Great menu, something for everyone. Good wine list. Well presented Very decent portions...Restaurant open to non-residents too...TRY IT Ask for Marina she is fantastic..

I ate here on two occasions during a recent stay. On both nights I was offered two menus; an a la carte and a set price menu with a choice of one, two or three courses. The food was absolutely delicious. I has the 2 course set menu on both occasions and can recommend both the lamb and the steak. I LOVED the garnish of spinach and tiny mushrooms (Enoki?). The goats cheese starter was amazing and the cheeseboard very good. There is a reasonable wine list. I would definitely eat there again and look forward to another visit. (Hotel is good too!)

The restaurant had a very good selection, a very well priced 3 course set menu with choice. Plus a bar menu that offered a variety of very reasonably priced alternatives.

We visited today for my mum's birthday and had a 3 course meal each and wow it was wonderful and full of flavour. Sammy looked after us really well, thank you. The jam sponge pud was absolutely huge and one of the best I've had. We all had a lovely meal and will be back soon, hopefully next month? Thank you. 😁

We ate here for both evenings during our stay at the hotel. A great choice of either A La Carte or bar menu. A La Carte had a good selection of starters, Mains of Chicken, Lamb, Steak, Fish or Vegetarian and some nice desserts

Had Afternoon Tea here for my Mums 90 birthday and was so delighted with it. With just a small gathering of 11 we where able to have the rear of dinning room which was perfect. The tables where dressed lovely and the food was beautiful and in abundance and the tea flowed. Nothing was to much trouble for our 2 lovely waitresses. This little gem is on my door step only 10 minutes away so I will be back.

All the meals were cooked to perfection and presented well. Everything is freshly cooked and piping hot when it arrives at the table. Nice restaurant for an evening out.

On the experience of the first dinner we booked again for two days later. We were not disappointed. This is a restaurant I would use regularly if I lived closer. The quality of food and standard of presentation was what I would expect at rosette or a Michelin star restaurant. Not pretentious, just good food prepared and presented well. Whilst not the widest range of choice, what they do, they do well.

Excellent food, expertly presented. Decided to eat in on the second as well, as the first evening. Good friendly staff nothing was to much trouble. We also had breakfast on both days again this was to the same standard as the meals in the evening .Would definitely recommend it. IT IS WORTH BOOKING FOR AN EVENING MEAL ON ITS OWN.

Having not dined here for many years, and changes of ownership intervening, it was an interesting evening - the grounds could be lovely but the only table was rotting fast and not enough was made of the lovely surroundings despite being near to the A14. The staff who looked after us were very good, and food certainly very acceptable, highlighting the chicken and amazing lamb, but settling the bill for 4 of us was a nightmare and took a good 20 mins - this rather unfortunate problem needs to be ironed out quickly......

Had dinner whilst a guest at the hotel. Really tasty food, well cooked and unfussy complete with very friendly staff. Great value and a very enjoyable meal.

We visited Ipswich to attend a wedding. The location was easy to find and the experience was excellent with really helpful staff. The room was a good size with a comfy bed.

From the front this place isn't much to look at but once you walk around the back it's like you've been teleported to a stately home in the country. The food looked a little pricey (compared to the thifty prices I prefer to pay) however the menu looked delightful. Each course was beautifully presented and tasted even better! Very rich flavours and all of us cleared our plates. This is somewhere I'd recommend to any one who fancied a meal that tasted a little more up market. Will definitely be arranging to come and eat here again very soon! I just wish I had known about this place sooner!

Ten of us visited this restaurant. We were welcomed in a warm and genuine way. Ok we booked ahead but the service and food was great. The quantity of food was generous and the service was quick. Recommend you try yourself ideal for Sunday lunch.

The Gatehouse restaurant is in the Best Western Gatehouse hotel, like the hotel very charming restaurant. The food is just excellent and all cooked to order and all at a great resalable price to, great service and lovely staff to.

I ate off the mid-week fixed price menu, had 2 courses for £17.95, Filo Prawns with sweet chilli sauce for starter and a fantastic local rump of lamb with fondant potato, courgette and carrot noisettes and a bearnaise sauce, fantastic! Best piece of Lamb I have had in ages! No fat, no gristle, perfectly slightly pink, moist and beautifully tender. I didn't ask for tomato sauce!!

ate here for 2 nights and 2 breakfasts during a short break - the food is really very good indeed. the service not quite so good due to inexperience, but the smiles and 'can do' attitude of the staff that were on duty during our stay made up for that! Well done!

Went for dinner and were very well looked after. Staff friendly, food good. Excellent value so now checking out there sister hotel Claydon Country House Hotel. Well worth a visit. They do a great deal on food at the weekend.
