Food good as usual but getting very expensive. Over £13 for a small fry and a mug of coffee ! Other places locally would be £8/9 for similar and just as good if not better.

Went to this beautiful exterior of a cafe today but extremely disappointed with the whole experience. From the minute we walked in no acknowledgement of custom. Waitresses did not engage or interact in any way. Place was cold and no atmosphere. No water available and coffee never arrived or food after a lengthy wait. We left unfed and got meal refunded. Never got to look round shop as it was the worst experience. Do not recommend. Will not return.

Discovered this place by accident on the way to Cavan. Had a light lunch which was enjoyable and filling and we did not need an evening meal in our hotel that night. Called back on the way home for late lunch / mid afternoon snack and bought 2 pictures in the attached furniture and homeware shop ( the stock is different and is a mixture of never in a month of Sundays (some of this is good quality but just not my taste) to must buy (we bought 2 pictures which are hanging on the walls of our home. Food was tasty and filling and at a very acceptable price. Went back today to get another picture. Found one that will need reframed. Had lunch Pasta special in a carbonara sauce with a plate of chips and coffee. Was both tasty and very filling so that we could not face one of their sweets which looked very tempting. Total cost a very reasonable £21. Will be going back - some good places in the area to visit with a good eatery to does make an enjoyable day out. Found the staff helpful and friendly.

HAppen to be passing. Called in for brew and something to eat. Across the road from the cafe was about 10 police bikes. Knowing that Prince Charles was in the area put 2 and 2 together. HAve to say the order was taken and quite slow in getting the food. Also, have to say three orders were in front of me. Food came as ordered was nice to have not commercial bread. All was as ordered. Guess it will be a while before they are as busy again.

Went today with one 3 yr old , stopped for ice cream outside then looked around the shop. At the ice cream counter neither of the two female staff greeted us , they continued doing what they were doing. There was no other customers at that time. The woman who served me was unpleasant, unhelpful, uninterested , it was just too much trouble for her. When It came to pay I had to go from one end of the shop to the other to pay separately for ice cream and other items I bought, even though I asked could I pay for ice cream and other items all together and was told yes. Overall a very unpleasant experience for this establishment. I felt that my custom wasn’t wanted , there was no receipt offered and I was charged £7.50 for 2 scoops of ice cream and one coffee. There was no price list displayed for ice cream. A certain snootiness hangs in the air. My custom is as good as anybody elses. I had seen a large furniture item I was definitely interested in but decided I couldn’t proceed with it due to the above. I left feeling relieved to be back outside again . Will not be returning.

After reading reviews I decided to take my friend here for lunch as it is only a short distance from where I live. I liked the idea of being able to get a bite to eat whilst also being able to have a browse in the shop afterwards. From the minute we walked in the door we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. It wasn't clear whether we were to take a seat first or if we should go up to the till. We went up to the till where an ill mannered women stood. I had to ask if lunch was still being served. I was told that all that was left were sandwiches and wraps. I looked around to see if it showed what type of wraps or sandwiches one could order and no where was there a menu to be seen. I then had to ask if they had a menu. I was then handed a menu in silence. I told her what we wanted and then came the payment. I asked if they took card, I was told they only took northern cards ? I then asked ok is there an ATM nearby I was told no and that the post office only took northern cards? There was no further attempt made to find another solution for this. I stood and said well I don't know what to do then? A younger worker at this point then asks if we had euros in cash. Luckily one of us did. I then had to ask do we seat ourselves or do we wait for the food ? I have never felt so uncomfortable in a cafe. The younger girl nicely told us she would bring it down to us. We went and found a seat somewhere. The food was brought out by the older women and she asked 'what drinks did you order again? ' my friend ordered a tea and I got water. The women then brought me over a glass, she had her hand inside the glass as she put it down infront of me. Unacceptable in any case but especially during a pandemic to have your hand inside a glass for a customer is just inexcusable. I at this point didn't even feel comfortable to ask for a new glass. We also at this point asked for cutlery and we were told bluntly 'its over there'.The sandwich was fine but at this point the standard of the food was irrelevant. As one can imagine we didn't really feel like browsing around the shop when we finished our food. We left as soon as we could and we dont plan on ever returning.

Allen's is a lovely mix of things, food, coffee, clothes, furniture and stamps. This beautiful postcard pretty village with cut stone buildings that go back a few hundred years. Allen's is three of them. Normally you enter and the buzzer alerts the staff that a customer has arrived. Your first encounter is the little nook that the Post Office presents surrounded by homewards. Then more upstairs as well and then the coffee shop. Even with Covid 19 there is lots of room to socially distance. This visit found the whole shop twisted around. So clothing has taken over the entrance and homewards moves down the shop. The coffee shop has an exit and a hatch which passing drivers pop up to rather than go through the shop. We had a lovely coffee and scones. The bad news is that there is no gluten free options at the moment. Luckily my wife was allowed take in some gluten free cake from the car. Glad to see it open again.

Allens is a magical place. It is not just a coffee shop but sells furniture, homeward and lovely nick backs for the Christmas. We only stopped for coffee but ended up staying longer to shop. The shop goes into two stories and three houses in the street. There is ample on street parking. The shop is on a busy street corner so beware when crossing the street. The staff are lovely and no questions on allergies are too difficult for them to answer. We spent so long in the shop we had to get take away cups for our coffee as we were running late for our meeting in Dublin. There is a post office in the shop which is quaint and useful at the same time. You can buy a gift have it wrapped and mail it from the shop. Christmas gift on its way. A kick start to the Christmas !

It is ages since I have been here. My wife and I were returning from our trip to the U.S. We were tired and pulled into Allen's for coffee only. You are always greeted with a smile and good service. The only problem with this coffee shop is not its fine food but all sorts of furniture and household utensils. We pottered about the shop as you do at our age and then you see a utensil you never saw before and suddenly you feel the need to buy it. There is nothing wrong with that of course. Our only complaint was my wife's " flat white", which had a tad too much milk. Otherwise everything else was excellent. A fantastic shop and lunch stop.

One gal was running the show in this quirky little place attached to a furniture store/interior decoration place. Pretty brilliant way to have a solid business in a small town, really. Both coffee and tea were good. Hubs had the full Irish breakfast with sausage and meats, but I only wanted the eggs. Our server was kind enough to add mushroom and tomato for me at no cost. Both the soda and the potato cakes were spot on, and everything came out fresh and quick. A great value--- I want to say it was only L4? Like really, really good and generous for the money!

Happened to be driving through Caledon yesterday and wandered into this shop and I am so glad that I did. The interiors shop itself is lovely but it's when you go upstairs that the real treat begins as it leads you into an old house with a warren of rooms all beautifully decorated with great ideas. Staff were really nice, friendly and helpful but not 'on top' of you, if you know what I mean. Wished I could have stayed longer and sampled their delicious looking cakes but I will definitely be back. Well worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for decorating ideas.

Have always found myself passing through Caledon on my way to Enniskillen admiring their lovely window display but never having time to stop. Thought I'd remedy this recently while travelling with my mum and sister. Got parked at the side and as it was raining so heavily entered by the back door through the cafe. On entering everyone stared including cafe staff none of whom smiled or spoke!! Beautiful shop with equally beautiful merchandise. Bought something and went to pay, again woman at till didn't smile or even say thanks so decided enough was enough and gave the cafe a miss. Won't ever be back, such an unfriendly place to visit, obviously Caledon doesn't appreciate visitors.

Me he alojado aquí unas cuantas veces, yo vivo bastante cerca. I often stop at this cafe when traveling through Northern Ireland. Usually I get a scone, of which there is always a good variety, and coffee. But I have had breakfast there on occasion too. The fried breakfast with soda bread is very tasty. The atmosphere is relaxing and if there is time, you can browse through their shop for gifts, clothes and antiques. These may not be cheap, but many are unusual. The staff are friendly and you can park right outside. They also have a take-away option, if you don't have the time to sit down.

Called in Allen's to-day for lunch. On entering the shop it wasn't apparent whether it was self-service or waiter service. The four of stood at the counter where there were four staff who ignored us. Having said that they were attempting to plate food and make coffees. Eventually our order for sandwiches and tea was taken by a somewhat incompetent young girl who did not mutter a word, even when we paid when we ordered. We found a table, which hadn't been cleared from the previous customers and staff member came and started to clear it, again not a word was spoken. After a wait of thirty five minutes one order arrived and in five or six minutes time the remaining orders arrived, eventually the tea came. Three cups, four saucers and a mug with four spoons in was set down! We were totally taken aback, the cups were stacked on top of the saucers and the mug complete with spoons was "plonked" in the middle of the table, not a word muttered! The quality and presentation of the food was very ordinary indeed. On each plate there was a mound of tasteless potato salad accompanied by something we suspect was rice. All in all this was most definitely the worst we have came across in a very longtime.Allen's must try harder!

We called in for lunch and ordered lasagne and salad, lasagne and chips and a cold beef platter. Although the lasagne and salad looked very good, it was extremely bland. I couldn't find any pasta in the dish, there was just a solid cheese-ish top and the mince was pitifully fine. Also it was only lukewarm... where was their food thermometer? The only enjoyable part of the salad was the coleslaw. I said nothing but later my daughter said 'That Lasagne wasn't very nice'. Then when I asked my husband how the beef platter was, the answer I received was 'It's alright....just!' I said nothing to the staff at the time, but later remembered that the last time I had called with a friend, she had returned her scone as it was raw in the centre. Anywhere can make a mistake, but when it happens on both occasions I've have visited, it is disappointing, especially when the rest of their giftware and furnishing in the shop are lovely.

As I travel often through Caledon on my way from Aughnacloy to Armagh I have always enjoyed this pleasant little village with its very famous visitors. Although small with not more than a couple of shops and eating places, it has its original architecture which adds to it charm. However if like me you enjoy taking a break from your driving for some refreshment or just a nosey around a shop then Allen's is the place to stop at. There is plenty of free parking on the side of the road outside the shop entrance which is disable friendly. There is also a carry out hatch to the side of the building if you should be in a hurry. The windows are always well dressed with a range of the gifts items, furniture and house hold items. The fact that the shop is also the post office you have the additional advantages of being able to pay bills, get cash or any other post related needs. The shop has a wonderful range of furniture which is spread out over several houses which are connected via doors so that each room is dressed with furniture to suit any taste or price. It is like walking through a cave of interconnecting caverns with exciting treasures to be found. The coffee shop has a lovely range of food which is delicious as it is temping. The staff are friendly and helpful and the tables are clean and there is a variety of heights of table and types of chairs. There are newspapers available for reading and free use of the wifi, So if you are like me travelling solo you can enjoy your own company either reading or browsing. The food selection is varied and tempting and the price is appropriate to the service and choice selected. I have found it to be a delightful place to stop at and have a break. The atmosphere is welcoming and homely. Why not stop and see for yourself.

I've grown up with this family run high-end quality furniture shop but had never visited their recently opened coffee shop, so this visit was my '1st' experience of their new venture.I attended with my two primary school age children, husband and mother, and we had afternoon coffee/hot chocolate with very fine home-made food. The 'coffee shop', though it is really not such but instead a few tables/booths inside a furniture shop, was busy though the shop itself was quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Nevertheless, we were trusted to pay AFTER we had eaten, considering the requirement to form a queue to make our selections/place our order. On the whole it was a very pleasant experience and I wouldn't hesitate about revisiting. The food was amazing and our drinks were very hot - and that I would say is very close to perfect. Our bill was just a few pence short of £20 (3 adults and 2 children), which I feel was perhaps on the expensive side had the food not been of such high quality. The shop also stocks kitchen wares, plus beautiful, unusual high quality furniture, and some gifts. A Post-Office is also hidden within. Despite it's location within a small village, it is definitely worth a visit, even if just for a browse.

My wife and I regularly call in here for lunch or afternoon coffee. For strangers Allen's is not just a quaint coffee shop but sells home furnishings and gifts. These goods are of high quality which is reflected in the pricing. Aside from the coffee and food the shop is great for a wander around, and like wise Caledon itself. I would recommend the puddings especially the Bakewell tarts. This isn't a criticism more a recommendation, I would like to see a greater choice on the menu for lunch. We have tried almost everything on the menu and have yet to find fault with it.

Firstly not too sure as to why Allen's is coming up as Caledon, South Africa....but geography aside, this family-run business in the centre of the tiny village of Caledon, COUNTY TYRONE!! is well worth a visit. Plenty of nooks and crannies in the furniture/gift shop to keep the most avid of browser happy but the coffee shop is the real delight. Run by the very pleasant and obliging Eloise, we have lunched here many times and could not find one negative thing to say. Delicious coffee (Greenbean I think from memory?) and a great value Ulster Fry if you're breakfasting (all available 'to go' from the takeaway hatch if you're in a hurry). Gorgeous versions of the panini/toastie/sandwich at lunch time served with delicious side salads.....always a hot dish of the day on offer along with soup not to mention the wicked traybakes, cakes and tarts. All home-made and fresh each day.....I could literally visit several times in a week and never tire of it or be disappointed. First class venue, would really encourage you to try it for yourself!
