Before it was a trend Ian Brown was all about food provenance and seasonality. He's so slick at it now that you could take it for granted. If you want to eat fresh, Scottish food, cooked to order for you by an experienced chef who is personally there on the tools here is the place. Ians wife runs the room and really adds to the experience with on point customer interaction. Go!

This place is incredible. I took my family, and they also raved about it. I have a vegetarian amongst us and they also were delighted at the menu. Food, service, superb. The triple cooked chips are a must. The Jamaican banana crumble, cooked to order is incredible. Get it booked👍

Wow, this was a truly delicious meal. Can highly recommend haddock thermidor. But to be honest, I've never had a bad meal here. Very reasonably priced being from their daily specials menu, too. Service is always perfect.

It's a small intimate restaurant. The staff were attentive. We were are party of 4 and had different dishes. We all enjoyed the food.

A lovely little gem of a place. Passed it on my way to a meeting a few days earlier and looked it up. Seeing the lovely reviews, we decided to give it a go for a night out for our anniversary. We were not disappointed. Really excellent food with incredibly lovely front of house staff and a very calm and chilled atmosphere. A great wee find, We will be back.

Great little restaurant on southside. The quality of the dishes was excellent. The front of house staff very attentive and helpful, with great advice on the dishes. Wonderful atmosphere, and the service and quality can be seen by the locals. Having visited during a family visit to Scotland we envy the residents who have this place as their local.

Great friendly service fantastic food

We had been looking forward to going here after reading many rave reviews. Id love to say it was well worth the wait and it was as good as all the ravings, but alas it really wasnt. The restaurant itself is crammed full of tables, too many in such a small space, it felt almost claustrophobic, there is no atmosphere. The staff tried to make it more atmospheric by putting the lighting up and down throughout the evening but ended up making it just dark. It was stiflingly hot and became very noisy due to the size and layout of the dining area. There were 3 of us, one whom was vegetarian. The food started well enough, the starters were very tasty, the Pigs cheek was really delicious, the crab cakes were fine and the vegetarian soup was excellent. but this is where it ends. The mains, The pork main was average, you could do it at home without too much hassle, the beef shinn was very nice but that's it, just nice. The vegetarian option was a huge let down. We had seen the Haggis, Neeps and Tatties starter and it looked nice, so our guest chose that, it came out and was basically just a double helping of the starter, no sauce, nothing. For a premium priced restaurant you would expect them to make a little effort rather than just double the portion and fire it out to the table. We didn't bother with deserts, we probably wont be back, there are far better restaurants in the Glasgow area that are similar or less price which offer better ranges and options.

Have had a few IBFD's, last night's was really excellent. Steak strips with black pudding and basil oil one of my all time favourite starters anywhere. Coley was delicious and Tarte Tatin delicious. Thank you

Very well run small family restaurant,due to Covid menu was limited which was expected. Good safety facilities in place. Sad to say now closed due to Covid restrictions. But will open again with full excellent menu. We've been here lots of times and also for special occasions. Will definitely be back. A must for not only the Southside but anyone who likes good quality dinning.

Just had, what I would call a carry out - during this awful virus ! Fantastic, we put the “carry out” in the fridge I think this idea is fairly New to the restaurant and we went out a walk for fresh air. It was a Sunday roast, we had with a choice of starter and sweet All we had to do - was follow the easy instructions, with the oven at the ready. Wow, what a chef, he did not disappoint - the flavours and All the products, were as if you were in the restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend trying the “carry out, delivered”

De bediening is super vriendelijk waardoor je je zeer welkom voelt. Wij hadden geen voorgerecht, maar als hoofdgerecht de Steak Diane en als nagerecht de Sticky Toffee Pudding en de Appel Pruimen Meringue. Nogmaals: fantastisch!

Visited on Saturday night. Ate off the Christmas menu which was lovely. Only leaving a review as the staff were great and made the night. The 2 ladies that served us were friendly and knowledgeable.

Cosy restaurant with lovely seasonal dishes. Great wine selection. Baked Alaska is a must!

Giffnock can compete with Glasgow's best in terms of food quality and service. Honey glazed beetroot was most appetising. Followed by venison that was cooked to perfection. Wife had crab fishcakes (3 mini) and delicious baked cod. Good selection of reasonably priced wines to complement food. Service efficient and friendly. Overall atmosphere buzzy and happy.

Think it was me, but never enjoyed my meal. Usually leave the place raving about, food, service and an enjoyable evening.

Visited today for Mothers Day lunch. My mum had monkfish to start and I had the braised pig cheek- melt in the mouth! For the main I had the trout fillet with fennel, peas and lyonaise potatoes, the trout was perfect, the mustard sauce was very nice and not too thick or overwhelmed with cream. My mum thoroughly enjoyed her feta filo parcel main which was filling enough but left enough room for dessert! She had the tablet cheesecake and had to refrain from licking the plate it was so good! (She's not a plate licker btw, she just loved this cheesecake 😁). I had the baked Alaska but had cheesecake envy. Iona gave my mum an extra piece of tablet with her coffee since she enjoyed the cheesecake so much! All in all we had a lovely time, it was a bit noisy because it was so busy, but despite it being so busy the staff couldn't have been nicer. We didn't feel ignored, nor did we feel rushed, the food was fresh, hot and delicious and we both look forward to returning.

My second time at this restaurant and a great lunch was had. I had the venison and my partner had the pork chop which looked amazing! Good service and a nice atmosphere.

We have eaten here several times and it has always been excellent. A great bistro - style atmosphere, unpretentious, quality food.

8 of us went along, 4 being vegetarian and we all left satisfied.Great value on the 5pm deal.

Food atmosphere and service perfect delighted look forward to my next visit

Last September my wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary here. Friends and family are still complementing us on choosing Ian Brown Restaurant for the occasion. All 40 diners were amazed to be given an individual choice of starter, mains and sweet. How everyone was served at once I'll never know! Perhaps the tiny kitchen is really a Tardis or maybe the delicious food gets beamed-up from Star-Ship Enterprise. Ian and Sheila Brown even postponed their holiday to ensure that all went well for us on the day. Superb service from friendly yet unobtrusive staff. The restaurant is just the right size for a large family gathering and we had exclusive use of the premises from 2 till 5 on a Sunday afternoon. Ample parking on-site and in nearby residential streets. Close to train station and bus stop... for those wishing to over-indulge in a bevvy. Exceptionally good value for money. I've booked ahead for our 50th.
