El Mexicana in Huntingdonshire

Great food spoiled by a lady serving that were absolutely disgusting and disrespectful never again, when ordering it asks for a name then they call it out by number. Then when asked your shown up in front of other customers with a disrespectful attitude

I’m trying to follow a a set of dietary principles (aka diet) that involves “over the ground veg” and protein being privileged over carbs and fat. We are also supposed to practice “rainbow eating”. Bit what one would expect to find at an English service station but this outlet came up trumps for £8:20. Plus, there was no queue, in contrast to the well known nutrition free major outlet just along the way. Olé!

Been visiting this place since 2014 and its always been well worth it. Great vfm & decent enough food. But after today I won't be going back. Zero flavour and a burrito filled with 70% rice. Absolute rubbish.

The woman working there needs to find another job. She clearly is not happy in her position. I ordered from the screen and could not see an option to put grated cheese on my nachos. I asked her if it comes with cheese and she said yes it does so I paid. She started to make it and put the tiniest portions of guacamole and sauce on my nachos. She then stuck it in front of me with no cheese. I asked her to put cheese on and she said it would cost more. She could see my dissatisfaction but never offered a bit of cheese. Consequently the food was disgusting. It was dry and horrible. Too many nachos for the amount of sauce you get and nachos with no cheese??????? She was miserable and unwelcoming. Will never go back to an El Mexicana again!!!!!!! This was at Peterborough services!

Very mediocre. Didnt expect much as it is in a service station. The woman working was really moody and made me feel like it was a chore to ask her for my food. I got 3 spicy chicken tacos, seasoned fries & a drink. Spicy chicken was literally shredded chicken that looked like dog food, tasted processed, wasnt pleasant. Fries were ok liked the seasoning but seemed as though fresh, were barley cooked, needed to be cooked for longer. Id stick to KFC or McDonalds. Meal cost me £10, wouldve been better sticking to a well established fast food chain.

good food for a good price, been coming here every Tuesday for a while now. People have said it's cold, but I drive home to Raunds and it's still warm then half an hour later.

Whenever I go here they never seem to disappoint. The food is great as well as the service. With new ordering system it makes the ordering much easier and gives you a wider look at the menu. I have only ever encountered things going wrong 1 time.

This is my favourite restaurant, i stop off here twice a week with with my bud and 'El mex' never disappoints. the ingredients are fresh and delicious. I feel that the other reviews on here have not had it enough times to know how brilliant it really is! five stars all around to the folks at el mexicana!

A very nice treat - Chocolate Tacos. £3.49 (A very reasonable price). I would say one between two would be plenty. Very sweet treat. It sets you up for the next 60 miles.

Ordered via Ubereats for a set time. Restaurant cancelled the order when the due time came around despite ordering 2 hours in a advance! Rubbish.

A quick bite to eat on our way to Scotland. I expected it to be less than average for being in services but surprisingly it was good. It was fresh and tasty. I got a veggie burrito which was so good. The girl asked if I wanted hot or extra hot salsa and I asked if extra hot was very hot and she said yes so I got hot. She was so nice she gave me a big sample of extra hot to try. It was very very hot, not a great idea when you’re on a long drive! I would choose to eat here again when we stop in services.

We called when there were no other customers. In total there were 3 staff on the concession, yet the service was appalling. The girl taking my order was completely disinterested, not polite and walked off as I was giving the order so missed 1 of the meals off totally. The food - tacos was bland and poor value. My husband had a burrito and his was ok. We had chicken wings and I couldnt eat them, they were fatty and certainly the worst wings I've ever had. & the free internet is suspended too. Altogether- would not ever return

My friend and I ordered a burrito and basket takeaway from here today. The lady (with dark hair) who served me was very friendly and efficient. She kindly wrapped everything in foil and put it into a large paper bag. Our food was fresh and tasty – a very enjoyable lunch!

Although we only had room for the spicy wedges, the veggie wraps with Mediterranean vegetables and refried beans looked delicious. Unsure if the guacamole was dairy free but even if it wasn't vegan the burritos looked pretty good.

Called here on friday,service was very very slow.Prices were typical of service stations............way too expensive for what was served to us.

£6.50 for the meal, very very flavoursome however it could have been warmer abit pricy for a family of 4 but a treat it was indeed, would visit again

I called in to El Mexicana for a black bean burrito. I got the veggie chilli on it with the black beans, pico de gallo and guacamole. While I thought the veggie chilli was delicious, it kind of drowned out the taste of everything else. I am going to come back when I pass through on my way home and just get the original three that I wanted. I think the chilli would be good on it’s own. It wasn’t bad at all. I just was craving black beans, pico, and guacamole. El Mexicana is in a convenient location, the food is more than reasonably priced, great customer service, and excellent food. It is one of the healthier choices in the services.

It's hard to find anything tasty and nutritious at a service station but this ticked both boxes. It hit the spot

Second time I have visited, the food tastes fantastic again. It was spoilt as only a plastic fork available so impossible to cut the burrito and created a mess trying to tear open the pancake which was too big to eat like a hot dog!

In the bamboozlement of fast-food concessions competing for weary customers, this place stands out as a refuge from the Burger Kings. It's not great but there's a lot of choice and the "Simple Quesadilla" is delicious, if you opt for the hottest version. The Vegetarian Corn Taco was not so good, and the Sweet Potato fries are trying their best to be junk food. The staff were helpful, though they could be more patient when you're trying to work out which ingredients to choose from the array in front of you.

I wanted a quick meal on the way home I have had burritos from here before, granted when it first opened. However I will never eat there again. I had a chicken burrito and sweet potato fries, I only had the fries as the burrito looked smaller than I remember. The food was cold the portion size was tiny not even packed out with rice or veg! The staff not overly interested. Fortunately for them I had left the services as this was a take away or I would definitely have complained. My advice try one of the many other eateries in the sevices and abound the disappointment!!

This is located off the A1M, as part of the big Extra Services there. Given the lack of choice once you are there, it fails on every level. The food is terrible, lukewarm, lacking in taste and flavour, very small portions (if you’ve had Mexican elsewhere this will be immediately obvious), overpriced and terrible service from rude staff who couldn’t care less. I really wouldn’t bother, try Ed’s which is also in there, or even in McDonald’s.

microwaved food, moody staff..Got eyes rolled at me when i said that the food they'd given me was cold that was just sat under the not so 'hot' lamp..Looked like no one cared about the food and all just wanted to go home or start talking about your complaint as soon as they walked away.Wonder it has any customers, staff coughing then just carrying on with no hand wash/glove change.Ended up throwing away the food for pure fear of contamination.Would not recommend and would rate 0 stars if was possible .

I stopped at the Peterborough Services to grab a quick pit stop meal. I found the outlet refreshing, and ordered a vegetable wrap, and a veggie chili wrap. Both were made with care. The veggie wrap had Mediterranean vegetables, rice, re-fried beans and and guacamole, and was mild and tasty. The veggie chili had a mild after warmth, a nice Mexican/Tex-Mex flavour and had chili, cheese, rice, salsa and lettuce (fillings and sauces are customer selected -ala Subway). This was one of the best burrito type wraps I have had since I was in the USA. The service was attentive, and the server did her best to get it right. These wraps were fail wrapped and toasted quickly a second time before being put in a take away bag. This was a really good find, especially for a highway services.

travelling home and not having eaten all day I stopped into the services to grab a takeaway to continue my journey. Unfortunately I chose El Mexicana. I ordered a Quesadilla Simple but the server continued to serve me the fully loaded. No great shakes just an extra pound. It was when I opened the wrapping that I found the worst quesadilla I have ever seen or tasted ever. It was a soggy mess with a wrap that stretched in a very doughy fashion. The fillings had obviously say there all day and quite frankly it wasn't cooked. Unfortunately this single experience has put me off ever wanting to visit another El Mexicana franchise. BTW their website menu prices do not match the prices charged so perhaps in true motorway service tradition prices are increased by about 30%
