Golden Bowl in Coleraine

This place was never on my radar when choosing a nice Chinese, but not anymore, it's become my go to, I won't get from anywhere else. Although with how busy it was tonight I'm not sure I want more people going there. Honestly still just as good as the first time, the food is tasty, the timings are great it's ready when they say it'll be.

Made order on line for (( CRISPY SHREDDED HONEY CHILLI CHICKEN . What I got .. Order 40 mins late I got slightly sweet gluey looking sauce with chunks of chicken floating about in very soggy batter ... With a few bits of carrots a onion (( NO CHILLI OR EVEN THE HINT OF A FRESH ONE .. DISGUSTING WENT IN TRASH CHIPS JOINED .. FRIED RICE DRY OVER COOOKED NO PEAS CHICKEN DRY ...(( WENT IN TRASH UNEDABLE... ONLY THING THAT WAS OK WAS THE CURRY SAUCE .... WILL NEVER EAT FROM HERE AGAIN WHEN I SPEND MY MONEY ON FOOD I EXPECT IT OF A DECENT QUALITY OR TO THE DESCRIPTION OF FOOD (( SHREDDED CHILLI )) NONE OF ABOVE .... DRIVER RUDE AND VERY HIGHLY despondent (( no sorry for being so late nothing grunted and WAKING away . I will never use this shop again ... Food is rotten !!! Promised a time ...40 mins late ...

The Golden Bowl food is first class. Been to Hong Kong the food is good, however the Golden Bowl Coleraine food is best. My favourite.......Special Chow Mein.

Shambles of a Chinese Restaurant. Waited for almost an hour for my order. The shop was understaffed, trying to cater for phone, Internet and walk in orders and also deliveries. When I got home my food was cold and the portions of rice missing. Absolutely a waste of time and money. Avoid at all costs!

Didn't really enjoy the food I got a chicken satay and and it was cold and it tasted awful didn't enjoy it to be honest I normally don't like leaving reviews but I have to put my word out there I'm sorry it just wasn't my cup of tea

Ordered 5.23pm Said be here 6.23pm 2 phone calls arrives at 8pm Another phone to ask was food cooked at 5.23pm and just sitting till thy delivered at 8pm only place it was going is bin disgusting will never eat out of here again not even worth a star

Ordered the green Thai prawn curry with extra vegetables. Usually I worry when I order a Thai dish from the Chinese but it was beautiful! One of the best I've tried. Added more vegetables too! Will be my go to order now.

Been going to this chinese for years. Best in town. Delivery can sometimes take a bit long. Staff are nice and welcoming.

just ordered chicken chow main and chicken balls was told delivery wud be 30 /45 mins max 1 hour and 35 mins later it arrives was cold and very gresey got bit grizzle in 2 pieces of chicken safe to say i wont be back

Terrible Food! All dishes tasted greasy and the beef was very chewy. A rock bottom takeaway!

SHOCKING FOUL SMELLING CURRY. Got home with a takeaway curry and began to serve it onto plates. We all noticed a very strong urine-like odour from the takeaway. We had to open the windows. I took the dish straight back to the Golden Bowl and explained it had a "strong urine odour". The polite worker at the counter called over the man who seemingly was the chef. I didn't even ask for a refund, just told him about the smell. He was aggressive and argued "some of it was missing" and that "If you buy a shirt from the shop, you cannot use it and return it". The man was dressed in casual clothing and the premises looked unclean. The next day I saw a few workers, now dressed in white uniforms and hats, tidying the place, presumably worried they might be reported. Terrible experience!

Food consistently good, delivered within the time frame they tell you by friendly drivers. Couldn't fault it!

I have used Golden Bowl for well over 15 years and the gradual decline over the past year is very apparent. Missing orders, portion size, taste, all contributes to the poor review. I have given the benefit of the doubt for so many times but definitely will never order from here again. Tonight I waited 75-80 mins for an order. Cold ribs and I mean cold ie fridge! Slimy chicken and the other chicken dish had actual burnt ends. Sorry enough is enough. Spend your money elsewhere

Took a takeaway dish back to complain about its strong urea-type smell and instead of getting an apology, I was met by a chef was rude and confrontational, refusing a refund I hadn't even asked for. Worst takeaway experience ever.

It's not too bad I got a beef and black bean sauce but I do prefer from Little Chef in Lurgan of course I'm a little bit biased because I live in Lurgan

Went here 7/5/1983 after a night out, I was shocked by the portion sizes I nearly fainted! I ordered a small chip and I received one chip. the chip was nice but i would have preferred more (at least 2 would have sufficed). I might come back to try it again but other than that I would completely recommend.

I've gotten takeout from here for the better part of 10 years now and cant remember a single bad order. I've never had bad-tasting food from here nor have the staff ever been rude or incompetent. never had missing food or very late food (at most 10 delivery minutes extra) never been slow when in the shop. it's always been a great experience when I've order from there. they will pretty much always have my support and custom

I ordered ours an hour before I picked it up still not ready!! the 2 girls are horrible don’t smile so unhappy are just horrible,it’s really expensive and a lot would agree

Ordered this chinese on the app and got told to wait 60 to 70 minutes which i was okay with but still waiting and its been an hour so I phoned up to ask what was going on and they said it would be another half hour on top of waiting not even a sorry or nothing.. unacceptable , absolutely ridiculous... tbh if I didnt have to leave a rating star I wouldn't cause it doesn't deserve a rating... very unhappy its been 2 hours now ... ridiculous how they treat they costumers!!!! Very unhappy !!! Wont be back to this restaurant

Absolutely delicious, I'd say the best Chinese in the area - Definitely my new local You know that idea of what a Chinese is going to be like in your head? That feeling when you're looking a takeaway and only a Chinese will do? Well try one of these and it will not disappoint I've had a good few different ones around Coleraine/Portrush area and this one blows them out of the water. The food is cooked in front of you so you know it's fresh and not reheated Dish Recommendations: Vegatable Chow Mein ; add chips and curry and chicken balls for a full feed for 2/3 people

Terrible service and rude staff/owners . Short changed me and told me it was a mistake and it would be rectified when I called in. I duly called in when they next opened 5 days later and was told the staff member had lied about incident and they wouldn't do anything . Told me to leave and laughed in my face . Another customer came in who had been short in her order the previous week and was also told on the phone to mention when next in. She did this and was immediately sorted out . I asked why I was being treated differently and staff/owner completely ignored me. If I could award zero stars I would .

After being short changed by £10 I rang and spoke to staff member 5 minutes later . She advised a mistake had been made and to call in. My details were taken. The shop was closed for 5 days after this and on the first opportunity I called in . I was informed by extremely rude owner that nothing could be done as staff member had lied about the incident . She was not present . He talked over me constantly and told me to leave and come back on Monday . Lady who was working there was just as bad. They laughed at me and then refused to speak and give their names. While I was there another customer came in who had been short in her food order the last week. She also rang in and was told to come in and speak to staff. Her problem was rectified immediately and when l questioned the staff why I was treated differently they completely ignored me. If I could award zero stars I would . Absolutely terrible service and treatment of customers. Avoid!!!!

Food greasy and smelt greasy. Very disappointing. Got chicken chow main and as soon as I opened the box I smelt the grease. Old and stale. This was my 2nd meal , giving a 2nd chance because railway diner was closed. Last nights was cold. Wont be back. Would NOT recommend

Placed an order at 18.05, we were told that it would be about 45 mins which was fine, no delivery at 20.00,we called and were told bluntly that order was out for delivery are she did not care very much , order arrived at 20.15, rubbish service, order sent back, I’m sure some other person received this lukewarm pile of @@@@

Ordered a meal at 18.20 and was advised that it would be about 40 mins, that was fine, still no delivery at 20.00, it finally arrived at 20.20 , absolutely terrible service, we called and got a awful response from the shop or whatever you could call it .will never use again !!

The Golden bowl chinese around 5 years ago was satisfactory a good B choice chinese however now they are regarded as one of the best chinese takeaway restaurants in the North Coast. During Covid 19 pandemic it is extremely useful to order via the App and Pre-Pay and collect at necessary order collection bays with 0 contact. The standard of the food has gone from strength to strength. Very well priced and an excellent choice if you wish to eat alone, with friends/family or even for entertaining business guests. I can reassure you Nobody will be disappointed!!! Hope they keep up the fantastic work and this takeaway continues to strive for years to come!

I've used this Chinese four or five times now ringing in my order and the food is tasty and we had no complaints about that at all and had planned to keep using it as its quite local, however on my last visit, I called in and ordered our food, and whilst waiting was astounded at the dirt on the floor corners and around the main doors etc. Should somewhere cooking and serving food not keep its waiting area clean, I'm not talking about a few hours foot traffic I'm talking about the thick dirt in the corners and nooks and crannies of the waiting area, totally put me off my takeaway, this has annoyed me because the food and service were good and we did like the place.

I ordered at at 6.50pm it is now 8.40pm and I have still not received my food. They said it would be delivered at 7.35pm? We have rang 3 times and yet the women keeps saying that he is 10 mins away, still no food. Not impressed.

Our local no more..Last 2 times we ordered beef & black bean sauce and it had no sauce in it.Tonight we had honey chilli chicken and was rotten. No taste of honey or chilli in the children and the sauce was watery. The noodles & rice were both cold. The staff were also arguing with each other during our wait.Never going there again.

Our local Chinese which we order from every week up until now!! Service on a Saturday evening is absolutely shocking, staff moe interested on answering the phone than actually serving the customers in the shop , had rang in a telephone order and went round to collect it at the time they said , stood 20 mins waiting to be served and ended up walking out , but they kept answering the phone and taking more orders , won’t be back !!!!!

Great wee Chinese absolutely love their sliced chicken and chips with peas and gravy no other Chinese on the road can beat it and it's cheap enough too.

Had a very good dinner for 4 , everyone enjoyed with plenty for all. Handy to town and parking on site. Everything cooked in front of you.

I had a take away out of the golden bowl and I found a big hair in my mixed grill I phoned ot report it but the girl on the phone was condasending and abusive on the phone when I asked to speak to someone in charge they hung up (great customer service)NOT

Me and my partner made a order on the 8th of April my partner found a hair in his duck and black bean I also found a hair in my prawn and mushroom it is disgusting i will never be eating out of Golden Bowl again. I Recommend to the chef's to wear a hairnet if you have any idea what it is 😂😂😈😈

Chanced a Friday lunchtime special. Not normally open at lunchtime the two cooks were in preparing for usual evening rush. Asked for crispy chicken with fried rice and curry sauce. Good portions and very tasty.

Great Takeaway with ample parking and good menu. Delivery is an option and food is generally on time. The menu is really extensive.

He estado aquí varias veces para llevar y nunca me ha decepcionado.Me pareció que el pareció excelente y porciones de tamaño más que decente.Puede estar muy concurrido y he esperado en promedio de 15 a 20 minutos, pero en mi opinión, bien vale la pena la espera.Sin duda allí de nuevo la próxima vez que esté en Coleraine.Sin duda lo recomiendo.

Como otros han señalado también llamó a través de un pedido. 30 minutos más tarde llamé a recoger sólo para encontrar que esperar en la tienda de otros 40 minutos. Eso es mucho tiempo para una familia para esperar la cena. Dicho esto, siempre he encontrado la comida es genial, sabroso y buen tamaño de las porciones.

Hicimos un pedido por teléfono. Cuando llegamos a casa, nos dimos cuenta de que la orden era incompleta, así que nos llamó para informarle de ello. El miembro del personal me sugirió que esperar hasta la próxima vez que hicimos un pedido que este tema falta sustituirá. Ahora me explicó que esto significaba que tenía una comida y pidió que fomente la prenda que se había perdido se entregan a mí como yo vivo 5 millas desde la llevar y era incapaz de recoger. Ella estuvo de acuerdo conmigo, sin embargo, 1 hora y 20 minutos más tarde todavía estamos esperando ... traeré a mi a medida en otro lugar en el futuro.

I have been coming to this takeaway for over ten years, Never have I had a bad meal from there can't understand why these other comments are not positive.

Utilizamos para pedir regularmente desde esta para llevar pero que se la orden equivocado y si llegamos a conseguir que nos hicieron que sentarse por 20 minutos después diciendo que estaría lista en 30 minutos y te lo que les da tiempo para prepararse. actitud y teléfono con contestador personal terrible.

Food from this take away is of a good standard for a Chinese takeaway but they seem to struggle to get orders correct. Two weeks in a row our order has been wrong....missing sauces and noodles not as we asked them to be. When called to tell them, their customer service was terrible. Would not recommend if you want an order correct or in a reasonable time frame!
