Dudley Arms in Denbighshire

Booked a table for a late Sunday lunch after a long walk up the hills. The staff were really friendly, the home cooked food was delicious, and they’re dog friendly too. The roast beef was served with a few extra touches (alongside the usual roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables) that made it a great dinner plate - sweet and unctuous red cabbage, homemade Yorkshire pudding that was both crispy on the top and soft and chewy on the bottom, a piece of roast swede that was both sweet and earthy, some roasted carrots with deep carrot flavour, all sitting on top of a plate dressing of sweet potato purée, topped with a thick, savoury gravy. Managed to save some space for a sticky toffee pudding which was again really really good - soft, unctuous, gently spiced, loaded with gooey date flavour and texture. Highly recommended :)

What a place this is. Absolute credit to the fantastic village that is Llandrillo. Been coming here for many years and always a warm welcome from the locals and I consider myself a local now ha. The food, atmosphere is amazing, you won't be disappointed. Plenty of drinks and food to choose from and always a great welcome

My boyfriend and I visited The Dudley Arms last night. This place is absolutely fantastic!! We were made to feel welcome the whole time. The room was excellent, very cosy and clean. The food was all homemade and very tasty! Proper home cooked chips!! Highly recommend the sizzlers!! Compliments to the chef!! Would especially like to thank the lovely lady (didn’t get her name) who did the cleaning and waitressing for us. She was super and an asset to the team!!

Just eaten the best Sunday Lunch ever. So fresh, tasty, hot, filling and hearty. What an amazing find…. We had fish cake to start which was amazing and so tasty, Lamb & Beef together for main was divine, roasted vegetables, crispy roasters and ordered side portion of creamy mash. Indulged in chocolate fudge cake and cream for dessert and we’re not disappointed, Good sized portions all round and now need a lie down!! Service was great with a smile, plenty of parking and a lovely pub in a quaint part of the world. Cannot wait to return!!!

Lovely village hotel in beautiful surroundings. We stayed a night prior to a Triathlon which was held in Bala. We had a very warm welcome and comfortable rooms. We had hoped to have dinner at the hotel but were unable to due to the hotel hosting a barbecue after a local raft race. The food was disappointing and expensive. We listened to Karaoke until 2am in the bedroom....not good prior to a Triathlon. I would stay again but not prior to a raft race

My partner and I have eaten here and been entirely satisfied. Subsequently she and a female friend and also she and her granddaughter have been made to feel very unwelcome or told that the empty pub was full. Whilst I don't think that this is misogynistic. It is curious that with male company entry seems not to be an issue when otherwise it is. How can that be?

If you’re looking for beautifully home cooked Sunday lunch then give the Dudley Arms a visit. Although we live on the coast the drive to the Dudley Arms is a picturesque one in amongst beautiful scenery. On arrival you get a warm welcome, attentive service and beautifully cooked food. We had a roast beef and toast lamb mix that melted in your mouth with delicious gravy and there was a range of desserts that were so delicious it was difficult to just choose one. We all had something different but everyone was as delicious as the next. The Dudley Arms also has luxurious accommodation should you wish to spend a few days exploring the wonderful surroundings. Will definitely try that next time.

As a family we attended The Dudley Arms and we recieved a very warm welcome, the food was fantastic and there were options for children. The rooms to stay over were of a spectacular quality, very clean. Every option was available on the menu and it was also dog friendly.

Lovely Sunday Lunch- Lamb was cooked beautifully. Ordered dark chocolate brownie for dessert which was unreal but was so jealous of everyone else’s, my partner had chocolate fudge cake which came with pouring cream…. Heaven! Pints were lovely and fresh, good vibes in the pub itself and everywhere very clean and tidy. No complaints!

A proper country boozer. There were 18 of us so we pre-ordered our main meals. We still had an array of starters and desserts ordered while we were there. The food was lovely and the service excellent. A couple of real ales available and a good selection of other brews. Highly recommended .

Nice food and friendly staff but booked a table for 9 people for Sunday dinner, 7 out of the 9 wanted to order lamb, once ordering was told that there is no Lamb left. As a party of 9 it would have been benficial to be told when making the reservation to pre order the lamb. We were also speaking to a staff member that we had met the night before and asked if she recommened the lamb. She asked if we had pre booked it and then you could see she felt awkward and walked away. It would of also been better if we were told when we walked in there was no lamb left. Especially when it isn't a large menu with much other choice. As for the food, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding were delicious. Veg though was estremely al dente, I like al dente veg but there were boarderline raw and the beef was quite difficult to eat. Desserts were extremely tasty and throughly enjoyed them. Over all the party didn't particulary enjoy there meal.

We visited the Dudley Arms twice whilst staying at The River catcher. Charming country pub. We had Sunday lunch which was amazing, then returned for lunch on News Years Eve another terrific meal. Ample portions, great value for money.

Just arrived home after a lovely afternoon in the Dudley Llandrillo. We had local beef lunch cooked to perfection, followed by bread and butter pudding and apple pie. Lovely and cosy with friendly staff and a home from home atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Went to the Dudley Arms last night for a party. There were 6 of us and he food was excellent. I had lamb shank and the meat just melted off the bone. The chips were home made which was a real treat. One of the party was gluten free which was not a problem for them at all. Sticky toffee pudding for afters which was delicious. The service was great, attentive but not intrusive. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Will certainly go back again. Thanks for a great night.

Visited today for Sunday roast after much research of the local area on trip advisor. Was not disappointed as food was fresh, hot & very tasty. Service was 'with a smile!' Would highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. A little bit off the beaten track but worth it. Will definitely be back if in the area again.

What a great place and fantastic staff. Have four vegans in the family and we rang them a couple of nights before as we were stopping nearby. Mark the landlord was great and his staff. We were staying locally at Bala and chose the Dudley arms for an evening meal. We were greeted to a very warm welcome from the staff and the meal was delicious. I had the homemade steak and ale pie which was amazing.

We met a friend for a few drinks & ordered food as we were hungry. The steak was lovely & the chips were spot on! Ended up staying & having a few drinks with the locals, what a great atmosphere & completely welcomed.

Arrived at 5pm for Sunday "Wedding Anniversary" tea, food was stopped at 5pm, however there was no problem at all in ordering, made to feel very welcome by the smiley happy fun landlord. We had the pork & lamb roast dinner, and is was absolutely delicious. We returned the following Thursday for another lovely meal, but sadly wasn't open for another 45 mins. When passing again we will deffo be back. The pub is beautiful inside, lovely and cozy. Thank you again.

I don’t live to far away from the Dudley Arms and I don’t go there enough. You a great welcome every time we call in. Great selection of ales; the food is home cooked and of great quality and the chips.......the chips are out of this world. I would highly recommend to all my friends and I will look forward to calling in again soon.

Still my favourite pub in the world. Mark and Julie are excellent as barkeep and chef. Wonderful supper and breakfast. Stayed in the charming Bakehouse cabin. Great access to local hikes and a short drive from Snowdonia and Caernarfon and other awesome places. 10/10 will return.

what a lovely holiday we had with friends at the old bake house llandrillo. Lovely cosey cottage,warm and welcoming and after a long journey was nice to sit and have a cup tea as milk, tea ,coffee bread was supplied for our arrival ,very comfy beds, facilities were great and being attatched to the pub was a bonus not far to go for a lovely pint and chat with the friendly locals,julie and mark were very welcoming ,and we visited lots of beautiful places ,castles,parks etc , did not want to come home it was such a lovely weekend thank you mark and julie and give morgan a hug from me ,hope to see you next year

Fantastic pub with a friendly welcome. Stayed at the local cottages called Rivercatcher and decided to take a leisurely 15min walk to this pub on the Friday night. We sampled a few beers and decided to book for Sunday lunch for 10 people.

Following a trip over the Wayfarer’s path in the Land Rover from Llanarmon DC. Really good especially as the rugby was on in the bar! Llandrillo is a nice village, well kept and seems to be a friendly place too.

Came for a quick bite to eat after staying at Rivercatcher nearby. The food was lovely and freshly cooked and cooked to perfection. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we will definitely visit again in the future

We attended this pub tonight, on the recommendation of the landlady where we are staying. The staff were amazing, they sat down to take our order, and then chatted with us about our day. They invited us to the Christmas lights switch on in the village in a few days time. The food was excellent and the portions were large (we definitely didn’t need starters before our mains, but we made that mistake). The price was fair for the food (£15 for a sirloin steak meal, £10 for pork loin), but the friendly atmosphere made it incredible. Locals came in and spoke to eachother and us, the fire was roaring and we had a lovely time.

I have visited this place a number of times over the years as my parents live in Llandrillo. On this occasion, as I was visiting with my wife and two children, we decided to stay at The Dudley Arms for a few nights.

First pub we found for our tea. Sirloin steaks were ordered and cooked to perfection.Best steak I’ve tasted in ages and a big portion compared to Asda,Morrison’s and Tesco when I shop. Homemade chips were delicious too. Could not fault this pub. Staff very friendly and made good conversation food was spot on and drinks too. Will be going again. Even the locals were friendly.

Visited here 3 times in a week as it became our local. Mark the landlord was really helpful to us with recommendations as where to visit in the area. the place had a great local feel to it. Everyone was friendly, even if we spoke no Welsh the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, food and drink were both excellent and even when busy nothing was too much trouble. Great place to go if you are in the area.

We booked for Sunday lunch. Excellent roast meats, well cooked pork and beef. Good size, tasty gravy, accompanied with roast potatoes, french beans, cauliflower, new potatoes and carrots. We decided to also have a dessert. Sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake and a chocolate cake all went down well. Grandson enjoyed the fish fingers, chips and peas and ate the lot and that's not bad for his age, 18 months. A very friendly local pub with good service and make you feel very welcome, excellent value for money, a mix of locals and visitors which was good to see.

We have just had a wonderful roast dinner here. They had run out of lamb and beef so we had it with gammon and it was beautiful. I had lemon meringue pie and can honestly say it was one of the best I've tasted! The staff were lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning!

We have a static holiday home just a couple of miles away and we thought we would pay our first visit to the Dudley Arms for a meal, our only regret was that we didn't do it sooner.

All our extended family of 7 were well catered for at this great country pub eatery. I had a delicious summer veg pie with a lovely shortcrust pastry top. [ It's a delight to find a proper pie for vegetarians. We usually end up with second-rate lasagne.]My sister and mum enjoyed a delicious fish pie[ mash cheese, veggies etc.] The puddings were fab. The family really enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding . Kids well catered for, and our dog sat under the table. [We had phoned ahead to book two tables in the bar area which kindly admits dogs.]. Highly recommend this place. Friendly staff too.

We stayed in the Old Bakehouse - a 2 bed/bathroom cottage attached to the pub. The owners are great and keep the cottage (and the pub) in very good order. Beds are comfortable and the whole place is very clean. Weather was amazing and can recommend Bala as a destination to visit locally. Very happy.

We were staying in The Bakehouse attached to Dudley Arms, what a very pleasant cottage extremely clean and comfortable. On our first night we ate in The Dudley, food was very good and staff were very friendly and helpful. The local carnival was on the Saturday so we decided to support the village, it was so lovely to see the community and how much work the put into it, all the children were having a fab time. The pub was very busy that night with everyone having a great time. On our last evening we did the quiz, good fun and all locals so friendly. Mark and Julie run an excellent pub with beautiful tubs of flowers and outside area very very clean and tidy as is the pub. Would definitely recommend a visit here if your are in area.

What a great place !! One of the best pubs I have been to in Wales. The food was outstanding, fresh interesting menus & craft beer on tap. Mark & Julie run a clean friendly pub. The tastefully renovated Old Bakehouse accommodation attached is extremely comfortable with both bedrooms having their own bathroom, Full cooking facilities with quality utensils are also provided for those that prefer to do their own thing. Do yourself a favour go & enjoy.

We've eaten at the Dudley a few times and each time we have not been disappointed. Their food is fresh home cooked food that is delicious - I particularly love their Steak Pie (they do a ladies version now as the original one is HUGE). Friendly, helpful staff, highly recommend.

We visited here after having a lovely tea and cake in the local church along with some wonderful chatter. A lovely pub with an equally lovely couple as the hosts. Location is beautiful set in a little village, quaint,with some of the friendliest people we have ever met. The Dudley arms also offers accommodation which we were given a view of and it's lovely. The best is yet to come, we had the best steak and ale pie we have ever tasted (and coming from a wigganer that says a lot) it was packed with steak and you could really taste the ale, accompanied by sweet chunky crispy homemade chips and plenty of fresh vegetables, it's a must try if you do visit here. 10 of us visited today for a family meal. The staff from bar to kitchen were really friendly. As it was a Sunday the menu was limited to various roasts an chefs fish pie special, there was also a good choice of starters too, we ordered a variety of starters and meals an the food was exceptional, fresh and locally sourced, the desserts were scrumptious too.

Although I occasionally eat at The Dudley Arms, it's more my 'local' when staying at my caravan on a nearby park. A friend visiting the area gave me the opportunity to go for another meal and this time, I was determined to try the steak and ale pie, that I'd heard many talk about favourably in the past. They were right, it was wonderful! Handmade, filled with tender, succulent and lean steak, in a rich gravy. It's served in a large rectangular dish, with a pastry lid. You could also taste the ale, unlike some I've had elsewhere, in the past.

Met up with family and had a very nice lunch in their great new beer garden. Homemade food went down well with everyone - will definitely be back here soon.
