Chen Lin in Denbighshire

Went in the other day for a meal as a treat, highlight of the experience was the excellent and trained staff at the counter - food wasn’t ready upon arrival however they handled it perfectly; rushing the food for us and making conversation, truly felt extremely welcomed! Food was great too!

Food was nice service was amazing two young girls were very keen to help me would definitely come again!

We went to Chen Lin last weekend to celebrate our granddaughters 23rd birthday. We were impressed when we visited for the first time last year so decided to return. The service was excellent, the food was not only extremely tasty, but also very well presented. Everyone in our party of seven was well looked after and in particular, extra care was taken for one member who has to stick to gluten free diet. I would highly recommend and will certainly return.

Our family have been going to Chen Lin for around 7 or 8 years, since the restaurant opened and have always had fabulous food and first class service. We have had numerous sit-ins and take aways and It never fails. It is our go to place when we have a family celebration or just fancy a take away. Delicious freshly cooked food and unlike many other Chinese restaurants, not too much salt. The banquets are always a great hit, tasty and plentiful food. We will return very soon and very much look forward to another evening at this lovely restaurant. Thank you for your lovely service.

I ordered a king prawn omelette to takeaway. Once home I plated it up, I have never tasted something so bad. As you can see from the pics, it looked disgusting. It tasted even worse. The presentation was appalling it resembled something the dog had thrown up. The omelette was dry, tasteless, just awful, and the king prawns tasted, hard, chewy, like munching on a car tyre. The appearance well it came out of the tub like that, I didn't touch it, what you see is what came in the tub!!!!!! Needless to say, I didn't or couldn't eat any of it. Takeaway food is expensive, it's a treat for us, so I expected something that looked and tasted a bit better than I got. I would NOT recommend Chen Lin. Save your hard earned pennies for something nice!

Food was delicious, excellent in fact. But.....very expensive for what you get. Place was nearly empty.

Visited here last night, very impressed with how the place has changes from being a pub to what it is now, food was delicious so much better to what I've had from other Chinese in the town, the lovely girl behind the counter was polite , would highly recommend chen lin a d will be going here more often now

Got a takeaway from here for two costing just a tad over £30. The starter was supposed to be a chop sure roll but ended up getting spring rolls which were Luke warm and absolutely tasteless. They went in the bin. The Mrs had a mushroom fried rice which was just about ok and I had crispy shredded beef in sweet and sour sauce. The beef was of poor quality and tasted like it had been sat around the kitchen for a month. The sauce was mediocre and the chips were something like Icelands own cheap brand frozen chips. A really poor quality takeaway that was massively overpriced. They have a cheek to charge so much for crap. I certainly won’t be going again and wouldn’t recomend. What a waste of money

Ordered a family takeaway whilst staying over in Penial. A big order of £103 and the young lady who took the order was polite and friendly. Very quick service. Food was absolutely gorgeous and portion sizes were sufficient. Would dine inside if I visit again. Recommended to all.

The soup was okay, but the mjaoirty Hors D'oeuvres were dry and tasteless, the chips came cold, the texture, taste and look of the beef in the beef chow mein was completely off to an alarming degree and we paid £69

Went in last night with my partner,and I must say everything was perfect,the food was amazing and we was treated so well and looked after from start to finish,not to mention great value for money, anyone going to this beautiful village must have food here.

We were the only people in the restaurant and now we can understand why We had eaten here before and had a lovely meal but unfortunately the experience was not the same this time I opted for the hot and sour veggie expressing I adore hot spicy food but it came out as a very sweet, glutinous and sticky mess. My husband had the duck and the sauce was similar, both inedible When we said the sauce was too sweet and wanted something more spicy we was told that was the hottest sauce they had and it was from a packet !!! The sauce had no fresh ingredients in it so they couldn’t make it hotter Sad

Had a number of Chinese meals from Chen Lin, consistently good. Love their sweat and sour chicken, excellent chow mien never too greasy. Always very accurate with their waiting times. Call early at the weekend as it gets very busy.

Delicious food, especially the thai red curry. We ate in the restaurant and the service was friendly and professional. It was a Saturday night and the takeaway side of things appeared very busy but this didn't impact our visit.

We live locally and this was our first visit, as we've just not gotten around to trying it out. We were greeted by a lovely, friendly lady and shown straight to our table. The same lady brought us the menus, took our drinks order and was very helpful when ordering our food, as we had a few questions. The takeaway side appeared very busy but this didn't impact on our excellent service. The food was delicious, which consisted of thai red curry, thai green curry (spicy hot), chicken fried rice with curry sauce and the very tasty salt and pepper shredded chicken. There were no negatives and we will be trying the takeaway option next, for collection as we can pick up after work. We have already booked another table and will be taking a group of friends this time.

Absolutely brilliant, first time take out for daughters birthday and did not disappoint. Really good value for money. Gorgeous meals. We had a big order and everything was delicious. Really enjoyed it.!!!

Called in to place an order for collection, ordered several dishes/sides and advised 15-20 minutes wait so had a drink from the bar whisky waiting. Collected food and 10 minute drive back to holiday cottage. Food was all still piping hot when we returned back. All 5 dishes and sides were all really tasty and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal

We liked using Chen Lin as it has a local delivery service however this is the third takeaway in a row where theres been problems so we’ll now be trying somewhere else. 1st time burnt chicken balls, the batter was a deep brown, tasted burnt and the chicken was over cooked shrivelled and rubbery. Almost 20 minutes late delivery. 2nd time was advised 2 hour wait for delivery, said that was fine and got a snack to keep us going, while eating snack (20 minutes after ordering) there was a knock on the door and it arrived. We called them up and they advised there was another order in our area so they just cooked up our dishes to go with that, they didn’t inform us. 3rd time, half portion size, barely any meat, burnt food. Final straw for us. £3.90 for salt and pepper chips, aka half a portion of chips 5 slithers of burnt onion and about 3 barely chopped chillis. 2 pieces of beef in our beef, ginger and spring onion We will now be avoiding chen lin.

Food consistently good. Can get v. busy at weekends so plan ahead. No qualms recommending the takeaway. I didn't get a chance to have a sit down meal b4 Covid but know a family member who enjoyed the food and karaoke booth upstairs. Cant wait to try that!! wait

Quite a long wait when ordering takeaway but this is due to popularity

Takeaway ordered and after a second phone call arrived an hour late, then on checking, there was two items missing off the order and still charged us the full wack. At this time had enough. Was a very bland boring beef curry with beef that was tasteless and looked like it had been stood on and kicked around the kitchen floor. Wont be bothering again. Not a patch on the LEGENDARY KENS KITCHEN in Old Colwyn. Certainly wont be bothering again.

ordered takeaway from here. Told 1hr 10mims which we accepted. 3 phone calls later we get our delivery 2.5hrs after ordering. This is not the first time its taken over 2 hrs so like i say nice food but don't expect within 2 hrs. Would not recommend

Waited 45 mins at the bar for takeaway, server was so rude and tried to argue with us that she was right and we were wrong about the food taking 2 mins once it was started to be cooked (ew in itself) and “why don’t we just cancel and don’t be rude” “don’t have an attitude with me” ...... got home chow mien burnt and inedible, ribs burnt and one just bone - £43 down the drain.

Pictures speak for themselves. The boxed up food is all the food we didn’t eat (90% of the order). Ordered some food from here as heard some great reviews about the restaurant; unfortunately it was the worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. Food was completely inedible and appeared frozen/microwaved as hard chewy lumps in every meal. They also had forgotten to deliver a meal. Normally couldn’t be bothered to write a negative review about a Chinese, as it’s common to come across a takeaway that isn’t great but this was actually vile! After an initial polite phone call to discuss the situation (hoping it was a one off for the restaurant), we were spoken to terribly, hung up on by the staff and then offered £10 off our next order which was laughable. We were also told the chef and owner did not speak English, which was a lie because he could speak to us to argue about money in the end. Considering we spent £120 and probably ate £10 worth I would have expected a moderate to full refund. If we had have eaten in the restaurant I would have refused to pay. After several phone calls later, they aggressively agreed to 50% refund and told us not to call again. Horrible service, horrible food. But the delivery lady was really sweet and polite!
