Harbour Cafe in Fife

What an excellent wee cafe, food delicious and very cheap.

Can't get any better than this. An amazing fish dinner and the home made cakes were absolutely delicious!

Pretty cool wee place, nice coffee and cakes, sitting at a large table outside listening to a dj's music, while the Alfred Dunhill cup was playing a few yards away.

Only stopped for a cup of tea. Always a friendly welcome

To go cafe right by the sea, we were completely alone because it was off season. Great view.

Popped in for ice cream whilst visiting St Andrews Harbour. It’s only the scoop type they do - not mr whippy which we prefer. I believe there are a choice of flavours but we opted for vanilla. £1.80 for one scoop on a small cone was quite reasonable pricewise, and size was actually enough to perk us up and keep us going till t-time 😎 (Deducted one star for the few ice crystals in the ice cream but still enjoyed it)

First class and still open after 5pm.

Great basic fast food. Young girl serving was nice and friendly older lady (cook) was a bit abrupt. The seating area inside is limited, and you are asked to wait outside if you are taking away even if it is raining.

Yes this place is nice place to see ok and the staff is good too see the tea there is good and food is hot too and the cakes is good too so if you in St Andrew give this place a go think you

A small authentic snack bar away from the tourists. Went here by chance and really satisfied. Something for every taste. Full marks!👍

The service reminds me of my mother (soon to be 88 years old). Despite obvious physical limitations, she manages to run the store all by herself, at least shortly before the end of the day. The food (and also the prices) reminds me pleasantly of my youth, definitely visit while this gem is still around!

💎 Finally... a proper old-skool no nonsense cafe. Outstanding value for money, and just the ticket if you're in the mood for a burger, fish & chips, or even lobster. Kids beach toys, and sweets galore at more than reasonable prices. They also have crabbing lines and bait, so you can hang a few off the harbour wall. Will definitely be back. What an absolute wee gem. Appears to be run by a sweet wee lady in the kitchen, and young but attentive front of house staff. Scotland's coastline used to be full of these wee cafes, but the majority have sadly closed or "modernised" to suit the cinnamon mocha latte and sesame tofu brioche crowd.

Although we bought the coffee locally, the lady did not allow us to drink it on her terrace.

A coothie little old fashioned place to pick up a takeout coffee, an empire cookie, or a millionaire shortbread square. Right beside the beach & harbor..... Take a seat on a bench, kick back & watch the waves roll in, followed by a stroll along one of the prettest beaches in StAndrews!

The Harbour Cafe was a great place to go to for ice cream, especially during the summer when I was staying at my gran's caravan at St Andrew's. It was deliciously creamy and perfect to take on the beach with me. There was also always a dog bowl ready for any thirsty dog which I thought was a nice touch.

Quite unfriendly staff, I was told to wait outside in a strong wind, and I couldn't sit down there either for safety reasons. It's a weird place. Fish & chips were unsalty, but fresh.

Apart from the outdated decor, the food is quite a shame. The fish is clearly fresh but there is no taste whatsoever. A little salt and pepper or other spices would bring this out.

Super good. Super friedly stuff and relaxed mood.

The old lady makes it truly impossible to be a customer and almost impossible for the young girls to serve. I Don't think this place could pass a food safety inspection anyway.

Conveniently placed right on the beach, we didn't want to walk back to town just to get some fish and chips. We hesitated a bit because it looks a bit shabby, but it was one of the best f&c I ever had - crispy, fresh, the chips were crispy and you can add salt and vinegar to your taste. £8 was a great price, we were full and happy. Staff was kind and friendly.

We have been here so many times. Everyone is friendly and so helpful best place in St Andrews.

Always love going for lunch here when we visit daughter love's the soup.

great local food - nothing fancy

This place could be so much BETTER....We stopped off on our walk for a bite to eat and the elderly womem (owner?) is just RUDE. Covid Restrictions are finished love, no need to patronise the customers. And not ringing sales through your till is ILLEGAL.

Went for lunch with the family. Ordered a hot dog and the bread was mouldy (see pictures). The location is great, service was okay, it could be so much nicer... They need to be careful not to sell off bread cakes!

Busy little cafe, food always good

Don't be fooled by the look of this place on the outside, it serves great cafe food and if you want seafood its one of the best places to go, fresh from the sea. If its a cup of tea to a full fish and chips or a burger then do pop in. All the usual cafe extras too and a selection of toys for the beach to keep the kids happy.

I cannot praise Harbour Cafe highly enough. Good food very reasonably priced and excellent service. Overall a quality service.

What a gem of a place! We stumbled upon here on New Years Day 2020. After a play on the beach the 8 of us were so glad to see the shop open. Not to mention the amazing Fire Pit outside. Loads to pick from. Food and drinks lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. Particularly the owner who stopped for a chat. Highly recommend! We will be back. Location fabulous. There was 8 of us, 4 adults, 4 kids. Right beside a car park, swing park and beach.

¡Qué joya de lugar! Nos topamos aquí el día de Año Nuevo 2020. Después de una obra de teatro en la playa, los 8 estábamos muy contentos de ver la tienda abierta. Sin mencionar el increíble Fire Pit afuera.Cargas para elegir. La comida y las bebidas son preciosas y el personal es muy amable y servicial. Particularmente el dueño que se detuvo para conversar.¡Altamente recomendado! Volveremos. Ubicación fabulosa. Éramos 8, 4 adultos, 4 niños. Justo al lado de un aparcamiento, columpios y playa.

It's a pleasant blast from the past, when cafes cared more about service and value. Than they do about image and profit. Nice and honest staff, with no hint of pretensions. Exactly the kind of place for an old grump like me, who hates the b/s of the modern world. Its a taste of the real Scotland in a town full of non Scots.

Great wee traditional cafe with the handy location on the Shore in St Andrews on the old harbour side. Trad tea n coffee. Great fish n chips and many other cafe and breakfast items. Friendly staff.

A menudo he pensado que deberíamos almorzar aquí (vivimos localmente). Hoy fue un día encantador, así que pensé: "¿Por qué no hoy?" Nos sentamos afuera, mirando el puerto y protegiendo nuestro pescado y papas fritas de las gaviotas. Buen pescado y patatas fritas, una taza de té encantadora, un pastel de limón estupendo, un personal amable: en general, no podríamos haber estado más contentos.

Buen desayuno escocés. El mejor. Muy recomendable

This is a must for the best view of the Old Course, and the west sands coupled with a lovely coffee/tea and home made cakes. (not expensive)

Poor - selling out of date food

Avoid! The owner is arrogant & clearly doesn’t care about her customers! We ordered 3 lobsters yesterday, gave her an exact time when we’d arrive, communicated throughout the day, yet, when we arrived nothing was ready and we waited half an hour only to be told she didn’t realise it was us who waited for lobsters! The cafe was initially empty! When we entered the cafe, we told her we had a reservation, she said OK & disappeared in the kitchen. We travelled with 2 toddlers who were crying because they were hungry. The owner served other customers before us and she seemed a little dismissive. If she wasn’t happy with her job, perhaps she should close the place. Customer service - non existent.

On the harbour at St.Andrews with fresh food and good old fashioned kind hospitality. Here, children can buy inexpensive fishing reels, buckets and spades and much more! Fish and chips to eat at HARBOR CAFE ,after an exhausting but very enjoyable day at EAST SANDS, is one of St.Andrews best traditions.

Encontré este aplastante pequeño café en el lado del puerto justo antes del camino de la playa. Teníamos rollos de tocino y café que eran una excelente relación calidad-precio y muy sabroso también. El tocino se cocinó tal como se lo pidió y se sirvió con una sonrisa y una advertencia para recordar a las gaviotas (se registra de todos modos). Nos sentamos con nuestro perro y disfrutamos nuestro desayuno a la luz del sol de primavera. Este es un lugar encantador y el patrón era muy agradable, servicial y hablador. Gran menú también. No me puedo quejar.

Good service but food wasn’t that much great...!!

Un gran café para conseguir comida caliente y fría y té, café y refrescos si estás en la calle. Andrews, está situado en el puerto y tiene asientos dentro y fuera. Los baños públicos se encuentran cerca. La cafetería está abierta durante todo el verano y cierra en invierno. El dueño es educado y siempre tiene una sonrisa. Gran lugar para un aperitivo en su recorrido por la calle. Andrews.
