A fabulous Italian 👌 serving superb food and gelato. We ate on the ground floor of the restaurant. When the works are completed outside the view will fabulous.

Great staff, fantastic with our kids.

We had 5 people in our group, two had pasta which they enjoyed, I had rump steak, which was mb 6/10 and the chunky fries were not cooked properly. The last two had duck and we had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. I sent a message to the restaurant the next day, but 1 1/2 weeks later I have had no reply. Not a good experience at all. Definitely will not be back or recommend to my Airbnb guests.

We booked this restaurant on the off chance as we wanted somewhere closer to our hotel for the evening. It did not disappoint... the restaurant was clean and welcoming, clearly a family run restaurant with lovely and friendly service. The food itself was amazing, we had 3 courses and it was all beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Well worth a visit, if we are ever visiting that way from Bristol again, we would eat there!

Went for birthday dinner with my wife and was very busy when we arrived. Had a bit of a wait to order but food then arrived quickly. Pasta was very tasty and we received a complimentary dessert for our initial wait. We spent upwards of 2.5 hrs there and will be back.

All and All a disappointing evening I was expecting much better. Restaurant was cold and when the bottle of red wine arrived it was cold and not room temp. I ordered hand cut chips but got potato wedges. We had quite a wait from ordering until we actually got served. I generally don't mind a bit of a wait but this was a good 45 mins. Don't want to sound to negative as the food was very good. Ian

Outstanding food as always. Staff attentive but not invasive. Great menu we ordered our usual pizza and tiramisu. We booked the ground floor pizzeria as this is more casual, one gripe would be it’s a little cold though food so good wouldn’t stop me from returning,

Seemed there were only 2 floor staff who worked incredibly hard to maintain service but it was a little slow they need help will definitely be back

Awful experience at this restaurant. There were 11 of us, and they brought out 8 meals, which were finished and 4 meals still were not out. We actually had to go and ask if they were going to come out at all !! When they did come out, one was wrong, and had to go back. So, it eventually came out - it was spaghetti bolognese and it was like water with mince in it, how to ruin Italian food !! A member of the party had ordered steak and not only was it cooked wrongly, it hadn't been rested, not bad if you want a blood bath on your plate, it was really tough and wasn't sent back because we couldn't bear to wait for yet another meal to be recooked. When the bill came we were totally shocked - almost £500. Out of 11 people, only 4 got a starter and only 2 got desserts, everyone else was main course only, there was no wine or anything like that. They had a sneaky service charge of £50 added on without asking. There were also another table's cocktails added on (accidently on purpose perhaps), so when I got home I emailed the manager, who ignored me for a few days, then when I commented on their social media page, suddenly he decides to reply and actually had the cheek to 1- NOT apologise for ANYTHING, 2- Told me that if I didn't want a huge bill that next time I had to tell my guests to order small drinks, how is a glass of coke zero, a couple of bottles of beer large drinks? !!! 3 - Refused to give me the name and contact details of the owner, 4- LIED and said that the waitress had not got one of the orders wrong ( she clearly did, as it was wrong d'uh), and 5 - LIED and said that we had all commented that our meals were 'delish', firstly not one person was asked and secondly no one would even use the word 'delish'. So, all in all, a terrible experience and without a doubt the WORST customer service from any manager I have ever experienced. He also told me that usually he would reimburse the service charge for people with a voucher for £50, but he decided that we was NOT going to do that for me because I had emailed him with a complaint!! That's it - so he just decided he didn't want too?? All he had to do was say we were really busy (which they weren't, there was 4 tables occupied - and now I know why, you need to re-mortgage your house to eat here), and I'm sorry the meals came out at different times and I have taken the meal that was wrong (and gross) off the bill, but no, all I got was attitude. And a really bad one at that. I fully intend to find out who the owner is, and speak with him. If this is what he is employing as a manager, he may need to re-think. He said that the owner takes nothing to do with the restaurant and leaves everything to him - maybe that's the problem. Absolutely disgusted and you've just lost 11 good customers, who all used to eat here regularly with their own families, and I intend to spread this far and wide across social media. If you are thinking of eating here DO NOT. There's a lovely restaurant called Ownies which is a few buildings along from here, or the Windrose which is a 5 minute walk away. Castello Italia used to be great, but it looks like the choice of staff, the ridiculous prices and the terrible food is running this restaurant into the ground. Unfortunately I cannot attach the emails I got from this 'manager' as I'm sure he won't take responsibility for anything.

Went there with my husband for coffee. A bar woman with the funny accent was quite rude telling us that if you're just for coffee, it's no place they are all booked. There was no card on the table reserved. The way she spoke to us it was not nice at all , half of the words she spoke didn't understand, but she spoke with attitude ..... we been there several times and it was quite nice , probably changed owners..... soon after that, a man came and actually he was quite nice . Apologised and said we are booked for lunch.......

The warm friendly atmosphere, delicious food and great service at Costello's restaurant makes it our first choice to celebrate any family occassion or entertain overseas visitors. The view is stunning and we have never been disapponted.

Christmas Day lunch 2023 was amazing! Service was friendly and quick. Food was fresh, hot and very tasty!

Excellent food but a very long wait between starters and mains. Table booked for 12.30, mains served at 2.00. With a four year old in our group it did not make for a very relaxed meal. Desert was served much quicker which was appreciated

The food was of good quality, the drinks are very pricy though. Our drinks bill alone was £80. What concerned me was the 10% service charge on the bill which in our case was £40. This was quite expensive and to be honest when three of our party had to wait 10/15 minutes after everyone else was served for their simple bolognaise dish it was disappointing. I do believe these dishes were forgotten about. Also staff should ask before they put sauces or extras on dinners. One bolognaise dish had Parmesan on top which he doesn’t like so it had to be sent back and also one of our party had gravy covering his dinner when he doesn’t like gravy.

Girls who served us were lovely. The food we had was so tasty, cocktails would rival berts bar. Definitely recommend it

We booked a table for 6 well in advance of date we arrived at 1pm got seated and had drinks we were eating off a set menu at £35 pounds a head bar 1 child who only wanted pizza. Are our starters which were lovely but by 2.30pm we still hadn't received any main courses or pizza we did complain as we had tickets to be somewhere at 3pm. Service was a shambles when we finally got our main courses we had to eat them so quickly we couldn't even enjoy it didn't have time for dessert and my child had to carryout his pizza in a box as he had no time at all to eat it. And we were then late for or 3pm plans! Overall not good castello!!

Went on Boxing Day for lunch and it was a nice family experience. Staff were friendly and took good care of us. Restaurant was not busy and despite ordering all courses at start there was quite a wait for each course and it was starting to go into the ‘too long to wait’ category. When food came it was very nice and well presented etc. view from restaurant is amazing and lovely to sit and watch out.

Always a treat at Castellos, am looking forward to seeing the Christmas menu.

A really enjoyable early evening dinner.Friendly service and excellent food, my only minor criticism would be that I often find the servings a little too generous I like to leave a clean plate but its not always possible at Castello as portions are so big. Its probably just me!

If you have an anniversary it's the place to go to, I did enjoy the food and friendly staff upstairs window seats great view of Belfast Lough , Thank you Castillo.

Thank you to all the staff they were very welcoming and attentive and handled all of our questions regarding food choices well or checked with the kitchen if they were unsure. A lovely festive afternoon and the desserts are to die for I will certainly be popping in for coffee and a sneaky dessert again 😋

Absolutely fabulous food as usual. We ate in the downstairs Pizzeria for a change and it had a really lovely buzz about it. Our server was friendly but still professional. Don't miss a visit or you will regret it.

Quality food and great service in a great setting. If you get a window seat you have spectacular views over the lough.

Restaurant is lovely. Very comfortable & warm. Staff were lovely. Marking one down as we were not offered more drinks until our meal was finished. Our mains also took quite a while to arrive. Food very tasty & portions very big so good value.

This was our first time at the Castillo Italia. We'd been given vouchers as a present and I'll be honest, I'm glad we had them. The restaurant is beautiful, nicely laid out and very relaxing to be in. The food (Cajon Chicken Stack) was absolutely delicious...my husband hasn't shut up about it. We will most definitely be back and soon. I'm sorry the picture really doesn't do it justice but it tasted amazing !! Thank you

Arrived and was greeted by a friendly member of staff. We got to pick where we wanted to sit. The food was delicious and was served quickly. I couldn’t finish my main course so it was boxed up for me. Dessert was big but really nice. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely return. Price was very reasonable.

We had a lovely evening and at no time did we feel pressured to leave even tho we were the last ones there.

Visited as were staying in Carrickfergus. Absolutely superb food and service, lovely to see all the staff mucking in also. Portions very big and incredibly tasty. It was packed so that speaks volumes this was in the upstairs restaurant. Give this place a go.

Had a really nice early evening meal here recently. My wife and I had pizzas which were really great, whilst our son had chicken and chips (and there was plenty of it). The staff ere absolutely superb showing alot of attention to our young son, which he loved. Will definitely be going back.

We had a lovely meal this evening. Thanks to John McGhee the Manager for looking after us so well, he is very professional and is such an asset to this restaurant. Thanks also to Ella for her excellent , friendly service. Lovely ambience in the Restaurant and even though it was very busy the service didn’t suffer.

Best pizza in Northern Ireland. They have nothing to envy from the authentic Italians!

The food is simply delicious!! My favorite place in Carrickfergus

Far too expensive. Mark up of prosecco at £32 is ridiculous and of poor quality. Salmon was perfectly cooked but sitting on a bed of salty, salty potato and chorizo sauce ruined my experience. 2 scallop risotto was £43.90! Service responsive but I won't be hurrying back. Disappointed as I have eaten here several times.

The food and wine were lovely and service couldn't be better. We were looked after really well. It was just a bit cold but to be fair they were closing after we left.

Great venue, perfect for a private function for a family celebration. Excellent food and happy to accommodate some preferences. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive even while making the arrangements and throughout the night. Feedback from the family was also excellent.

The food in the restaurant is very good. I’ve enjoyed every meal we’ve had here. So we recently tried the delivery and waited over 1hr and 20mins (on a Thursday) only for the food to arrive and it was cold. The pizzas were good once we heated them up, but we had also ordered fries and a peppercorn sauce. We got handed a bag at the our door and it was clear that the sauce had leaked immediately. It had spilt all over the bag and none was salvageable. The fries were also cold. Overall it was a very disappointing meal which we had looked forward to given how much we like the restaurant

If you like bitter coffee this is the place for you! Even the cappuccino was strong and bitter. Food was fine and staff were lovely but I'll go elsewhere for coffee next time.

Our last night of a visit to NI to family. A window table for 6 adults + 2 kids had been booked but not available. Menus studied but no pizzas and this is an Italian restaurant. (The Pizza oven is downstairs and they only carry up kids pizzas). Orders were placed for all meals then drinks. Drivers chose diet coke. This was served from the "gun" and was totally devoid of fizz, flat being an understatement. One of the party ordered a small bottle instead. Water was requested twice as the first attempt was ignored. It's a good job the drinks were not shorts as we were well down the glasses when the food finally arrived - roughly a full hour after ordering. It was however quite satisfactory. We decided against sweets as having arrived promptly at 6pm, we wanted to watch the rugby at 8 pm. Throughout the meal we were conscious of being constantly scrutinised by the manager and his underling. Staff in general seemed to lack the light hearted humour and bonhomie found in other establishments during our stay. these factors combined to create a somewhat gloomy ambience.

A really lovely family lunch in the upstairs restaurant. Food really is fabulous - like first class. Service prompt and professional. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks a million!

The Guinness bread is delicious!

Possibly our 6th/7th time here but this time the food wasn't up to the usual standard.The drinks were so flat we couldn't enjoy them at all, the garlic bread wasn't edible because it was a naan type of bread that was cut too thinly and toasted too much that it broke to pieces. Service great as always though and these issues won't put us off returning.

Came here all the time with my cheating ex boyfriend, it was our favourite restaurant. The place is so nice to eat at I recommended it to the girl he cheated on me with. The food is always delicious and you can rest assured it comes out in good time, unlike my ex.

Have eaten breakfast,pizza,coffee etc in ground floor restaurant and all been fine,nothing special but perfectly adequate . Booked the recently reopened first floor restaurant for a special birthday meal tonight (29/09/23) and wish I hadn’t bothered. Service atrocious ,waiting time 1 hour and 5 minutes, wrong meal delivered so another 20 minutes while two of us ate and the other had nothing. Food,when it finally came was not even average quality. Very disappointing experience.

Had their seared scallops. Have to say it was small for a main course, just the four scallops in it (plus bits of prosciutto, etc.). To make up for it I had the selection of Irish and Italian cheese with fruit chutney and crackers. I’d not order the scallops again unless I’d had a starter. They were good, it was just a small portion for a main course. I’ve had other choices here that were very satisfying, I should add.

Great food with lots of variety. They have a great selection of cocktails and desserts too. Friendly staff! However when you're asked if you want a large drink be aware they will charge you for 2 small drinks, which I felt was a strange upsell technique.

Amazing as always. Never a bad meal here, we love it. Seafood meals were all great; the beef featherblade, the Alfredo and the chicken were all fab. Great cocktails, fairly priced for what you get. A restaurant that never lets you down and always provides a great meal.

Food freezing and tasteless pizza base burnt .. I tried the restaurant twice and was very disappointed before thought I’d give it another go for deliver 3rd time lucky!!! What a waste of money!!! Should of ordered a domino’s

Have enjoyed Castello Italia in the past, however, did not have a good experience this time. Service was incredibly slow throughout our visit. Starters were good, but main course was not. Would be reluctant to return.

Very good service, nice atmosphere. Lovely Cesar Salads and bruscetta. However, we were very disappointed with the mushroom risotto, which was definitely not of the same quality as usual. The flavour and texture was poor. I had recommended this to my Australian friend - but sadly it was less good that my previous experience.

Used to be lovely. New menu, main course was barely edible. Starters were nice however service was extremely slow.

I had the beef gnocchi, after it was recommended by a family member. Oh my goodness! Absolutely delicious the beef had fallen apart and was in a deliciously rich and unctuous red wine sauce. Belissimo!

Once again a stunning wee pizza date with my nephew for his birthday treat. Fabulous pizza, the milkshake got a double thumbs up and the service was as it always is, perfect. Thank you for a really lovely date with my nephew. Also lovely to get a wee chat with Arthur 🙏

As an American visiting my friends in Ireland, I asked to take them out for our final night. I requested the restaurant had great food and great views. Well they didn’t disappoint! Without hesitation and they both recommended this great restaurant in Carrickfergus. I met the owner Arthur who was very accommodating and changed our tables to give us a great view. The appetizers were hot and tasty, the Guinness and Pinot was ice cold, and the entrées were very succulent and seasoned to perfection. My friend Tony had an affogato which he thoroughly enjoyed and I split a crème brûlée with Maeve which was out of this world. I wish I had room for a gelato or Nutella (see pic). I loved that restaurant and I’ll never forget my night in Carrickfergus! New friends combined with a great ambiance was the capstone for perfect trip!

Lovely food, and great to see an enthusiastic owner and his staff being rewarded with real appreciation for the lush Italian food they cook there.

Great food, good size of portions, would have had one side between 2 of us.

We were very disaapointed. booked a table ahead of time. Cocktails were poor. Forgot out prosecco for pornstar martinis no passionfruit. Selection was poor lasagne was dried out. Lamb shank cremated like it had been overcooked for hours. even charged us an extra for a teaspoon of parmesan cheese to sprinkle on pasta dish.

I have never done a negative review, I was deeply disappointed from start to finish with our meal with the exception of the floor manager that moved us after we were seated to a window seat, he took our drinks order didn't see him after that, I ordered the

Very delicious food. People think they wait a long time for food, but making a fresh meal takes time so that's also a plus. Bolognese great, gnocchi with beef incredible and wonderfull pizza with the best pizza dough I've ever eat. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Incredible food with good service

Excellent food as always! Service was friendly and attentive with a personal touch. Very kind of waitress to offer us the dessert so they could clear the cabinet to make fresh dessert for the next day. Definitely appreciate that these are handmade each day and it was delicious- nice to try something we wouldn't normally choose!

Order a carry out for the family the waiting time was very long and when I got my carry out home the food was awful and burnt and tasteless very poor experience and would not recommend or dine here again. Was very expensive for what I got and terrible food. Ordered 2 scones average size was £7.00 absolute rip-off.

We were seated as soon as we arrived about 6.30 but it was 7.25 before we received our food. My mother did query the wait as others were arriving after us and being served first. When food arrived it was very good as it always is

I was at the downstairs cafe- / pizzeria for lunch with my young niece today. From the arrival at the door until we left the staff were so lovely to us. We had pizza, and it was delicious. We left went to the cinema and returned later for their crepes and they still gave us free icecream. We will be back and i will recommend this place to others.

We had a great dinner of starters and pizza tonight (9/8/23) the food was great and the service was very quick. Our server EMILY was fantastic, very pleasant, great customer service and overall she just made our evening. Well done EMILY.

Not a great dining area but food and service excellent. Four of us dined and only slight complaint was that the beef in the gnocchi was a bit too sweet.
