Chapo's El Campeon in Wigan

Absalutely awful experience. Do not come to this restaurant. I don't believe any of the reviews at this restaurant are real on trip advisor so be warned. We paid £40 deposit £10 per person before we arrived at the restaurant. We were then told all the items that we wanted on the menu were not available, aswell as the tomahawk steak which was not stated on the website that we had to pre order before we arrived. The wine that we ordered was a completely different flavour to what was described on the menu. The wine we asked for was supposed to have dark chocolate and plum and cherry flavours, the wine we were given had wild berries on the bottle but no statement of what had been described on the menu. We did not want to stay to eat there as there was not much on the menu that we wanted, everything we asked for did they did not have. The place was empty and I had asked for a jug of iced water with cups and did not even receive it. We wanted to leave with our depoait as we did not want to eat there or drink the wine. We were then told we had to send an email to the owner to get a response back tomorrow over the refund. We have not received any refund or response. We.were also told we still had to pay for the wine, the glasses that had been poured that we did not drink!! Absalutely disgusting!!! We should have had our money back there and then. So we told them that they have stolen our money which they had. If a customer isn't eating at the establishment we should not be giving them a £40 deposit to keep. Disgusted and appalled by the way things are run here. Will never return.

I had never heard of this place, but was recommended it so we all popped in. We were not disappointed! The portions are huge, they taste like heaven and really authentic! The beer and cocktails are also a hit! we will be coming back!

Service was slow and the food luke warm when it arrived. Staff uninterested in my complaints. Overall it was overpriced and underwhelming

Excellent food and service. Eventually made it after several alterations on my part but the owner couldn’t do enough to accommodate. Will be returning!

Had takeaway from here during the pandemic and really enjoyed it, so went for a sit in meal when we didn’t have the kids. Food was great again, lots of flavour.

Came for bottomless brunch yesterday. Food was lovely, cocktails were good and pretty strong. The only negative was the seating booths were so small with fixed wooden tables. I only just fit in the gap between the seat and table. My partner had to move because he was so squished. There were only 2 non booth tables as it’s quite a small place so maybe if you’re on the larger side request a regular table not a booth.

The steak was amazing cooked to perfection signature steak with prawns. The veggie options are limited and the halloumi burrito bowl was disappointing as there was barely any halloumi.
