Joy Inn Restaurant in Belfast

Joy inn is the first place I went as soon as I landed in Belfast, I have to say the food is basic They have a wide range of options for every preference, duck, pork, beef, chicken, vegan, fish. They have nice warm dishes for a cold winter as well I asked for about 5 different dishes and 2 entrees and from a foodie opinion I’d give it a 6/10. It was decent. I've been to a bunch of Asian restaurants and I am quite aware as how some dishes should taste like and this one was just not hitting the spot as it should But cheers Joy inn was the first place I went as soon as I landed in Belfast, I have to say the food is basic They have a wide variety of options for all preferences, duck, pork, beef, chicken, vegan, fish. They also have hot dishes for a cold winter I ordered about 5 different dishes and 2 starters and, in a foodie opinion, I would give it a 6/10. It was decent. I've been to several Asian restaurants and I know what some dishes should taste like and this one didn't hit the spot as it should. But health!!

Absolutely delicious little hidden gem , absolutely recommend you try this place , lovely vibe , very welcoming staff , food amazing.

I have tried so many Chinese restaurants all over locally and indeed a few in the world. Getting upstairs was a hard job with my arthritis. Now I was here before and decided to try again. Service was initially quick. I ordered a fried prawn and mango starter. Came quickly. About 6 medium prawns in a sickly sweet mango strum. Overall poor value and lacked class. For mains I ordered Mongolian beef sizzling and fried rice. The sauce was good with a wee kick. Beef though soft was chewy. Fried rice came instead of boiled rice I ordered. Pretty plain it was. Staff attentative. With a glass of white wine came to £38.00.Very expensive for quantity. Over rated place. Still think lemon grass Holywood is better. No rush back.

Food was of great taste, and the service was very nice as well.

Food was incredible, mind blowing. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone.

A First Class Chinese Restaurant.. The Service Was Very Prompt, Very Little Waiting Time, Food Is Done To Perfection, Staff Are So Friendly And Attentive.. We've Been Quite A Few Times And Will Continue To.. I Would Highly Recommend This Place For Couples, Families Or Party's.... 😃👍

Ordered a Szechuan style chicken and a Kung Pao chicken and none of these had anything to do with the Szechuanese kitchen. Both dishes was more in the style of "sweet and sour chicken" with a less authentic taste and no Szechuan peppers, Chilis etc. Not stir fried either. It did taste well but nothing like what is excepted for the Szechuanese kitchen. Note: Very friendly staff and service

Went today for dinner was beautiful myself and my other half had a beautiful meal first time here and will definitely be back staff is so kind and very welcome

Fresh ingredients, even the vegetables were not the usual peppers and onions but baby corn, broccoli, pak choy etc. Reasonably priced and worth a visit, thank you to Paul and other staff members for two wonderful meals.

It’s likely the best spot for Chinese in Belfast, or at least in the running. Loads of options, all delicious and served quickly. Accommodating to large groups. Lovely little bumpy fish.

Great service - we came with no reservation after checking out reviews on trip advisor. Did not disappoint- food was delicious - service was excellent and we were fed and watered to our hearts content! Would definitely recommend

Ordered king prawn with garlic ginger , it came samples of prawn mostly watery sauce with alot of onions as main vegetable asked for rice aside never saw chinese food with no rice and meal is 18 £ no rice , king prawn crispy noodles were burnt taste few noodles were black little prawn all is onion again , other asian. Restaurant serve much better

Got a year older so the missus treated me to dinner. Been about 5/6 times over the years and never been disappointed, but noticed the menu had changed shortened down, with some of my previous favorites no longer available. To start I had the deep fried prawns with Mango sauce, and the partner went for honey chilli chicken. Both were very good. For mains she got deep fried prawns in sizzling garlic sauce with fried rice, and I had the roast duck in rainbow sauce with fried rice. Again, both were very good. The staff were very attentive and friendly and service was quick. It was pricey though, much more than when I was last there. 2 starters, 2 mains with rice (have to buy also) and 4 drinks was £80

We arrived in Belfast the day before the Belfast Marathon. Trying to find somewhere to eat that evening, without a booking proved very difficult. We just happened to spot a Chinese sign and decided to investigate a bit further. Tucked around a corner was access to this amazing restaurant. Although quite busy they were able give us a table. The menu was quite extensive and the food was delicious. Every member of staff, including the owner spent time chatting with us. I would definitely recommend and if we return to Belfast this restaurant will be first on our list.

Staff were very welcoming upon arrival and throughout. Absolutely no faults with the food the Chicken satay sauce was lovely! Food was served quickly to a high standard and would definitely visit again.

The soup that I've ordered, which consisted of mixed chopped meat, was so so, but the main dish - king prawn with black pepper sauce - was delicious. good fried rice with garlic. There are many options for fried rice to choose from, but not so many for noodles. Both waiters were really friendly and there was no problem with the service. The restaurant itself looks great where you will find a lovely aquarium in the centre.

Manager, owner went above and beyond to treat us right. Food is out of this world, venue itself is beautiful and clean, and cosy. Staff are unbelievable and are very attentive and are here to help in any way. Congratulations to this hidden gem. I highly recommend it. Big time. No disappointment. 👌

A hidden gem. Delicious food and superb attentive service. We had Kung Po king prawn and beef in black bean sauce and portions were just right and well presented. Would highly recommend this place for dinner.

We came here based on previous TA reviews and were not disappointed. The restaurant was fairly busy when we visited and we did prebook. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We had a beer each and chose a set meal including starters, duck, main meals and coffee. The food was tasty and hot and the portion sizes generous. We did manage to eat it all but only just. The bbq ribs were particularly tasty. Highly recommended. Worth going out of your way for.

Visited Belfast for the weekend and was recommended this restaurant by one of the locals. We were staying at the Jury’s Inn (now Leonardos) hotel in the city centre and it was just a short walk away. Very friendly staff, couldn’t do enough for us! The food was really quick but we weren’t rushed at all. Both had the deluxe mixed starters and then main courses of a curry and a spicy beef dish…all absolutely beautiful, piping hot and generous portions! We had a couple of drinks too and the bill was a reasonable £60. Will definitely visit again when we’re in Belfast again.

The owner takes care of his customers from the very beginning to the very end. Staff is everywhere ready to take your order or help. They are there but you can barely notice them :) The food was delicious. I can give them 5 out of 5. I can highly recommend this place. Thank you for a nice evening!

I had bad takeaway one night, which can happen to any place I understand. Important thing is how business reacts. Phoned Joy Inn and arranged to meet Benny the next evening. Complete gentleman and couldn't do enough for me to make things right. Replacement meal was delicious and I will definitely return. Thanks again Benny. Kindest Regards, James

Delicious food, reasonably priced….what else do you need? Excellent service as usual, with food arriving swiftly which makes for an excellent choice for an afternoon lunch stop when working in Belfast, or indeed when passing by. Great atmosphere and fully licensed makes for a great birthday venue. The Mango Prawns are a favourite of mine!!

The best Chinese Restaurant in Belfast. Always our go to place for a treat. The most delicious Chinese food and friendly staff. Benny is a joy, remembers everything about your favourite orders. The nicest Crispy Honey Chilli Chicken you’ll ever have, the duck is always cook to perfection. Wings and ribs fall of the bone. Always happy to do me a side of bok choy in garlic. You could eat the noodles on their own. You can tell that the ingredients and meats are sourced from the best quality, which is reflected in the pricing. But it’s totally worth it. You won’t be disappointed and you will definitely come back for more.

Went for family meal and were all very happy with our experience. Benny is so welcoming and the place has a lovely atmosphere. The service is great and the food was delicious. We will definitely be returning.

I went to Belfast with my cousin for a few days and we fancied a Chinese, found this place on google and seemed to have good reviews. Ordered two cokes and they didn’t taste right and tasted a little flat then I seen the staff pour coke into a glass instead of a offering a glass bottle or a can. I was shocked to see the meals didn’t come with rice as I have never paid separately for rice before and the rice itself was £3 for a very small portion. Meal itself was very expensive and chicken was rubbery. My cousin ordered chicken satay and it tasted nothing like it , the sauce was watery and had a very strong fish taste. Definitely will not be returning.

Exquisite honey chicken with chili and chicken curry. Delicious and spicy. I don't understand why in Spain the Chinese don't offer these dishes. Delicious.

We use the Joy Inn to host the business lunch for so many years (without disappointment). Staff, food and values are always within expectation. Pity that they cannot offer the bento box due to the increase in maintenance and cost. But, will continue to support...

we’ve been a 35 people group on a business meal. classic Chinese food, very tasty, very friendly staff and we really enjoyed. 10 people tables very spacious and comfortable.

My partner and I ordered from here this evening from Just Eat, though it wasn't our first time ordering here. Everything was good, but there was one issue with our sweet our sour chicken. We phoned the restaurant and the owner was so lovely and got us a new chicken dish, which was 10/10. My partner went to the restaurant to pick it up and he said that the owner was even lovelier in person and you can really tell he cares about his business and customers. The customer service was absolutely fantastic. And despite the sweet and sour issue, the rest of the food is amazing. We will be making this our go to Chinese restaurant!
