Good food ,great service,can't fault it

Food was lovely but the nan bread let it down, it wasn't puffy and crisp but flat and chewy

My new favourite Indian restaurant. The pakora is original and fantastic. The curry’s and tikka cooked to perfection. Bravo we will be back

Best Indian restaurant I've been to in years. The food was amazing, friendly staff and priced well. Will be back.

This restaurant is very good. Went along with 4 of my friends. We all really enjoyed our meal. Staff were so lovely. Will definitely go back again!!

Since this restaurant has been taken over the standard of service and food has deteriorated considerably. In recent weeks we have had food from there twice, once eating in when we waited over an hour for the starter, then I placed a take away order on Saturday (2 hours in advance and they couldn't find it). This was despite trying to order online then phoning it in.The food was not good hardly any chicken or veg (loads of sauce!) the food didn't even taste good. We won't be back.

Not the Heritage any more. Now called the Bay Leaf and has new owners. Lovely meal with great service at a reasonable price, would definitely recommend.

We visited Heritage on Saturday 30th August and between the environment, the waiting staff and the fact someone burned my partner (and threw his curry over him), it was a horrible experience. When we arrived, around 8.30, there was already a large table (maybe c.20 people) having been served and we took a seat across the restaurant from them. These people proceeded to scream and yell, clapping loudly and cheering like a football match for the entire time we were there. The waitress who took our order was blunt, unfriendly and looked miserable. But I honestly don’t blame her because the environment was incredibly difficult to enjoy. We got our flat, warm drinks well after the popadoms had arrived at the table and, despite the staff and the environment, the food was very nice. When our mains came, the waiter dropped a bowl of Korma, throwing it all over my partner and the table. The waiter was apologetic, and I understand that accidents happen. However, offering an open pot of sudocrem for the burn that had been left, and some napkins on the table for us to clean up, was not the way to handle this. Half the curry was on my partners shirt, a lot was mixed into my curry, we had to clean most of the table ourselves and Hassan didn’t even have the decency to ask if we were okay, never mind apologise or do anything to make it right. It felt that the table of 20 were much more of a priority (and probably friends of the owner since they were all taking pictures together), but I’m not sure why this allowed them to make other peoples experiences significantly less enjoyable. Or why Hassan was so busy ensuring their needs were taken care of, that he couldn’t even apologise for someone getting hurt as a result of his staff. I just wouldn’t go back again, the food was nice but it was not worth the experience at all.

I have never ever experienced a worse meal ever in an establishment. We went last week as a group of 6, we were the only 6 in the place, it was dark cold and smelt most unpleasant. When the food arrived I have never seen or tasted worse in my life. Spare yourselves and go down to the local supermarket- a ding ding curry would be better. The customer service is also shocking, we complained when paying for the food and the managers attitude was disgusting. Stay well clear off this place

This so called restaurant is disgusting. Timings, servers and food absolutely shocking. Called ahead and asked for a table of 20 said they were more than to accommodate. All arrived smelt lovely. Waited 45 mins just for a drink! After an hour and 45 we finally got our food……but they didn’t bring enough sides. Waited another 10mins. Got a chicken tikka omg I’ve never tasted anything so disgusting in all my life. They changed the meal it was even worse! By this stage I’d had enough. Went to pay the bill not that I really wanted to only to be greeted with the full table bill. Told the lady I would be paying for 4 meals and told her exactly what we had. She had no interest and was rude telling us we needed to tell them in advance if we wanted split the bill. She got the manager and omg I thought she was rude he was worse! Obnoxious wouldn’t have been in it! This is only half of what’s happened this evening in this horrendous establishment. If you can’t cope don’t book people in! Ridiculous

Changed recipe for chicken bhuna definitely not the same disappointed

Customer service horrendous...waited 30 mins on drinks asked if we wanted free popadoms and charged for them over an hour and a half later before got our meal which was terrible food most of which was left . Guy started yelling at us because we wanted to pay separately then lost his temper took off pushing the child out of his way...disguisting behavour if this is what they call customer service im sorry they need to take lessons. Overall the whole experience was awful wouldnt recommend to anyone!

We have experienced Indian meals many times from various Indian restaurants. We have never tasted anything like Heritage. If you like authentic Indian cuisine I`d say go somewhere else. The tandoori mixed grill was all coated in a BBQ style sauce. Rice was poor, nan bread was thick and spongy unlike any nan I`ve ever had! The South Indian garlic chilli had no chillies ! Takeaway had missing item. Happens but a credit off next order was offered instead of bringing missing item! Would normally pick at leftovers but decided to give it to the seagulls.

Awful. Literally the worst Indian ever. First curry and rice meal deal turned up and no sauce at all. They said the rice had soaked up the sauce - it hadn’t. They then provided sauce that we had to drive back and get - this was thick and sloppy. The naan bread was awful. Avoid.

Food is quite nice. Friendly staff and food did not take too long to arrive. I went in for a take out meal. Food a little on the bland side for my taste so will ask for the next stage up in spice level. Will go back there.

Boss man was amazing would recommend

If you value customer service then I suggest you stay as far away as possible from here. They have some of the rudest, most unhelpful and arrogant staff possible. Also do not attend on a Sunday for their thali which is like an Indian tapas. The food you get is nice and plentiful but don't dare ask to take any of it home with you as you will be met with some of the worst lies imaginable. We were told that thali diners could not take leftovers home with them but if we had eaten a la carte it would have been alright to do so. When we questioned the waste of food that we had BOUGHT we were told flippantly the owner probably feeds it to his dog. That genuinely was the waiter's reply. Unbelievable.!! This had not been the case on any of our previous thali visits where we had been able to take our food home as long as we purchased the tub for 95 pence. Since Heritage opened years ago we have been good customers but since it reopened after covid it has been not very good and the service has become very poor and rudeness and flippancy are not what anyone should expect. We will never ever visit again and suggest that you consider this before going there. Also don't bother complaining to them as they just ignore you. Very, very rude people.

Brilliant food excellent quality food very nice service

Simply the best Indian Restaurant, nay the best Restaurant period in all of West Lothian. The owners and staff are so gracious and nice. The food is always excellent. Highly recommended.

From the moment I walked in, made to feel welcome and comfortable. Taken to sit down at a very comfortable booth and offered a drink before I sat down…naturally I’d already spotted the Cobra on draught and it was perfect. Great chutney tray here, if you’re from Wales/South like me, then there’s no mango chutney/lime pickle but instead a sweet mango chutney and a chilli chutney instead. The curry was outstanding, Jalfrezi is what I had and it was packed with flavour and a little more heat than I was expecting but nothing another pint of Cobra couldn’t fix! The peshwari naan, was frankly the best I’ve ever tasted…and for £28, two pints, poppadoms, chutneys, curry, rice and naan…superb value for money!!

I was last here back in 2017 and then it was great, sorry to say both the service and food have gone downhill! There was no customer care, we got the impression that they were doing us a favor by serving us and the food we got was passable but very garlicky. I don't know if it has changed hands but I will not be rushing back.

We had a beautiful meal Served piping hot, good helpings, pleasant service, excellent.

We went here on for a birthday meal at 5pm February 2022, 5 adults 3 children. I have been all over the UK enjoying Indian cuisine and mostly have a hot South Indian garlic chicken. We were offered two mixed starter platters to incorporate the kids food. The chicken Pakora were unseasoned and covered in grease and I’m certain other stuff came from a freezer bag. The kids had chicken nuggets and chips. My meal was inedible It tasted like someone had spilled a jar of black pepper over it. My wife told me not to complain so as not to waste the evening. Reluctantly I kept my mouth shut. Almost three full meals were left which we took home but when several of us got very Iill later on I binned it. There were only two alcoholic drinks bought and no pudding or coffee and the bill came to £180. I emailed a complaint the next day and the response I got was ‘ you don’t get ill so soon after a meal’. and we checked CCTV and you didn’t look unhappy!! This response is unbelievable!! We will never cross the door of this place again!! Realistically I should have complained at the time. My 9 year old grandson who sampled some of the adult food was off school the next day with severe stomach issues. There are better restaurants out there who care about their customers

Really great place years ago. Ordered starters for take away. Spent 25 pounds on 3 veg pakora, chicken pakora, sauces and cucumber Rialta. Spiced onion ok. Veg pakora dry and inedible. Chicken poor quality. Curdled rialta. Fair play offered to remake and send but put us off. Looks pre made, shame really

The chicken pakora was greasy, batter was dripping! Chicken was old and dry and chewy and grey 2 curries- both bland and flavourless. Colour was the only way to tell them apart Naan bread was cold, no garlic or again any flavour. Whole thing was so disappointing and I will never go back

Ordered a takeaway with starter and main courses for a Saturday treat. Have to say so disappointed as have visited for sit in, and had takeaway numerous times over past few years and this order was the worst Indian I've ever had. The spiced onions were very poor taste wise and also the pieces were massive and not chopped very small. The pakora was as if it had been reheated from night before or lunch, either that or cooked in fat that required changing. Burnt batter was off putting even before tasting. All 3 curries were very bland and some of the chicken was disgusting. Majority of these went in the bin as after having a piece of the disgusting chicken it would put anyone off. Sad to say after all these years we won't be using or visiting again.

Not as good as it used to be. Under new management? The chicken saag just isn't the same anymore. Bland too oily and no heat. Disappointed.

Booked this restaurant for a pre cinema meal. Booking very easy via the web site, appeared to have decent reviews. Arrived around 5.45pm so restaurant was fairly quiet. Appeared to be doing a lot of takeaway trade. Menu looked fairly promising. We ordered some drinks a pints of cobra lager were very good. Another table was complaining regarding quality of main course which was concerning. Starters came pakora could be described as large chicken nuggets. We’re definitely not pakora. Mains were a disaster, cremated lamb, tasteless curry and a cold Nan. We returned these. To be fair the offer of making fresh food was declined and we were not charged for this. Having only visited once it may have been an off day or particular circumstances but would not return.

Fantastic meal as always - the Heritage team are so friendly and helpful delivering not just great food but top class customer service. If you haven’t been before and you love freshly prepared Indian food you should visit the Heritage.

It the first time I have had a take away from the Heritage I was not impressed. It was a lot more expensive than most other takeaway establishments but no way as good. The Korma was bland the tikka masala had no real kick to it and the nan was under cooked(really doughy) and considering it was not that busy it was a really poor show.

I guess this place must have changed hands. 2 years ago lovely food lovely service. Now, horrible offensive service. You would think that the entire covid experience would have taught businesses to appreciate and value a customer base. Seemingly not.

Terrible customer service Delivery driver attacked my neighbour with our food, which ended up all over the car and street. Manage said they just take anyone as they need drivers.I didn’t want replacement food but the manager brought it, he didn’t listen to what I wanted to say.Terrible customer service Terrible for a child to see such behaviour.Will not be ordering food ever again from here.

Super restau indien, le butter chicken est vraiment bon et les plats sont copieux et calent vraiment. Tout est fait maison ! Le jus de mangue est excellent ! Les serveurs sont très gentils et avenants, les prix sont très abordables. Je recommande

I always bought my food from here when I lived in bathgate then when I moved. However I will never order again. The delivery drive let's the heritage down. He asked 4 time if I had paid. Was told yes. Then he starts saying I have a bad attitude when I finally get annoyed with him. My puppy got out and was running round the street and he shouts I hope your dog gets knocked down. I have cctv footage of this and 3 neighbours who witnessed the whole thing. I was a loyal customer but I won't ever order again. Delivery driver let's this place down.

Absolutely appalling. We have been going here for years and loved it and the staff. I ordered a delivery. It took ages and the lady who answered the phone when I ordered clearly had no clue what Indian dishes were. I was going to ask for the manager but decided to give her the benefit of the doubt but she struggled so much she had to put the manager on. He then charged me over £40 for a main dish and three sides. I queried it and he knocked off a tiny bit. Final result… we got delivery after one hour and it was wrong!! No chicken tikka main dish.. just lots of curry sauce. I rang and complained . Was asked if I wanted it delivered now?!!!! Offered a refund which didn’t seem much so said no I won’t be back again. So disappointing.., wonder if it’s new staff? Will useDelhi winter in future… totally reliable.

Chicken korma was soo sweet. Nan bread tasted like a pancake , pakora in like a donut batter covered in grease and the chargrilled chicken was a mushy pink thing - will not going there again

Have dined in at the Heritage a few times and always really enjoyed our meal. Ordered a meal as a Mothers Day treat this weekend and it was awful!! Starters were sogging the raitas looked, smelled and tasted disgusting! The currys were bland and tated like nothing. Awful meal and didn't respond to email or social media message complaining. Will never order from here again!

The food we had from here was absolutely revolting. The chicken pakora looked as though it had been triple fried and was crunchy, greasy and completely inedible. Spiced onions were incredibly hot and the poppadoms smelt of vile, old grease and our full meal had to be thrown in the bin. Will not be back to this Indian takeaway.

It's quite good, quality can vary but most of the time good

To be honest I tried to order elsewhere but it was closed so I had to try the Heritage again. I wasn’t impressed last time but I thought I’d give it another try. We ordered vegetable pakora, pashwari Nan, rice and two chicken meals. The pakora was a burned reheat so we didn’t finish them. The pashwari sadly was just a lump of dough and that was left too. The biggest issue though is the the two different chicken dishes tasted almost exactly the same so there was no gain from sharing the two courses. When we went to the heritage to start with it was great but sadly it hasn’t maintained those standards.

We last visited Heritage about 2 years ago for a sit in meal which was fantastic and had been a few times previous to this and again no issues.Tonight we decided to order a takeaway. We opted for a mixed pakora and a mixed tandoori grill.Pakora was £4.55 and we received 3 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of vegetable pakora which I feel is very poor.We have had many mixed tandoori grills over the years and have always came with a naan, rice and curry sauce. The one from Heritage does not (written in the description so this is our fault) however the 1/2 chicken was raw in the middle and given it was a Saturday night I saw no point in phoning to try and rectify the issue.I doubt we will be back after this experience.

Excellent food and service, also very clean

First time ordering from here which we did simply because we were nearby and in a rush. We both got a chasni so we wouldn't get food envy, it was the spiciest chasni either of us had ever had but it was really delicious. Maybe the best I've had as a takeaway. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the garlic naan was lovely and complimentary dips were really nice. It was the perfect amount as well. I would definitely return to try something else.

Avoid this place if you can. Sent email with pics of the disgusting food that was provided. To add Insult we were overcharged. I can live with that if the food was decent however a plate full of oil with 90% of the dish being cabbage (veg balti)is shameful. To not respond to my email which included evidence of the food is a disgrace.(couple pics below) I have used this place quite a few time and to be treated like this leave a lot to be desired. Profit over customer!!!

Really bad takeaway tonight.. Rice and nan were cold ,chicken pakora was cold and the lamb south indian garlic curry was inedible. The lamb was nice but the sauce was like thick soup, full of lentils. All went in bin !!

Really bad meal ,everything was cold even although we collected it ourselves. The garlic sauce was that thick you could have danced on it ,full of lentils of which I never ordered . All went in bin .... terribly disappointed

Have just returned home from our first meal out since lockown started and WOW was it good.Service was great, protocol was followed well(staff in masks etc) staff were attentive as always and the food........... Absolutely divine. And all for a reasonable price. Can't wait to go back

Had a delicious meal at the Heritage. Chicken tikka was so tasty and perfectly cooked and would definately recommend south indian garlic chicken. Service was so friendly.

Heritage Indian restaurant has the most delicious food, it is made with fresh herbs and spices which is obvious from the first bite, the meals are very generous so make sure you have your elastic waist trousers on. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is stylish and pristine. The prices are around a regular price band but they have specials on and business lunches (for everyone) in early afternoon where you can get a 2 course meal for around 12 pounds. Never been let down with each visit would highly recommend 👌

I’ve never ordered from here before. They seemed over worked and understaffed! The food arrived after about 30 mins. Two mains, rice, poppadoms, pickle and a starter. The mains were very similar even though they were ant supposed to be. In general food was nice but not anything special

We had a takeaway from here. Ordered online and it said 70 mins before it would be ready for collection, I called them and was told it would be ready in 55 mins and asked them to give me a call if it was ready any sooner. I arrived at the restaurant 45 mins later (just incase!) and literally had to push my way through 6 smokers huddled in the doorway (the weather was miserable) after being ignored saying “excuse me” for the 5th time. Lungs full of cigarette smoke, I got into the restaurant (which was pretty empty) only to find the food was sat there ready in a box. Excellent! Again, difficulty trying to get out the door as smokers wouldn’t move telling me they didn’t want to get wet... Got the food home and it was stone cold. No idea how long it had been sitting but certainly hadn’t just been brought out from the kitchen as I was told. Flavour wise the puri was disgusting. More grease than bread and the sauce was bland. The other meals, after being heated were barely adequate and certainly nothing to shout about. This place used to get great reviews, so I’m not sure what happened but along with being overpriced, it failed in so many ways. I’ll be spending my money elsewhere in future.

The fish pakora had one problem, there was no fish anywhere to be found amongst the batter, a poor start! On to the mains, the chicken chasni was unlike any chasni we've ever had.,basicly,a beer festival in the sweet tomato sauce with no depth of flavours at all. We complained, and a substitute dish was ordered, a chicken jalfresi, Oh dear! Again no flavour or any depth, possibly thrown together to pacify an irate customer? To add to the disappointment meal, we were then overcharged for drinks we had not ordered, which to be fair was quickly sorted out. Overall a very disappointing experience and we probably will not now take a chance on this restaurant, sorry!!

We asked the Chief in charge to compose a fine dish of Indian specialities for our group of friends, we were on a short break in Schotland, travelling from Edinborough to Bathgate, sightseeing Loch's and the Highlands.It supprised all of us, that we have enjoyed a delicious table with all kind of dishes food and spicy meat from the Indian kitchen.Perfect done, many thanks and well understood with a very friendly attitude.Our best regards from the Dutch friends, Koos, Til, Paul, Corien, Anneke and Hans.

The food, services and surounding was great. The first Indian restaurant i was satisfied with the taste of food exactly what i wanted, a little bit more spicy chilies and excellent taste. We definitely will be back again.

We booked a table for 12 last night (Saturday, 31 Aug) at 6.00pm. Most of our party arrived within 5-10 minutes of this time. We were seated and asked if we would like some drinks (all good so far). As there was a large group I suggested that we share 2 plates of mixed starters. These arrived fairly quickly and were very well received by us all. However, orders for drinks were slow and often had to be repeated. We waited and waited and almost 2 hours after we had finished our starters, eventually the main meals arrived. We asked several times what was the hold up and were told food would be ready in 10mins. Other diners (smaller parties) and takeaways came and went. The food when it arrived was very good but this was spoiled by the fact that we had had to wait so long. The restaurant was not busy but there was only 2 waiting staff on and the manager - not sure how many in the kitchen. We expressed our disappointment at the service we had received and indicated that some kind of recompense might be in order. However, when the bill arrived there was no reduction in the price. One of our party went to speak to the manager. The manager refused to speak to her and said he would only speak to the person who had made the booking! Anyway after a certain amount of debate which consisted of him trying to say that all food is cooked fresh and that is why it took so long to come out. He also hinted that they were unable to cope well with larger parties! We did in the end get a discount but will not be back as this is the second time that this has happened to us and we did not go back for over a year. Given that the food, when it is served is very good, they really need to look at what is happening in their kitchen and get it sorted.

Got a carry out to go to our Friends house and the food was absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend this place the staff are so friendly.

We visited for lunch and had a superb meal, popadoms with lovely accompaniments followed by Thali which was amazing, chicken that melts in the mouth with beautifully prepared, cooked and presented vegetables, nice light rice and a crispy naan.The portions are generous so no room left for pudding....They also serve a blond ipa lager fro Cobra which goes so well with Indian food, we will certainly be back - thank you.

One of the best Indians I've ever eaten at. The food is bursting with flavour and truly tastefilled spice.
