Great service, great food, great experience

Great rooms, excellent staff and an amazing breakfast.

My all time favourite place to stay in the Lakes and especially room 4 in a quiet spot to the back of the building with a small patio to use. Breakfast is excellent and as vegans it's great to see vegan breakfast specials. We had vegan avocado tomato and cheese toastie, Shakashuka with scrambled tofu and vegan French toast. Oh my word with the food was incredible. Ambleside Manor has lovely rooms, guest lounge and lovely restaurant and conservatory. Ideally situated with plenty parking quiet yet a 5in walk into town. Always go home looking forward to the next visit. Staff are lovely too friendly helpful and always with a smile.

We've stayed here several times and will be back. Quiet but convenient location in the town, comfortable beds and a great breakfast. Staff are amiable and helpful.

Deal for 3 night b&b + 2 dinners in the associated restaurants in Ambleside is great. You don't need to be a vegetarian to appreciate the quality and variety of the food.

Just had the most amazing time at Ambleside Manor House! The staff was incredibly friendly, the service was top-notch, and our room was lovely and clean. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! Our overall experience was definitely a 5-star one!

Amazing service from the lovely front of house staff. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! We had the best scrambled tofu I've ever tried! 100% will come back here. The location is beautiful. You have scenic walks, lots of food options, a waterfall nearby and the town has great shops and activities. Not far from an amazing spa and other activities.

We were made to feel very welcome during our stay at a lovely, well-maintained hotel in lovely gardens. Staff were very pleasant and the breakfasts were excellent. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with plentiful tea and coffee. The homemade biscuits and DVD library were a bonus.

Great location close to the centre of Ambleside and short walk to pubs and restaurants. Very friendly staff. Lovely room, very clean and tidy. The beds are so comfy, and after a day of walking they're so good to climb into! Im not a veggie, but the breakfast was great! Everything was tasty, and there was plenty of selection. Overall, an excellent Hotel in a great location. I'd definitely recommend staying here!

Nice big rooms. Lovely veggie breakfast too. Only thing is nothing in the town really opens early, including breakfast which you have to book a slot in advance and the earliest is 8am.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for my husband's birthday! We took the only room available to us on booking, room 6. It was on the ground floor, comfortable and quiet for the most part. I think it could be below a family room though and a bit of noise could be heard in the morning. The welcome cookies were a delicious treat and there are plenty of teas and coffee in the room. Breakfast was one of the best we've ever had - a fantastic buffet selection offering equal vegan and veggie choices and the croissants and then the cooked vegan full English were both amazing. Be sure to sample the home made nut butter - they should sell it to take away! A great location just a short walk from town and there are a couple of vegetarian restaurants worth checking out too. Hopefully we'll be back again one day.

Stayed here as a non vegetarian couple, the room was lovely and cosy, massive comfy beds and great bath - very clean as well. The breakfast was so good - you don’t even realise you’re not eating any meat. The staff were lovely and welcoming. Such a great place for such an affordable price!

Lovely place to stay to explore Ambleside

We had a good time at the Manor, but in the evening of 22nd August, we could hear women's voices, somewhat raised for at least nearly 3 hours. We will have a word with staff this morning. That's just people, they probably didn't know they were loud.

Fabulous in every way. A beautiful old building overlooking a peaceful garden, spacious rooms. A very clean hotel and very attentive and friendly staff. We loved the breakfast (great quality of food - don’t miss the vegan croissants) and the highlight were the freshly home baked peanut butter biscuits! This is definitely the place you should stay when visiting the central Lakes.

Absolutely fantastic stay at Ambleside Manor! We went as a large group of 8 people, and the staff were so accomodating and even helped me organise a cake cutting for my mum's birthday while we were there! The rooms were spacious, clean and perfect and the manor itself is absolutely beautiful, and common areas comfy and lovely as well. The breakfast was sumptuous and absolutely delicious! Ample parking as well, and a very easy 5-7 minute walk into town. The staff was even kind enough to post us something that was left behind accidentally. Overall, absolutely brilliant stay and would highly recommend it, there wasn't a single thing to fault.

Stayed +10 times - very comfortable & welcoming. Excellent breakfast. Run by the same people that run Zeffirelli's and Fellini's vegetarian restaurants - they are short walk from the hotel.

A wonderful experience. We stayed here for two nights. A gift from my folks. The hotel is well-located on the edge of town. Huge rooms and high ceilings. Great veggie and vegan breakfasts. But the best bit is the staff. Robert and Katy were standout but all the staff were amazing. Their level of knowledge of the local walks, runs and places to swim was the difference between a hood stay and a great stay. The partner restaurants were also fantastic. And added bonus is that the hotel has a couple of 7 kw car chargers at a reasonable price.

We stayed in a light-filled and spacious suite at the front of the hotel. Really comfy with everything you could need. A few minutes walk from town and the boats at Ambleside Pier. Friendly and attentive staff, delicious breakfasts - a perfect weekend.

An absolutely fantastic time!! Room, staff and food (we had the vegan cooked breakfast both mornings) all delightful and the biscuits in the room - a lovely little touch and also tasty! Will definitely return. 👍👍

Wonderful place to stay, vegetarian heaven! Our room was beautiful and very comfortable and the whole building is stunning. Very peaceful and quiet there. The breakfast was incredible, probably the best I've ever had in a hotel, even highly rated by my meat-eating partner!

Love this place. Room was fab (we got Room 6...dog friendly). Staff are friendly and polite and nothing is a bother. Great location.... best of all is the breakfast choices and standard....specials each day... highly recommend trying the overnight oats... delicious.

Beautiful, we have just been for a few days to stay. Great location very easy to walk into Ambleside 2mins. Afternoon teas in the garden are lovely just great sat in the beautiful gardens drinking coffee and eating fantastic cake. The room was lovely with a superking bed. We had a great breakfast with service that was second to none. We loved every minute, we will be going back, soon.

Beautiful property and amazing hospitality.

My husband, my six month old and I received a very warm welcome on arrival and found a very spacious room all ready for us with travel cot as well as three little blankets. The staff were flexible and available throughout our stay and allowed us to use the highchair they had already set up for us, without us having even asked, in the breakfast room to give our little one his evening meal. The breakfast was also delicious. Overall a great stay, would highly recommend.

Lovely management team at the hotel. Impressive to see a vegetarian hotel Breakfast menu was compact but the options were sufficient and covered the whole group (27 people from age 1 - 90) Rooms were nice, clean, bathrooms were also clean. Only downside for us as a group was that the lounge area was a little compact for us to relax in the evenings... But I guess it wasn't a cottage! Thank you team, we'd recommend the hotel again.

We have just enjoyed a 3 night stay at Ambleside Manor and were sad to be leaving! From the moment we arrived, every member of the team we encountered was warm and friendly. Our room was really comfortable and we enjoyed sitting by the fire in the communal room downstairs on a particularly rainy afternoon. Breakfast each morning was a real highlight - the fact that everything was vegetarian was fabulous - Ambleside really is an amazing place for a vegan holiday and we really enjoyed dinner at both vegetarian restaurants during our stay. The location of Ambleside Manor is great for exploring - with walks, the town and Lake Windermere all within walking distance. We are already looking forward to our next holiday at Ambleside Manor!

The staff were very friendly and efficient. The breakfasts were delicious. Arrangements for covid safety meant ordering the breakfast choices online the evening before but this was easy and worked seemlessly. We were on the 3-night deal with two evening meals provided in the sister restaurants, Zeffirellis and Fellinis plus reserved cinema tickets. Beautiful food and again we felt very covid safe. The only fly in the ointment was that, even though people were told they must wear masks in the cinema, quite a few took them off as soon as they sat down. Still, I suppose there are selfish folk everywhere. Ambleside Manor is literally 2 mins walk from the epicentre of Ambleside, yet it is quiet and peaceful. This is the third time we have stayed over the last few years and it won't be the last, What more can I say.

A beautiful hotel situated in a quieter part of Ambleside. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was fabulous! Reasonably priced too. They cater well for vegans and are dog friendly. Plenty of free parking. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They even rang me to let me know that I had left a couple of things in my room which they duly posted to me. I recommend this hotel and would definitely return.

After a gentle walk to Grasmere returning to Ambleside manor was fantastic! Such an amazing house retaining its Victorian character in a beautiful setting. A fine breakfast and a comfortable bedroom. Friendly staff too. I would highly recommend .

Very helpful, responsive staff. We asked for the outside light to be turned off and they kindly did. Lovely breakfasts (not quite so sure about kiwi fruit/avocado/pomegranate combination(?) but it did look pretty) Elegant dining room. Beautiful bed room. Easy short walk into Ambleside to Fellinis and Zephirellis Taxi from station £14.50. Convenient bus stop very closeby though! The wonderful MOUNTAIN GOAT tour minibus will pick you up from the door of Ambleside Manor.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ambleside Manor. We stayed in room 10 and it was gorgeously decorated, warm and extremely comfortable. The staff were so so friendly and helped us with places to eat for lunch. We stayed for 3 nights and included in the price was a 3 course meal and a 2 course meal and cinema trip (you can see the deal on the website but have to ring to book - we paid a £50 deposit and the rest on checking out). You can choose to have your meals at Fellinis or Zefrellis (both veggie). Fellinis was unbelievable and some of the best food we've ever eaten!! Fellinis is the more intimate, romantic of the 2 restaurants and I would recommend it to anyone. The food at Zefrellis really wasn't good but we watched the new Fantastic Beasts film at the the cinema which was great. The cinema was tiny and charming. The price also included breakfast at the hotel which included a buffet style fruit, museli, cereal, granola, yoghurt, dried fruit (vegan and gluten free options), juices, pastries and then a cooked breakfast (full English or whatever the special was). It was delicious and served from 8am-10am. The hotel itself was a 4 minute walk from the centre of Ambleside and a 15 minute walk to the very top of Lake Windermere. There are also some Roman Fort ruins on the way too. The scenary is gorgeous. In Ambleside, I would like to recommend two more veggie cafes (open 10-4ish), one called Ghandis and one called Rattle Ghyll. Both were incredible! The food from Rattle Ghyll is among the pictures.

What a fabulous location! A lovely Victorian house with plenty of space to park. Surrounded by trees in 2 acres of grounds and 5 minutes walk into Ambleside. Tastefully decorated and in keeping with the building. There is a pleasant outdoor seating area on the front of the house, lovely to relax after a day walking. The Bedrooms are spacious and clean with thoughtful extras like homemade biscuits - delicious! Good selection of teas and coffee too. Breakfast - wow!! An amazing offering of fresh fruit and fruit compote, soya milk and milk, nuts, yoghurt and cereals, all beautifully presented. Fresh fruit juices and croissants, just help yourself. Attractive dining room with original plastered ceiling and 16th century wooden paneling. Nicely set table with linen napkins too. Full vegetarian breakfast was delicious and lots of homemade toast and plenty of tea and coffee. Staff and managers really welcoming and friendly. I can't wait to visit again!

We have stayed here 3 times over 18 months and would recommend Ambleside manor to anyone either vegetarian or happy to eat a full and tasty vegetarian breakfast. The staff are great. They are all pleasant, polite and helpful. The rooms are well appointed with good furnishings and linen. There are suites and family rooms available. They also have a wedding license for both the manor and the band stand if you are looking for a nice place for a small wedding.

We stayed here overnight as we had booked into Fellinis for the meal and cinema deal and we were camping in the rain and fancied some luxury. We weren't dispointed. Fellinis was amazing! The picture House was great and the Manor House was brilliant! The icing on the cake! ❤️😀⛺️🙁
