitely miss!!!

Shout out to Dora, the toilet attendant who is a fearless warrior Queen and very positive person. Kicking it country was also a brilliant night, we danced until the end.

Went to Kanteena to see the Orb. Great intimate venue, friendly and casual. Quite cold though on the evening if the gig.

Lovely quirky, eclectic welcoming hippie haven. Love this place and the effort expended in making kid friendly. Super cool lancaster vibe. here would defo recommend as an alt venue for fringe fayre.

Smashing venue run by lovely people. Quirky, rough round the edges, excellent parking options (amazing for any City!), great food, great prices. Some excellent bands too see there

The event we attended was at night, no food requirements. Seemed well organised, happy atmosphere, sensible bar prices and served quickly for a full house.

I feel i have to point out the shocking lack of toilets for woman in here. We went to a jungle event here, Friday Jan 26th. The acts were absolutely rocking- no need for Ed-solo or Deekline in my eyes! The support acts killed it. Anyways! The queues for the ladies.. 🤦 We all ended up using the guys loos. No loo roll either, properly dodgy locks. It was freezing. The floor was soaking wet, even inside the main dance area. It destroyed my flared trousers with some kind of oil stamped into them? We couldn't understand the wet indoor floor and oil combo? Look, I'll be back but with the strange floor in mind. Bar prices were on but could be lower for some shot options.

Doesn't pay bands. If your band is asked to perform, request payment in full up front. If the full amount is not paid or refused, don't accept the offer to perform as there are better venues that will.

Cancelled Christmas gig with less than 24 hours' notice, so that meant we couldn't get money back on our hotel!!!! ........not great!!!

The axe throwing was really good fun. All the team enjoyed it and our host (apologies, I've forgotten her name) was really funny and helpful. She really helped make the evening even more of a laugh. Excellent! Definitely recommended.

Took my little girl and her friends to Raver tots at kanteena last Saturday. Amazing atmosphere and such a great day....mums are now looking for future gigs/nights for us!

We had a date night at the axe throwing place witch to my wife's discussed I won🤣 I didn't realise she was such a sore loser 🤣 just found out 18 years married. The staff are great very professional and friendly will be going again when we are back that way.

Beautiful sunny day! 🌞 Have had many recommendations for the Taco Thursday at the Kanteena, decided it was a good evening to indulge as the sun was shining! and as it happened, on every single table! (A rare thing in Lancaster beer gardens!) Had a very well made Aperol Spritz, and perused the menu. Everything sounded delicious, so hard to choose… but at £1.50 a taco I realised I could try them all. Started with the chicken. Who knew chicken could taste like this! Slow cooked, crispy skin, salads, spinach, spicy sauce, and a secret ingredient?? Which I later found out was truffle…delicious. Next up was the Halloumi, what can I say…. Certainly didn’t disappoint! They were so delicious, I took a take away for the hubby of the Aubergine, he’s not yet eaten, but I’m sure he is in for a massive treat! In all honesty, don’t ever think I’ve had such quality, well prepared food at this amazing price! Hats off to the chef, he obviously takes pride, and loves what he does! Thank you Kanteena for a scrummy sunny night 🌞😋

What a great venue for a gig. We went to watch the ZUTONS here Situated in what looks like an old trading yard. It's got a funky Carribbean vibe with a great outdoor area for some fantastic street food and seating. A few indoor booths for keeping the rain off. A tidy venue for live music and I hope it keeps getting well supported to keep live music alive. Beer was priced fairly with reds stripe at £5 a pint. The staff were really friendly. The bouncers could do with some improvement they came across as arrogant and a little aggressive. If you don't expect the Ritz and expect a funky friendly Carribbean live music and street food venue then you won't go wrong. Thanks for a top night .

It's all the things you could want in a venue. Would be 5 stars but the sound system isn't loud enough.

What an insane and incredible venue this is! Get the festival vibe in the middle of the city! Good beer and good feelings combine to make this an incredible venue.

Great use of an old Brewery factory - has lots of potential and will be great for the city of Lancaster, it is exactly what is needed in the area and hopefully will bring in some real class entertainment in the future.

Played a show at this great rock venue on 11/02/23 and were made very welcome by Pablo & the team and the fantastic Lancaster audience. Sound engineer Glenn from IAV did an excellent job getting the show set up - we look forward to coming back soon!

OK vibe and decent amount of regular events on Drinks are extortionate though with the cheapest drink ,Heineken costing £4 making pre drinks at home or spoons a must for Kanteena

Brilliant night out in an unusual location

Really great alternative venue, lots of interesting stuff happening.

It was really refreshing to find somewhere with such a laid back atmosphere in town where you can take children. We went on firework night and there were free art and craft activities that the kids loved. The food was great, huge portions, really tasty and a good price. It was vegan too. We all loved it and none of us are even vegan!!

Good location, nice aesthetics. I didn’t enjoy the bingo, but most people did, and i can appreciate that effort has gone in to prganising it. The food was tasty, even if on the pricey side. All of the staff were very friendly and easy to approach if someone wanted help, ask a question or for a general chat.

Excellent Venue We've been there a few times great bar staff,good choice of Cider's and Beers. Really clean toilets etc even good access for disabled people toilets. The negative is there no lift up to the other music room upstairs. But we was very happy with everything else. Plus the last we went we saw Depeche mode tribute band called The Devout

Went to watch a tribute band, the devout, Depeche mode! Although it wasn't busy, the staff were fantastic and very easy to get a drink, and the place was just buzzing!

Went to the Under the sea party with my partner and kids today,they had a great time. Staff were very energetic and full of character which made all the difference. Would definitely recommend and come again to one of your events

We went to Kanteena for a stone roses tribute band. Tickets mentioned free drink on entry,, no mention anywhere in the bar, very unclear. Mixers, especially coke were incredibly watered down, and clearly the syrup has ran out. Switched to canned coke, upstairs bar understocked, no cocktail shakers or selection of drinks.

Staff brii, food very nice, venue brilliant.
