Myself and friends met for a meal last night and I can honestly say the food was amazing. All meals came freshly cooked and the massaman curry was sublime. The service was excellent 👌 We will definitely be coming back

Having read the reviews I agree with 75%. The restaurant is Thai, old, cranky, grubby, so I agree with some comments. The service is debatable, when they are busy it is terrible, when it is quiet it is OK. All the waiting staff are college student, so they don't particularly care. The problem seems to be both the Thai people there are in the kitchen, so they don't see what's going on front of house. HOWEVER - The food is different, fresh, tasty, well presented. Dim Sum, Satay Kebabs, tasty sauces and pickles. Great soups. Soft shell crabs, fragrant tasty curries, super jasmine rice, superb noodles and stir fry's. Lemon Chicken is great.

45 minute wait for service. Staff just kept walking past, not even looking at the table. Seemed very disorganised. We just got up and left.

This is the worst meal we have had , it was disgusting, a chicken pad thia that tasted like a whole bag of sugar had been put in the meal , we also got a coconut mushroom soup looked like dishwater and also very very sweet , we phoned the restaurant to say the meal was dreadful all we got was well alot of people like are food we told them it was dreadful, we wish we had read the reviews first

Don't let the dated décor put you off, my friend and I always have a good meal here. While the prices may put some off, I've been here in the past with a friend of mine who spent several years in Thailand and she rated the food here very well! The standout tonight though was the waitress who was attending to our table; she was attentive, polite, and juggled being part-waitress, part-hostess, part-barmaid, part-dessert chef admirably.

Avoid at all costs terrible service food was barely edible and over priced decor is awful dirty seats and the coke was served out of two litre bottles and flat 🤢

Really poor meal. Cost was extortionate for both the quality and quantity of the food. Would be surprised to pay this for London prices, let alone Scunnie town centre!!!!

Absolutely disgusted with both the food and customer service tonight. Ordered 2 set banquets for 2 people.. so 4 people in total. After driving from Normanby to collect we brought it home to have only received one of the banquets. We rang the restaurant and informed them of the issue, they then went on to blame just eat for the order being wrong when on the receipt it clearly stated the 2 banquets for 2 people. They requested we drove back into town to collect the other half of the order, We asked if they would re do the whole order so we could all eat together to which they refused and advised that we microwaved the other half when we returned. The food we had received was awful. We had ordered a fish sweet and sour dish as extra which tasted awful and all the fish was dry. The Thai soup tasted like dish water. None of the dishes we received were tasty or hot it was only just edible. This is such a shame as when we have previously eaten in the restaurant it has been faultless, however after tonight we are extremely disappointed and have wasted over £100.

Four of us visited the Exotic Thai this evening ( not very exotic surroundings), for a birthday meal. All started out well but it wasn’t long before disappointment set in- the starters were overcooked - so rather dry but still quite tasty. The main meals were okay but the prawn dish priced at £10.95 was the biggest disappointment, lots of noodles but only two prawns. We asked if this was normal and was told it was which shocked us greatly. We have never eaten anywhere else where a main dish has literally no main ingredient in its dish. The boss was quite unreceptive to our complaint and wasn’t interested at all in keeping the customer happy or our experience positive so needless to say we will not be frequenting this establishment agin and wouldn’t recommend it. To be fair Scunthorpe has a large selection of restaurants which are far superior to Exotic Thai. If the owner is reading this I would recommend that you take a good look at how you can improve your customer experience and up your game and definitely take customer complaints seriously and accept some positive criticism about the portion sizes you are serving.

Overpriced, stingy portions, even the Prawn Crackers (from a packet)... were stale. 4 ribs in one portion!...............really?? Starters from a supermarket would have been better. Need to do much much more to survive in these times and at those prices....

Spent £45 on what was enough to feed 1 person not to mention everything was stone cold when it arrived and didn't really resemble authentic Thai it was actually quite bland, certainly won't be going back. Deliveroo said it would arrive in 45 minutes and it took 3 hours,not sure whos fault that is.

Everything was amazing. The waitresses looked after me amazingly, the meal was cooked to perfection and I was not waiting forever.

Having not been eating out for a little while my darling wife surprised me with a valentine meal at the Exotic Thai, fantastic I thought. But, oh, what a BIG mistake - & Never again. We set off early enough to give us time to try the newly refurbished Blue Bell before heading just down the road to the formerly, much enjoyed Thai. As we entered the restaurant, prompt for our 7:30 booking we saw a good number of seats filled & expected that the rest would soon fill up. Our table wasn’t ready but hey, a few minutes waiting didn’t concern us & we were shortly shown to our seats. That’s where it all fell apart! After 15 minutes we had to ask the young lady who was waiting the tables for a menu, a further 15 minutes on & we had to ask for her to come and take our order for drinks! All very jovial but little in the way of knowing what she was actually doing! The drinks finally arrived & surprisingly both were correct, one plus I suppose. It was at this point I tried my luck at getting the usual prawn crackers & her response was ‘oh so sorry lol, I’ll get you some extras to tied you over too!’🤔 Then several tables were getting frustrated with the 90minute wait (YES 90 minutes)& insisted on paying for just the drinks as that’s all that had been brought to the tables & left. Then a further two couples waiting for their take outs began the revolt - they’d been told upto 50 minutes wait when they ordered over the phone & came for their collection just before the hour as instructed- but no sign of any food even by the 90 minute mark. Rightly so, they said they’d go without if it wasn’t ready now, Have you paid? Was the only answer! Good for them - they refused to until an answer was forthcoming. Here was the point of the pointless BS of ‘ but we are very busy’. BUSY ! ? The total was one large group 3 other tables with 4 on them plus us & 1 other couple! Utter rubbish. Even the young lad taking the phone orders was taking flack with numerous return calls wanting updates & refunds! No wonder he’d put his head in his hands when he came off the phone! Finally after at least an hour we got to taste the delights of our starter - a shared platter - totally delicious as expected. Then another couple came in & sat behind us, they joked with us about the all but useless service but they always come expecting it so aren’t ever disappointed! But they do love the food and so they put up with it. And they always expect to get served the wrong drinks so just have whatever they get. Meanwhile, finally our mains turned up, my wife had spicy tiger prawns & I was given a tempura prawn dish with a delicious dipping sauce, after biting into the first one & absolutely loving it my wife noted it wasn’t what I’d ordered! Then my actual order arrived - it too was a prawn dish & was delicious but at this point hunger had all but dwindled. And to top it they whisked away the tempura dish! Not that I could have eaten it any way but no apology, no sorry for the delay- nothing. It’s very sad to see that they don’t have an ounce of organisational skills as they clearly can cook very good, genuine Thai food here. We left comfortably filled but so empty on satisfaction. As had friends that also told of their poor visits that weekend too. One couple went the night before valentines, food great, service - usual crap! Another went the night after we did - food great, service absolutely shocking! No one had a clue what to do & where to take each plate or drink. So, so sad. This place would clearly be full to the door if they ever get a hang of service! Will never return I’m afraid 😕

If you refuse to contribute to animal suffering by paying for food containing dead animals please do not go here. I was served a ‘vegetarian’ tofu dish that, when I bit into, tasted strongly of animal flesh and reeked of it. I was very nearly sick and spat it out. When I sniffed the dish I wretched. When I told the waitress she checked with the kitchen and told me the stock was chicken... in a vegetarian dish! They offered me a different dish but by then they’d lost my trust and I was still Feeling queasy. I’ve not eaten meat in 36 years so felt utterly disgusted and sick to my stomach. I sent the dish away and it was brought back by another waitress who told me it didn’t contain any meat but they’d added pineapple to it. It was clearly the same bowl of food and still smelled of dead animals. The starter was also a tofu dish and was not nice at all. Without the dipping sauce it would have been bitter.

Don’t let the dated exterior and interior put you off. Food was excellent, quite slow from order to arriving but it was quite busy, did not mind though as all 5 meals arrived at the same time and everyone loved their meal.Staff very pleasant. Only reason for not giving 5 star was the wait from arrival (table booked and on time) to being seated and no drinks offered while waiting. Appeared to only have 1 waitress and she was struggling to cope with how busy it was. Did not spoil the night though. Would definitely use again.

From entering to leaving the staff were fab. The jasmine tea was to my delight loose leaf. I really enjoy d my choice and I would happily return. I must say don't be put off by the outside appearance as inside it's worth the visit.

Visited here with a friend after a promise of a Thai. The place doesn’t look great from the outside though not many places do on Scunthorpe high street nowadays. It was a Wednesday night so it was pretty quiet in the restaurant - us and another table. There was no real “thai theme” to the restaurant, it didn’t feel authentic. We were seated at our table and given the menus. The waiter was soon back to take our drinks order. When he brought our drinks over, he also brought some prawn crackers - more Chinese style than Thai though which was slightly disappointing. Our meal orders were then taken, we ordered chicken satay and fried dumplings for starters and then ordered the massaman curry and red Thai curry with egg fried rice, chips and noodles. I was told the satay sticks were nice. The dumplings were fried and quite hard, I think I would have preferred them steamed. The mains came out pretty much straight after clearing out starters away which made it seem like they were wanting us out quick. I like to wait between courses. The main courses were tasty though & presented well. We did ordered a little too much, which I should have asked for it boxing up. They cleared the plates but no dessert menu was offered which was disappointing as I was quite. It was nice, reasonably priced and friendly service but no wow factor. There are better Thais around.

Arrived at approximately 5 pm on a wet day. We were warmly welcomed and sat quickly to a table. Ordered beer and Satay appetizers. This promptly brought through. Well prepared skewers which soon were devoured. Ordered then mains of Gal Ma-Nao(Tempura batter chicken covered in a sweet lemon and chilli sauce dressed with slices of lemon and coriander), Gaeng Dang (Red chicken curry in coconut milk)& Pad Gra Prao Chicken (stir fried dish with fresh chillies and Thai basil leaves), sides of Khao suay (Steamed fragrant Thai rice) & Pad Kee Mao (Spicy fried noodles with egg. fresh Thai herbs and vegetables). All arrived together it was esthetically pleasing to the eye and tasted just as good. I would highly recommend the Tempura chicken as this arrives in a foil cover made as a bird. Staff were efficient and quick to help where necessary. Quiet evening but well worth a visit.

I have visited and enjoyed this restaurant on many occasions,but today, for my birthday, I must say I was disappointed.I especially enjoy Tom Kha Gai,but it was very sweet with no hint of chilli.No bite.ALL the other dishes were too sweet.Did someone decide to make the food tasty for locals?I lived in Thailand for 2 years where I met my wife and she cooks Tom Kha Gai for me.....delicious,not too spicy,but not sweet.

Visited this restaurant as 1st choice Thai restaurant was fully booked. The first impression is walk straight past, but if you do then you will have missed an excellent meal. Once through the door it was great, All starters arrived quickly and mains followed in good time. The portions were good and tasted superb. If not sure on Thai food they are very happy to advise you. Definitely will be returning soon. Not sure you would want to be leaving there later than 20:30 as the surrounding area is full of undesirable people

anytime we want a nice local meal or a good takeaway we always go here! food so tasty and delicious. never ever had a bad meal here. we sometimes visit with family aswel as friend and just as a couple and we are always treat the same and waiting the same amount of time! lovely food. deffo worth a visit

I visited here on Friday with friends food delicious and service was excellent ,definitely visit again.

This was a firt time visit for us, fancying a change from the usual Indian. The outside of the place looks, quite frankly, pretty scabby and not at all conducive to creating a good first impression, but once inside, it is more welcoming. Having children in the party, we had gone early, which was fortunate because the front of house staff member was on her own, having been let down by the planned staff, and was rushing all the time and struggling to keep up with the orders, hence service was a bit slow. The food, however, was excellent and the cost lower than expected. Well worth another visit.

Went to exotic Thai for a leaving meal. We had finished our starters and they had been taken away before the other starters arrived.

Went here with work colleagues for a meal. Busy restaurant that serves a good choice of meals. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable on Thai food. Reasonable prices.

Visited with my partner at a lunch time. We were the only people in the restaurant therefore service was excellent but it always is. We ordered from the set dinner menu getting a starter each, a curry each and rice each for £7.95. Food was absolutely amazing, very hot and fresh. Couldn’t fault the service or the food! And it was exceptional for the price.

In Scunthorpe for one night and we just fancied a Thai meal - as you do. Popped into this place and what a find! It was early evening and the place was completely empty which was a little off-putting. Far too much choice so we went for one of the set meal for two option. All I can say is that the food was fantastic. We will definitely be back.

Food is delicious! Not so hidden been here years, how I've never been before?? It's fantastic. Been with a group of 20 and wow! Every meal was great! Clean and tidy, staff were fantastic, if you haven't been - it's a must!!

Run by a Thai gentleman, the food is fairly authentic. However, Scunthorpe is declining, and the restaurant with it.

This Thai restaurant serves a range of Thai food. My friends and I visit frequently and have been delighted with each and every meal without fail. The service is professional with care taken to remember individual preferences. Each time we visit we are astonished that not more tables are occupied. Granted the exterior would benefit from TLC but the interior is warm and inviting and spotless. A great asset to our community.

Had an early evening meal at Exotic Thai last night. The restaurant was fairly quiet with it being early on a Saturday evening. We chose the set meal for two. The food arrived promptly. The food was piping hot, including the plates & bowls. It consisted of a plate of mixed appetisers, followed by 3 mains of green chicken curry, stir fry pork & stir fry beef plus Jasmine rice & noodles. Everything was well presented & extremely tasty. I wished I’d thought to take a photograph. I will next time as we intend to return. I would recommend you give it a try.

Attended for a birthday meal with the family including a 2 and 4 year old. The service here was absolutely terrible. We waited 2 hours before our main courses arrived and the staff seemed more interested in cooking take-aways rather than serving the full restaurant of customers. Customer service lessons wouldn't go amiss as the staff were extremely rude to us throughout our time here. Admittedly the food was tasty when it finally arrived, however it took more than 15 minutes to serve the main course to our table of 9 so much of it was cold when we actually came to eat it.

I am local to scunthorpe and didn’t even know this place existed. The restaurant was lovely and clean and staff were pleasant. The girl that waited on us was very friendly and went the extra mile to answer any questions we had about the food. We shared a mixed vegetarian platter for starter which was gorgeous. There was not one thing I didn’t like. Fresh prawn crackers were also served. For main I had a dish with prawns and veg in an orange coconut curry sauce. This was amazing. The prawns were huge and so crunchy. The sauce was beautiful even though I’m not a huge fan of coconut. I am very impressed and will definitely be going again!

Have been more than once, the first time the food was delicious, no complaints. The second time around not so much. The starters of prawn tempura was tasty but the main course of pad Thai was less than below average. The Thai noodles were inedible as if they were cooked for two seconds and the sauce was beyond sweet. While my partners meal was to her liking I cannot forgive uncooked noodles, will not Be going back.

I use this restaurant a lot and have always had super food. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there is plenty of choice on the menu. I would recommend it to anyone.

We came as a group of cousins for a pre-Christmas dinner. The restaurant wasn’t busy but a few tables had guests. We were delighted by the extensive choices on offer but even more so by the quality of the food. The service was attentive and polite, and prices very reasonable.

Good menu choice, fresh ingredients, good service. Eaten here a few times and it's always consistently good food. Place itself is a bit tired but the food more than makes up for it.

Came in tonight for dinner with our toddler. The place was empty. Thai lady behind the bar said it was booked out and the only table was the one by the draughty door. Her tone was really unwelcoming. We left and ended up having a lovely meal in Forest Pines instead.

Used this place several times and always found the food to be very tasty and enjoyable. Quick and efficient service and very surprised that its no busier.

No pensaré volver porque de comida mediocre y pobre servicio al cliente. Después de un largo viaje en coche y estaba muy cansado, reservamos una para llevar por teléfono para recoger en nuestro camino a casa. A su colección, parece que había cierta confusión en el menú precios re en línea, lo que se tradujo en un restaurante pidiendo cuatro veces el precio que esperábamos pagar (y en mí) y propietario del restaurante que él había preparado insatisfechos demasiada comida. Pero en vez de reconocer que se había realizado un error honesto, él grumpily que considerará ternera era nuestro dinero vale la pena. Por desgracia, no sólo la experiencia de dejar un mal sabor, pero una vez que llegamos a casa para comer, sinceramente, no era tan especial. Hemos tenido mejor en Tailandia y aquí en el REINO UNIDO. No pensaré volver a menos que el dueño quiere tratarnos mejor.

Este es nuestro ir para llevar en scunthorpe la comida es fresca y deliciosa, a menudo nos saca lo que es bueno, ya que se obtiene un 10% de descuento y suficientes para sobras el día siguiente! ! El servicio en el restaurante puede ser lento, ya que sólo hay dos camareras y debido a la demanda hemos esperado más de una hora para la comida previamente. Nota para el personal mantener la comida increíble y doble la calefacción para sus clientes!

Fantástica comida bien merece una visita! Ha sido varias veces y nunca me han decepcionado, fuera podía hacer una actualización pero muy bonito por dentro.

Serve a very good Thai meal, plenty of choice on the menu to suit all tastes. Prices are about average and certainly beats any of the Chinese establishments in the area. The staff are very friendly and attentative. Will certainly visit again.

I was genuinely surprised when I went in for my Sunday evening meal. I have eaten thai green curry across the country and would rank this one as amongst the best.Menu - extensive and well pricedMy meal - a thai green curry that was light, tasty, uniquely flavoured and in a nice heated dish.I will definitely be eating there again.

I'm disappointed in myself that I've not visited this place before! If you know Scunthorpe, don't be put off by the location. The staff were lovely and attentive and the food was brilliant! Next time we'll have to not let our eyes be bigger than our bellies because we left absolutely stuffed but we just couldn't stop woofing it down.Lots of vegetarian options on their menu too so a real plus. Pity it wasn't busier on a Saturday night so give it a try. A real gem.

Cannot fault this restaurant. There is a great selection for all tastes and varying prices but nothing too pricey. All the starters were very tasty and the main courses did not disappoint. The servings are ample even for the hungriest of people. Would certainly recommend this restaurant and will definitely give it another visit.

Great food with a true authentic taste. There is plenty of variety on the menu. Portion size is on the small side. The service is good but the decor inside is a bit on the cafe style.

We often visit this restaurant with our friends and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and varied and the wine is moderately priced. The imported Thai beer is expensive but the local options are reasonable.

I had chicken satay starter and prawn with fresh chillies and basil main. Both were really nice and lovely friendly service from the girls. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing fresh food Who thought there was such a hidden gem in a quaint town like scunthorpe Restaurant smelt a bit musty but they more then made up for it by the food Excellent value for money Jumbo prawns are truly jumbo Loved it

We have eaten here several times and have mainly enjoyed the experience which has been slightly marred by shortages on the menu. My wife loves the soft-shell crab dish but it isn't always available. Otherwise this is a very good choice for dinner.

I ordered a mixed seafood spicy soup, satay skewers and grilled sizzling duck main. The chicken skewers and duck main were very tasty and the restaurant has a nice Thai feel. However, the seafood soup could only be described as a bowl of hot fishy water. I complimented the rest of the food and enjoyed the rest of the meal. When the bill came, I asked if they could remove the soup as I hadn't been able to eat any of it. I am a huge seafood/ Thai seafood soup fan and have recently come back from travelling in Thailand. However, it did smell and look awful - like dishwater. I was told that this was not possible and this is how it should be. The waitress then said she would check with management who reluctantly said they would charge me for half. I accepted this but felt very disappointed as would have liked to have given a great review as the rest of the food as it was so good and would have liked to revisit the restaurant. Sadly, the service lets the place down. I was the only person in the restaurant but still had to shout for the staff if I needed service. A shame as the management do not accept responsibility as I have read in other reviews.

Me and my girlfriend came here for a meal and really enjoyed it. The place itself is easy to miss from the outside, id drove or walked past many times without noticing it. We decided to order a kind of mixed platter starter to let us sample more foods, this worked out great. We had spring rolls, chicken wings, ribs and few other bits. The food was delicious and arrived quite quickly. For the main we went with a set menu yellow curry, a noodle dish and a beef dish (sorry i forgot the actual name!) All out meals were very tasty and i would certainly go back and would recommend this place to others.

Visited this restaurant maybe three or four times a year for the past 8 years. Each time the food and service are a delight. Freshly prepared, great choice, good portions. If anything lets this restaurant down, it is the appearance of it from the street - you would mostly just pass on by. Don't! Our group had everything from curry through fish to duck and we all had a taste of each others' dishes and nothing disappointed. Just over £100 for four including four starters, two puds and a couple of drinks each. Excellent value.

First visit and loved the array of fresh food served in the set meal it was lush. The wine to accompany was also fabulous, really enjoyed the whole dining experience. The service was prompt and friendly but not intrusive. The restaurant decor is a bit of a mixed bag as the decor as you walk through the door with the non matching table is not as nice as at the other end of the restaurant however over all we were happy as it was unique and felt fitting for a Thai with wooden carved chairs and beams and Thai art work.The place also seemed lovely and clean and the waitress was ironing table cloths as we arrived which seemed good attention to detail. I am looking forward to returning and would recommend.

The standard of presentation was exquisitely intricate and the food was equally delicious. The service was extremely courteous and we felt very valued.

As others have said don't let the decor put you off. The food is fresh and very tasty and one of the best places to eat in a long time. The staff are very helpful and efficient and it is a must for anyone.

I've been frequenting this restaurant for many years now. I first stumbled upon it on a Christmas night out with work colleagues and ever since it is right up there in my top restaurants of the area. Yes I can see why a few people have walked past its doors and gone straight past...it's on a grim part of the high street and you could very easily miss it....however when you open those doors and are welcomed in by the staff you could easily be excused for thinking you were somewhere a million miles away. The food has always been excellent, I've tried almost every dish they do (which is not bad going considering the menu is very extensive!) They have a great range of vegetarian dishes and tofu and the fresh king water prawns are delicious - the biggest and tastiest I've eaten anywhere. Everything is beautifully presented, including the carrots which are carved into flowers. The price is exceptional. If this restaurant were anywhere else (say Bawtry or Doncaster) they could charge a lot more than what they do and people would pay it. It is so sad however to see that it never seems busy....I always tend to visit on Friday or Saturday nights and yet there are always tables vacant..even during busy Christmas periods. I wonder if people are judging a book by its cover. Please don't. Please try it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find...

This is such a lovely little restaurant with the nicest staff. Its decor isn't flashy - but don't let that put you off, because the food is absolutely brilliant. I have never had a dish that I didn't like and I've tried a lot of things on the menu. One of the best places to eat in Scunthorpe, definitely worth a visit for a big celebration or a date night. Sometimes waiting a while for food if its busy, but the portions are quite big and it's really good value for money.

We had an excellent meal with friends last Saturday, March 26th. The food was fresh, hot and beautifully presented as always. We've been coming here for years and have never had anything like a bad meal or poor service. Highly recommended.

My partner and her family have been coming here for years. She introduced me to the exotic Thai about 3 years ago and it has always been a 10/10 for food and service for us. It's not everybody's cup of tea but I don't understand why the place isn't full every night. (But that's just my opinion). The lunch time menu is good, not as much choice as the night menu but that's expected. Night time menu has loads of choice including vegetarian. Lovely place to eat! we will be returning regular for as long as it is running.

The outside does not do this restaurant justice. Inside the service was attentive and the the food was surprisingly good and freshly prepared. Will definitely return.

Second visit to this restaurant, tucked away on Scunthorpe High Street. This restaurant has been here for years so must be doing something right. Lots to choose from on the menu. Being novices to Thai food, choosing was a bit experimental. Food came quickly, very hot was very fresh and tasted delicious. Good value. Polite staff. As far as I am aware only Thai restaurant in Scunthorpe - well worth a try for something different.

From the outside looks a bit unimpressive,like a tardis, but the service and food are excellent. Huge choice of dishes at a reasonable price. All named Thai dishes with an English description. The food is served quite quickly and looks extremely appetising. The staff are friendly and hardworking. Will definitely visit again

Decor not great and pretty basic inside, but food and service excellent. Varied menu with lots to choose from. We ordered seafood dishes, friends advised ordering 2 main courses each and I would advise the same. Reasonably priced too.

Definitely a restaurant that should not be judged on first appearances. I was dubious of trying the restaurant at first owing to the drab exterior, foisty odour just inside door, and dated interior. However the food was very good, with both of us very happy with both the taste and quality of our starters and main courses.

Visited several times now and each time we have not been disappointed. Very nice food, clean and tidy and good service. Recommended.

Have visited several times and always been impressed, but first trip out this year. The waiting staff were polite, efficient and knowledgeable. The food, as always, was excellent, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. We had the mixed sharing platter to start, as always(!), then between us we had fish in sweet and sour sauce, a chicken dish, a curry and scallops. We tasted each others and they were all delicious. Sadly the coffee machine was out of order, but they rustled me up a cup of good quality instant, which was fine by me. All in all, a lovely night out.

This is the only Thai restaurant in Scunthorpe. Great food and the staff are very nice. We tend to go early in the evening to avoid the busy times. They also serve lunch, which is very affordable. I think they're closed on Mondays. I just wish they have khao pat on the menu.

Scunthorpe isn't exactly the gourmet capital of the world and consequently it is good to know that you an get a delicious Thai meal for a reasonable price at Exotic Thai. Yes, the decor is a bit naff, yes,the staff's English is poor but that only endears the place to me. The waitresses are sweet and helpful. The food is good.

Delicious food prepared and served by a small team of extremely friendly staff. Every dish is well worth the wait. Incidentally, in our experience, the wait is totally acceptable when fresh ingredients are being used to provide a beautiful authentic dish. Not one from freezer to microwave!? You will not be disappointed.

We visited last night as a group of 6. I haven't been here for about 6 years, and the last time i had been it was the only thai restaurant i had been to hence memories of decent food. Last night i had ordered Tom Yum soup for starter and a green curry for a main course. The chicken in the soup tasted reheated, there was no fresh ingredients in either of the dishes. Reasonably quick service with a smile but food is defiantly lacking some what. I would not go back to this restaurant.

Visited Exotic Thai with 6 friends table for eight we wanted to pay in couples as we always do because some have wine with their meals others have beer and some just have pop, some have starters others don't so it suits us to pay as couples this was no problem the waitress was great so typical Thai as was the atmosphere in the restaurant the food was well presented full of flavor we will of course be visiting the exoticThai again

We booked a table for 7:30 and although the food for the main was ok the service was extremely poor. It took 90 minutes for starters to arrive and when they did not all came together, several of the party had finished before some arrived. We then waited a further 1 hour for any sign of a main course. Again not all main courses came together meaning several in the party had almost finished before some received their main. We ordered x4 noodles to accompany our mains but they didn't arrive until 15 minutes after all the dishes had arrived meaning they were useless and sent back.As the mains came we complained and requested a free round of drinks to compensate for the delay, the waitress said that the manager said that wouldn't be possible as our mains were almost ready.I then asked to speak to the manager to be told that wouldn't be possible as he was cooking food, I said no problem can I speak to him after as I would like to discuss the poor service, I was told this wouldn't be possible as the manager would be leaving as soon as he finished cooking.Poor serviceVery long wait timesAverage food

We went here for a birthday celebration and had a lovely meal and beautifully presented. Staff were very pleasant. Could not fault it.

Dated interior, pretty poor setting in general on the high street, rude staff, slow service. Food was pretty decent tbf so probably better with a take away! We were in 40 minutes before our order was taken, and it was another half an hour before the starter came. we were in there a good 2 and half hours having 2 courses so yes, pretty steady.

The food here is lovely, and makes a nice change to other places in town. Price is okay, at about £20 per head including a couple of beers. Atmosphere really let's it down and the staff look utterly miserable.

Like the previous reviewer we have visited this place often, but our last visit will be our last. The couple that run this place used to be front of house which worked, but now they are in the kitchen and it doesn't work.One of the waitresses is the rudest people I have ever met and she will kill this restaurant. This is a shame because Scunthorpe is not chock o block with good places to eat.If you visit please complain about this lady by asking to see the manager, he needs to understand he needs new staff.

We had Thai food a couple of years ago at this restaurant that time the food and service were excellent. Went there last time on my sister-in-law's pre-wedding party with 9 of us. The staff didn't pay much attention to customers, no eye contact when we wanted to ask/order food. Staff seemed to rush and busy all the time (with only 2 waitresses for the full tables on a Saturday night). A female waitress's attitude we found it's quite rude. Some of us ordered menu in Thai's name as written in the menu list but the waitress asked what number? That showed she was not Thai then?!? Some Thai dish such as Masman Chicken Curry was served only chicken with a bit of carrot sliced and curry, no potatoes which supposed to be on the dish. Don't underestimate the knowledge of foreign food with some customers. We arrived at 7:30 p.m., the starter was served at 8:30 p.m. and main course served nearly 10 p.m.!! Too long to wait… what a waste!!

Amazing lovely fresh food! I can not rate it enough. Service however was slow and unattentive. Two girls working for a fully booked restaurant on valentines day; this meant a half an hour wait for drinks orders and a good hour wait for any food to arrive. I had to make a few efforts to get the waitresses attention for a further drinks order.Although the service was poor, the food is worth it! Just make sure you visit with plenty of time to spare.

I have visited this Thai restaurant twice the first time was on a Sunday evening and only two party's were in. I also visited on a Saturday evening and it was packed. I had previously pre booked a table during the week for five people, although when we arrived at 8pm, they were huffing and puffing around as nowhere to really sit us, the staff were unfriendly and not very cooperative, it would be nice if they gave a smile and showed some enthusiastic. Although saying all that the food is absolutely delicious. I love the Thai red curry with coconut milk. Possibly get a takeaway next time rather than dining in, then we may not feel an inconvenience to them.

My husband I regularly eat here. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious and authentic. It has a friendly atmosphere and the waitresses can not do enough for you. Give it a try :)

This restaurant consistently delivers truly great thai currys.. starters are not spectacular but the currys are truly worth a visit for.. I love thai food, have eaten in dozens of thai restaurants but have never had a better thai curry than here..the atmosphere is a little quaint, but I always enjoy it and the staff are quiet but friendly.. give it a go, if good food is your priority over fawning lackeys then this is your place..

Having never had thai before I didn't know what to expect... The outside is off putting and the inside grows on you!!! The food I thought was average and nothing special, i personally wouldn't rush back but each to their own... If you want to spend £ 35-£45 I can think of better places and that price doesn't include alcohol only soft drinks

a bit drap, the food was on an average rating, saying which the duck in tamarind sauce was very tender. The waiting staff were not that enthusiatic even though there was only another table of four. The background music was awful, not in keeping with an establishment that has the word "exotic" in it's name. I have eaten better Thai food before!

my wife and I regularly visit this restaurant.My wife is gluten intolerant so eating out can be very difficult.The exotic thai is excellent for gluten free as well as normal food because other than the battered items everything is made without gluten.We can only say wow to all the dishes here and the restaurant is very cosy and quite romantic for special times.The price is right too ,not to be missed authentic Thai food and very pleasant staff.If you like thai or your gluten intolerant and want to eat out this is the place to be.5stars from us.

We ate at Exotic Thai on a rainy evening midweek, so it wasn't surprising there were only a few tables occupied and the atmosphere a bit subdued. The service was very good, all the staff were polite, friendly and helpful when it came to meal choices. So much to choose from. Our meals were good quality and, though portion sizes looked small when they were brought to the table, they proved adequate for our appetites. The dishes I chose were a little bland, but that's my fault for playing it safe with my choices. I'd be happy to visit again and try some dishes with a bit more zing!

I have visited this small restaurant about four or five times in the last few months. When my partner suggested going there at first I thought she was mad as from the outside the restaurant does look quite unappealing and a bit tired. The décor inside is also a bit tacky, however, the waiting staff and owners are extremely efficient and hospitable. The food is simply excellent and cooked to perfection. For chilli lovers I can personally recommend the number 73 large freshwater prawns with chilli and thai basil. Compliments to the chef - keep it up!!

poor, poor, poor, whats more to say, takeaway was incorrect, when we had received it, very little food in the containers and expensive. Absolutely Avoid at all costs

We have eaten here many many time & we are never disappointed!We have been to Thailand seven times & know Thai food very well& this is the best authentic Thai food in UK including London.The food is to die for every mouthful is mouth watering.The restaurant itself is a little dated but you will not find Thai food better else where other than Thailand.The curries and King Prawns in Tamarind sauce are my favorite but my hubby's favourite is deep fried whole shell crab in peppercorn sauce. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Had a lovely meal there on saturday , opted for the 3 course set menu , great choice . Spent 2 weeks in thailand and the food was of the same standard , admittedly a bit pricey but still quality food . People have their views on quality of food but I can only say it was good .

Waited 1 hour, STILL NO FOOD OR EXPLANATION. The boss and his wife are very good, but ALAS now in the kitchen, the food is generally very good, but after last night (left without a meal) I'm not going back .. .. Get some employees ........ is my advice

Been eating here for a few years now and never wrote a review! Well here it is. The place is great the guy who runs it is the most accommodating and hard working man I have ever met, the food is fantastic and never had a bad meal there, however last year there was a bit of a 'lull' with service I have to say but was down to one of the girls who worked/works there,this did not affect the food quality just the service itself. I will say she has improved over time and its like anything new it takes time, me and my wife will continue to eat here as long as its open,try the lunch menu if you are at a loose end and in town between 12-2pm definately value for money.
