I don't understand how are they selling and advertising as Mexican restaurant??? The MEXICAN food was NOT AUTHENTIC AT ALL. The Tacos and filling inside was just like a regular/basic Wrap & who puts lettuce inside Tacos?? The tortillas were of wheat and not corn. Also it is over priced!! Skip this one and save your money & tummy.

I had an amazing experience at Baja. The servers were really friendly and helpful when i had questions. The fajita portion sizes are huge as well as delicious and i loved the chicken tacos

If youre in bedford you shouldnt give this place a miss. We visited as a large group and the food and drinks were all served in good time and fresh. From the starters i would really recommend the halloumi fries and tenders. I shared fajitas and dirty fries with a friend and both were excellent

By far, the worst Mexican food we have ever eaten, it was not even close to being called Mexican. Tacos felt like I was eating in a bistro shop at 3 AM. Tortillas tasted like the ones bought from Tesco. On top, it is really overpriced.

Called for delivery and it was nothing like advertised. When I complained about the chimichanga, which should have been deep fried I was told it needed to be grilled first to seal. Unfortunately in this instance they must of forgot to DEEP fry mine. Filling was dry and tasteless and full of gristle. The 4 cheese toastie was awfully soggy, even the dog turned his nose up. Filled with jalepenos, kidney beans and unmelted cheese’s on what I can only assume is some form of pitta bread all in all not advertised. And the driver forgot to deliver the smoothie. I have eaten at many excellent Mexicans. Believe me this was not one of them 🤢

This is a great find, the layout is inviting, the service was attentive and the food was wonderful. The meals were well presented, very tasty and a really good portion size too. We will definitely eat here again.

Came to eat in, really quiet for a Saturday night. Really delicious food, vegan friendly and good value for money, would 100% come again and recommend

2 HOUR WAIT FOR A 3 MILE DELIVERY. Ordered food for delivery at 2045hrs. Was told the food would arrive between 2115 and 2130. Food didn't arrive. Was informed my food would arrive between 2210 and 2230. Called Baja and someone told me the order is about to leave the restaurant in 2 mins... we live 10 mins away. Food didn't arrive. I called Baja to cancel the order because my partner had now fallen asleep on the couch, waiting... I was told the delivery driver is 5 mins away... At this point I just wanted to cancel and get a refund. The chap on the phone said he would cancel it and issue a FULL REFUND. Still waiting on the refund, some 10 days later. A knock on the front door at 2245.. its the delivery driver. Now we live in a quiet cul-de-sac and this delivery driver was loud, bot softly spoken at all. She asked if I wanted the food on the house, I closed the front door to see if we were actually just going to skip the meal and go to bed. The delivery driver also confirmed that the meal was free of charge and I would receive my refund. We took the food. Food was just below average. Not maasively flavoursome but wasn't that bad... wouldn't order again and I hear that the dine in experience isn't too great neither. Would just like my money back please, as promised twice. Massive disappointment. 2 hour wait for mediocre food. Edit: THE REFUND PROCESS WAS NOT EXPLAINED BY BAJA AT ANY TIME. I HAVE SINCE INITIATED THE PROCESS 48 HOURS AGO.. Looks like you've not allowed me to apply for any form of refund as I'm seeing notices stating, your food has been processed so you've been charged for the food. Kind of feels like Baja have done this before.... there is no physical option to request a refund on the app... well played to the owner. Cancellation fee = refund.

My milkshake didn't arrive so I require a refund on that item please

Imagine having to microwave your roast chicken cos it’s rare? Such a shame. Rest of the food really good and the chicken was lovely after 7 mins on 800w being nuked

Unfortunately not up to Baja usual standard. Food was cold and soggy when it arrived and the wait was a long time (1.5hr) for a small order. Fish tacos were bizarrely like plain fish finger fillets you’d serve a child with no flavour/dressing/spice. Burritos were dry and missing flavour/sauce inside.

Food is low quality on a take away. Chicken wings do not look appetising, chicken is dry and they forgot the drink. I also ordered at 7:00pm and it was delivered at 9:30pm. I’d stick with El Picante in Bedford.

The food was cold, chips soggy, inside the food I had they seemed to pack it out with chips inside it as well which wasn’t on the menu and it was rank. The beef burger had hard fatty lumps in it. Basically the whole thing was awful. Arrived late, cold and not edible so it just went in the bin.

The staff were very friendly and service was great. But unfortunately that’s all I can say about it. It wasn’t busy at all, only 2 other tables on a Saturday night. The food was bad just awful. It lacked the Mexican flavour it was so bland. Nachos were horrendous, only top portion with cheese bottom layer just very salty chips from a packet, not homemade chips. Cheese just clumped together barely any guacamole/sour cream. I’ve made better nachos than this. Burrito served with a side of mayo which I assume it was supposed to be creama. Mayo and burrito do not go together, not Mexican at all. To top it off, we got churros for dessert, it was absolutely disgusting. It wasn’t cooked properly still doughy and no cinnamon sugar sprinkled over it. And it was fried in the same oil as the fish goujons. We smelt it and smelt exactly like fish, tasted like stagnant oil with fish flavouring, utterly disgusting! We were very disappointed. Don’t see how others rated it 4+. We will never come back.

Oh man, I get it's hard out here for small businesses but I've left this place feeling genuinely unwell. Had Fajitas - the chicken was fine, but soured cream and cheese tasted processed and fake and the guacamole was the kind squeezed out a tube - I wouldn't eat that at home let alone pay a restaurant for it. Please make your own! It's been a long time since I've had food that disgusting. That said, the staff were all really lovely.

Ordered delivery, after waiting for over an hour and a half, was told that the order had been cancelled as the restaurant was "unable to make it". Ridiculous!

The complete order was burnt, eating my torta I could taste it, ended up throwing it away.

Unfortunately food arrived cold and buffalo chicken had hardly any sauce.

taquitos are better, no options for chicken tacos here, to much cumin in the mince

I don't know why this place has so many 5 star reviews but I am very disappointed with the food here, the service is okay and the drinks are nice but the food, the food man is the worst mexican I've had, the chicken inside the enchilada and chimichanga were not fresh you could taste the gaminess of the chicken, it was dry and lacked flavour, the cheesy fries was over spicy and the spicy sauce tasted like the bottled chilli sauce you get at a chicken and chips takeaway. I won't be coming back again. I spent £60 for a family of three which is expensive when the food is below average, took the food to go as I'd rather feed it to the ducks than waste it. Not happy 👎🏼👎🏼

Sometimes the lamb ribs can be a little over done, but normally they're ok, but today's offerings were absolutely terrible, you couldn't even get a fork throu them, one meal totally ruined and not exactly cheap either.

Food isn't as good as used to be they also added more spice to the meat even tho it was perfectly fine b4 and meat tastes dryer and less quality.. Asa royal customer I gave grace about 3 orders ago but atm it's not good so may not order from here for a long time

Food was okay; remember it being a lot nicer the previous time we had eaten from here. Slightly disappointing having spent an extra £5.50 on top of one of the meals to get a milkshake and avocado added as extras only to be sent the completely wrong milkshake and the smallest amount of avocado (more like a t-spoon of guacamole) it was barely worth putting it in at all. Chips weren’t very warm and were wet from where they had sweated so much in the tin… On a positive note - The burrito & chimichanga were nice (although lukewarm) - the wings were good; more than expected.

Food was delicious & filling too, all at a very reasonable price. However, it was a quite empty when I went on a Sunday afternoon.

WARNING If this is your first time, DONT BOTHER! We ordered a take away which the staff member taking the order wasn’t familiar with the menu, and didn’t know what I was talking about. and when turning up early was made to feel uncomfortable and to come back in 20 minutes as he told us “40 minutes on the phone” with that I left, come back 20 minutes later food still not done. To get home to be given dog meat in a wrap and not tacos that I had asked for. When I called back and asked what happened to the taccos they explained it would be too messy which left me very confused max I’ve asked for taco not a lamb wrap. Wouldn’t waste my time or money ever again.

Ordered Takeaway on Deliveroo a few nights ago & one thing I can say is the Burrito is MASSIVE. If you live burrito’s you’d definitely enjoy it. The fries were cold when they got to me so that was a downside, maybe collection or dine in would be better if you don’t live too far. The Churro’s are amazing, they’re just a little oily but it’s fine. I wish the empanadas were a bit less oily but again, they were tastyyy. All in all, I would suggest this restaurant as it’s a good treat ! Prices are affordable & the food is tasty. Will deffo be eating from here again 😊

Never will I order from this place. Worst Mexican food, if you can even call it that. The food arrived late and was cold, and even so, it tasted disgusting; the entire order ended up in the bin, and just eat wouldn't refund my money; not happy! Avoid this place. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Bedford.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here with friends. I can highly recommend the calamari to start, the lamb chops and the fajitas, followed by the amazing sundae to finish. Great mocktails too!

Didn't eat in so can't comment on the service and ambience, but spent a lot this weekend on food for a family of 5. Pleasantly surprised the portion sizes were generous, but sadly won't be ordering again. Reason being: lamb rack wasn't lamb. It was mutton. I know it was mutton so no need to see a response insisting it was lamb as that would be a lack of remorse on the restaurant's part for serving something not advertised. Furthermore, the meat dishes felt chewy and definitely not fresh. Almost like it had been reheated. It's because of this that I won't be ordering or visiting, which is such a shame as I was glad there was a decent looking Mexican restaurant though I now know better. Maybe there's gonna be an improvement? Guess only time will tell...

Had decided to try this place as it’s local to me in the area, I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t stay for it. When we arrived we was greeted by a very bleak waitress, was then sat for 15 mins & hadn’t been offered a drink until I said out loud as a waiter walked past. Then again, very bleak & miserable. It wasn’t busy at all on a Saturday night so no excuses. After we ordered the drinks, just from the atmosphere & greetings I decided to leave. Won’t be coming back.

We absolutely love a Mexican and Baja did not disappoint! We were absolutely stuffed when we left thanks to the generous portion size! I had an enchilada, my partner a chicken chimichunga and both were delicious. Two sides of Mexican rice and dirty fries (for you spice lovers). I would have liked to see slightly more options for veggies, and parking to no fault of the restaurants is non existent so you'll have a walk of about 4+ minutes though that's kind of handy after a big meal! The staff weren't as friendly as some I've met but they were quick and attentive. Overall, good visit, we would definitely go back!

Food was delicious and well cooked and well packaged. Portions are just right and every bite was very tasty.

Always good from you guys, the 2 chop meal was very hot again, the Mrs actually ran the meat under the tap this time to try and rinse off whatever it was that it was cooked in, but still, great meal.

Lamb ribs were hard and chewy. Both plates had a weird liquid around the sauce and with the potato tots you could taste the oil where it was deep fried needed a change. Staff friendliness was okay and speed of service also good. After We left we were to the restaurant is in front of, and I saw how the chef was coming from somewhere else carrying (on the street on a rainy day) a bucket full of uncovered frozen meat and going into the restaurant. Absolutely unacceptable! Such a bad food hygiene. Update: I can reassure everyone it wasn't vegetables as the owner explains, I could clearly see the meat, as the bucket was absolutely full.

Didn't quite hit that warm and cosy feel, a little drafty. Very friendly and helpful staff. I found the food a little on the pricy side, but it did taste amazing, and i didn't come away feeling ripped off.

Over all it was good and happy with it, but I do have to say my Nachos where a little cold

Very nice food, although it was a bit luke warm in temperature when it arrived. We like our food spicy, so the smoked chilli salsa was a good choice over the normal salsa, but it was a shame it was cooked rather than fresh and that there was only half a pot! Having said this, I would recommend Baja, and I would definitely order from here again.

Lovely little place to eat out. During summer it's gorgeous because you get to walk along the Riverside which is lovely. The food here was really nice. Dirty fries and some non alcoholic sangrias was yum. Will have to makesure there is seating available as it does get packed

I’ve ordered before and for some reason this Tim they gave me a dismantled fajita wrap, and the Mexican rice were no good. The empanadas tasted like it gone off.

Food still hasn’t arrived 2 hours after ordering. Restaurant was helpful and have advised that the food is now on the way and we should request a discount via just eat.

I like spice as much as the next person but the smoke burger was lukewarm and stupidly spicy couldn’t eat it… chips were cold, rice cold unfortunately all went in the bin except the coca cola and the cookie dough. Won’t be ordering again.

I don’t know why they get mixed feedback. We went to Bedford for our usual visit to Santaniello and for the first time ever is was so full they couldn’t take us. A quick wander got us to Bala and, surprise surprise we sat down to the best Mex meal we’ve ever had. Huge portions, wonderful fresh food packed with flavour, and friendly and attentive service. Congratulations Bala, we now have another reason for visiting Bedford!

Favourite Mexican restaurant, the food is always amazing and vegetarian options are delicious.

It's been a long time since I had such tender, delicious and well battered fried calamari, which makes it difficult to write his poor-rated review. I ordered the calamari while I waited for my take-away chicken burrito. Based on the delicious calamari I was greatly anticipating my burrito back at home. But the burrito was so bad from the first bite that I can't figure out why there was such a contrast between the two menu items. It was like a fine chef prepared the calamari and a drunk monkey prepared the burrito. Something very bad happened to the chicken from when it was alive to when it was put into my meal. The only thing I know for certain is that whoever prepared it knew very well that it should not be served. I took the chicken-flavored cardboard out and offered it to my cat (who lives for chicken), but even she wouldn't eat a bite. She was so insulted that I had to go to Tesco to buy her. a packet of chicken that she could actually eat.

The burrito here is absolutely amazing! Good spice, amazing taste on the rice and beans and the salsa mexicana/roja is really so fresh! Hands down 5 stars for this burrito
