Aperitivo in Aberdeen City

This was my first visit here, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lovely Italian close to city centre, very tasty and very good value lunch menu served until 6pm I think. Delicious and very busy so obviously very popular.

Great food and good service. The breads served with the pasta is served cold. Wasn’t impressed with that but overall good experience.

Family visit in afternoon. We've been here before and enjoyed it then too. Special pricing for your choice of two or three courses from lunch menu (good quality, reduced portion sizes for this menu compared to full price dishes, but just as tasty) . Thanks to the staff of this family run business.

Went for dinner to celebrate our anniversary, it has been over a year since our last visit but we won't leave it so long next time. Attentive and friendly service. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, fresh ingredients and presented with care. First time trying orange wine, which we both thoroughly enjoyed.

The 2/3 course lunch menu was basic. Bit disappointed with the presentation and quality. Busy with a good atmosphere and the servers were friendly and attentive.

Been a while since I was last here and it didn’t disappoint, we had the set lunch time menu, great choices, the food was divine, bruschetta x 2 a chicken dish with Mediterranean veg in a beautiful sauce delicious and we had one tiramisu and profiteroles a couple of cocktails and 4 beers all for £72 great value for money and the service was excellent even though it was really busy. We thoroughly recommend.😊

This spot is great for informal dining and very good quality food at affordable prices. The portions are very generous indeed and there's lots to choose from as well as the usual Italian dishes

The food was really good even though the menu was very limited. This was my 3rd visit here and this was the first restaurant I went to in covid times. It didn’t disappoint.

What a superb evening we had. It was my sons 25th birthday and the evening was just excellent . We had nibbles of bread with balsamic, olive oil some of the most amazing olives I’ve had. The 3 carnivores all had super meals and as the lone veggie they made the starter risotto balls into a main for me. Sublime is the best description and I just had a tiny space left for a dessert (why I opted for a starter…). The black cherries and i ice cream was a very nice finish. To top it off we could not turn down Expresso Martinis and Limoncellos. Lovely meal, great company and definitely worthy of a visit. Many thanks to Michael, Lene and team.

Went to Aperitivo last night for a meal and it did not disappoint. The service from the staff was absolutely first class, They allowed to us to be moved later on as we were a little warm. The food itself was fantastic. Ordered a side of mushrooms which could have fed a table of 4. Portion sizes were really good as well.Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

The quality of the food was really good, we had the miseria which had quality food and good choice. My spaghetti monkfish was really nice and tasty, my wife had the chicken of the day which totally enjoyed.Great food and good atmosphere I can't ask for more.

This was our first time since reopening as Al Fresco, out with three friends and we all had the set menu which was lovely and great value. I had the chicken and it was full of flavour and vegetables cooked to perfection. A really relaxing afternoon with good food, company and excellent service. We're already booking our next lunch.

New name is Al Fresco but the food is as good as always and couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough!

My boyfriend and I visited for an early birthday meal for the both of us. I had prawns for a starter which were nice. For our mains we chose 2 different specials and while they were nice we didn't think they were anything outstanding. We shared an ice cream dessert which was good. While the evening was good I don't think I would return and probably wouldn't recommend it. It is definitely not terrible but I just feel for what we paid compared to other restaurants it wasn't that great.

Really nice staff and food was lovely best salad i have ever had and my partner was really impressed with his pasta, only fault i was say it says freshly squeezed orange juice on menu and when we asked if it was actually oranges squeezed into a cup the waiter said oh no out of a tub! And i felt we were sat quite close to people and should have been spaces out a bit more as the restaurant wasn’t that busy, other than that very pleased and would recommend!

He visitado este restaurante muchas veces antes de Covid, pero esta fue mi primera visita durante el mismo. No esperaba el nivel de profesionalismo que teníamos. Fue de primera clase. El personal nos hizo sentir bienvenidos y relajados en todo momento. La comida era excelente, así que recomendaría este encantador restaurante.

Very good food and service, it was like this before lockdown and they have picked up nicely now that trade is permitted again

8 of us went out for first time since covid for a meal, not sure what to expect. however a wonderfu welcome, nothing was too much bother. food was excellent and not rushed, would definately recommend.

Very disappointing! Had a table booked for Saturday, just to be told they dont have tables for us right now, no apology. Eventually managed to get a table outside, which we didn't mind. However, sadly the service was dreadful; the waitress was rude, when we asked her about the specials of the day, she muttered something. We could not hear anything, before we knew she was away. She spoiled our special celebration. Below average, I used to like this place.

We had our first meal here and honestly it was one of the friendliest environments! We felt incredibly welcome when we first came in our served was excellent very fast and the food! It was exceptional, the chicken was so tender it was absolutely delicious and the lasagna you could tell was homemade and made with passion. The brushetts starters were full of flavour! 14/10 would definitely recommend to anyone who loves homemade Italian food

I had been to a meeting and done some shopping and went back to the hotel to lie down for 10 minutes, 3 hours later I woke up and being a Friday restaurant after restaurant were fully booked until I found Aperitivo had a few empty tables so I wouldn't starve that night. The welcome was warm and friendly and I was shown to a table. The service was perfect and friendly without being intrusive. The menu was varied and the food was delicious. While I was eating I saw the desserts going to different tables which posed a problem, which one do I have. When the dessert menu came I solved the problem by ordering the first item which does mean that every visit to Aberdeen I will happily visit again and and work my way down the dessert menu as well as working my way down the main course menu.

I went here for a Spritz Aperol. As an Italian I can say that in two years I've been in Aberdeen, this was the best I was served. Only thing is: I was attracted from the sign saying "Aperol 3 pounds", but ended up paying 6 for my Spritz. I understand that Aperol is just one out of the 3 ingredients a Spritz is made of, but it's not a spirit to be drunk plain. So, I would suggest to remove the price for a shot of Aperol/Campari (which, as every Italian can confirm, it's ridiculous) and replace it with the actual prices for a Spritz. Considering what your name is, this is a matter of high importance: Spritz and aperitivo are like Aberdeen and granite. It would have been perfect if along with the Spritz I would have been served some finger food, but I understand this is not Italy, and getting a good Prosecco here tends to be expensive, so I think it still deserves 5 stars.

We went for cheap lunch menu. Whilst my starter of mozzarella, peppers, capers and olives was delicious, there main courses were disappointing. Good price but quality not so good. Maybe better to go for full price mains?

The best Italian food you can find in Aberdeen by far! Additionally, Aperitivo has a very cozy atmosphere and super nice and friendly staff, always up to make your day better with a pleasant conversation and impeccable service. Can only recommend - never had a bad meal here!

Visited this restaurant with a group of friends just before Christmas. Very busy but still got great service. Food was lovely and well presented. Value for money exceptional as we had the lunch menu which was two courses for £9.95! Cannot get better value. Am going back again with same friends next month.

Met here with friends, 1st time for me. It was for lunch & was quiet at the time. Met at door & shown to table. Extremely clean with professional & friendly staff, customer service was excellent. Food was good & plentiful. Lunchtime menu & pre theatre menu is excellent value, main menu is competitive. Recommended

Two of us came here at the weekend in evening, and were greeted and seated in the lovely and authentic restaurant. Had bruschetta which was faultless and a generous portion. Then, had monkfish pasta for main. Monkfish was nice and prawns seemed surprisingly fresh (most restaurants use frozen), which I deduced from the flakiness of the flesh. Would improve with more sauce but perhaps that’s just personal preference. Overall, was a fantastic experience. If I was to sum it up in one word, I’d use ‘Professional’. Very reasonably priced, especially for quality. I beg people to try places like this out rather than flocking to the inferior chain restaurants. Will definitely be back

Lunch with friends was exceptional. We selected from the set menu (£9.95 for two courses) which was amazing value. Service was brilliant and food delicious. Best lunch I’ve had for a long time.

I normally do not submit a restaurant review until visited at least twice - however the” Aperitivo “was so memorable that I decided an exception was in order.

7 of us went for early supper on Sunday. Some picked from pre theatre menu, and others from the a la carte We all had a lovely meal, plenty choice, good size portions. Very friendly waitress. Will be back

Visited Aperitivo today for lunch. The menu is varied and has a lot of choice. We chose the set lunch/pre theatre menu which had 2 courses for£9.95 or 3 for £12.95.

Visited last night with friends, I liked the table by the window we were given

We were supposed to have gone to Italy for a week but instead we did a Scottish road trip, so first night had to be an Italian meal. The staff were very friendly, in fact one waitress was almost in tear when she heard our story. The meal portions were huge. I had a calamari starter - the best calamari I have ever had (& I eat it a lot) and we shared a huge portion of garlic bread. I couldn't decide between 2 linguine dishes and the waitress suggested a half portion of each - they were both delicious but a single half portion would have been enough.

Booked a table for my family of 8 adults and 6 grandchildren to Aperitivo on their birthdays. There are lots of Italian restaurants in Aberdeen and this is one I hadn’t tried before but after this visit we will definitely be back. The service was excellent the food was good and the ambience was good, albeit we had a section of the restaurant to ourselves which allowed us to get up and walk around the table. The grandchildren were well catered for and entertained by the staff and everyone enjoyed their meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My love for Italian cuisine took me at this restaurant for my birthday meal. Must say it was delicious and best ever calamari compared to other Italian restaurants nearby. The only problem here I encounter was that I only eat fish and chicken so for main course I didn't had many choices. Even the special of the day which was chicken had some prosciutto in it! So ended up ordering same old mixed seafood in marinara sauce along with pasta. Liked the cocktails I ordered but I got a over cooked or rather burned side of sticky toffee pudding for the desert. But I think I will give it a try again sooner. May be I'll find better option in the main menu. Thank you.

My friend & I ordered the early evening meal which had a wide choice of starters, mains & desserts. We enjoyed 2 courses for £10 which was fantastic value. Both food and service were excellent.

Myself, better half and two young kids meal experience was second to none, very attentive staff, food was brilliant / impeccable and so nice with the kids.

The lunch set menu offers such good value for money. Once Again we had an excellent meal and great service at this fantastic city centre restaurant. I would highly recommend.

Came here on Friday and the meal and service was lovely. The restaurant was a bit quiet for a Friday night but they gave us a big table for 2 which was nice.

We had a lovely meal recently for our anniversary. My husband had not been in this restaurant, I had eaten there many times for lunch, pre theatre.

Well, first Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to that didn’t serve pizza!!! However what they do serve is absolutely fantastic. Great service and taste. Pollo Milano served with ravioli very nice!

I regularly meet up with friends in this restaurant for several reasons andcthecfact that I return time after time says it all!

Vi hadde fått anbefalt stedet. Bestilt bord. De fant ikke reservasjonen, men det var ingen problem da det ikke var mange gjester i lokalet. Vi fikk bord og menyer. Det gikk så 25 minutter og ikke en kelner kom til vårt bord. Det kom en annen kunde som fikk servering umiddelbart. Vi prøvde å få oppmerksomhet, men er vel grenser hva vi skal finne oss i? Lokalet såg utdatert ut. Tenker vi gikk ikke glipp av noe, gå over gaten til Fishmarket. Der er det flott, god service og utmerket mat!

Was there withmy family, went there to get some Italian food test. Unfortunately all dishes was so far away from proper test. Short to say it was uneatable portions. Personnel is very gently and kind, thank you !

After finding a small dead black beetle in my ceaser salad it put me off and I could not eat any more of it. The waiter asked if everything was ok with our meal and explained had left more than half after finding the beetle half covered in dressing. Because we were having our meal outside his reply was that it had probably flown into my food! Highly unlikely as I would have noticed and it was already dead!! No apology and not even the offer to deduct a couple of pounds off the bill. Not the way to treat customers so.they will not have our custom again.

Muscles / prawn pasta was excellent

Massive spicy mussels starters and Branzino.... Sea Bass with a caponata. Divine. Well done to Michael and the crew. Loved the sicilia notes in the menu and the no nonsense wine recommendations from our Hungarian server. With having just returned from Palermo and Trapani, it was really nice to come come to Aperitivo for a reminder of all things nice from Italy!

I have been a few Times with Friends and when family visits and it never disappoints!!! Amazing typical italian food and good atmosphere!! LOVE It!!!!

Came here for a late lunch for graduation celebrations and immediately felt rushed. There were 2 in the party that were vegetarian, and upon reading the menu there was no apparent order codes to indicate a meal was vegetarian. This made it difficult to order as their online menu seemed to show a lot of options, this wasn't the case in the restaurant. However our starters were all lovely and very tasty. The vegan menu (5 items) was the only 'safe' option for me, and when delivered it was hard pasta, half cooked mushrooms and pine nuts sitting in an unseasoned black mushroom water. The meat dishes we ordered were apparently lovely so it just seemed that the vegetarian/vegan options had zero thought put into them. Disappointed in the service we were given as it was all rushed at the beginning, then the most minimal interaction possible at the end.

First impressions weren’t encouraging. The complementary bread was lacklustre, and the Balsamic vinegar on the thin side. The meals saved the day though. We had Caprese and Polpette for starters. For mains, I had Pollo Melanzane (with Penne Arrabbiata) and my son had Risotto Pescatore. The portions are generous, and we were too stuffed to eat dessert, and we have healthy appetites. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The wine list is good too. We’ll definitely go back.

Good service do special lunch time deals

Had a meal here before going to the Music Hall.The service was good as was the meal.This is the first time i have eaten here and i will definitely be back. This restaurant was recommended by a family member.I am very fussy but could not fault anything i had. although the restaurant was packed i did not have to wait long to be served.

I ate lunch here with friends a few weeks ago. The meal was delicious. I went for the Penne Arrabiata and it was one of the best I have ever tasted. I will definitely eat here again soon.

Nice Italian restaurant with good menu. We had some fried risotto starters followed by a pork fillet dish and Pollo Vulcano, the chicken dish of the day. We decided to pass on the tempting desserts and finished with coffee and lemoncello. Excellent service and under £40 for both of us.

Service was good. Parma ham is amazing Food was very nice definitely coming back soon. I give 10/10.

He estado aquí muchas veces y lo recomiendo altamente. Grandes ofertas y el menú es variado y de buen valor. Me encanta la forma en que los camareros están vestidos con uniformes negros tradicionales con los tipos que parecen camareros continentales con largos delantales blancos, muy inteligentes. El servicio siempre ha sido excelente con un personal amable y eficiente, y también accesible y feliz de conversar sobre el menú y describir los ingredientes, etc. La comida en general siempre ha sido excelente (solo una vez un sándwich de salmón tostado fue una mala elección ya que es un poco seco , pero no había nada de malo en ello). Los platos de pasta con marisco son particularmente buenos, el pan de ajo con queso es el mejor de todos los tiempos y la Arancinette (las bolas de risotto rebozadas fritas empanadas - variedades de carne o verduras) son increíbles. Grandes ofertas y el menú es variado y de buen valor. Gran selección de vinos también. Maravilloso restaurante

Found this place by accident and boy are we glad we did. A real buzzed atmosphere with really friendly attentive staff. We had bruschetta and (separately) pate followed by linguine, arrabiata and lasagne. Portions were big, the taste of all three dishes sublime. We have travelled extensively in Italy and I can say with confidence that from a food standard and hospitality perspective, Aperitivo is right up with the best of the best. Go..... Now....

Went here for and early(ish) Saturday evening dinner with a book club group. I enjoyed it. The food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant also. From what I saw, everyone was pretty happy with the whole experience. The only minor hiccup was the service which could have been a bit more organised - in fact, one of the party had her main course delivered at the same time as other's starters. However, she did get a doggy bag of another main as recompense.

Good food, nice staff, not expensive. Will go again. Also nice interiour. And just next to the Union Street.
