Golden Palace Llansamlet in Swansea

This place has really gone to the dogs! Up until a few years ago the food was delicious and we used it regularly (a couple of times a week sometimes) the chow main, as others have said has a really strange taste to it. We used to love the fried beef and mushrooms and the satay beef, but these have gone really poor down to the quality of the meat and the amount of meat in portions. The sauce has also changed and is very watery now. The only thing I can say is the chicken and prawn balls are some of the best I've tasted. Won't be using anymore, as I've noticed their hygiene rating has slipped to 3 also

Do not bother with this Chinese. We spent £60 as a family and half of it was inedible. The chow mein smelt and tasted gone off so that was avoided by everyone. The salt and pepper chicken was chewy and also tasted off. The prawn crackers tasted/smelt like smoke as if someone had been smoking near them. The whole thing was horrendous. A waste of money and a dodgy tummy. AVOID

Me and my Mrs, Naomi, order from here usually once a week. So much so that as soon as my girlfriend ring to place our order, they answer on a first name basis. I’ve genuinely never had a bad meal. Everything is always spot on. A personal favourite of mine is the salt and pepper chicken! Today unfortunately is Tuesday and because this Chinese closes on a Tuesday, Naomi and I have gone to another Chinese and it’s confirmed how good and how much we miss our local. (The golden palace) Naomi’s only eaten half her food and she can’t stop farting. She’s a right buzzer!

Nothing adventurous on the menu but food usually arrives hot , and portion size is good. Chips mot so good bit then , not meant to have chips really

I won't bore you woth the details bug it's just so.ply not good.. Aplarentlly people like their bbq sauce like gravy.... if thats the case why call it bbq saucre. Call it gravy. Their dishes contain far more sauce amd onions than meat and when o say sauce. I mean watered down near juice. I don't understand how they are so busy. We've been there twice in 2 years and have had 2 really bad meals. They are friendly and the place is clean and well run but I'm sorry.. we won't be going back. I know plenty of people who like it but I'm sorry. Not us.

Have always used & loved Saigon in Townhill but decided to give this place a try as we’ve moved nearer to the east side of town. Extremely disappointing - except the chicken balls. Service and speed was excellent but the food was watery and bland. I had mushroom curry which looked and tasted more like onion soup with a few mushrooms in and the egg fried rice I had looked and tasted like boiled white rice with a few bright yellow cubes in. My boyfriend had chicken chow mein which smelt like vinegar and chicken balls which, in fairness, were delicious. Parking in the area is also difficult. We will never go here again unless we just want chicken balls.

This Chinese takeaway is outstanding they get to know you by first name fantastic service and high quality food. If you want something different they will always try to make it to your taste. You can not fault their high quality food, service and it’s reasonable priced.

My husband went over to order and pick up the meal, he said that the ordering was fast and easy which is a good thing, we had chicken and mushroom curry with fried rice, king prawn with fried onions and prawn crackers. The chicken is not proper chicken but that cubed reformed chicken, not nice. The curry sauce did not have much taste to it at all to it. Prawns was ok. All together the food wasn’t terrible but not enough taste for us. I wouldn’t say not for anyone to go there, you may like it it just wasn’t tasty enough for our liking. overall we would not be going there again.

New to the area and this takeaway was recommended. Not disappointed. Excellent service, great food and reasonably priced.

Not much to say about Golden Palace except GREAT FOOD!!! Very polite when phoning for a delivery...service is excellent..friendly staff...Delicious food & fast delivery...

Le seul et unique restaurant dans le coin qu'on trouve sur une célèbre application mobile. La nourriture est délicieuse le service très rapide. Nous commandons à peu près chaque semaine et sommes jamais déçu. Je recommande vivement !

Considering the amount of people that were there it wasn't a long wait. Food was good. Went for the guys advice and although a bit spicy it was nice. Partner happy with her food too. Didn't have much between us but managed to so.egow spend £30 so can be about overpriced.

Spotlessly clean Chinese takeaway! Food is always beautiful and staff are very friendly and know us by name. The only downfall is they don't deliver very far (we get delivery) and they don't take card payments. Other than that overall lovely Chinese - one of my favourites.

El único problema con este lugar es que no aceptan pedidos de tarjeta sólo en efectivo y también sólo entregar localmente, de lo contrario tendrá que recogerlo. Aunque Hermoso personal chino y muy, muy amable, de pollo también está muy bien y no como la habitual basura desde China. 10 / 10

Excelente menú, la comida siempre caliente y sabrosa. Un gran servicio. Cerca de nuestra casa y nunca tuvimos que esperar, platos siempre a punto para ser recogidos.

Since we first had a delivery from them we have never used another Chinese delivery the food is always wonderful they do the best crispy beef and the man who normally takes the orders on the phone is great

Lovely curry sauce here but the ingredients in the special r a bit limited so I recommend beef no onions. Portion of mushrooms fried rice extra curry sauce pompadoms and a well done pancake roll tried a few other dishes not for me

First negative - it doesn't deliver!Second negative - small portions - the smallest in a take away we've ever come across!Third negative - tough beef - very tough! On the positive side both mine and hubby's meals were very tasty! Will we go again yes but we'll avoid the beef and as long as we don't see a cat - see previous reviews !

I love this takeaway. Not only is the service second to none, but the food is delicious. we have tried take aways from all over Swansea but always always come back to this one as they never fail to deliver stunning food.Only downside is that the don't have a delivery service :(

Placed a phone order to which i was told it would be ready in 10mins arrive to collect 15mins after phone call then proceeded to sit there waiting for another 25mins for my order whilst people came in and out collecting they're food and ordering over the counter and all getting dealt with promptly whilst i sat the waiting very disappointed to say the least

Always get my food from here past few years, such nice people, food always good and always hot, always on time if not sooner and the crispy beef is amazing

Living close the the Golden Palace it is the easiest option for a Chinese takeaway, and over the years we've had countless takeaways from there, but in all honesty its no where as good as it used to be when "Tony" owned it, plus the current owner, even though very friendly cant seem to understand that cats are not allowed on premise's that serve and prepare food.Last year I walked out due to a cat walking across the counter, then jumping down off the counter and disappearing into the kitchen.The nice chap serving didnt understand the problem, and just kept smiling when it was pointed out to him !That was last year so have things improved ???Yes its very busy on weekends and yes it has some decent reviews, but to say its the "best" Chinese takeaway in Swansea is laughable.The food is hot (as it should be), it is packed (as it should be) and the service comes with a smile, but as far as taste goes, sorry but its just a very very average Chinese takeaway. If you want an authentic tasting Chinese try the China chef in Skewen, (bit of a pain to park though), or the Shanghai Chef inn Penlan, theres also the Ho Wah in Penlan, all of these places are in my opinion far better than the Golden Palace, and theres plenty others like these.If you like good tasting food its well worth travelling away from the one on your door step, just because its convenient......We will pop into the Golden Palace now and then but only for a quick meal when we really cannot get to one of the other better takeaways located ALL over Swansea, but one more glimpse of that cat again and it will be our last visit to this very average convenient takeaway.

Golden palace in llansamlet Is by far the best takeaway for Chinese food. The potions are ample and it's always packaged really great. Always hot and don't mean spicy hot but hot to eat. Service is quick to. Just wish they would do a delivery service.

I have used the Golden Palace for years and no other take away compares. The staff are really friendly and always ask about my children when I go in and the food is delicious!

1st time using golden palace and will definitely be back. The food was hot, delicious and there was so much of it. Shout out to guy serving...ledge! 10/10 overall

Out of this world!!!! Eat hear all the time and if it was good for you then me and the missus would eat her every night... Absolutely class and the guy behind the counter knows your name before you even see him! Class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been to many takeaway's around Swansea Been going to Golden Palace for 35 years and it is by far the best. Bad points no delivery service and had trouble finding telephone number. Tony is very friendly

First time trying Golden Palace, I was told by a friend that it was a really nice chinese takeaway and I should definitely try it!We found the menu online and were shocked that for free prawncrackers the order needed to be over £25, at most chinese takeaways its £10 so we were shocked.We placed our orders over the telephone, only a few items. The person on the phone did advise me there was a delivery charge of £3 (which is not noted on their website)and were told it would be 40 mins.When the food arrived, me and my girlfirend decided to tuck in, I thoroughly enjoyed my chow mein, as the meat was cooked beautifully BUT now know that one portion is more than enough for 2 people!! Also found the sweet and sour chicken balls were cooked better than other takeaways, not greasy, but crisp and delicious, the sauce also wasnt too strong, which i preferred.The prawn crackers were ok, had a weird after taste.I enjoyed my food but think it could have been better, the chow mein is cooked similarly to other takeaways so maybe ill try the menu and find something more exciting for next time.

The Golden Palace used to be the Chinese to get a take away, but now since Tony has sold it on it's a bit disapointing.The food has lost it's taste, the portions have got smaller, and worse of all the new owners dont mind cats roaming around the place.The last time I was in there, a few weeks ago, a cat came in through the front entrance and was freely walking around the waiting area, it then jumped up onto the counter before disappearing through the kitchen door, when I told the guy behind the counter that he should not be having cats on the premises he just smiled at me, but didnt go to fetch the cat or apologise. Needless to say I left my order. The following day I reported this to the local Enviroment office, who said they would follow up the complaint at their next visit.Go to the China Chef over in Skewen instead. .

We ordered a variety of food from their online menu.Everything was tasty, but special mention must be made of their Kung Po Chicken!However, the prices listed online are outdated, as well as the offer of free prawn crackers on orders over £20. We spent about £22 and when my husband asked about the prawn cracker offer, he was told it had changed to orders over £25. However, the owner honoured what was advertised in their web page. Would definitely get takeaways again when visiting Swansea.

Best Chinese in swansea, food is out of this world we eat from here reqular and have never had a bad meal, really friendly staff who will go out of their way to help

I have tried many Chinese takeaways and this by far is the best I've ever tasted also they are the friendliest people you could meet trust my golden palace I will never have a Chinese from anywhere else well done
