After being let down by another venue in town we decided to try the Juniper Place part of the Welsh House. Absolutely love the vibe in here; the decor, staff, great music. We had Cocktails and Pizzas. I have to say the pizzas were to die for! It's hard to find a good Calzone these days but mine was out of this world. Big shout out to Noah. I can't remember if I gave him a tip or not. I hope I did. He was fabulous as was the lovely young man behind the bar with the long hair and glasses. They made our night.

What can I say?? Christmas Eve-obviously no proper management at the venue. Clearly understaffed with dirty glasses everywhere and one person behind the bar. Took 20minutes to pay the bill. Felt so sorry for the young staff as they were trying their best. If it wasn’t for a 16 year old working so hard to ensure our dining experience was good. I gave him a tip. Places to eat are closing every day and if they don’t up their game-this will be one of them. Management get a grip and look after your staff or they’ll run to the hills.

Before going into any negative review, the waiters were amazing, very polite, very apologetic and very friendly!! Dined here as part of a large group, it was booked weeks in advance, and we were asked to pre-order. Starters and mains were pre-ordered as requested, in writing. They didn't have our orders and asked us to re-send the order through. We asked for a disabled parking space outside upon booking, this was agreed but didn't happen, so made it difficult for one of our party. One starter didn't arrive until the main course, two main courses were also late (the rest were almost done eating). We decided to have dessert, three arrived much later than the rest. The balsamic and oil given with the bread was definitely chip cooking oil, with a miniscule amount of balsamic (not edible). The majority of the mains were lovely, the starters were not. When we arrived, the tables were set up so we'd have to dine seperately in smaller groups. This would be fine, if we hadnt pre-booked. This was an important event, so we asked to put the tables together, and arranged this ourselves. Again, the wait staff were lovely

The service was friendly and quick and the pizzas were delicious. We will be back!

Wow! What a fabulous venue for a party. We had my husbands 50th birthday in Juniper Place section of the venue downstairs and upstairs (around 100 guests). The venue is decorated to a high standard, beautiful, quirky, antique vibe and attention to detail amazing. Corresponding pre party was easy through email and phone calls if we had quires. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff on the night super and pizza and sides buffet was a bit hit! Buffet cleared so says it all. All guests have sent messages about such a fantastic night. We would highly recommend this venue and can’t thank Juniper Place staff enough.

We had a long journey and just wanted to find somewhere to eat. The restaurant at our hotel isn't open until the weekend so we found this place and it was lovely. The waiters and bar staff were super welcoming. We ordered Mojitos and received fantastic suggestions which we took and the drinks were gorgeous. We then ordered pizza and it came super quickly and was stunning. We eat a LOT of pizza from lots of different places and these were well cooked, generously topped and the pineapple (because YES it belongs on pizza!) was the juiciest I'd ever had! We enjoyed it so much we immediately booked for the next day as well! Can't recommend enough and our waiter was lovely

I visited with my friend and her daughter for the child’s pizza making experience which was excellent, I can’t fault it however, my friend and I decided to make an occasion of it and have a bottle of wine with a meal. The food was indescribably disappointing. Focaccia bread starter took 30 minutes to arrive and was what I can only describe as overcooked giant croutons, I had to ask for the olive oil balsamic accompaniment, when it came it was NOT olive oil appeared to be vegetable or sunflower oil. The 2 main meals were equally disgusting, over cooked cheap ingredient without flavour, we pointed out suspicious looking bits of chicken and was given no explanation. The starter however was deducted from our bill. The £25 bottle of wine was luke warm I was shocked when the bill arrived that my individual sized bottle of sparkling water was £6. The food quality does not match the menu prices. The establishment looked grubby and unloved. Felt sorry for the staff who were attentive and polite. Wasted working at junipers.

Arrived with a retirement party in juniper place Neath on Friday July the 28th. We had to wait 45 mins for our table because we had been double booked. We then waited a further 45 mins before the waitress/manager approached us. In the meantime a chair broke and one of my older colleagues fell flat on the floor. We also was told there was no lager on draught due to a technical problem 🤷‍♂️. In the end we all had a burger and chips due to us having no faith in them fulfilling the food orders. The burger and chips was something you would have from a school canteen with a pathetic brioche bun and absolutely no flavour in the food. Lovely inside especially upstairs, but don’t get ripped off honestly

Weird, we used to go here, previously under the old managent and it was not as chaotic then. Strangely the pizzas were the same quality but cheaper 🤔. Staff were all newish but from what they said it was chaotic. I appreciate that you are trying to compete but go back to basics 👍

Had the worst experience with Juniper Place. They cancelled my wife's 50th birthday party on the day . The said that they had a power cut, but the Resteraunt was packed that evening when we passed. Also their attitude towards the problem they had caused was unapologetic, blaming the 'power cut'. The table was for for a party of 20, and we were unable to book anywhere else. Them to top it off they were unable to refund the deposit I had paid by card, and I had to go there in person to pick up a cash refund. Extremely disappointed in their service.

Far cry from previous restaurant ! I went expecting the same experience. The service was very slow I ordered a rare fillet steak / presentation looked good however when I cut I’m to the steak it was medium. I thought I would eat it however when I tried it - it was cold. I asked the waitress to take it back expecting a fresh meal - to my disappointment the chef sent the same steak that I had cut in to back it was still cold. My dinning party had eaten their food at this point - I called the waitress and asked her to take the food back and ordered two starters in its place- after 30 mins I had to ask where my food was !! When it finally arrived it was ok however very pricey for what it was , chilly prawns with dried chilli is poor for the price and and what looked like a frozen slice of Brie deep fried ! It was a poor show and a disappointing night for myself and my friends !

Out with friends ordered a fillet steak - rare - I cut in to the steak it was far from rare it was medium!! I thought ok will eat it and then I discovered it was cold, I was not prepared to eat cold food - I sent it back them waited some time. I expected to get a fresh plate of food back however to my disappointment the chef sent the same steak back out that I had already cut in to , same chips and sauce I touched the steak and it was still cold. I complained again told them I did not want the same dish I wanted fresh food. I then ordered two starters after 30 mins had to ask where it was. It arrived they dishes were ok but I think for the prices charged they need to up their game. The service was exceptionally poor !

We went for a Sunday lunch there recently. To my surprise it was almost completely empty (this would've never happened with Moruzzi before). Still, we had to wait a lot to be served, and the waitress wasn't too friendly either. The food was okay, nothing special, very pricey for what it was. The decor is great, but it is a far cry from Moruzzi, I don't think we'll be coming back.

Perfect place to any occasion to go for food or just drinks. Staff serving especially Caroline and Linda are really friendly and really accommodating to everyone and made me feel very comfortable. Sunday lunch was perfect I had topside of beef and a chocolate brownie and I couldn’t fault it. Mock-tail I had was also lovely. Thank you very much I will be recommending this place to everyone and I will be back.

Rude. Came to have a nice bit of lunch. Nipped to the loo and was absconded by a little tanned girl who was so rude about walking through the restaurant that we had no choice but to leave. She told me there was a sign but there was nothing clear. So rude. Avid this place

Initial meeting with staff was great, but was told my booking was only for drinks, despite booking lunch. Then, I overheard a woman working there that we would be in the background of photos? Luckily this didn’t happen as I wasn’t told about this when booking. Ordered the carbonara (a kitchen special) - badly cooked, came late and sauce was like a scrambled egg. I was really shocked because the pizzas and other dishes are normally fantastic. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic (dark haired gentleman) and was really apologetic, but this experience was not what I expected as I have been there a few times before.

This was our second visit to the venue under the ownership of Juniper Place. The first time was uninspiring but we thought we'd give it another go. This venue is truly beautiful however, it is totally lacking in atmosphere and the staff, although polite, have zero personality. Maybe they are encouraged to be this way? Prices are expensive and differ from what is on their website. I was really looking forward to a potato rosti on my breakfast and was disappointed it came with the standard, frozen, hash brown. On the plus side the bacon was of excellent quality although the pin wheel sausage was hard and difficult to cut. Also the dish came with brown sauce. Shouldn't the customer be asked what sauce they want? Under the Mouruzzi family this was a thriving business. It was warm and friendly and had a real buzz. Please come back.

I ordered fish and chips and it was terrible. Batter was soggy in places. Creamed peas were just frozen peas and the chips were oven chips. Cost was £18+. My wife had the goats cheese risotto which was the smallest portion and more like a starter. It was also colourless. Would not recommend

We went for lunch on April 1st, three sisters and my daughter. We had a fantastic time. Atmosphere is wonderful and the welcome is warm and friendly. Valentino, made our visit exceptional. He could teach some of the top restaurants a thing or two about good service. His knowledge of drinks, his recommendations and descriptions of the foods on offer and service is second to none, he made us laugh, and ensured that we were always attended to and wanted for nothing. The rest of the staff working that day were also really attentive and friendly with customers. The restaurant itself is set in a lovely rustic scene, comfortable and decorated nicely. It is very clean. The food was delicious. The best home made French Onion soup I have ever had outside of own kitchen, and a scotch egg starter to die for, as was the Brie. Pommes Dauphinoise side dish was delectable and the beef rib had a wonderful rich flavour. Valentino also brought us a round of cheesy garlic bread later on in the day to nibble at with our drinks. That was a very special touch and the bread was delicious. We will definitely be going back.

Booked a table for a light dinner before a concert in Neath - staff welcoming, friendly & helpful. Ordered a Moruzzi pizza & rustic chips which was as good as we've eaten in Italy! Would definitely recommend & visit again, thank you 😊

We visited this restaurant at the end of February. We had happy memories of visits there when it was Maruzzis. We were very, very disappointed. Prices were high, food quality was not! My wife ordered a pepperoni pizza. There were so many layers of pepperoni that it was inedible as served. She removed more than half of it and still found it impossible to eat all of it. She said the pizza dough was also not good. I went for a hamburger but then had to pay extra for chips! Expensive for what I had. Drinks were also expensive, service average. We shall never return, far too expensive and very poor quality. Shame as we had had high hopes.

Brilliant from start to finish, would (and have) highly recommend anyone to visit. I had booked our medium size party in for drinks and dinner for my best friends 40th. There were a lot of minor choppings and changings from our end, but Casey, the manager who I liaised with regarding my booking was so accommodating and understanding. I had initially contacted both Juniper Place and The Mine, their responses were poles apart. Casey was so friendly and helpful, the choice of where to spend our money was an easy one. We were booked in at 6.30pm, early for a Saturday evening and the venue was approx 1/8 full when we arrived. Valentin, the manager on duty went out of his way to look after us, and not just in a generic sense but personally, in relation to our party and any specific needs or wants we had. The food was fab, the cocktails were slamming, great looking venue (especially the ladies toilet with a huge full length mirror). However, my top marks for the evening go to Carolina, our waitress. She was friendly, knowledgeable, patient and attentive throughout. By the time our mains had arrived, the restaurant was completely full, yet her service, standard and upbeat personality never dipped. I spent 10 years managing cocktail bars and restaurants in London and Manchester, working in the hospitality sector is hard work, often with little reward. So glad I got the names of the employees who helped make my best friends birthday a fabulous one. Can not wait to come back again.

We had a gathering of around 35 people late Friday afternoon and you guys couldn't do enough for us. Service was fast, food lovely and hardly any wait at the bar considering how many of us there were. I booked in advance and the pre order and deposit service was easy to follow - and I was able to call easily with amendments, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks again, we will be sure to come back 👍

My wife and I popped in on Valentine's day without a reservation. Casey was attentive and accomodating. The food was amazing and the service we received was top class. We will definitely be back to try the pizza 🍕

Went 2 nights whilst on motorcycle jaunt the food was excellent and the staff great. The front of door person was great found me a seat both nights without a booking.

Poor service had no menu on the table ready not much selection for food and had to wait a while for our drinks and wasn't even that busy very disappointed the staff seem to congregate in a conversation rather than make sure the customer's are happy .

A cold, wet day in Neath and needed lunch. Someone who I presumed was the owner passed me in the doorway and asked if I'd like to see the menu. We sat at the bar, got a couple of beers and read what was on offer. The charming Valentine suggested the braised beef short rib and it looked good to me. My wife opted for a risotto, which she really loved. The beef short rib was superb - correctly seasoned, meltingly tender and deeply savoury. The 2017 Rioja was delicious, as was the post-prandial espresso. I made a bit of a pig of myself with an XO Armagnac as a digestif but it was so worth it. I've deducted a point from "atmosphere" as the dining room felt quite cold (literally) to me but, overall, a really nice restaurant. Will be back.

Ordered gome wrong!! Ordered a delivery via uber eats. Pretty much all the order was missing, the one thing which was delivered, (our pizza) looked like it had been thrown against a wall then stamped on. Uber eats delivery driver obviously didn't care at all about the food he was handling. Quick call to juniper place and the staff couldn't do enough to help. The service was honestly brilliant. Shouldn't judge people on the mistake, but how they fix it, and that's why they're getting 5 stars. Complete order was re-made, and a member staff organised a new delivery which arrived quickly. Shouldnt leave out, the Food is stunning! Thank you...Will be making booking for a table soon.

Local chain, of two, the other is in Swansea. Think a cross between Botanist and Bills - feels intimate and the booths are opulent! Food was good, perfectly cooked and delicious flat iron steak with Welsh rarebit sauce is highly recommended! Very friendly staff and so far from stuffy it's a delight! Definitely worth a visit!

Great food, very interesting selection of drinks.

We stumbled across this restaurant on a visit to Neath and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is spotlessly throughout clean. Sam our waiter is a gem (he deserves a promotion), he was friendly and attentive and gave us information about places to visit during our stay. Our pizzas were delicious everything freshly cooked, hot and good value for money. We will definitely return again during our stay in Neath

The menu didn't say every sea food was deep fried so disappointed when it arrived. No healthy options on the menu .and a bit pricey too.

Fourth visit in the last year for us and always very enjoyable. Nice decor, friendly staff and good food. Not the cheapest place to eat but good value nevertheless. Looking forward to going back soon.

I ordered the 'vegan' option (not as a vegan I might add....) and what arrived was pitiful. A handful of mushrooms & veg with about 5 noodles swimming in maple syrup. For the bargain price of £15.95....disgusted. Will never eat there again.

Oh wow. What a little gem in Neath. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here earlier. Not only did they give us a free drink to celebrate but the food was great, service was fantastic and nice ambience. Will definitely return here in the future. Thank you so much ❤

Oh dear, where do I start? Visited for my birthday with three friends. Booked for 7 pm, by 7.50 no one had taken our order. Then we were asked to move tables because the live entertainment was starting?? Moved tables to the back of the room, the table was broken, then moved for a second time. Food is ridiculously over priced, a steak is more expensive than The Ivy, so we ordered pizzas. Pizzas were delivered, no condiments, no check backs, one of the pizzas was so over done, it was inedible. Service was appalling. Our bill was reduced by 50% because of our complaints, but our evening was ruined. Such a shame, miss Moruzzis terribly 😔

Bit of a mixed review.. Firstly- staff were lovely! Friendly, hard working, chatty and polite, definitely worth the stars. Menu- we opted for the Havana menu as wanted Tapas; it was ok....most was very basic, tasted ok but wasn't really as described on the menu. We tried the Spritzers which were tasty, quite pricey for a small drink though. I'd probably go back if I was looking for a nice drink with the girls but I wouldn't rush back otherwise.

This was supposed to be a treat out for my mother on mothering sunday and I had high expectations for this place, sadly it was a let down by the poor service, management and quality of food. Lovey looking establishment but it's all fur coat and no knickers. The food was all pre ordered for our group of five and even with that information they couldn't get that right. Being the first sitting of the day I see no excuse for them not to have been set up and ready to go. Starters were mediocre. What was supposed to be a cold starter (prawn cocktail) must have been left on a hot plate or under a light and was inedible. My son said his soup was okay. Mains was tasty no thanks to the gravy and that was after everyone finally received their meals - why serve half the table to serve another table only to be reminded that you forgot the rest of our meals. The beef was atrocious, it was cut so thin and was so tough my son couldn't eat it and he eats anything and everything. Two others in the group also had beef and all said the same. My mother and myself had the pork and yet again it was cut really thin and was like leather. The veggies were nice but come on; you really can't go wrong with vegetables. The saving grace was the gravy. Dessert wasn't any better either. what was supposed to be bread and butter pudding was in fact layers of slice bread on top of eachother that had not been soaked over night in milk and was like just eating dry bread with no flavour or any sign that the bread actually had been buttered. I was going to refuse to pay for the meal but my partner persuaded me not to make a fuss. The meal doesn't justify £175 pounds worth. Save your money for a fraction of the price and go to wetherspoons because even wetherspoons serves much better meals and drinks than this place. Avoid.

Nice spur of the moment brunch. Although Valentin who served us was on his own there, he was very efficient and personable even though it was quite busy. Nice atmosphere and definitely would return.

We were lucky tonight when we checked out The Juniper Place after finding most of the local places closed. Chose small plates and shared. Food was perfectly prepared and delicious. Wait service was prompt and helpful. Highly recommend.
