Was knowledged straight away as my friend and I entered. Was seated at a table of our choice and the menu was explained very clearly. Was served by Aaran, whom is an absolute asset to the company and deserves a pay rise. Customer service was excellent and very natural, Aaran made us feel at ease and looked after us from start to finish. The food was phenomenal! Great taste, great portion and great presentation. I've been here many times before, but it was the first time for my friend and even she said she'd be coming back very soon. HanBao Birmingham 10/10 I highly recommend this place.

Finally managed to get to Hanbao, for a burger, despite working not too far away. I had the Hanbao burger, as it seemed to be the signature burger. Whilst the rest of the group had piggy smalls and the maccdaddy Kane,, all vey good and up there with the best. Dirty Fries were good, I enjoyed the tiger fries and the resteraunt was nice and the service was good. The only down mark given was on the drinks, we had red stripe which was good and competitive at £6 ,but we ordered a red strip shandy, so half red stripe half lemonade, and we were charged £6 for half of red stripe and £2 for the lemonade, £8 for a shandy is enough to make me stick to Hangry moose ,or OPM. Although I’ll probably give it another try

This week I went to Birmingham on a Hinge date… tasty, I know. But do you know what? The tastiest thing was the food. My date told me we would head to Hanbao for great food. I did what 99% of patrons of this restaurant probably do. I assumed I was in for some amazing bao buns. Sadly, there was NONE to be had but my server Arun guided me to Shanghai-La via the amazing burger selection. Yes, burgers… because Hanbao is Mandarin for burger! What I like about this place is the fun, and dare I say, cheeky nature of the menu item names. I enjoyed the special side order of salt & pepper tots with my “Piggie Smalls” burger (Dry Aged Smash Patty, American Cheese, Slow Cooked BBQ Pulled Pork, BBQ Sauce, Crispy Fried Onions, Purple Slaw, Baconnaise, Glazed Seeded Bun) and my BBC fries. The burger was cooked to perfection and the dressings were perfectly balanced to give me a melt in the mouth dirty burger experience without the usual mess in my beard and dripping grease down my top. The BBC fries (Seasoned Regular Skin on Fries, Baconnaise, Bacon Bits, Grated Cheddar Cheese) were perfectly balanced. Too many times I order loaded fries and the kitchen over does the portion size. This leads to cold and damp fries at the bottom of the portion. No so here. Hot, dry, and perfectly formed top to bottom. Arun, you saved my Hinge date. If we get married (unlikely) you are guest of honour!

Absolutely first class burgers and our 8 year old said the chicken tenders were the best ever and she's a pretty tough critic. Really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back if we were back in Brum.

I loved the meal I had here. Incredibly tasty burgers and chips. Quite reasonably priced as well. The venue itself looked awesome and the staff were great. I hope to come again.

Yum burgers! Same consistent * quality * that we’ve had in Worcester. Biased review as had expectations! Everything on the menu is delish *. Not an extensive choice so reasonable to say, we’ve ate through pretty much all their options over the years. Decor in Digbeth is very minimal. Clean * Casual. Industrial/rustic/unfinished but trendy *. Good fun relaxed vibes. Service was friendly *, welcoming and efficient. Check it out if you’ve not been.

Great reviews. Interesting menu. Make a booking online. Turned up. Restaurant closed. Looked as though it had been closed a while. Went to Aluna instead. Had a great meal. Advice - call to make a booking, don't rely on online.

I'd been out with a group of chums to see "Dune: Part 2" (oh, and I have opinions about THAT!) and fancied something appropriately spicy afterwards: The spice must flow! We chose Rumana's on a recommendation from a friend's sister, and I'm glad we did. Their website says they "pride ourselves in treating our customers like members of our family", and it really felt like we were old friends visiting someone's home (especially with the well-behaved kids scooting around and being generally delightful - and I don't even like kids!) I think we were served by Rumana herself, and she was welcoming and helpful - a real pleasure to meet someone so engaged and enthusiastic about their restaurant, and being a great host. The other staff were also very polite and helpful, and knowledgable about the menu. Speaking of which: The menu has a selection of dishes which seem unusual and possibly unique to this restaurant. I won't go into too much detail about my friends' dishes, but all were given the thumbs up. The poppadoms came out first, of course, but the accompanying sauces need some props: Their chili-sauce-gravy thing was incredible (I almost asked if I could take some home). Most curry / balti restaurants in Brum seem to have their own 'red sauce' and it's not often one stands out as being extra-special and worthy of a paragraph of review: This was one of those special sauces. Spicy, tangy (tamarind?), thick, and with a huge amount of flavour. Well done, chef! For a starter, I had Shunamoti: I've never had a cheesy chicken tikka omelette before, but I will certainly have it again (and probably learn to make it at home). Very unusual, and very tasty. for my main, I decided to opt for something at the spicy end of the scale, and had to ask about the story behind "What the Bloody?!" (yes, that is what it is called) - no spoilers! You'll have to find out yourself. It warranted three chilis on the menu (not the hottest thing they serve), but this was a home-cooking 3 chilis and was at the top end of my spice tolerance (which is quite high), so be warned! I can recommend the mango lassi as a wonderful 'control rod' for the naga reaction. However: The dish was not just hot for the sake of being hot, but had a real depth of flavour, too. The accompanying roti was fluffy, fresh and hot. I am also reliably informed that their Peshawari Naan is one of the best my friend had ever had (and they lived in India for a while), drizzled with honey and with juicy sultanas embedded within. The restaurant is unlicensed, but there is a small shop over the road where you can buy booze if you need to. It's also next door to a 'Spoons if you want pre- or post-curry cask ales. Overall, a great experience. Northfield seems to be THE place for getting something authentic, unusual, and very tasty these days (I reviewed the equally excellent Omar Khayam a few weeks ago). I'll be back to explore the rest of the menu at some point: I definitely need to try the Atomic Chips!
