Sunrise CAFE

Blaina, Blaenau Gwent
01/12/2018: Just had another return visit to the sunrise cafe in blaina, they started doing festival rolls so we have to try them out. Turkey and stuffing roll was amazing and the gravy really finished off the meal. great price again food is piping hot and fresh will be returning in the future
28/11/2018: Excellent food and prices. I travel from Merthyr for a breakfast here. Love it. Friendly staff always with a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

The Bridgend brynmawr

Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent
09/12/2018: Went to the Bridgend on the 30th November for a family meal celebrating an anniversary. As always everything was spot on, great meals and a good selection of drinks at the bar! Will be back again 5*
06/12/2018: Booked in for a birthday meal there was around 20 of us. The service was ok - a few of the meals were wrong but these we quickly rectified. For example cheesy garlic bread ordered but plain garlic bread came out.

Bedwellty House and Park Tredegar

Tredegar Central and West, Blaenau Gwent
13/12/2018: Cath organised our recent visit and everything was perfect. An amazingly venue which oozes local history.
31/10/2018: table awaiting with our name on it in a certificate style really attentive start to a fab lunch.thnx guys and staff.

Berrys Bar

Abertillery, Blaenau Gwent
12/12/2018: Disappointing visit this time. Venue was very full as it is coming up to Christmas. We were squeezed in even though we had booked. We all had steak and fries. Rump steak was cool and quite tough . Very little sauce came with meal. Service was good however even though only two staff serving.
16/11/2018: Came here for the picnic bench which has received good reviews but I found it disappointing. Concept is good but content overwhelmingly sweet and so much is provided that it was impossible to finish. We were offered containers to take uneaten items away in but when most are served in individual pots it is a little difficult to decant. 3 savoury items and 7 sweet items served- nothing in large portions but put together it was a bit daunting. For me 3 or 4 sweet items would have been more than enough along with the savoury items. Best bits- fruit crumble and chocolate cheesecake. Worst bits- jelly and muffin/cupcake. None of our party managed to eat everything- perhaps 40% of what was served up would have been thrown away. Perhaps Berry's could consider a smaller offering at a lower price. The service was good and looking at other tables, all meals seem to be plated up in very generously sized portions so, if you're planning to go, make sure you're very hungry and pace yourself!

Brewers Fayre Victoria Park

4 offers
Ebbw Vale South, Blaenau Gwent
17/12/2018: Would definitely recommend this Brewers Fayre. We reserved a table and glad we did as it was busy, but everything was run very well. We were informed the meal may take a little longer as it was busy but we were served within half an hour so no problem for us. We enjoyed a very nice house merlot wine and all the staff were lovely.
14/12/2018: Victoria Park doesn’t disappoint!!!

Cinnamon Garden

Beaufort, Blaenau Gwent
13/12/2018: We visited on a Wednesday night, a party of 5. Pleasantly surprised and great service and food. We all choose from the special menu which is available on a Wednesday and Sunday and for £9.99 included, popadom & chutneys, a starter from the main menu, any curry from the main menu & basmati rice or chips or nan. We upgraded our rice to mushroom and special and paid the extra (which was well worth it) and had nan breads. The young waiter was great and opened the wine for us and poured it out, very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. Our starters came quickly and the mains not long afterwards. Very tasty meal and will definitely return. Excellent customer service and great Indian food.
02/11/2018: Friendly staff good food 🍲 good service warm and welcoming give it a try it want let you down and they listen to your needs and requirements

The Mountain Air

Sirhowy, Blaenau Gwent
10/12/2018: very bad food!!! Had a chicken burger it was a very cheap oven burger in a long life roll, frozen chips no fresh ingredients. 100% never again. The waiter was pleasant but thats it!!!
22/11/2018: Lovely cosy inn, even though it was only 2 degrees was delicious and plentiful, service was delightful, will definitely return when in the area.

Costa Ebbw Vale

Cwm, Blaenau Gwent
12/12/2018: Nice view whilst supping a Chai Latte after a wander around the Festival Park. Plenty of parking available
25/11/2018: I always go here when I am in Festival Park, being disabled the staff are so helpful and the food and service are good. The views indoors or out on the decking what ever the season are stunning x

Morrison's Store Cafe

Badminton, Blaenau Gwent
06/11/2018: Called hear today for breakfast and found out that the menu has changed ... bring back the old menu as the way breakfast is served now is terrible.
27/09/2018: It’s only an in store cafe but it to a very good standard. We have never been disappointed. You can’t complain about the prices, go into town and you will pay £3 more per couple for a drink and cake.

Church St Fish Bar

Abertillery, Blaenau Gwent
14/11/2018: Excellent chips all the time always fresh and lots of offers and new items added all the time more than a normal fish shop
04/11/2018: Called in on a sat afternoon around 6 not much left to order as all the food available we were told were for orders. Had large chips which are put in a box then wrapped in paper ??? I know portion control is important but can't they use a box to measure the portion then just wrap in good old fashioned paper. The boxes make food sweat and taste horrible not to mention they are non recyclable. Our chips and sausages were wrapped then we had to wait a few mins for our Irish curry which I presume was being warmed up in a microwave as it was stone cold when we got home as was our food being left on the counter with the door open on a cold evening . Won't be returning shame as this place used to be amazing .

Willow Tree Brynmawr

Nantyglo, Blaenau Gwent, <20£
02/12/2018: Very nice meal and drink with family very kind waitress named Lucy very helpful. Food maybe could have been better. All round not too bad. Lucy was very kind and helpful.
01/11/2018: Food was lovely! It came quick, tasty and hot! Even though they were rushed off their feet! Our waitress Sarah Williams was excellent couldn’t do enough to make sure we received superb service! Will definitely be returning in the future!

The Ambala

Cwm, Blaenau Gwent
06/11/2018: Since this hotel has recently reopened after serious health and hygiene concerns I expected better but was sadly disappointed. The service is slow and the food is not up to the standard of other Indian restaurants. One of our party had the misfortune to stay overnight and described the accommodation as appalling. The room was sorry, the decor was peeling and the pillows like lead. Worst of all was the bathroom which obviously hasn't been cleaned for quite some time. I would say avoid this establishment at all cost. The nearby Première Inn is far better.
06/11/2018: Looks good on first impression, but sadly the food is a low standard. The bar area is funky and the beer was good.

The Castle Inn

Rassau, Blaenau Gwent
19/10/2018: Very expensive place More so if the food is rubbish Avoid it’s simple would never recommend this place
12/10/2018: Never got to Castle Inn, as Storm Callum was hitting South Wales. Family member who lives not far from accommodation advised don't come as weather to bad. Manager of Castle Inn said not to bad just rain was not sympathic and would still charge £110 for room as he advised had to turn people away, I don't think!

The Railway Tavern

Sirhowy, Blaenau Gwent
22/07/2018: Went for a meal with my wife. The meals are very big and good value. My wife made do with a starter and a bowl of chips . I had bacon chops. There was two very big chops that were very very tasty. Only critisism would be slightly slow service but it was well worth the wait and only £20 with drinks
06/06/2018: Fantastic venue for some after work drinks, great atmosphere and the bar staff are incredibly friendly, whenever myself and the work colleagues come for a few drinks we look forward to seeing Ailise for a good laugh.

Tyebbw Fach

Six Bells, Blaenau Gwent
11/10/2018: You will not have passed here by chance, but you must make the effort. First travel towards Abertllery in South East Wales and find signs to 'The Guardian'. The Guardian is a huge metal figure in the shape of a coal miner. It stands in commemoration of a mining disaster at the Six Bells Colliery in 1960, when many lives were lost. Do walk right up to the figure from the car-park, as it is more awe-inspiring the nearer you get to it. Once you have viewed this monument, go to the café just next to the parking. A wide range of home-made food is available throughout the day and the service is warm and welcoming. We only stopped for tea, but the cakes and pasties were delicious. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.
19/08/2018: £3.50 bargain Includes tea toast A 20 minute wait but well worth it Very fresh staff friendly and nice surroundings
