This is just (as of late August 2024) reopened under new management, with a bit of a refurb, new pizza oven etc. We went for a Sunday lunch, which was good and great value. Food was the staples, lovely roast parsnips, Yorkshires, beef etc. You can take or leave the mashed potato and maybe slightly mushy broccoli. Apple crumble and custard was lovely. We went on the first Sunday after they reopened and younger staff were clearly on learning curve, as you would expect. But everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

New owners are making a real effort to get this community pub back to its full potential. Good selection of meals at reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Went for lunch recently under new owners. Really nice good homecooked food good price. Well impressed.

We had three great dinners here, beer was cold, staff were outstanding and had a great atmosphere. Thoroughly recommended.

Amazing lasagne! 😍 such a warm and friendly welcome. It’s so lovely to see this pub open again with even better food! We will be returning soon. Definitely recommend eating here. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!!

Our first time going here since new management took over. It was our daughter’s birthday and they were very accommodating and friendly (the chef even changed his music in the kitchen for her to a birthday song she wanted, so that was lovely). My wife and I asked about vegan options and they were very helpful with that. Would love to see more vegan options in the future :) Really nice staff and delicious food, the whole family was very happy!

I had my meal of fish and when it came it wasn't cooked . No apology only do you want something else. The only good thing she didn't charge me.

For what pay for the food you might just expect pub grub but this was really decent food, couldn't fit it all on the table too, xmas tree is one if the best I've seen in a pub before too all the other pubs fully booked for sunday dinner but this place was a hidden gem that we tried on the off chance that they've have space

We ate delicious home-made dishes here and were treated well. Friendly staff and a cozy Inn. That's why we went back there.

Good beer. Not impressed by the food. Overcooked, possibly recooked, oily frozen chips. Home cooked ham had a strange vinegary taste and very grey appearance. Steak pie pastry underdone. We'd nearly finished before being asked if the food was ok our reply was "yes, but". The lady only heard the "yes" and walked off.

Lovely, plentiful Sunday lunch. Reasonably priced too. Very attentive staff and bilingual. Staff would check we were happy and had everything we wanted. Generous portion of ice-cream! Enough for 2! X Diolch yn fawr iawn. We will be back .

It was very cold , so we kept our coats on to eat the food . The food Lasagne and my friend had Hunters chicken was very hot and lovely..it certainly warmed us up

we were the only people in there on a friday night and the owners pulled us on our language saying they weren't that kind of pub. we left and they closed at 9.15, shocking!

Still the great public house it used to be. Friendly landlord and staff and great beer.

My husband and I were very impressed with the quality of food and service on our first visit. We have come back today and once again we were delighted with our meal, the service and the friendliness of the staff. Highly recommended and on both occasions the food was of the best meals I have had out in Wales.

Yes well established and extremely friendly pub which is presently very festively decorated. Customers look very happy. The land lady has many party bookings up to Christmas. The menu looked very enticing indeed although my visit was only intended for a quick drink. I think I would highly recommend a visit to The Crown and Sceptre. Would I visit again yes in a heart beat.

Food very disappointing ham like leather and apple tart and custard cold. The landlady very rude her attitude was when complained "is it". Needs to brush up on her hospitality skills.

Friday to end the week a pint with my daughter on the way home from work, curry and rice with a rib eye done to perfection. Thank you both amazing keep up the good work. Its a real shame that the chef (mike) could play golf as good as he can cook, he would be off single figures by now .😂

We went for breakfast this morning very clean there and the breakfast was very good , we did enjoy the experience has been a long time since we tried the food in this restaurant so we have given them a 3 star's And would say you must give them go.

Lovely pub. Great food, well kept beer and friendly staff. Conveniently located just outside Neath on the Cadoxton Rd with car parking. Only reason not 5 star because decor could do with updating.

Really good food excellent service

My first visit but just want you to know your food is gorgeous. Went with family for anniversary dinner, six of us, and not one complaint, even my husband who is hard to please was delighted with his meal. Step daughter was so impressed her husband's birthday coming up so revised where they were going to go and booked table for the event. Staff charming, couldn't do enough for us. Very very impressed, can't wait to return. One word of caution please be hungry when you visit there as meal is very substantial. Well done Crown and Sceptre for s very enjoyable evening.

Booked a table last minute as it was close to where we were staying. Typical pub. Pleasant enough. Friendly staff. Tasty food.

Good place to have food. Meals are big. We couldn't finish our plates. Lamb shank was very good but unfortunately beef burger was veery dry. Meat was over done. Other than that everything was fine.

I checked online to see opening times and it said , open on a Sunday. When I arrived it was closed.

I had a birthday meal there this evening with 10 friends. We were greeted by the bar staff/waiteesses. Very helpful and friendly. The food and drinks were not long in coming once we ordered. Food was lovely too. Well recommend stopping here wether its for a drink or a bit to eat. Covid rules apply.

Food was OK, but customer service not good, bill was wrong and I ended up paying for someone else's drinks so I won't be going there again.

Fantastic staff, delicious food which was home cooked. Covid restrictions in place. Felt very safe.

What a shambles from start from start to finish. They couldn't find out booking then they asked us if we would go and eat outside but it was to cold for this, they eventually found us three tables in the corner and by the exit. We waited over an hour and a half for the starters to come for those who ordered them. We ordered drinks straight away but they never arrived so when the other members of the party ordered drinks we reordered drinks. When we finally ordered and a few of us ordered beef they returned to say there was none left only pork or turkey!! The food was not very nice to say the least. Will definitely not be returning.

This is a delightful pub and restaurant on the outskirts of Neath. The food is absolutely amazing - especially their sunday roasts. The meats are cooked to perfection - specifically the turkey and beef. The hosts, Rhian and Mike really make this place. I would definitely recommend. We have booked in for December to have a 3 course festive meal

Really poor food, awful wine, and the whole place needs a bloody good clean. Looked scruffy, with clothes, cleaning sprays and all sorts, dumped on the end of the bar, for all too see. Wont be going again. Sad really, used to go there regularly, but its in new hands that aren't so hot.

very slow service been here for 1.5 hrs ordered food and hour 15 mins later still nothing not enough people working to cope with 6 tables of people!!

There was 9 of us we waited ages for the meal then asked for the the dessert menu which finally the staff came and told us what was available not much choice Apple Pie Chocolate fudge cake or sticky toffee pudding not impressed then we asked for coffee she said would be back well we paid the bill as was now 3.30 been there since 12.30

I booked for valentines night and it turned out to be a very good descision. It was amazing. Staff were brill always smiling and very pleasant. Restaurant very clean and nicely set. Main pub also very cosy . Food was superb and will be visiting again for sure. Not far to go for us also. I had hunters chicken and my wife had gammon and so very tasty. The steaks looked absolutely amazing too and going to try one next time. Big thank you to all staff there

It was quiet but very friendly and we had an excellent lunch. One had rump steak + chips, veg and salad - not a scrap remained - two of us had beef and onion pie, very meaty and flavoursome. When we are in the area we will definitely visit again.

Called just for a light snack,and a drink. Both of us had a bowl of French onion soup. Delicious! Very friendly service in pleasant surroundings!
