Horrible chips the potatoes must have had bad bits and there was a lot of bad bits having worked in a fish and chips shop for years was surprised that they were served plus it seemed the oil was old and needed changing

This is a really good chip shop. Occasionally you might get a below par meal, as you do anywhere, but usually excellent. Ignore the bad reviews - you just can't please some people! 😂

3rd time of trying was determined to give true feedback. Didn't seem to be interested in serving and when they did they asked me several times what I wanted I was the only one in the shop. but asked by 3 different people. food was not good fish was soggy, had very little taste and a very small portion for a medium. chips were so overcooked and greasy just so disappointed won't bother again. oh and expensive for chips I couldn't eat

Very disappointed. Place is a little grubby and woman who served me was grumpy as hell. Serving chips while pregnant and ready to drop the baby. What would happen if she slipped? Any way arrived home with food and the chips were like bullets and the sausage tasted off. Kids and wife not impressed. First time using this chip shop and certainly the last. It’s 1am in the morning and I am sat on the loo with a upset stomach and ready to throw up. Please avoid this chip shop and cook your own.

Ordered cod and chips twice. Food always tastes good but both me and my husband had diarrhoea tonight. Unfortunately we won't be going again... this is unacceptable especially these days! Get it together guys... you used to be the best in town!

Twice in the last week I bought chips here. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back a second time but both times the chips were bits and pieces and well over cooked they were disgusting!

Popped in during an atrocious heatwave . Chips and sausages were GOOD ; and the manager even came out to apologise after a delay ( due to a surge in on-line orders ) . friendly staff , good hygiene . . "take-away" customers who simply turn up at shops now wait ages ...... as most business everywhere is aimed at online orders .

Passed by and thought I’d pop in and get fish and chips for the family. As I stood watching the food being cooked I came across awful hygiene. Even if we weren’t in a pandemic I still wouldn’t find it acceptable. One member of staff with hair dangling over the food, another without a mask at all. Staff touching their faces/hair and then the food. When I told them I’d changed my mind because of poor hygiene I was told ‘I have a bowl here to wash my hands’. I didn’t consider this to be enough given that we are still in covid restrictions. Very disappointed and I hope that they will re think the cleanliness and hand washing.

Chips where vile. At least half the portion were crunchy and had no potatoe in them. Some of them weren't even cooked. Worst I've ever had

Visited here whilst on holiday, food fresh and very tasty. would go back and recommend. Parking by the shop too which was handy

Perfectly freshly cooked cod and chips plenty of salt and vinegar. Ordered at the counter 10 minute wait but could have ordered online. Happy with covid procedures really good . Lovely staff excellent service. Popped in about 5.30 so quite quick but I should imagine later would get real busy. I will definitely be returning to this venue. Highly recommended

Have allways had good fish and chips here, chip are nice and crispy yum. Fish is also nice and white

Use this a lot and without doubt the nicest fish n chips we have had for a long while. Fish is particularly tasty and at reasonable price

food terrible covered in oil threw most of it away kids would not touch it best go to squires for proper fish and chips

At last chip n fin have managed to reopen. Order only by phone or website wwwchipnfin.com. All 3 of were well fed and the food was very good as usual. Good on you.

Generous portion sizes (both chips and fish), and always popular - be prepared to queue outside at busy times.

On a very wet and windy day we needed an easy quick popular tea and googled this place, we landed on our feet indeed. our two lids both had the children's meals and though a limited vegetarian choice ( no halloumi or veg spring roll, there was a veggie burger) we wanted fast, hot, tasty food served promptly and efficiently and that is what we got. judging by how busy it was this is a popular place and well deserved it is locally I imagine

The title says most of it, the twice cooked chips were delicious, would definitely be a regular if I was local. The service was great and friendly and I like how they are focussed on recycling and reducing plastic waste too.

Had a lovely lunch with the family whilst catching up with extended family in the area. Friendly polite staff and good food

Always use chip and fin if I ever want fish and chips. Burgers are good locally sourced. Always worth a visit

2nd review when is this place going to learn how to cook chips called in on a Sunday evening and the two people working in there couldn’t run a bath useless waiting for 25mins for them to do my food that was already cooked they decided to wait while food order before mine was being cooked the older lady must be the rudest I have ever met when a customer asked how much longer there’s would be the customer was ignored not even a thanks for waiting or sorry for the wait Never again will I step foot in this chip shop I will use the one round the corner much nicer and cleaner

Poor quality double fried chips. Too small and crunchy. Thick tasteless batter in fish. Worst chips ever

Popped in today for the first time as we had previously been using another local chip shop but have been disappointed a few times as the chips have tasted of old oil and oh my we wished we had come to here sooner! The chips were lovely, they are cooked twice which makes them a little drier and crunchier which was very moreish and there was a good amount for the cost. I have only rated it a 4 star for now as I have only purchased chips from here but look forward to trying there other items.

As good as ever, the quality never drops. Needs another selection of fish but still serves the best Cod around.

husband just brought home fish and chips the fish was not much bigger than a fish finger and was full of grease never again

When in South Molton we always visit this chip shop. Fish and chips are very good and I love the chips although I know some do not like them crispy. Staff friendly and helpful and I will visit again when in the area.

Found this chip shop while on holiday in 2017.

Being a local I have been to chip & fin quite a few times. I have seen reviewers on here complaining about the chips being cooked multiple times. The problem with this is that they openly state that they provide triple fried chips. Some people love them, some don’t, but they are what they are. Personally I’m not a huge fan of the chips but my wife loves crispy chips a enjoys them from here.

Cod and chips after a very long day beautifully cooked and delicious. A disabled gentleman using sticks was served after me and when his order was taken he was told to wait outside as it was scorching hot in the shop, and his order was taken out to him, and it was busy! I was extremely impressed with this. He was able to sit on his mobility scooter on the cooler sidewalk. Kudos to the young woman who did this.

I have given them the benefit of the day too many times! Tonight is the last time I will visit this fish and chip shop. Once again well over cooked chips which spoilt the meal I was trying to bulk up a bit. Not only overcooked, probably two or three times but more little tiny chips than actual chips. About time they took notice if the criticism on here. Very disgruntled customer who won't be going back!!

Delicious food, prepared with fresh, local ingredients. The quality is consistently high and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

More batter than fish. Overdone chips. My husband was violently sick for two days. Sit in cafe dingy and appalling at the back of the shop.

To the owners if this fish and chip shop, please listen to the feedback your getting from your customers and make an effort to improve the quality of your food by 200% I have never been so disappointed when opening a box of fish and chips.

We had fish & chips from here a couple of years ago when we were staying down here on holiday & we really enjoyed them. Had them tonight though and was so disappointed. The fish was ok and the mushy peas were hot but the chips were awful...very hard and completely tasteless. Sad to say that we won't be returning when we are in the area again.

This has got to be the worse fish and chip shop I have ever been to and I been to a lot the chips are cooked loads of times it reminds me of when I was younger going to get scribbles As this is in my home town we don't get much choice for a takeaway but I would rather drive for nice chips

Worst chips i think i have ever had .Chips were fried several times more like crisp then chips wold not recommend eating here the people serving and frying had very dirty overalls

I feel cheated!! The chips I could see in the warming tray looked, assumed I was getting those. When I got home and saw what I did actually have I felt thoroughly cheated. I realised after that my chips came from the other warming draw, and the view was blocked by the lady serving me. Clearly what we ended up with was cooked two three times over because everything was completely crunchy and dark brown, inc the grease. Are potatoes Really that expensive wholesale that you cant cook fresh for £2.50 a portion?! Such a disappointment and we just ended up throwing most of them away.
