The Tynant Inn

Radyr, Cardiff
17/03/2019: we visited here on Friday night as a group of 8 looking for somewhere local to our hotel to find some pub grub and a few drinks!
07/03/2019: I visited here as part of a group of 4 last night for the first time , a nice warm welcoming atmosphere, We had 2 x rump steaks (chips, mushroom, grilled tomato, side salad), 2 x Chicken Kormas (half rice, chips) then 3 x deserts (mine was apple&caramel; crumble with custard) (cant remember the other 2 sorry), Basically the 2 x curries were very nice and enjoyed, The steaks were very good and cooked medium, most enjoyable. The deserts were all really lovely. So all added up to a most enjoyable evening meal and a nice warm atmosphere. We most definitely are looking forward to next time.

Cicchetti

22/02/2019: Went there with the Cardiff Lions Club for their social evening event. We opted for the early bird deal which was reasonably priced. Having pre-booked we were seated by the window in a very tight spot for the number of people.
26/01/2019: The ambiance is really nice in the restaurant. The pizza was very tasty but the rest of the food was just average and we all found the service indifferent. Can thoroughly recommend the Radyr tap over the road for a pre or post dinner drink.

28/03/2014: We called in lunchtime and had the 2 main courses for £10.99. Nobody had picked up the litter under the next table and the salt & pepper containers were filthy. I tried to swap them on 2 adjacent tables but they were exactly the same - this is obviously the standard to which they work. I had the hotpot - undercooked veg on top and almost completely cold accompanying veg of broccoli, carrots and peas on the side. My wine glass didn`t look that clean and was wet on the outside. My husband`s meal was equally poor. The waitress didn`t ask how the meal was as I was gearing up to tell her and when we were going I didn`t see any staff to tell so I left it - we`d already paid and not much point if this is the standard there anyway. Really glad I decided not to book there for Mother`s day this weekend. Won`t be going there again.
26/03/2014: there were 5 or 6 of us that had steaks and they were all tough and gristly, and over or under cooked. the place is overrun with kids - it's kind of got to the point that they need an inside kids' area, because it's a family pub with nothing for kids to do and they just run riot. obviously not the pub's fault that unruly kids will chase each other into the dining area but just a comment if youre looking for somewhere quiet to eat, maybe go after a certain time in the evening. but don't order steak! definitely not worth the steep prices!!
