We had a wonderful tasting menu - the flavours and artistry of each dish was fabulous

Second visit with guests. A successful visit with an improved sticky toffee pudding on offer in comparison with previous visits. Not only enjoyed the food but also the wine and atmosphere. I find it relaxing although with some minor errors with service ..... having to twice request the wine to be poured. However, all in all great value for money with great food and wine. Will certainly visit again.

Leading a company offsite of 40+ several times a year, I always default to Academy Restaurant for the experience, atmosphere, food and service. Its all fabulous and the team are so accommodating. Our team are always excited to circle back for the mouth watering food, before we leave we're already planning to return! The only flaw is the inability to add a tip to card payments. Set menu costings are so reasonable. Lisa the manager is the perfect host and always on hand to ensure the evening is smooth!

From we arrived at the front door the service was excellent and food fabulous. Love the layout of the restaurant as no one ever looking at a wall, great design

As part of Ulster University, this is where students get the opportunity to learn and practice their skills. There is a set menu and I don't eat meat but this was accommodated and I was given an alternative (which I know my dining companions would have preferred). Excellent service and a lovely atmosphere.

With Hunters chicken, and smoked salmon on the menu, I wasn't overly inspired. The reality was that it was an absolute privilege to eat here. A beautiful modern restaurant, the student waiting staff are some of the friendliest, warmest and welcoming I have encountered in any restaurant and are a credit to the place. The chef who inspires the chefs of the future is a gentleman who is willing to share his tricks of the trade and ventures around the happy customers ensuring everyone is enjoying themselves. It's impossible not to, every bite is a treat, and I would highly recommend trying this place for a fantastic meal.

Really nice food and quite a good experience. As this is a training restaurant I am very surprised the food did not cost less than any other place in our city though.

Feels like fine dining at a relatively more affordable price point. We had a fantastic dinner here! Service was good, food was prompt. Coconut margarita was tasty as was all the food we had. I had smoked haddock acra, rib eye steak with fondant potatoes, and chocolate fondant for dessert. I also tasted some of my partner's food and I can confirm everything from the kitchen was delicious. The atmosphere and decor was lovely. However, they only accept cash tips as they cannot add it to the card bill. The steak is not pictured in the photos attached. Photos are of cocktail, starters and desserts.

Italian themed menu maybe not my favourite but everything cooked and presented very nicely. I would question the creamy tiramisu dessert followed by creamy cannoli to finish, a citrus finish might have caused less indigestion. The restaurant is beautiful and service impeccable. Menus change weekly

We had dinner here on a Friday evening. We shared a starter, 2 mains, 2 desserts, and 2 coffees, 1 cocktail & 1 glass of wine. It cost £80, so probably better value than a lot of places. If you want to tip, *bring cash*, u can’t add it on if paying my card. The staff were really lovely, very friendly & helpful. It was the first time I have ever heard staff mention that an item on the menu was low sugar/ low carb. I was really impressed by this as I am diabetic & follow a low carb diet. It should probably be a more common menu option than vegan, LOTS of people are type 1 or type 2 diabetics. The food was pretty good, the flavours were nice, the meat & fish we had were maybe a bit overcooked. The decor was lovely, but we were sat beside an emergency exit and had a fire alarm button at our table which was a bit odd. Overall, would recommend.

Great food and service in a great room

Such a great addition to the Belfast food scene. Top class plates of inventive food delivered through Ulster University's Culinary Arts course under instruction from top chefs. Great atmosphere, lovely room and service. Online booking and regular menu changes.

Lovely food with great service and excellent staff.

I ordered a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich which had hardly any filling in it. It was very disappointing and I won't be back.

Terrific starter - scallops perfectly cooked. Delicious Tarte Tatin - the best I have ever eaten. Charming and efficient service - would return.

The Academy has finally graduated into a fine, fully fledged silver service restaurant which gets full marks on the quality of food and helpfulness of staff. A top class experience.

The Academy is both a brilliant concept, and a super restaurant. Being staffed by university students, it is a fantastic training ground for the next generation of Chefs and hospitality staff, and the quality of food and service is first class. A lovely atmosphere too! I would highly recommend

Our second visit within a couple of weeks- this time for the Xmas menu. Delicious food, warm hospitality, a gorgeous restaurant space, a fantastic menu and great value for money. Our favourite place to eat in Belfast - just wish it was open more evenings! Book in advance -you’ll not be disappointed…..

Went there for a Tuesday tasting menu, and was just bowled over. The food was fabulous – beyond being prepared you could say it was orchestrated. A variety of tastes and textures, all wonderful, over six courses. An incredible of selection of whiskies for a drink before, and a wine list that was not only wide ranging, but had prices that could only be described as reasonable, (I won’t dare say cheap.) The only niggle, and this is tiny, is that the timing of getting the courses to the table was slightly uneven. Next time I’m in Belfast this will be my first port of call for dinner, and, if I’m there early enough, lunch.

First visit. Tasting menu - excellent. Atmosphere good and surroundings top notch. Service could have been a bit faster but otherwise a very enjoyable experience. I'll visit again around Christmas.

A wide selection of food on the menu to choose from & very focused on local sustainable food. We had beetroot soup, savoury scrolls & cod cheeks orzo on this visit & it was excellent.Very tasty. Very well priced. Excellent service from the hospitality students in training. Very welcoming in the centre of the city-hidden gem!

Although it is a university training school, I have been to others and unfortunately, this night, wasn't as good. I expect it was just unlucky on our part rather than across the whole restaurant. The food was what you would expect and some of the pieces exceptional; all down to personal taste but all presented professionally. However, our table was forgotten about and whilst other tables were on their third and fourth course, we were still waiting on our second. When it was noticed, our remaining courses came at a rate so we all finished at the same time however with the portion sizes, this was more funny than an issue. Best this happen in a learning environment and I'm sure it was just us and one other table. I'd still go back again.

This is the university training school restaurant however it is as good if not better than most city centre restaurants and at a reasonable cost. Food has excellent flavours and great variety of dishes. Service excellent given the staff were possibly serving the public for the first time. Attentive and helpful. Will definitely return.

Stunning. It’s a rare thing to have a working restaurant attached to a university. The students get hands on, supervised, exceptional training. Quality of food and service is wonderful. Training the next generation of culinary and hospitality stars.

What a find ! My friend and I had lunch here . Everyone was so friendly and professional. Food was cooked to perfection.Great wine list. Came home and booked a return visit and will definitely book for the tasting menu.

So good to see the old front of house skills being used! So long since I've been crumbed down after a meal! Service and food were both really good, hidden gem!
