Placed our order, collected, and drove home 20 minutes to discover the order was incorrect and was missing a main (which I verified on phone call whilst placing the order) so phoned them and they tried arguing with me saying I never ordered it, so they expected us to drive another 20 minutes each way to collect…which they clearly admitted it was their fault by offering us to collect AVOID!!!

Worst Chinese I have ever had! Extremely disappointed. Completely over priced, small portions and the curry sauce was like eating cigarette ends. Will not be returning!

Ordered spare ribs and a portion of chips last night, chips were hard and overdone and hardly any meat on ribs, in fact 3 of them were just bone and the rest were to tough to chew. Won't be ordering from them again. Total waste of money.

Paid nearly £11 for crispy beef and chips… how it took less than two minutes to prepare? Because the beef was chewy, the chips were terrible, and the sauce was 99%sugar and 1% red dye…. Been coming here for three decades on and off due to the convenience… no longer, thats the last… you have been warned

Tried this takeaway for the first time. Went for the safe option of Chicken Curry and Fried Rice. Curry sauce tasted like a mix of cigarettes and bisto gravy. Struck this one off my list.

Accustomed as I am to food from our Chinese cousins and being originally from the area, I decided last Saturday to purchase an extensive meal for my parents and three of my children. Having perused the menu (standard fayre) I decide on my 'usual' Yeung chow fried rice , beef with mushrooms, chips and a barbecue sauce. My 9 year old went for his 'standard issue' King prawn with Cashew nuts. The whole meal came to £80.10 which was about the right price these days (since the government printed millions of new pounds in furlough cash and flooded the economy with it; we now all enjoy the 'almost' magical effect of inflation) and I proceeded to present my card to the straight-faced front of house assistant. My first 'faux pas' it seems as I was instructed to pootle off to the cashpoint as this was a cash-only environment. Perhaps an audit by HMRC could be in order here. . Anyway, cash it was so I took out £80 and handed it over to the expectant lady along with the necessary shrapnel and waited patiently for my food. To be fair the wait was a work of a moment and we were off home to enjoy the food. Got home and started dishing out the feast! Everything was there except my barbecue sauce, or at least I thought so. I was presented with a small tub of brown liquid by my mum who at this point informed me that this particular Chinese doesn't do chinese barbecue sauce and it was more of a 'gravy'. Undeterred and ravenous I opened the pot and dipped in my first chip. Mum was right.... an overwhelming taste of bisto, stock and sadness. What is going on here? I was so disappointed I chucked the sauce away and decided to move on to the main event, my go-to meal, the one that never fails. Alas, there was to be no triumphant end to this feast, as I opened the carton I immediately noticed that same Bisto aroma in the air.. (Just for clarity I am not sponsored by Bisto and there are other gravy granules available in the marketplace). Can't be right I thought but to my horror the first mouthful did indeed taste of gravy. I like gravy just as much as the next man, just not with Chinese food or rice please. On the flip-side the Yeung Chow fried rice was delicious and absolutely deserves a star. Beware the gravy, or anything with mushrooms. Choose wisely...

Had a takeaway from Godfreys for the first time in years, and was truly disappointed, ordered special chow mein which the most expensive one I have ever bought, not much meat and very salty, have paid less elsewhere and had much better quality, also ordered sweet & sour pork, pork in batter with separate sauce, there was hardly any meat as it was just like crispy pieces of batter but did manage to find a couple of pieces of meat which were tiny which matched the portion size. Would never go back and would definitely not recommend. Even Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he robbed you.

We were very excited about trying Godfrey as we read some good reviews about this place. Unfortunately it was very disappointing experience. Very average tasting food.First time ever my partner didn't finish his Chinese. They prices don't justify quality of the food.

If this is the best Chinese in Bridgend then things have gone downhill…… Tried this place on the advice of a workmate and it’s dire. Noble House in Pencoed is a much better alternative.

Great Chinese always good food

This is now our go to Chinese. Phone order through arrange a time food is always ready freshly cooked and piping hot. All staff we have come in contact with are very polite and pleasant. They only take cash but there is an A.T.M next door. There is a wide selection on the menu and we have never had a bad meal from there.

Been using godfreys for many years, never had a bad one. And yes it can be busy on the weekends but that's because it's a blinking good and popular Chinese

God, they are so busy all of the time. They don't take any rudeness off customers. The girls are always helpful. If I don't know a certain meal, they will explain the meal to me. That's when I make my choice.

Shambles Yes it was new year's eve, but....... Ordered at 6pm, told one hour. Arrived at 7pm to pay and only then they submit the order??????????? Waited and watched refund after refund be given, people waiting over an hour. Waited an hour, as it is NYE, then politely asked the overworked lady on the till manning the phones, taking payments and handing out the orders. To be told my order had not gone in and was still on the counter. Owners need to review their practices for these busy nights, felt sorry for the lady, clearly over worked. So 10hr working day for me to wait over 2 hours for non existent Chinese. Not a happy customer, as is evident 🙄 Will not recommended or have the pleasure of trying their good food........ supposedly!

Good is usually excellent. Was full of salt this time absolutely awful. When I called to make the manager aware just to take on some feedback. He said I wanted a freebie???? Absolutely disgusting food and disgusting service. Unfortunate

How this place gets away with ysing cash only is a joke!! The taxman could do with having a look!! For years they have only accepted cash and I would love to see how much they declare on the tax returns!! and how many of the staff are emplyed through a PAYE system!! The food is ok not the best but ok!

We have tried many different Chinese takeaways but none of them rival Godfrey. The food is fresh tasty and highly aromatic. Their chips are not greasy and neither are the vegetable spring rolls. They do not use soy sauce. We have always called ahead to place our order because the food is cooked fresh. And it saves having to wait in the car. There are places to park outside the take away anyway as well as a cash machine because Godfrey only takes cash payments .

This place has been operating from the triangle for as long as I can remember and I don't think they've ever got my order wrong and I've never had any reason to complain. The menu isn't as expansive as some other Chinese takeaways whicb is probably a good thing as Godfreys food always feels fresher and less stodgy than it's competitors!

This is quite possibly the best Chinese I've been to. It was the first Chinese my dad visited when he moved to Bridgend 30 years ago and it is always my family's first choice since, even all these years later! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food fantastic and good value for money.

Regularly have a Chinese takeaway from Godfrey takeaway in the Triangle shopping centre. We have been customers for over 25 years and never had a bad meal . Often pop in for a Curry, Rice and Chips after going for a few pints locally !

Always a good meal from here if you're prepared to wait.

Food was very tasty, can't fault it really. Good choice of dishes, come in decent portions (rice could be a bit larger otherwise great). Less greasy than some local Chinese restaurants. Collection only, however it does not take long to wait, even on busy days. Would recommend.

Really nice food, and cooked quickly

Despite living relatively close to this establishment, I had never ordered from Godfrey's before tonight and man alive it was an EPIC let down. Admittedly, I didn't order much and opted for my 'safe go-to' dishes: sweet and sour chicken balls, crispy chilli beef chicken fried rice with an extra portion of barbecue sauce. The sweet and sour chicken balls, pretty much standard but the sauce was akin to thickened vinegar with red food colouring - very unpleasant! The crispy chilli beef, well that was something to behold - the beef was indeed crispy but the sauce used was the exact same as that used in the sweet and sour chicken ball dish with the addition of a few chopped green chilli's, it was all kinds of wrong. The chicken fried rice, well if that saw the inside of a wok then I will buy and eat a hat!! Boiled rice, strips of flavourless chicken and a scattering of green peas - utterly bland are the words I would use here! Then the pièce de résistance, the barbecue sauce - I'm sorry, but that was 100% Bisto beef gravy (and not the kind from a jar either!) with some sort of attempt at seasoning - it was inedible. On the whole, an awful take away experience, one in which I won't be repeating again - highly UNRECOMMENDED!

Lived in brackla for 10 years. Never eaten from here for good reason based on word of mouth. But tonight i regrettably did.

This is our favorite take away by far, the quality of the food is superb, clean and very tasty. The curry sauce is 100% delicious and the BBQ ribs have wonderful quality meat and lots of it. They don’t deliver but I would rather drive and know that I will get quality food at the end of it.

Food came with id say about 2 teaspoons of curry sauce on my set meal then the chicken balls were slimy and some had shades of grey on the chicken which turned me sick to my stomach after I had only realised while I started eating the second and I could tell there was something not quite right with this chicken , then while I was waiting for my food I needed a tissue so I asked the woman behind the counter ( who is very rude and blunt every time I've been in there) very nicely if I could please have a tissue, her response was "no" , over priced compared to many other excellent Chinese's around the Bridgend area.

Use Godfreys Takeaway at the Triangle Brackla on a regular basis . Collection is normally 15-30 minutes and cooked fresh . Another lovely meal.

Absolutely amazing takeaway. The best chicken balls we've ever had... and we've had a few. The only improvement they could make would be to offer a delivery service, so that we could avoid having to leave the house.

These are not on the menu but I order them every time I eat there, they are moreish. This is the best Chinese in the town centre/Brackla area.

Food is so nice It's a shame it does not offer delivery service. I would definitely suggest anyone going there. It's best 2 ring in order rather than waiting.

Godfreys Chinese in Brackla Bridgend is a Regular local chinese meal for our family .

Typical "can't be bothered to cook" night so tried the closest Chinese. The food had taste, plenty of it and hot. But it was not outstanding. Would go again if in a pinch. Good if you have a 10 pints in you or need a quick fix.

This is close to where we live and the chips are fab however I would love to add a fish to these but currently the fish has skin on it and as I come from Yorkshire I am a terriblefish and chip snob so that is a big no no as it's a bit lazy and makes the fish taste different.
