Y Polyn

Llanddarog, Carmarthenshire, 30-45£
16/07/2019: An excellent welcome, kind service, wonderful ambiance, lovely food. Ideal surroundings, recommend to anyone who likes fine cuisine.
15/07/2019: Have visited this wonderful restaurant on many occasions and we are never disappointed. Went there last Saturday and had a delicious dinner of pigeon breast followed by the scrumptious duck. Lynne and I were looked after so well by the two Steves and all the gang. Well done Mark your standards are excellent and your staff so friendly. See you in September.

The Forest Arms

Llanegwad, Carmarthenshire
18/07/2019: We were visiting the area on holiday and were looking for a nice local country pub for an evening meal. The Forest is a little out of the way but well worth the short drive through some lovely countryside. The landlord and staff were very welcoming and attentive. The menu has a good range to suit all and the food was well presented and very nice. Our golden retriever was made to feel very welcome and it was nice not to be tucked away just because we had a dog.
29/06/2019: This pub is hidden gem. The roads from Carmarthen to the pub are very nice and quaint and are a must see. When arriving we were immediately greeted in a great manner and the staff and owner were excellent and chatty, it’s nice to see good interaction with customers which is quite hard to find. The history of the pub is also something to add to its uniqueness which other pubs don’t necessarily have.

Owls Nest Tea Room Diner

Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, <20£

The Kings Arms

St. Ishmael, Carmarthenshire
21/07/2019: Family meal. Great choice of different dishes. We ordered steaks which were cooked to perfection, a kids meal which was more than enough food, lasagne and the burger. No complaints, all the food was delicious. Great service and nice atmosphere. Dogs are welcome.
13/07/2019: Years ago we had a caravan on the nearby Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park and frequently visited this pub which is in the village on a hill above the campsite.

Carmarthen Town South, Carmarthenshire
21/07/2019: Visited for my graduation meal with my partner and the food was beautiful! The lamb was the tastiest I have ever had eating out and the portions were generous - great value for the price. We will definitely be visiting again. :)
18/07/2019: Second visit for lunch, what can I say! Awesome

Cafe at No 4

Carmarthen Town South, Carmarthenshire
14/07/2019: I visited with my partner on a Friday night and the food was delicious. He had the beef and I the lamb and both were lovely. The ratatouille and crab lasagne starters were lovely and we had the lite bite desert which was tasty.
08/07/2019: An absolute gem of a restaurant.

Calon Cafe and Interiors

Carmarthen Town South, Carmarthenshire
11/07/2019: We had lunch here today and it was very good. I had the fish balls with tagliatelle which tasted lovely but far too big a portion and hubby had the posh pork belly which he thoroughly enjoyed.
07/07/2019: Came here on the way home from a weekend away and it was exactly what we all needed! The breakfast was lovely, fresh and good value for money. Would definitely recommend 👌🏼

11/07/2019: Having given up on the hopeless selection of places to eat in Burry Port where we were actually staying we decided to venture further afield and fortunately found this place. Being booked up for Christmas Day lunch by June says much for the place!

Laugharne Township, Carmarthenshire
21/07/2019: I spent the weekend walking in Laugharne with my partner and dog and enjoyed several visits to this lovely restaurant...The outside is stunning, inside is very tastefully decorated and very clean..The service was the best customer service ive ever come across and the food was out of this world..We ate several times here from breakfast, lunch, coffee and the tastiest cakes to our evening meals ..Everything we had was delicious, freshly made and very good value for money..Our dog was very welcomed and made a fuss of with tasty treats...The owner Nikki was so lovely and welcoming and obviously knows how to run a very popular succesful business ..Cant wait to return ..
21/07/2019: Just called for coffee and a cake. Impressed with friendly staff and good strong coffee. They were happy for our friends to bring their dog in too. Looked like a good food menu too.

The Cowshed

Whitland, Carmarthenshire
24/06/2019: We had a beautiful evening in our campervan and amazing homemade pizzas and fresh ice cream. The pitches are great, in a quiet field.
30/05/2019: This was the first time my 2 kids have been camping and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. A wonderful stripped back way of life with plenty to do nearby. The pizzas in the cowshed are incredible too with wonderful warm hospitality. We will certainly be back (the kids are already asking when and we haven’t left yet!)

Penny Black Coffee House

Burry Port, Carmarthenshire
05/03/2019: During an unseasonably warm spell, at the halfway point in our coastal walk, we came upon the Penny Black coffee house and post office. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, well supported, considering the season and above all most welcoming. For a hot chocolate, mocha with cream, 2 welsh cakes and a portion of barra brith the charge of £6.20 seemed modest indeed by city and English standards.
27/10/2018: We were staying in Burry Port and had breakfast here on our final day. The food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly. The prices were very reasonable too. Will definitely go back when we're in Burry Port again.

Plas Llanelly House

Elli, Carmarthenshire
13/04/2019: Went to a Gin night on Fiday 12th April. What a fab night. Lovely setting, good food, good selection of gin & other drinks and the staff were well presented & very pleasant. The entertainment was also very good. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for more events.
05/03/2019: Decided to book Sunday Lunch at Plas Llanelly after hearing rave reviews from friends. We were not disappointed.Everything about our visit was first class-service was friendly but efficient and the food was delicious. There was plenty of choice on the menu and everything was so reasonably priced. My partner and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Glanymor, Carmarthenshire, 45-60£
23/05/2019: Always felt this was over rated and full of pretentious people. Not a loss really. Llanelli deserves something the people can afford!
22/03/2019: This is no longer open, but when we did visit some 20 months ago we did not think that the future looked rosy as their prices were extortionate considering the area they were serving.

The Portreeve's Tafarn

Laugharne Township, Carmarthenshire, 20-30£
14/07/2019: We were staying in Laugharne for a week, and ended up eating at The Portreeve's Tavern on 3 evenings. Why - because of the quality of the food, plus the excellent service. The daily specials included many different fish options, but I would recommend the Sea Bass. Another evening I tried the Surf and Turf - not my usual choice, but turned out to be my favourite meal with a mixture of Rump Steak, King Prawns and Scampi.
14/07/2019: The staff were really friendly and good and our mussles were excellent. However the main courses were bland and disappointing. The vegetables were also plain, boring and fogettable. There wasn't anything bad enough to complain about and maybe we were just unlucky but we did not want to return.
