Frank's Frying in Teignbridge

Never knew this fish and chip shop existed until we found the reviews for it on here. Thought we'd give it a try and we were not disappointed. Lovely white flakes of fish, fried well and tasty chips, all at a reasonable price. We will go again when next in the area.

Friendly Staff, Great Atmosphere, Just called in to get some chips while on holiday and will definitely call again, curry sauce is amazing. 10/10 and 5 Stars. Many Thanks Guys 👍

Spent a week in Dawlish first chip shop we came across took fish and chips back to the park we were on couldn't believe it mouth watering at it's best tried a burger the next night you couldn't believe how much you can get on the bun do not pass the plaice ( get it plaice fish ) by the photos on the walls sent me back to my childhood big 5/5 thanks all round

Excellent friendly efficient service and more importantly superb fish and chips! I had cod as they were out of Hake and it was delicious as was the batter, as were the chips!

Absolutely superb. Alway order from here and never had a bad meal. Staff are always friendly regardless of how busy they are. Expect a short wait because it’s no secret that Frank’s is best. Honestly, so much better than “Chip Annoy” ;)

Been once here and never again. Rude staff and awful food. Uncooked, soggy pie and what looks and tastes like frozen crinkle chips. The only half decent item was the fish. Ridiculously overpriced. My go to chippy is chip ahoy, amazing food! Proper old skool fish and chips!.

Popped in for some scampi, it was delicious and freshly fried. They very generously gave me some chips free of charge as well!

Went into Franks after a family recommendation and have to say the experience was wonderful. Although the takeaway was very busy, the couple were working fast, efficiently and with a smile on their faces. Both of them were lovely and the food tasted fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back and would recommend to everyone!

Franks fish and chips are just superb. Delicious crispy batter with succulent steaming flaky cod. A hefty portion of golden crinkle cut chips are the icing on the cake. Simple and brilliant. Traditional seaside fare at its glorious best. The owner/couple behind the counter are friendly and welcoming and chatted amiably whilst we waited. Service is quick. My only disappointment was we couldn’t sit inside to eat as there were just a couple of stools pressed against the window. Photos elsewhere seemed to suggest you could eat in. But no matter, we’re here for the grub and it was just fantastic. Highly recommended.

What’s lovely lady. We had haddock and chips which was proper traditional chippy food. Good quality too. She gave us some salt and vinegar to take away as we forgot to bring ours on our holiday. Then when I asked for a sausage for the dog she wrapped it up and winked at me to say you can have than one on us. Not many shops would have done that. I highly recommend this chippy because the food is good and the service is exceptional!

Having seen that gluten free fish and chips are always available we called in to give it a try. All gluten free items are prepared separately, although it was a busy Friday evening we did not have long to wait, and we noticed several other gf orders. The gluten free cod was very good, my partner had gf haddock which she also enjoyed. The crinkle cut chips were ok but not special, the mushy peas were good. We will be back again to try more.

A proper North West chippie in the South West. The best fish and chips I've had in a long time. A lovely firm, white piece of hake in light crisp batter with plenty of chips and mushy peas (with a complimentary small side of 'Irish' curry sauce that went very well with the fish). My husband had the 'Hollands' meat pie (especially brought down from Manchester) and it was excellent. Lovely friendly couple running the place too. I wish all chippies were this good!

Came here while in dawlish it was absolutely amazing as usual. I had chicken nuggets my partner had fish cake and we had chips, best chips ever. Quick and sufficient service. food nice and hot can't fault this place at all can't wait to be back.

Amazing Fish and chips also get scraps if you ask. Really friendly staff

They serve crinkle cut chips, which is s rarity, but a few of them were too thinly cut. The length of time to be served and to receive the order was lengthy. Staff need to remove gloves and then replace when using the till for hygiene.

When we decided to visit we checked out reviews on good old seaside fish and chips and when we read the reviews we knew we had to try, and we were not disappointed, the weather may have been gloomy but the fish and chips made up for that. Freshly made to order light batter and great great crinkle chips, had gravy with mine but of course my husband had mushy peas. Do not miss out if you find yourself in the area yummy.

Really good on the allergen front. Had all the information ready to go, but more than that they had the allergen chart posted for you to check yourself. Food was good too.

We popped in here on our last day in dawlish for supper ...2 large haddock and chips freshly cooked.. the sever was lovely the fish cooked perfectly ..one of the best I've had ..I will be back on my return to the area

Called in here as we have Coeliac in the family. To our amazement there was an entirely gluten free section on the menu! The children were thrilled to have options to choose from. We tried most things on the menu over the course of two visits.... The food was too delicious not to visit more than once! The staff were super friendly and treated us as though we were locals, the food was cooked to perfection - nice crispy batter all round. They even had gluten free vinegar for the chips. I felt really safe eating here as the staff were all really knowledgeable about gluten free eating and everything was cooked in separate fryers. A must visit if you're looking for gluten free fish and chips in Dawlish!

Last year when we were Down on our holiday in Dawlish we came across this chip shop with great Google reviews, so we thought we would give it a go, needless to say a year later we were down in Dawlish again and have returned to Frank's Frying as we were so blown away with the quality and size portions, really great food and very friendly lady who serves, this is now our family favourite for when we are on holiday! Loves that the chips are crinkle cut too like who would of knew that would make such an awesome little difference!! The Lloyd Maunder Cajun chicken burger is beaut! If you're in the area debating to try this place, do yourself a favour and try it!! You will be back

I visited Frank's twice while I was staying in Dawlish. Having Gluten Free options at a chippy was my main reason but the food was so good I ended up going twice. I had the Gluten Free cod and chips with a Gluten Free curry sauce too, the food was excellent on both occasions. Really worth a visit if you are in the area, the staff were really nice and welcoming too.

We came as a family to try the chippy for dinner and we weren't disappointed. Lovely fresh cod and chips and our grandson devoured his chicken burger dipping it into the curry sauce. The staff and owners are lovely and treat everyone as though they are loyal customers. We had our dog with us which they spotted and gave her 2 sausages, saying she was a good girl waiting as it was busy. If your down in Dawlish you should definitely try it out. No pics this time as I was Starvin Marvin.

Vegetarian chips! Not fried in animal fat and not cooked with meat items. Also a decent vegetarian menu. Portions were massive and the food was really lovely.....as were the staff, despite being hot, busy and incredibly short staffed! Definitely the best fish and chip shop in Dawlish.

Wonderful little chip shop, staff catered to dietary requirements immediately and were so friendly, such a jovial atmosphere whilst waiting for the food. A great experience for someone needing gluten free food.
