Excellent fish and chips spoiled by an unacceptable wait of over 40 minutes due to them “losing “ our order. An apology given but nothing knocked off our bill which would have been the least they could have done but not forthcoming so a non return here which is a shame as the meal was delicious - poor PR! Our waitress was lovely and was very embarrassed by our long wait.

Amazing fish and chips, fried to perfection. Good value for money. Decent restaurant with polite, friendly and helpful staff.

had the oap special,both had scampi and chips which came with salad,really good. beutifully clean,very good service. this are first visit,only live 10 miles away,look forward to coming back with friends.

A well presented, perfectly located Chippie. The offers in the window are always appealing, and there are always customers (most collecting for takeaway). Staff are friendly, the menu is well-priced, and the portions definitely make it value for money. Notably, I’ve tended to enjoy the offerings mainly on Friday evenings, and I’ve yet to sit-in and eat. Review based on four separate takeaways

A very pleasant experience today at Catch. We both had fish pie from the OAP menu great fish, al dente veg, hot and fresh at affordable price. Clean surroundings, very pleasant staff. Will be back, glad we looked in. Staff trying hard and very patient with senior people. Thank you!

Went in for lunch not realising what an extensive menu they offered, not just fish and chips. Delightful service, good quality food and very good value for money.

I ordered chicken chips and a pickled onion through just eat ! The delivery was bang on time food was hot and plenty of it ! Chicken was succulent and not dry ! Delivery driver was very polite and friendly I actually felt bad didn’t have any cash to tip him !! Highly recommend ! Thank you

We made a private booking here and were well looked after. The scampi was enjoyable. Everyone else seemed happy with their food.

I can highly recommend the scampi and chips that also comes with a side salad, very tasty! Their homemade tartar sauce isn't bad either!

Went to Catch this evening to celebrate my birthday, my son booking it as a surprise. Helen one of the owners had decorated our table and put up banners and balloons, totally unexpected but a lovely gesture even organised a cake. The food was lovely, chips crispy and so was the batter on the fish which three of our party had. The burgers looked as a burger should and not just thrown together. And the scampi was delicious. I couldn't fault the service or the food. Thankyou for a lovely start to my birthday celebrations. I have already recommended you to some of my friends.

Just picked up 2 x cod chips and peas. Having previously owned a Fish and Chip shop I can say these are probably the best I have bought. All freshly cooked the batter lovely and crispy and freshly cooked chips. I have tried The Pelican and other reputable chippies in Barnstaple and Braunton but these are so much better. Thank you keep it going.

Walked in 6 people waiting yet 3 of them Uber drivers waiting who didn't really need to be inside. Old women then says to her counter staff that there are too many people inside waiting and some need to wait outside. Rather than letting paying customers feel welcome makes them wait outside rather than drivers who could be waiting up to 20 minutes for orders. Thanks for making everyone feel awkward and should have had the skills to ask us to leave rathe than her staff when everyone clearly heard

A new chippy in town. A friend and I walked in after the Christmas light switch on in town. Lots of takeaways going on and busy in the restaurant. They have decorated it nicely and there's lots of space for pushchairs in the front of the restaurant. A nice young lady served us who was kind and smart, just needs to build some confidence. Food was delicious and came in good time. Enough food to feel a happy kinda full. Chips cooked nicely, not too greasy. Sausage was just right. Curry sauce was ok, but could do with improvement. Drinks were from cans or bottles from the fridge which was ok. The lady behind the till was very happy and kind which was nice and left feeling good. I will definitely return soon and recommend. Good prices also.

The proprietors need to decide whether they are a restaurant or a takeaway. The 'Eat-in" customers were neglected in favour of the takeaways. The food was satisfactorily cooked, eventually. The rest of the experience was not much of a 'catch'. The restaurant was not busy, but we had to wait about an hour for our meal to arrive, (we overheard the staff talking after approximately 40 minutes and realised they had yet to start cooking it). My husband's meal was eventually served - before they cooked mine (standard fish & chips). The staff were clearing plates & cups before all the party had finished eating. Basic waiter/waitress and management training is needed.

Came here with my family when exploring Barnstaple. It was excellent. The fish was fresh and in a lovely light batter, and the chips were tasty and crispy. The kids had sausages or chicken nuggets which looked good and husbands chicken pie was proper chicken....
