Imperial Palace in Magherafelt

Usually good but last meal just not nice. Had to get spring rolls reordered, was meant to get duck the first time but instead got vegetable with shrimp? Plus the photos.. yeah Second ones came were what I had requested but not cooked good. £20+ spent and a a pot noodle would have tasted better.

Father's Day dinner in the ONLY sit in Chinese in the town. DELIGHTFUL. Food Service Price. A "got to try" if you are in Magherafelt.

Passing through and fancied a meal. They have a sit in but it is upstairs so difficult for my disablement. They had a two course special meal. I got smoked chicken starter followed by beef curry and fried rice. Very good. I think it was under £16.00. Fully recommend it.

Food doesn't have any flavor and price is a joke, better off going to golden Gate where you get the food for cheaper, better taste and a free bag of prawn crackers. Honestly disappointed by this take away won't be back

Found this place open on Tuesday night on way home through Magherafelt. I am disabled with bad knees and this place is upstairs Seems like part of the local pub lounge now leased out. I was quickly shown a seat and a young female came to take my order. I asked if they were licensed to which the young girl said do you wand a drink. I had to explain that is what licensed means. I thought it was funny and ordered a bottle of Magners to wash down the meal. I was surprised to see they do a mid week 3 course special at £18.95. So I got a smoked chicken starter. Some shredded chicken in a syrup sauce with possibly honey chill flavour. It was different but nice and good portion size. I went for beef curry with fried rice mains. Came quickly and was smooth, peppery caramel like spicy curry sauce. Just nice with plenty onions, peas and soft beef slices. Very good. I ordered deep fried ice cream. Rely nice. Large ball of ice-cream covered in coconut batter coating. I also ordered a separate coffee. All very good. Bill was £26.50. Medium cider cost a stiff six pounds. Staff were nice and there was a restaurant manager, a local man who was very attentive and efficient. Access via steep enough stairs was a draw back but value and food were excellent. Recommended.

My partner and I had a beautiful meal on valentines night, food and service were first class.

I last visited this restaurant more than 30 years ago when it was also fabulous if a somewhat new experience for a then rather unsophisticated clientele. My beautiful young wife and I recently visited and were very impressed. The premises is largely unchanged but modernised and redecorated to present as fresh and clean. The staff were friendly, helpful and entertaining. The food was superb. We shared a chilli Prawn starter and each had duck of differing styles and with different sides. Fabulous! I had a Coffee Royale to finish and we enjoyed some Tsing Tao Chinese Beers and red wines with our dinner. I look forward to our next visit.

My son has ptsd form looking at the mixed grill. A lump off lettuce smothered in gravy with day old sausage and some sort of unrecognizable meat. Went in hungry came out feeling sick.

Very cosy and atmospheric in an upstairs room (disabled take note). Fabulous staff. Very attentive but not obtrusive. Very reasonable prices

I've been here alot over the years and in my opinion it's probably the best Chinese in Magherafelt. The service is always excellent and the food is brilliant, I would recommend the beef and tomato with garlic. You are always guaranteed a bit of banter from John and the girls. Highly recommended!

Pro's - friendly management, mostly good food at a fair price Con's -don't ask for your steak well done as chef will burn it.

Got a takeaway here. Not impressed at all. They said the chinese gravy was chinese but it was stodgy English gravy. Server was lovely but wouldn't go back. Magherafelt needs a good takeaway. There's nothing worth having at all!

Imperial Palace has been an institution in Magherafelt for many years. The service is friendly, the quality of food is consistent and the price is reasonable. Spring rolls are excellent with plenty of pork and shrimp and the honey chilli beef is a personal favourite. They will dial up the heat for you if you ask. Highly recommend.

Excellent food piping hot and generous portions. Drinks a little expensive but not excessiveley so. Fairly small and intimate. Staff very friendly and helpful. As cheap as anywhere in Magherafelt.

I always love a good chinese but I had a sit in meal in imperial for the first time in a while, the food standard was exceptional and the staff we extremely friendly and very well trained at their job! I will most certainly be back 👍🏻 Keep up the good work guys!

Fantastic meal at the imperial. Me and my partner are new to the area when we stumbled across this place. John the server was extra accommodating and super friendly. The duck spring rolls and prawn toast were delicious. I had the chicken how mein which at first get a little dry, but overall was still delicious. At first we were sceptical as the restaurant was quiet. However, don’t be fooled! Would highly recommend.

I had a great experience here. Not typically a Chinese-food lover, but my friends wanted to come here for a birthday. Usually I avoid eating out as it’s normally difficult to get a proper vegan dish that isn’t just a bowl of chips or a salad. Upon arrival, John explained all the dishes to me & was very helpful. Despite not having any vegan dishes on their actual menu, he was able to provide me with an unbelievably tasty dish he concocted just for me that was completely vegan. I was overwhelmed - the taste was incredible & the quality of service was impeccable! Thank you so much for a beautiful meal. For once I didn’t feel like I was an inconvenience! Will definitely be recommending 🙂

Set dinner menus up to 8.00pm each night appear to offer good value but just short of £26 for 2 people before drinks makes this place expensive. The food is quite ordinary in fact similar to any Chinese take away dumped on your plate. We had another person who had a main course only of duck and prawns with noodles as a side. We had 2 Chinese beer and the meal came to £66. This was quite expensive Chinese for 3 mid week, we also left a tip on top as staff we very good. Takes night out to £70

Had a sit down meal tonight with a friend. Food was delicious and good value. Service very attentive and friendly. Recommend. Will be back soon

I've ate out of Imperial Palace a few times over the years but have just recently moved to Magherafelt so I thought I would give their takeaway service a try. I phoned at 4.45pm. It arrived at 5.50pm over an hour and less than a mile away. Then the guy told me the price, my jaw dropped, either delivery is £5+ for 1-mile delivery or they are now charging restaurant prices for their takeaway. Then onto the food, the chips were cold and I mean cold, the chicken balls weren't far behind and the same can be said for the sauce. Needless to say, I won't be back. I could have complained but was just too fed up by that stage. This used to be the best Chinese in Magherafelt, sadly it seems to have gone downhill.

Always a favourite of mine in Magherafelt is the imperial, went in Saturday night , 4 of us 2 adults , 2 children , service was quick , staff were very busy but very attentive to us, food was just delicious, great portions. , flavours were unreal , very well priced , can’t wait to call back.

Great food & service, love this place! Restaurant has been there a long time & local favourite. Very welcoming as always, decor may be traditional, for us it's about the food & service that counts. Well done guys, see you soon!

I recommend this restaurant. It was warm and comfortable. There was enough room between tables. Minimum wait for ordering and for meals to be brought. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the food very good. The sweet and sour duck was superb. We will be back.

Great little Chinese Restaurant in Magherafelt, 2 courses for £12 during the week is a great offer. I had the duck with prawns it was fab served with fried rice. Don't forget the chilli, pepper ribs for starter very spicy but so good. Give it a try you will not be disappointed .

What a fantastic find! The restaurant staff are friendly, the food was stunning and the place was clean. Had a real laugh with John the manager too. Good food served by good people and great value. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Prices are ridiculous too high for what you are getting and the quality of the food very unhappy with what i received.
