Stayed here many years ago with three labradors and loved it, went back recently and was concerned it would not appear as good, no worries, the different three labradors had a great stay and so did we, great setting and view, food was great and very helpful staff.

This is a lovely wee hotel to visit. Full of charm and character. The staff are very friendly, the food is excellent!! And, importantly for us, the bar is dog friendly (not the dining room, but if you eat in the bar, your canine family can join you). The rooms are spacious and themselves full of character. The artwork on the walls continues to fascinate. We have visited twice now and loved it on both occasions.

Really enjoyed my afternoon tea. Service was a mixed bag of fast and slow and they could have asked if we wanted anything else laterly but would still definitely recommend. Beautiful setting

We stayed for 2 nights this weekend. Our meal on Fri was delicious (if somewhat expensive), however the restaurant was so warm. Uncomfortably so.. Our room was above the main bar area and was like a sauna, with no means to vary the temp as the heat was coming from the pipes, except to open the large and heavy window in the room. (not great when you're above the main entrance to the hotel). Had a terrible night sleep, and it was pretty noisy too due to being above the bar area (breakfast also served there), as well as next to the cupboard the maids use... Breakfast was decent... 2nd night was cooler in the room but just as noisy. We had enquired about moving room after Friday but were told the hotel was very busy as a wedding was on. Overall, would I stay again based on this weekend? No, I'm afraid. It wasn't worth the money for a poor night's sleep. I will say though that the staff were really lovely.

Me and my partner (now wife!) got married here recently. The hotel is amazing and the staff couldn't have been better. The level of service was second to none and we had the most perfect day thanks to the Banchory Lodge team. Special mention to Ebony who helped us plan the event. She was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. Our wedding truly was a dream day and we couldn't be happier!

My husband and I came across this hotel as part of a larger group last year and were impressed with the service and passion of their staff. We are just back from our 3rd stay of this year and it never disappoints.Having read some of the other comments about pricing we are firm believers in paying for quality and consider this hotel to be fantastic value for money.Excellent service from David the restaurant manger and his team.We are already planning our next visit.very highly recommend.

A fantastic place at the banks of River Dee. I appreciated the warm welcome and quick check in. The whole house is decorated with lovely details and feels friendly and cozy. My room was comfy, lovely bed and thick curtains. A kettle and a broad selection of tea, chocolate, coffee were highly accepted. The terrace is perfect to relax and hang out as are the benches at the river. The only thing I didn't like was the small and quite idealess selection of vegetarian meals at dinnertime. But this could be easily changed.

Dont get me wrong this is a lovely country hotel, set in beautiful deeside.. however… Firstly we booked a top notch terrace room, we decided on this as it “over looked the river” and looked beautiful on the website.. it was airy and spacious. We were really excited this was a treat to ourselves before the next member if our family arrived. We checked in no problem and were shown to our room we started going up stairs and i ask is our room not on the ground floor, to be told no room are no ground floor rooms which did confuse me as how else can you have a terrace, i asked give i am heavy pregnant can we get there without going up all these stairs, the gentlman looked confused but another member of staff suggested going via the outside route, thankfully a few set of steps and we were in our room… Well thats room was nothing like the website , it was dark and dingy and tiny, me and my bump could hardly fit past the table, and it did not over look the river by any stretch of the imagination, it over looked the front of the hotel and the door to the bar. I was deviated at how mislead i had been when booking. People were standing outside our door chatting and looking in at us as they did so, it was not the scenic room the website had offered me. There was no general manager to speak to and we were told by receptionist staff that it was the smallest room but it had a four poster bed, if your going to try cover up with something nice at least have a nice four poster, this one had half it curtains missing and curtains eyes hanging from it and it was very very noisy. We were told there were no other rooms available and honestly the reception staff couldn’t have cared less. we decided to check out and leave but i wanted my money refunded as i was miss sold my room. There was a restaurant manager there who could see I was there obviously upset and i showed him the web site description and he agreed as did the reception staff that the room did not over look the river. He tried to find us another rook however everyone had checked in by now. So agreed that we should be refunded if we aren’t staying, but no general manager available till Monday to Acton this. We went to check out and before we could pack our bag the reception called to offered a discount on our room, which we did accept and decided to stay. We had booked dinner bed and breakfast, the restaurant manager did an amazing job making us feel special keeping us a table over looking the river. The food was good which brightened our day, however the other staff seemed a bit task focused. I went to the bar to take a drink back to our room multiple member of staff were at the bar came and went and only one actually acknowledged me.. i don’t know if bar staff were off sick or thats normal but i felt like they were too busy to stop and take my order. Our night sleep was disrupted by the creeky bed, and i was just disappointed in the repair in the room, light bulbs out, black in shower tray etc We had breakfast the next morning and it just added to my disappointment, a very small menu, you would think freshly cooked, but no it was not. I ordered the Scottish breakfast without haggis as pregnant I cant eat it. My husband also had the breakfast it arrived very quickly and had obviously been pre cooked the bacon was so hard it stood up by itself, my black pudding had haggis on it the only thing freshly cooked was my poached egg which was raw still… when i spoke to the staff she stood and argued with me in the restaurant saying it wasn’t haggis, i asked what it was then , and explained i am pregnant i cant eat haggis, which she snapped at me “well i didn’t know you were pregnant” and agreed to take my plate back to the kitchen.. all in all a terrible experience. We went back to our room yo relax before checking out to have the staff start hoovering at 9am outside our room, the official icing in the cake in my opinion. I really hope this has just been a catalogue of bad luck and this hotel is not normally run like this.

Nice place, location is great and sits right on the water. The rooms are a good size, very clean. Only one issue with the room was that the toilet in the room was constantly over filling into the toilet.
