Absolutely abysmal. If I was able to give zero stars for quality, I would have. The batter on the fish was indescribable, the fish itself resembled mush, and the chips were like cardboard. I wouldn't have served it to a Dog, let alone think it was acceptable for human consumption 😡

Great food fish was amazing, and chips were lovely. Best fish I have had for a while to be fair. Did not take any pics as wanted to get stuck in, but next time I will.

The fish I bought smelled bad, that is, it was a spoiled fish. The potatoes were disgusting. It had a really terrible smell and taste. I threw it in the trash.

Great place, Jude is the nicest guy, really accommodating to a large order quite late. Really, really friendly and gave us some free curry sauce! Really lovely, 10/10

We now always use alma Park fish bar as the chips are lovely and fluffy inside and crispy outside the fish (only tried cod) had lots of flavour and not overly oily. Live the fact we can get savaloys here too a big favourite in our house. Lovely staff.

Awful! Chips so dry could hardly swallow them. Really can’t understand the good reviews. Without a doubt the worst chips I’ve ever tasted. Went in the bin.

Used to be ok but seems to have gone downhill recently, the last couple of times we've been we've been really disappointed. Tonights chips tasted like they'd been sitting there for hours, not fresh at all. Most of them went in the bin.

Best fish and chip shop we have been to. Food cooked while you wait. Amazing to get fresh chips and fish. We split chips and staff happy to put it in two bags. Stayed at Belton woods lodges 10 minute drive this was our second visit. We will be going back.

I was catering for an equine event and ordered 16 portions of fish and chips. They were fresh and hot after the 15 minute drive back and the were the best I've had in a long time . We had many complements from the riders saying how good they were and whenever we are back in the area F&C from Alma Park Fish Bar will definitely be on the menu!

Chips were cold, not impressed since we waited 15 minutes.

As a visitor from Essex this was a lovely find, huge portions, great fresh fish and a very reasonable price. Really happy with the vegetarian range too. Will definitely be back on the next visit!

We read previous TripAdvisor reviews and being in Grantham, decided to drop in for lunch. This location is totally Covid secure, one allowed in at a time. Seeing the portion sizes we decided to share a large cod and chips. Our female server, had no problem with this request, stating she would halve the fish and chips and serve them in 2 boxes. On opening boxes, the portions were still large, the fish was white, the chips were perfectly cooked and all hot. Without question the best fish and chips we had tasted in quite some time. Thank you

Called here while the car was being MOT'd nearby. Just ordered some chips and curry sauce. The chips were freshly cooked, dry and really good. Staff friendly, so will return. 5* 😃

Went to my fav fish shop with my family from letchworth the cod was excellent as usaul the staff were very helpful i asked them if they would do me some pickled onions in batter which I had heard off i wanted to try them i know lot of people will go ach but they are very tasty and I would certainly buy them again

I have been trying to make my daughter more independent as she's getting older so once a week we have a treat of fish and chips and her job is to go to our local chip shop and order it, everytime she has been she has come back super proud of herself and extremely happy with how she was treated, they are always really nice to her and they even help her out with her order when she needs it, we are new to the area but this is and will stay a our go to fish and chip shop :) Food is of course absolutely lovely as well their battered sausage is the best I've had and gravy is absolutely amazing!

Never managed to purchase from here. They are open different times daily. Will try again soon

We have just moved to Grantham jyst over a month ago. Husband went to the fish and chip shop saturday 8th Feb. I must say what a feast. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection. Really liked the fact they were presented in a good sturdy box so no washing up! Who ever cooked the fish definitely won me over. Keep up the good work. 😊

Chips were recycled from lunchtime burnt and mostly inedible pies not the traditional pukka pies but a poor cheap alternative with a hard top and soggy bottom not accepting cards any longer due to the new owners want to save money. A poor comparison to the previous owners I for one will not be visiting again

Used today for first since Jimmy left, worst chops ever, fish cakes (3) cold and the pot of gravy disgusting, so thick and cold had to cut it out of pot and I live round corner, Never,Ever again,

Only tried this chippy recently after living in the area for years and regretting not using it earlier! Lovely chips and crispy bartered fish which is lovely and flaky. Food greasy at all and lovely service.

Best chippy I've tried in this area

First of all this used to be a very good chippy, until about 1 month ago, it is very rapidly going downhill. People talk and what I heard and noticed only compounded my thoughts. Customers even left and couldn't be bothered to wait. The food is not of the same quality it used to be. This is a great pity.

Always excellent, freshly cooked food. Very friendly and efficient staff.

Burnt oil flavour on everything... Ordered haddock but was served something else. Not cod, not haddock just some kind of white fish. Pissibly the worst fish and chip experience ive ever had.

Very popular fish bar. Their food is always well presented, fresh and delicious. The staff are very obliging and we keep going back for more.

Best chips in town, they even have an award to prove it. They often have homemade treats such as battered pigs in blankets at Xmas and cottage pie. Treat yourself and be sure to try the gravy.

I recently visited alma park fish bar for some lunch and was amazed at the difference compared with previous management. The variety on the menus and even tells us where the fish were caught. The size of the fish was large and very filling. I would highly recommend one of the best fish and chip shops we have been to

Couldn't ask for more, the food is great, the place is clean and the staff are always super friendly. Some unusual items on the menu that you don't find in other places which is a great USP. Always a queue which is a tell-tale sign of a good chippy. 10/10.

Very good and helpful friendly customer service brilliant light years better than was under previous management in the respect that the last owner was always rude to his customers God knows how he stayed in business so long. But again vast improvement.

Usually cannot fault this fish shop as we use it regularly. Ordered mini fish which was almost all brown fish rather strange. Won’t be ordering it again what a shame. The service is excellent and the premises are really clean. Sorry to give bad review but we were very disappointed.

Popped in last night with the other half just for some chips as we're not massive fish eaters. Met with a large choice! Spam fritters, sausage, Turkey sticks, pies, burgers etc. Got a very generous 'regular' portion of chips, very tasty mushy peas, spam fritter and some sausages. Best fish and chip shop I've been to! Quality ingredients, usually locally sourced, really good value for money. The staff there are very nice too, it seems quite close knit as they were all having a laugh and smiling which rubs off on customers. I watched 2 regulars come in while there and the staff instantly knew what they wanted. Absolute gem of a chippy! Will be going again.

This is our local chippy and now it’s under new management it’s one of the best chip shops we have ever been to! A great range on the menu, run by a lovely local family, great service, great value and the food isn’t at all greasy. We’re fortunate we only live a 2 minute walk away but I’d travel across town to come this chippy.

First time in the chippy and was greeted with a smile very friendly and found out they except card payment ..and food was spot on 👍

Gotta say best chip shop in Grantham great tasty hot food love the specials board. The staff are the friendliest nothing is a problem I would recommend this chip shop to all. I also believe they do a Gluten free night first Monday of every month.

Took a drive over after seeing they are short listed for ‘Best Newcomer’ in The National Fish and Chip Awards 2019. As the shop was quiet, I had the chance to have a chat with Grace? (name badges for management/staff-just a though) whilst my Haddock was being freshly fried. She is energetic, polite and enthusiastic and has a generational history in the industry and from our short talk certainly shows an ambition to be successful. I believe she is looking at ways which she can improve various aspects of the business in both the short and longer terms.Although on reflection I should have eaten the haddock and chips straight away I subjected them to a fairly lengthy drive home, never the best idea since they are best eaten as soon as possible after frying. What was probably a crisp and airy batter straight out of the pan had noticeably softened after a 25 minute drive. The fish, skin on, was moist and sweet but again didn’t benefit from the trip. I believe the chips may have been standing in the shop’s hot box for a while before being served and they too had cooled somewhat before being eaten. I didn’t notice if the variety of potato or provenance of the fish is displayed, always a plus as far as I am concerned.I am not vegetarian and my taste preference is for beef dripping fried, a sentiment I feel that Grace’s grandfather would appreciate, however I understand in order to cater to the largest customer base, Alma Park opts for palm oil as a preferred frying medium so, as I mentioned, not my first choice. It should be noted the palm oil is advertised as 100% sustainability sourced. I wish the shop every success in the remainder of the competition, entering for an award displays a determination and a desire to be permanently at the top of your game.Would I revisit the shop? Absolutely, but on an ad-hoc basis, if in the area. Fish from a shop should be eaten as soon as possible, not taken a long trip home. I believe a four and a half star review would be appropriate, which is not a reflection on the food or service but more to acknowledge the potential. Since this is not possible I am happy to upgrade to a 5 star review purely for the initiative in entering for the award.

Best fish and chip shop in the area without a doubt. The fish is cooked fresh to order and the batter is crispy and light. Gluten free and homemade specials available such as fish pie, curry and smoked haddock fishcakes. As a person with allergies I was delighted to have a number of meal options available to me. Delicious! Friendly staff who gave a very warm welcome. Very clean and well managed. Would highly recommend!

Great food, lovely owners. Best in Grantham. They have made a big effort in presentation which makes the experience even better.

Thought we would try here again as we heard it was under new ownership, well it’s well worth the visit. The chips were very tasty and not greasy at all! Also the staff were very friendly and we will definitely be returning.

Absolutely beautiful gluten free fish and chips, first Monday of the month after a deep clean of the premises and fryers. Lovely crispy batter, just breaks away from the chunks of cod! They also do battered sausages and fritters on the night too, chips are cooked to perfection.. cannot recommend highly enough.. well worth a car ride if you don’t live locally. Friendly family run service too. Cant wait for next month. Ps would of put a picture on but they didn’t last long enough.

Had the best gluten free chip shop tea on the gluten free night! Beautiful battered sausage and chips for me and fish and chips for my better half! My partner was very impressed and said it was the best fish and chips he'd ever had! I loved mine too! The batter was to die for! Well done to you all! I look forward to my next one! This will now be our monthly treat!

I have visited this Fish Bar many times, several since new ownership. I highly recommend them. The staff go above & beyond to help you out & serve you. They are very friendly & polite. Great and quick customer service, great fish, great chips and amazing kebab! Everything freshly prepared.

Great food, the gentleman and the younger male are very helpful and friendly. They even put some coleslaw by for my fussy mum in laws jacket potato once a fortnight. Make you feel valued as a customer and all food we have ordered from here has been hot and tasty. Regular local favourite of ours.

This is a very good and very friendly local chippy with happy and enthusiastic staff. There is a greater than usual selection of meals and the homemade fish pies are superb.
