Great experience last Sunday, good food, great service. Our waiter James was superb, went above and beyond to make us happy 😊 it was our first visit but we will be back!!

Have been here many times before, always had nice food and friendly helpful staff. Three of us called today plus our Jack Russel. As a dog friendly pub, we were going to sit in the bar area. But it was so sunny we opted to sit out in the large outdoor seating area. We could see the menu has more options than when we had last visited, and new faces behind bar. The food was outstanding. Two pie of the day, which were Steak and Ale , quite honestly to date The Best Steak and Ale Pie I've ever had. Stunning. And one Chicken and Lamb Kofta on skewers, with a BBQ marinade. She said the chicken just melted in your mouth. We also had deserts, a very generous portion of Bread and Butter pudding, which was Amazing. And a Cheese cake of the Day, with Biscoff, and ice cream. Really quality, beautiful cheese cake. Will definitely be returning soon, to work through the many mouth watering options on the menu Very friendly and helpful staff. They were very busy today, but still were very chatty and helpful. First Class

Sunday roast was excellent. Plenty of veg for everyone.

Glasses are stinking, service is ridiculously slow, over half hour just too take order, every time I've been it's been same just poor unfortunately

Visited twice in a short space of time, eaten from both main menu and Sunday dinner menu, both times food was amazing! Best dinner me and my family have eaten out in a long time! Staff are very welcoming and friendly! Barmaid was lovely! Great family atmosphere! Overall a brilliant pub!

Staff were great very helpful and cheerful. Food was out of this world. I had their own twist on a mixed grill wow. Don't order it unless you are very hungry. I'm a big eater and only just managed to finish it. I will definitely be going back often.

Great food, had a late booking, but they still managed to get us in. Felt completely stuffed after a starter and main washed down with a couple of pints of Guinness

Went for Sunday on the 9th with my family,heard excellent reports on the food,and as was expected we weren’t disappointed.As for the service,I can only guess they must have had an off day because it wasn’t good!we all get off days and it certainly hasn’t put me off from going again,might I make suggestion that someone concentrate’s on the restaurant and someone on the take away orders,it’s a lovely atmosphere but needs addressing 👏

A truly memorable visit on Christmas Eve.could not have been better, despite being very busy ths staff were courteous and the food first class. Our two young granddaughters loved it too. Well done C & S!!!

Went with a group of 25 friends for a Xmas lunch and the food was excellent as was the service. The menu was a lot better than your average Xmas menu with some great different choices. They have a good selection of lagers and a real ale with normal pub prices. There is a large car park across the road. Will definitely return and try the normal menu.

Beautiful little pub. The food was absolutely incredible, nothing frozen, all fresh made food from the burger patty to the hand cut chips. Will definitely be returning

Lovely family restaurant. We came for Sunday lunch and it was by far the best beef dinner I've had in a long time. Lots of meat and vegetables, proper gravy and plenty of it. The staff were really friendly and quick at serving. We will definitely be back.

First time visiting since refurbished. Six of us visited to celebrate 2 adult family birthdays. Excellent friendly service. Welsh speaker serving which was great for those presentwho speak Welsh. Lots of food choices, which were piping hot when served. Excellent portions, and all were full leaving the table. Can't wait to try something different on the menu when I visit next time, which will be very soon with friends to celebrate their birthdays.

Had Sunday lunch here for the first time since the change of ownership...We were extremely pleased with the food , the service and the atmosphere...Best Sunday lunch in long while ...Excellent gravy !!!

A lovely wake for our Auntie from Cilfrew. A big thank you to Chloe and the team for the delicious home made buffet and special attention for vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommend the venue and service.

We had a wonderful pre-holiday meal a few weeks back. Chloe and the team were professional, courteous and efficient throughout. The portions were incredible and the quality of the food was fantastic. Can't wait to go back.

Went here for my father's 89th birthday Lovely food. Big portions. Tasty starters. If I could change one thing it would be the bread they serve with the garlic mushrooms starter and prawn starter. As they toast it it and it seems to be French loaf it gets really hard quickly. Tok hard to eat. But we will definitely be going back. Can't wait.

This is just (as of late August 2024) reopened under new management, with a bit of a refurb, new pizza oven etc. We went for a Sunday lunch, which was good and great value. Food was the staples, lovely roast parsnips, Yorkshires, beef etc. You can take or leave the mashed potato and maybe slightly mushy broccoli. Apple crumble and custard was lovely. We went on the first Sunday after they reopened and younger staff were clearly on learning curve, as you would expect. But everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

New owners are making a real effort to get this community pub back to its full potential. Good selection of meals at reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Our first time going here since new management took over. It was our daughter’s birthday and they were very accommodating and friendly (the chef even changed his music in the kitchen for her to a birthday song she wanted, so that was lovely). My wife and I asked about vegan options and they were very helpful with that. Would love to see more vegan options in the future :) Really nice staff and delicious food, the whole family was very happy!

I had my meal of fish and when it came it wasn't cooked . No apology only do you want something else. The only good thing she didn't charge me.

For what pay for the food you might just expect pub grub but this was really decent food, couldn't fit it all on the table too, xmas tree is one if the best I've seen in a pub before too all the other pubs fully booked for sunday dinner but this place was a hidden gem that we tried on the off chance that they've have space

We ate delicious home-made dishes here and were treated well. Friendly staff and a cozy Inn. That's why we went back there.

Good beer. Not impressed by the food. Overcooked, possibly recooked, oily frozen chips. Home cooked ham had a strange vinegary taste and very grey appearance. Steak pie pastry underdone. We'd nearly finished before being asked if the food was ok our reply was "yes, but". The lady only heard the "yes" and walked off.

It was very cold , so we kept our coats on to eat the food . The food Lasagne and my friend had Hunters chicken was very hot and lovely..it certainly warmed us up

we were the only people in there on a friday night and the owners pulled us on our language saying they weren't that kind of pub. we left and they closed at 9.15, shocking!

Still the great public house it used to be. Friendly landlord and staff and great beer.

My husband and I were very impressed with the quality of food and service on our first visit. We have come back today and once again we were delighted with our meal, the service and the friendliness of the staff. Highly recommended and on both occasions the food was of the best meals I have had out in Wales.

Yes well established and extremely friendly pub which is presently very festively decorated. Customers look very happy. The land lady has many party bookings up to Christmas. The menu looked very enticing indeed although my visit was only intended for a quick drink. I think I would highly recommend a visit to The Crown and Sceptre. Would I visit again yes in a heart beat.

Food very disappointing ham like leather and apple tart and custard cold. The landlady very rude her attitude was when complained "is it". Needs to brush up on her hospitality skills.

Friday to end the week a pint with my daughter on the way home from work, curry and rice with a rib eye done to perfection. Thank you both amazing keep up the good work. Its a real shame that the chef (mike) could play golf as good as he can cook, he would be off single figures by now .😂

We went for breakfast this morning very clean there and the breakfast was very good , we did enjoy the experience has been a long time since we tried the food in this restaurant so we have given them a 3 star's And would say you must give them go.

Really good food excellent service

My first visit but just want you to know your food is gorgeous. Went with family for anniversary dinner, six of us, and not one complaint, even my husband who is hard to please was delighted with his meal. Step daughter was so impressed her husband's birthday coming up so revised where they were going to go and booked table for the event. Staff charming, couldn't do enough for us. Very very impressed, can't wait to return. One word of caution please be hungry when you visit there as meal is very substantial. Well done Crown and Sceptre for s very enjoyable evening.

Booked a table last minute as it was close to where we were staying. Typical pub. Pleasant enough. Friendly staff. Tasty food.

Good place to have food. Meals are big. We couldn't finish our plates. Lamb shank was very good but unfortunately beef burger was veery dry. Meat was over done. Other than that everything was fine.

I checked online to see opening times and it said , open on a Sunday. When I arrived it was closed.

I had a birthday meal there this evening with 10 friends. We were greeted by the bar staff/waiteesses. Very helpful and friendly. The food and drinks were not long in coming once we ordered. Food was lovely too. Well recommend stopping here wether its for a drink or a bit to eat. Covid rules apply.

Food was OK, but customer service not good, bill was wrong and I ended up paying for someone else's drinks so I won't be going there again.
